Magnolys

At first spray, Magnolys has a bit of a sharp, bitter bite. Though the opening is not the most pleasant, it is so worth the wait. After a few minutes, Magnolys develops into a very pretty, perky, fruity floral. On my skin, my nose can detect magnolia (sweet and without the usual waxiness found in other magnolia fragrances), the slight spiciness of black currant, and just a tinge of ylang ylang. This is such a great choice for magnolia lovers. I'll admit that there isn't anything particularly unique about Magnolys. As others have mentioned, it's shampooey and soapy. But the reason why I bought a bottle is because it is a fresh fruity floral that actually projects and stays on my skin for hours. In fact, the scent of this stays the same in the cold winter weather (and yes, I have used this during Christmas time whenever I start longing for the warmth of spring and summer). Furthermore, I love how Magnolys can lift up my spirits. I feel revitalized when I spray this on a hot summer day. I loved what Roge said below about Magnolys being a gender bender. Magnolys is an obvious choice for females, but I would love to smell this on a male. Something about it reminds me of some high quality, hair grooming products for men.

Start sour with a pesto of stalks and flowers. Rather citrus with the sunny note and the consistency of shampoo bubbles. It moves from watery to woody, improving on the skin above all. Sage and nutmeg are there to "darken" without succeeding, turning from shampoo to shampoo for baldness. Boring result. Sorry.

Fruity opening with blackcurrant and peach blossom segues into a sharp laundry detergent floral that only slightly smells like magnolia. Blech.

Who freed me? Abraham Lincoln, Cadillac or Magnolys? As a heterosexual man, the notes and accords suggest that I am not to partake; for years I obeyed. "You're too brauny", "Your skin is too thick" or "Real men don't wear florals." I listened to both sides but the fragrance itself told me otherwise. Wearing this creation, I had no idea that I was re-writing my own story. On a clear day, you can detect Magnolys from where a person is standing to the stop sign at the end of the street. All superlatives aside, this is stronger than what the baby faced notes suggests and dare i say a conduit to a new reality. This opens like a Jo Malone product furnished with bright blooming florals with an almost edible peach accord. The slightly less than warm spices suggest that this could appeal to those fond of woody frags. The ylang ylang almost never disappoints adding that soft peeled quality which is probably the reason why I like this so much. Just a really nice well rounded scent that was likely created for the ups and downs you may go through in your life. With an open mind, this can be a true gender bender and something worth adding to your "I want list." Solar notes aside, this is the Sun God, let it warm you.

It's like I'm wearing a weirdly textured and uncomfortable white polyester dress covered in bright plastic flowers with screeching red lipstick, lots of lotion, and a silly hat. --- But not to a garden party in the summer -- to an art opening at night. And it's cold out. You know? Kind of the wrong dress for the occasion. Meaning: it feels out of place on me! I don't know enough about perfume to say if it is blended well or if it's actually a super fine perfume, so please don't take my word for it. I just did not respond well to the strong flowers. I don't get clean or water at all, unfortunately.

A beautiful, elegant scent that smells very clean, blue, watery. I wear it year round but it is definitely beautiful in the summer. Brings back memories of when I was a child and we visited Montauk during summer vacation... definitely more ocean than flower. Truly a luxury scent.
