Ducalis

Now that I could try some of the perfumes of the Ángela Ciampagnas collection i am realizing that the salty, fresh, Green and aquatic perfumes are their speciality, specially the salty ones. Un this case we find a perfume where this salty feeling is mixed with flowers like the rose, the geranium ir the Lily of the valley on a very subtle way. In the background a Woody and spicy vibe with very slight animalic touches of leather wich make the perfume become a bit dirty and overall a Metallic feeling from the start to the end. The perfume gives to me a relaxing and fresh feeling. It is not intense ir powerful and there is no sweetness in here. I think It shares some soul with perfumes like douleur by Vogue Profumo but much more lighter. It is a very nice summer/spring scent, to wear principally on day time and which could work Well as a signature fragance for everyday wearings. Salted flowers with a variety of herbs from the herb garden. A very peculiar perfume. Attractive and repulsive at the same time. For lonely walks on the beach in late summer. Fragrance 6.5/10, longevity 7/10, sillage 7/10, flacon 9/10.

I bought Ducalis blindly during an online promotion while I was ordering other items. The listed notes sounded quite aligned with my tastes, so I decided to take the opportunity. However, once I tried it, the result on my skin did not match my expectations at all, even though I generally enjoy many different fragrance styles. Personally, I struggle to recognize the notes described in the pyramid, especially those that should bring sweetness, such as rose, mimosa, ylang-ylang, or sandalwood. Instead of these softer and warmer elements, what I perceive most is something marine and spicy, almost balsamic. There is a sharp and slightly piercing note that stays with me constantly. From time to time, something rounder and smoother appears, but it quickly fades back into the background. It is definitely a noticeable fragrance and not discreet, particularly in an office environment. To my nose, it also leans slightly feminine — my partner actually wore it today. That said, it does not resemble anything else in my collection, which makes it interesting and somewhat unique. I should also mention that the bottle and the cap are very stylish and well designed. If I had tested it beforehand, I probably would not have purchased it. Nevertheless, I am still glad to have added it to my collection, and I plan to wear it more to better understand it over time.

I’m sad to say I don’t love it. I’m not getting any of the fresh, salty or floral notes other people are mentioning. Not even the geranium which can be hard to hide. What I smell are the base notes, the Western type Oud also mentioned by others here which is concocted from a mix of amber, leather or musk notes that I’m just not enjoying. It’s actually pretty headache inducing. I have smelled other fragrances in this line that I really like so moving on...

Rose, geranium and salty notes are the most bold notes on this perfume, and some woody notes are discernible at the background. It’s a unique fragrance and is very difficult to remember similar perfumes. Also is a hot whether perfume and is usable by any gender, any occasion by casual style.

Appears aquatic with salty notes. This is very linear & easy going one. Something very designerish which we can expect from Salvatore Ferragamo/ Armani Aqua/Bvlgari series

The whole Angela Ciampagna line reminds me of Rania J’s line — well put together blends for the most part, but a tad dated-smelling and too removed from my own preferences. Ducalis reminds me the most of Rania J’s overall aesthetic (a line that is similarly distanced from my style), only this one’s quite unpleasant. What makes it unpleasant is the over reliance on dryness that’s the result of a norlimbanol kind of material (lots of it) — an aroma chemical so harsh that it’ll sear your nostrils and knock your nose out of commission for a few hours if you smell too much of it. Although there’s no risk involved of that happening here, the effect is just too forceful. It's as though it's being deployed as a featured note rather than a background effect which is not a good move at all. The rest of the scent seems to be a earthy, botanical, almost fungal take on oud, thrown together from a bunch of different notes: rose, pine notes, leather. It somewhat maps onto the style of Rania’s Oud, and perhaps even Piguet’s Oud, but it’s not a patch on Rania’s yet it's several levels above the Piguet (which is a hideous, hideous perfume). If it wasn’t for the norlimabol spill, this might be more tolerable, but I’m struggling to understand this scent’s place in the lineup. It’s the worst of the line for me by far.

Every time salt is in a fragrance, I seem to imagine that it lasts all throughout the scent. I do like it, though. The heart of Ducalis seems to be a mimosa, ylang-ylang backed with some floral notes on a bed of wood (Nox, Kanat, etc.). Nice, but very common from this creator according to the sample package I purchased. The base of this fragrances is a very nice rosey, wood mix. This reminded me of the more acquatic House of Matriarch’s Albatross from what I can remember, but with more flowers. Ciampagna’s fragrances are really nice, have great projection, but I felt slightly shortchanged from these repeat groupings of notes. Very nice, but not sure I’d purchase.

Ducalis is the typical iteration of oud westerner style that relies on sharp dry woods and spices. Think about a slightly less aggressive Montale and you're there. Cedarwood, synth-mysky-leather, norlimbanol (or any other similar woodyamber) *adorned* by subtle florals such as a rosy pattern and maybe some geranium and with an overall aquatic vibe. If you like Montale's style or certain Nasomattos, you might dig this one but for me, Ducalis is way too late to the party. Potent, aggressive and extremely long lasting. Probably my least favorite in this otherwise fantastic range. Rating: 4,5-5/10

Like a fresh lenin washed by the sea. Salt is cool to be honest but I get why some would shy away. I think salt is fun, pink himalayan...just gobble it up. Heck I will lick a salt lamp. Try it, it's not bad. I digress. This is nice honestly. I don't feel like owning it, but it's been hard not to lick it off my hand. No real notes listed stand out but the salt. Well blended florals, and maybe some nutmeg. It feels like taking a shower with a vague white soap after swimming on the ocean. I would prefer the salt baked skin of say Theros.

Ducalis begins as an air refresher of Lenin for a little while then turns into party foam spray. It's quite artificial and complex with weird smell. It could be a good perfume when taken seriously but i really wonder, what was the idea behind it? as i begun after a while smelling car washing soap and soap on tires! it travels between 2 locations but the soap remains the intersect.

Immediately, I get an MFK accord that I cannot shake. It’s that stock rose-geranium with the sweet floral notes. I love this kind of scent, adore it even, but I already own about 5 MFKs so I have this already. Still amazing, still worth checking out, but me – I’ve smelt this movie before.

Totally agree with Alfarom on this one.I loved the salty,aquatic vibe(which is present in some of the other fragrances from the brand),which gave an unexpected freshness to the rose-oud-wood mix,but overall this felt unoriginal, sharp and aggressive.Not for me.
