I have over 100 perfumes sent to me by brands, and have smelled thousands of perfumes and after 2 years of owning this, it has still remained my favorite perfume. Keep in mind that I’m a 21 girl, and I don’t like challenging perfumes. This is my love letter to Craft. Craft is a sensorial experience. It’s a juxtaposition of nature and science, warmth and cold, freshness and sweetness. It is the epitome of balance, to my nose. It has created its own genre. The scent itself floats, you can’t touch it. This mist or cloud is warm once you put your hand through it, you feel its subtle moisture particles on your skin, and then you’re hit with a freshness of a breeze once this mystical cloud floats away. It’s inviting, and subtly fresh (freshness reminds me of cedrat and citron accords) yet utterly unique without it being pretentious. For those who smell it on you, will feel as though this scent is an extension of your natural scent. It’s not at all synthetic or screechy as the notes suggest. It lasts around 8 hours, and it always remains as a presence somewhere either on your clothes, or your hair for long after. I doubt one could feel this as I do if they smell it in a store, this will come to you when you’re not distracted and you smell it on your skin.

so cool, refreshing, airy, cold and very austere, you really get a fresh scandinavian dark/black forest vibe from this, very coniferous, eucalyptusy and piney, kinda reminds me of those pine needle sodas really surprised with this one, it's very avant-garde, futuristic, and the aldehydes really help transport you in a different world, for me it brings me straight back to where I lived as a teenager, my house was right next to a huge eucalyptus forest, and whenever it rained, the wind would carry this incredibly fresh eucalyptus scent towards our house, it's probably a scent I've been trying to find ever since, and so far this is the closest I've gotten, Concrete Lightning by DS&Durga was also kind of close but it misses that woody, green/piney eucalyptus quality so it didn't hit the spot I already love incense scents and I was looking for a greener version that I could use through spring/summer, Kyoto was a potential candidate but the longevity is really weak, Craft seems to be the answer, and I like how it balances the greens and the incense better too, so I'm super happy with this find, really versatile as well, I can see myself reaching for this in any season, the only thing I wish is that it projected just a tiny bit more

As a perfume influencer, I had the opportunity to pick out my favourite of this line, and I opted for this masterpiece. This is the coolest perfume I have. This marries with my skin and personality, and it becomes a very wearable, alluring and intriguing scent. It’s the epitome of a signature. My best friend has fallen in love with this, she’s a very stylish, striking put together woman, and she could smell it in the room after I had left for about 15 minutes. This LASTS. And perfumes don’t usually last on me. This is warm, skin-like but make it woody. It has crispness and coldness but it doesn’t smell cologne-y or vintage, yet it’s resinous and mysterious. It honestly has everything yet it’s so balanced and leaves a cloud of a clean, woody and musky scent with an addictive quality that I’m not sure where it comes from. Truly obsessed.

Such a nice surprise. Craft is often compared to Heeley's Cardinal and I've to say that, for the most part, I agree that they share more than one similarity. With that said, Craft's aldehydes blast is really pushed to the maximum to enhance the waxy element of this incredibly delightful incense. As a matter of fact, if I were to draw a parallel with another fragrance, I would still drop Cardinal's name but I would probably go with the candle version over the body fragrance. The result is an extremely sparkling and clean dry fragrance with a remarkable metallic aspect that provides an overall aloof vibe. Very nordic and hyper-minimalistic waxy incense at its best. Fans of the coldest CDGs, take note. Rating: 7/10

I only have a sample but I'm blown away by this scent. It smells like a church, at the end of the service when the incense has settled into the wood and the candles have been extinguished. After settling there is a hint of sweetness, I'm guessing from the patchouli. This is a woody, earthy, incense scent. I do not get any metallic notes at all. I also have difficulty picking out the water notes, which is the only downside as my ideal scent (which I'm still looking for) would be woody and watery/fresh. Still, this is an amazing perfume and will transport you to an English minster. If I find nothing better I will experiment with layering.

Very sweet and bright incense. Indeed reminiscent of Cardinal, Sancti and Avignon but, in my opinion, sweeter than all of them. This is my favourite type of scents and I bought the full bottle immediately after smelling it once. Uplifting and addicting fragrance. I don't get much of metallic notes or snow/cold references, mostly just an intense blast of elemi and woodiness. Love this nonetheless and perceive as a female scent. Nothing too new on the topic but a great scent and a must have for people who enjoy incense perfumes.

I feel like 95% of these reviews are talking about a completely different fragrance. This isnt elemi heavy. Its aldehyde-heavy! Reminds me way more of other aldehydes than anything currently listed under "reminds me of." More like a Temu Pikovaya Dama or a Wish My Sweetest Morphine. Either I cant smell elemi at all, or these people cant smell aldehydes. Im leaning toward the latter. Its not bad at all, but I just cant justify reaching for this when I already own Pikovaya Dama amd My Sweetest Morphine.

The definitive incense fragrance for me, and I love my Lavs, CDGs, Boswellia Scotia, L'Orpheline etc. The aldehydes and elemi are blended in perfectly, resulting in an avant-garde and futuristic, incredibly clean composition. This is what a sci-fi post-humanity church in "Blame!" would smell like.

Oh how I adore this fragrance. The initial scent is very cold and heavy of incense. It reminds me of finding an old cathedral in a forest that still smells of incense being burned. It’s very woody and deep. If you love incense you’ll love this. I would totally buy a full bottle.

I LOVE THIS! Like a dark metallic woodland witch. God bless the cedar and patchoulli notes in this. Intoxicating.

This fragrance is so cool. Initially it made me feel like my sister and I were orphaned in a super old mansion in the woods but we were poor and had no heating. We’re huddled together in the freezing cold so like it is cold but also feels cozy? The only thing we have to do for joy is read dusty old books with really thick yellow pages. It smells woodsy and cold and like dry dusty old paper. But sometimes it also smells super sterile and burns your nose when you inhale which is slightly unpleasant. I think I may have put a bit too much on. I don’t get much of an incense flavour it’s more just resinous for me. The metallic isn’t over powering for me but it’s sort of like the vibe of a dry cold lightweight piece of metal and if you have any moisture on your fingertips they’ll stick to it. I reeeeaally like this and think it’s super unique but unfortunately it started to make me feel nauseous after a few hours. Mind you I was at work and feeling really hot so that might have been most of the problem. I think I’ll have to test it out again and be a little lighter with my application. I really liked it on my boyfriend when he tested it out a couple weeks ago and didn’t find it nauseating at all so I have hope. If it doesn’t make me feel sick again I would consider buying a full bottle.

Although fully an industrial metallic scent, on my skin it's very light and easy to wear. I don't get why some people say it smells sharp or burning. To me it smells like youre at grandma's house on a rainy day and you open the oven door as it's preheating. While metallic, the incense gives it a very cozy and comforting quality. Smells like a old brown warm metal baking pan. The aldehydes and metals do make it edgy and a bit gothic, but the rest of it is so cozy and domestic to me. Perfect light goth scent. It's very easy to wear and I feel like a great introduction to metallic scents. Has a very moderate sillage and longevity. However sometimes on my skin i feel it barely lasts at all, or it feels a little weak. Other than that though I am a fan and I think its well done and very versatile. On the right skin i think it could be amazing. Also I love to layer this fragrance with Glossier You. On me I feel like the iso E super and pink pepper make Craft smell a lot more incensey and boost its strength a bit. They kind of balance eachother out, with You being very bright and Craft giving it more edge and darkness. Great early spring warm combo.

I am well aware that "Coven" is the cult favourite among Andrea Maack's fragrances, I would describe "Craft" as its sister scent, as it evokes similar imagery upon first smell —though personally prefer this one. I love the heavy, lingering tree resin that lasts with this scent. It evokes imagery of a deep, dark, damp forest. There’s a sterility to the resin that gives the fragrance a cold, almost clinical edge, bordering on something haunting (I'd like to image it would fit well into Silent Hill or Resident Evil universes). It’s a scent that feels both comforting and unsettling, and I’m drawn to it. I do I adore that I found this at "Smell Stories" in Brussels while visiting a dear friend of mine, now whenever I wear it I think of my time in Belgium as well. Edit: I should note that this is a VERY controversial scent for my family/friends... Majority of them hate it! I've heard often it reminds people of cooking spices, which is odd looking at the scent profile.

I decided to start running one late October on impulse when I was a teenager. I would get up at the crack of dawn, lace up, and get out. My route took me through open fields where the cold air galvanized my lungs and a shimmering morning frost settled on every surface. The grass, metal chain-link fences, trees.... I distinctly remember the way the smell of the air changed when I passed through an area where a great field was bisected by power lines. The air was prickly-cold, and infused with a metallic tang. This stays with me so vividly because the looming, silver-grey structures always seemed so ominous and forced me to race myself through the field as fast as I could. I find this fragrance incredibly evocative and exciting. I am not sure that I will ever wear it---I would loooove this on a man--but I would bet this fragrance has the ability to spark personal memories in anyone who decides to sample this. It's your own personal landscape.... Well done.

This seems extremely similiar to Escentric Molecules 01 - Molecules. There is the same "nut" note I got from the Molecules, but this I like a little bit better. At the opening it's very medical and woody, there is the slight "nut" accord, but I can't say it disturbs me as much as it did in Molecules. I do not find this to be a feminine perfume at all, but it could be worn by patchoulli lovers. The patchoulli here indeed is extremely medical, sharp and earthy. I almost pressed "dislike", but then the elemi appeared and I started to get something I would definetely want to smell on a man. It smells like pine forest in autumn after rain, all the earth is wet and dirty, the pine is smoky and all together it's very medical, herby, earthy and hippy-like. It's not cup my tea, but the quality is AMAZING. I would like to smell this on a man, but my bf said that he's had enough with me pouring stuff on his wrist :( Oh well...

Andrea Maack had a valentines day sale a few days before the holiday so I bit the bullet and finally bought this and Coven. I had sampled Craft and thought it was bizarre but alluring. I would think it was CDG if I didn't know any better. Do not blind buy this scent. It's niche. Trust me just invest in a sample because it's not a cheap scent either. $170 for 50ml is ludicrous unless you really like it. If you want to smell extremely mysterious, uncommon, maybe a bit menacing(?) then I recommend it. Something about it screams feminine to me, but that might just be a personal thing. I've never smelled anything like it before and I'm happy it's in my collection.

Auditioning both, I have been on the fence about whether to go with Avignon or this one. Both feature a similarly wearable and pleasant incense concoction. And initially, because I perceive the CdG take to be stronger and longer-lasting (and cheaper!), I had almost dismissed Craft as an option. But spending more time, I think that Craft is slightly more seasonally versatile, and it also has s bit more subtlety and complexity. Avignon starts and finishes in pretty much the same (lovely) place for me, but Craft shows different facets from moment to moment, over the course of wear.

Upon first spray- aldehydes! Which is something that is hit or miss for me. I hate Chanel no 5 as I think it smells like ammonia, but I do not pick up on ammonia from this fragrance, just pleasant, airy, cold aldehydes. It also reminds me of the smell from inside a church (Eastern Orthodox is all I know but I'm sure they smell similar). I really like it. I keep smelling myself and feel like I'm transported to another planet. I sense a very slight sweetness too. This is definitely quite unisex, maybe leaning feminine.

Interesting scent. To me it smells like an antique consignment store when you get to a section with a bunch of bisque dolls that are yellowed to time. It def give an old dank and damp vibe. It smells like something I've smelled before but I can't quite place it. I also agree it smells churchy in a dark abandoned way. It reminds me of the feeling Nicole Dollanganger gives off but a little darker. Maybe more toward the witch house genre. Which is fitting for the concept of the perfume.

Someone below said this smells like a bicycle seat in the summer. Not only that, but he has 3 balloons to boot! A lot of people agree with him. Soooo... who are all these people going around sniffing bicycle seats? Is this acceptable behavior these days? A sign of the times, I guess... These are strange times we live in. Strange indeed. I like it. I don't think it smells like Avignon. Its brighter. I don't know if it smells like bike seats. I wish no one did.

At first, it burns my nose, and I have to stop smelling it because of the spiciness, which was off-putting. After it settles down and the spicy top notes go away, it matures into a sweet, metallic kind of smell. Not sickly sweet but a moderate sweetness that's fresh and aromatic with hints of metal, which I enjoy. Its sillage is okay, and longevity is quite good. Overall, a good pick.

I like this. I can only describe this as a freshy for fall. It's woody, earthy in a very realistic way.. I can smell a river. It's great. I think on a man this would shine... I might get it for the fall, but it could very well be a signature for a goth person or someone with an eccentric style. very strong. I'm craving more from this line.

Very cold and sharp metallic on open, in a pleasant way. However, the dry down is identical to my “balsam fir” yankee candle. I love this candle, but maybe more as a room scent than something I want to smell like myself. Edit: Hour 4 and it smells IDENTICAL to MM by the fireplace to me

so bright and kind of scary. can't tell if it's fresh or dank. reminds me of a wax pen, but not in a bad way. very strange how it both feels so realistically organic-think woods after a cool rain-and like something processed/inorganic like glue or rubber tires.

this smells like a morgue where computers go to die. its very metallic and cold, makes me think of the drawers they put the bodies in, or like mildew. its unsettling and creepy, which makes me drawn to it, but i dont know when or if id wear this

Very good. It is a nice fragrance, but very similar to the CdG Incense series. If you smelled Tokyo or Zagorsk that would be the kind of smell you would get. Elemy all the way.

smells like being an athiest in church. eucalyptus, wax, soap. very cold. blair witch but the remake where there was a drone for some reason.

Reviewing bottle from 2023 (older black bottle) Craft was launched in 2010. Opens with a blast of aldehydic pine and citrus (? bergamot). Soapy florals peak through - lavender maybe some iris and carnation. The base is cedar, musk, oakmoss and patchouli. This fragrance is a cold fougere - soapy and piney. Quality is good 3/5 Performance is beast 5/5 Unisex but leans slightly masculine. I am surprised that in all the preceding reviews it has not been mentioned that this smells exactly like Felce Azzura.This was first launched as a fragrance in Italy in 1923. It was ubiquitous in post war Italy mostly famous for the talc and various soaps. This fragrance is chilling. To be fair ,Andrea Maack created this as an air scent for an art installation not as a perfume. I tested it in my diffuser and the pine scent in the room was in fact intoxicating. Overall, a cold soapy fougere. Better for a room diffuser( albeit a very expensive one) than on skin. Consider Felce Azzura talc powder/bath products for the same experience on the body. 5/10

How interesting to see other reviews claiming that Craft smells of incense and reminds them of an old cathedral. I wish that is what I got from this fragrance--I love incense notes! Alas, on my skin, Craft lands solidly in the aquatic, aldehydic, and metallic realm. At first spritz, I get a lovely mix of all the notes listed, leaning more into the aldehydes and woody/earthy/resin notes. Unfortunately, this dissipates after the first half hour or so. What remains is something quite astringent. Thankfully, it is not so strong as to be headache inducing or that I felt compelled to scrub it, so I let it play out for hours to see if it might pass. Unfortunately, no. Cedar and other wood notes tend to last forever on my skin, so I was surprised to find after that first short-lived blast of wood and wet greenery, I was left with only that screechy, astringent note sitting fairly close to the skin. It does actually give the impression of metal, as if I am biting steel--which is not something I particularly want. I don't hate it...but I also never want to wear it again. Given what I see in other reviews, I am guessing this is a case of unfortunate skin chemistry. Too bad for me, as that first half hour was lovely.

I’ve tried Andrea Maack’s fragrances a few times over the years and thinking that my taste may have changed I tried it again, but I have given up— we just aren’t compatible. I would love if these were home scents or candles. I like many of the scents but I can’t see wearing them - there is a laundry or air freshener vibe in all of them, except maybe Entrance and Coven, that I can’t get past. They are also skin scents and barely there. If someone was wearing these around me id think it it was their clothes not their fragrance The one thing I do love about Craft is the patchouli combined with metal and aldehydes. Super futuristic and modern, but not enough to remove it from home product category for me. I obviously have a style /scent profile preference although I like to think I’m open to everything.

In the early 2000's Bliss released a line of limited edition lotions for the holidays called Snow Wonder. This reminds me SOOOO much of it. That bubbly champagne type clean with a powdery dry down. To be fair I tried a lot of Andrea Maack fragrances and I don't think this house is for my nose. But I am looking forward to trying craft around the new year to see if it gives me the same uplifting sparkle the lotion once did.

definitely not loud or projecting. What immediately came to my mind when smelling this is Chanel No. 5 with it's prominent aldehydes. These aldehydes are all that are really coming through on my skin and they are so similar to Chanel No. 5's aldehydic notes, in my opinion.

I don’t know how or why, but this smells exactly like a museum gift shop. It also reminds me of specific antique shops; not musky and dank, but the ones run by very proud and sweet old women. This doesn’t smell like an old woman perfume, just the antique store she runs.

rather than ice cold and metallic on me it felt more like a woody, incensy, patchouli smell. i guess there is some slight coldness from what smelled like eucalyptus but just not really what i was expecting. its still a bit interesting but not really my thing

The silage is WEAK. Any fragrance which advertises itself as having huge silage ("Craft has huge silage") and this fragrance is what we get has lost my trust.

I really wish I liked this. Unfortunately, the elemi was a little too much for me and overtook the fragrance.

At first sniff, this instantly reminded me of a wax melt fragrance my grandma used to use in her house. Also smells like a paper bag of potpourri she had. I feel like this is a smell ive experienced several times before in the homes of those who appreciate classic Americana, vintage, rustic farmhouse aesthetics. It smells like that section at a flea market that is stacked to the brim with decor, potpourri and candles on an antique wood shelf. I think that comes from the elemi, patchouli and cedar woody notes. But don't let that correlation deter you, because craft is a beautifully unique fragrance just like the rest of Andrea Mack's collection. It is perfectly wearable, and would give an insane aura. It sits very softly on the skin, but there is still a cold, earthy, (I guess that's metallic) zing to it. Craft really does feel like a steamy cloud or a foggy forest with metallic trees. This is definitely something to test out because you might not imagine the notes to smell how they actually do. Craft is a very interesting fragrance that has me continuously sniffing the back of my hand. I would love to spray this on to actually fully experience it, but I can't see myself putting this at the top of my full bottle list at the moment. Perhaps I'll look for a decant. Oh and this is perfect for early fall vibes.

Yes Craft is instantly reminiscent of incense fragrances such as Cardinal, full incense, Avignon...etc...etc However the top notes of aldehydes make for a truly cold blast which I find to be even more minimal and metallic at first...but that could just be my imagination. When It dries down a little and this coldness subsides slightly it's pretty much exactly the same elemi/frankincense/cedar vibe of the aforementioned fragrances. I've said it once and I'll say it again....How many times does this fragrance have to be replicated??? The same could be said for many combinations of notes and similar fragrances but this just seems to be one I notice more. I'm not nay saying either because I love the smell of this fragrance and I'd definitely wear it...just spoiled for choice as to which one to get? I can't base it on longevity or projection because they're all very similar in that department too...It will have to be purely based on priced.

Craft for me is not really a perfume. Id classify it almost as anti-perfume, in the lines of Comme des Garcons Synthetic series. It is a scent, but it is quite industrial. It smells of mixture of things things- metal, clay, oil, wooden shavings, a factory assembly line, a mixture of old and new, a wooden, cracking floor in a museum, an inside of an old church. I used to do pottery a few years ago and that's how the studio smelled like as well. Very metallic woody. Aquatic? Not necessarily. A scent of the industrial era, perhaps? I dont really know how to classify Craft. It is the most unusual fragrance I have tested in a long while. It seems as if there were no natural ingredients in this one. It smells of art. It definitely smells more of ideas rather than the perfume ingredients. And although I find the concept highly intriguing, the perfume itself is completely and utterly unwearable.

Smells like a really good bicycle seat in the summertime. I detect the metal for sure along with other things that could resemble the nylon, plastic and padding that comes with a saddle seat. This is that moment where you have to ask yourself if you want to wear an experiment or a perfume. For those that are into the fragrant aspect of the composition can rest assure that this is appropriately listed as a woody aquatic. The patchouli is short lived and resides at the top. The cedar is the Mahatma and should be applauded for its clothlike presence. The texture alone will sell bottles. While most will focus on the suave nature, I directed my attention to the aldehydes which are used like a flower growing from the concrete. It's interesting how something so dazzling can be so smothered. Crafty it is but not sure how i feel about it.

There’s an aldehyde that bears the unsexy name of 2-methyl undecanal, or C12 MNA. It’s a powerful, chilly "pine" scent that screams “bathroom cleaner” when dosed too high and it's a big player in incense fragrances like Avignon but it needs a delicate touch for it to work. Craft uses way too high a dose of C12 and it leaves a bitter metallic aftertaste in its wake. This is basically Avignon in a funhouse mirror: distorted, unbalanced, and rendered somewhat ugly. It relies on the same meditative balsamic elemi as Avignon, but the C12 is so strong that it ruins any chance at contemplation. It would be the equivalent of dragging a trash can into a temple and then hammering away until someone calls the cops. For me, this is a headache in a bottle and an example of how not to work with aldehydes.

A very sweet, light incense. In the initial dry down phase, this smelled more sweet and powdery, almost medicinal. Like the juxtaposition in children's medicine of syrup trying and failing to cover bitterness. It was a bit strange, though not offensive. Now that it's dry, there's something almost citrusy about it. The aldehydes are there, albeit ever so gently. The woods round out the background, giving a skin like impression. It's seamlessly blended and a very wearable incense, that's just barely churchy. It remains sweet and wears close to the skin. I like it, but I prefer my incense more smokey than airy. If your taste leans more clean, and incense falls outside your comfort zone, I think this would be a nice way to bridge the gap.

There’s something about Craft from Andrea Maack that feels sleek and reflective, like the soaring chrome spires of a retrofuturistic sci-fi megastructure and its mechanized cybernetic inhabitants. It’s a cool, bloodless scent, like frost flowers on glass, and wintry chilled metal. I hadn’t read the description prior to writing down these thoughts and now I’m simultaneously pleased and peeved because I picked up on this perfume’s vibe to such an extent I’ve almost quoted the website’s copy about jet packs and robots right back at you. This is one of those instances when it seems the concept and the execution align in an almost preternaturally perfect way... like the android overlords have implanted these ideas directly into my brain!

I don't really get the connection to L'Opheline apart from that this is also slightly aldehydic. This is a really fresh and light citrusy almost incense in the vein of like Reve D'Ossian if it was diluted a heck ton and less heavy and more citrusy. I have tried many incense perfumes and this is still unique compared to all of them including Reve. This is however really light/a little weak. I dowsed myself in sample bottle sprays to lightly smell it around myself which could be fault of the little sprayer and not the fragrance. It would be good for office wear because it is so light but as someone who has many incense fragrances, It doesn't stand out in performance.

It's funny when the description reads as very strange and striking, then backtracks a bit to save face and calls it very wearable. Craft is at least the first half of that- it' metallic and full of zingy aldehydes, and I think someone down below is correct in their association with a faux-leather or rubber seat cushion that's been sitting in the sun all day. It feels like a strange structure around elemi, which defines its spicy, balsamic, citrusy core. Everything else is propping up this ingredient on skinny, transparent legs, complimenting those aromas in subtle ways. It's alarming and not exactly fresh. It's cold, but tingly in an uncomfortable way.

I got a sample of this over the winter, and want to get a full bottle although I have no idea when the right time to wear this would be. It is very cold, and similar to Avignon, but a superior scent in my opinion. I applied as I would Avignon (3-4 sprays), and longevity and sillage were pretty monstrous on me. To my embarrassment, a coworker smelled it in her office hours after I had been in there. She said it smelled good. I swore off wearing it to work though. I think I'm too self conscious to be known as the weird, cold, metallic incense perfume guy. It is a very high quality composition and unique. Might translate well to the art gallery crowd.

I have close to 40 perfumes and this is in my top 3 for sure. I've smelt nothing like this before. The opening is very sharp and metalic but as that tones down it gives this feeling like you're standing outside and can smell and feel cold, icy air, some snow and ice is starting to slowly melt around you and you can start to smell the nature poking out from the melting ice, also in the distance incense is being burnt but the cold frosty air has taken the sharp smoky aspect of the incense away making it smell like a really fresh, non smoky incense.just beautiful

Alas, I made the fatal error of blinding buying and was left disappointed. I thought I knew what I was getting, however this turned out to be a Comme Des Garcons Standard clone with the damp moss, wet sock mildew accord that L’Orpheline has. It's not bad at all, it's just too woodsy for me. I prefer the industrial clean, fresh composition that Comme Des Garcons Standard offers. Standard also gives you 50ml more fragrance for $55 less and even came out a year BEFORE Andrea Maack's Craft.
