Animale for Men

For me, this fragrance is fascinating from start to finish. Animale for Men has the characteristic of being refreshing and powerful at the same time, and it earns me many compliments when I wear it. It is classified as oriental-spicy, but in my opinion, it is much more of an aromatic-fougère, as it has notes of lavender and oakmoss. On my skin, it has the junction of two worlds: the fruity and the woody. I feel pineapple notes, although it is not listed in its composition. The leather notes of the base are not too exaggerated, while the notes of vetiver and geranium bring a beautiful result. For me, Animale for Men follows the line of Burberry for Men, although they are different in several aspects. I think it should go into any collection, at least once. Finally, it remains to be said that it exudes and lasts very well!

This is a fragrance I love and always will. It brings me back to the old days as teen when life was all about having fun and trying to hook up with girls. This fragrance was something affordable and a real compliment getter. Honestly I was all about Animale and Kenzo because it was different. While all the other guys were taking a bath in Drakkar Noir I had a completely different sent going on. I know this is a love /hate type of scent but for me it will always be part of my collections. It smells good to me, I like the price and bottom line it still gets complements every time I wear it. Sillage: projects moderately for me Longevity: Long lasting on my skin Complements: Just about every time it is worn Again this is my take on what I like and Animale may not be for everyone but for me I still love the stuff.

Just a fresh, flowery and clean scent, on the opening, the citrus of the lemon is very noticeable, followed by the clean fresh floral note of lavender and the geranium. To me, this fragrance smells just like clean clothes and a twist of lemon, it's from '93 but I wouldn't say it's dated at all since it is a pretty youthful scent with a hint of floral. Very nice for spring and, fall and maybe even summer, nice starter signature indeed, for its price it is pretty nice and very easy to wear. As for performance, it has a moderate sillage, a pretty nice longevity for a fresh fragrance and a good value for what it is. It wouldn't be fair to compare it to any of nowadays fragrances, the industry has evolved a lot throughout the years and that's something important to keep in mind when reviewing classics.

I have used this cologne since the early 90’s I can say of all the colognes in my collection this one gets the most compliments, and I have 120+ in my collection and some of the big names such as Versace and Armani. This starts out sweet citrus and dries down to a leather and wood mildly sweet but manly fragrance. On me this is a beast it last all day 12+ hours and the Sillag is very long as well 6+ hours. My wife even gets a little jealous when women out of nowhere come up ask me what I’m wearing. Yes it is dated, but when something smells great does it really matter? But....the good news is this fragrance is really affordable and still available. Try it the people around you will love it!

It is very strange to me that Animale For Men is classified as an oriental spicy; first off, it does not contain any spices whatsoever; secondly, its aroma is completely fruity and flowery with animalic and earthy accords; and thirdly, it doesn't share any similarities with Opium Pour Homme, Jaïpur Homme, and Bvlgari Man in Black, which are actual oriental perfumes due to the number of spices there are in them (they also contain vanilla and/or tonka), as well as the warm aura they provide the user with. In my opinion, this scent should belong to a different olfactory group, and I reckon many other perfume lovers agree with me. Happy sniffing.

Ohh my Love. This was my first original scent ever back in 1994. I remember that after buying it I was knocked out with the flowery notes that evolved to reveal the beautiful heart and base that I still remember after 16 years. Thought it resembled CK Escape at that time. I remember I received tons of compliments cos it wasn't well-known then. I asked a friend of mine to get me another one, but instead he got me Animale Animale, but of course that's a different story... Sillage : simply wow Longevity : 4+ hours Feeling : Powerful Feedback : Compliments galore Now I don't know where I can find this gem...

Not bad at all... flowery ...sub lemony... i like it in my memorie. I'm born in the city with the most romantic spring. It is situated in Southern Europe, in the north zone of Mediterranean climate and on the side of all streets are linden trees. This frag reminds me of that time when we are wearing cheap and dirty leather jackets, that keeped the smell of dropped over limonade and the aftersmell of the perfume of our teenage girlfriends after tight hugs. For an eventuell future flanker I will suggest just to add little mint and weed taste... and Njoy!

This is so awesome and fresh! I do feel some mint when first sprayed, and I really enjoy the fruity notes (I can sense some watermelon and strawberries in it!) blended with lavender; plus, sillage is great, and longevity is good. That said, I like Animale a lot, as well as Animale Animale, and sometimes I can't tell which is better! (I usually lean more on Animale Animale, though.)

If Nikos Skulpture and Dirk by Bikkenbergs had a baby, Animale is the baby. I was pleasantly suprised by fresh and aromatic smell which definetly has that 90's vibe but now is still modern. It is for everyday and anytime of the year.

I smelled this in the perfume store. I kinda like it. To me it smelled a bit like new shoes. I never tried it on my skin though.

Updates, Hats off to Animale no reformulation here. They stick to the original menu he can’t go wrong with this one.

Animale for Men (not to be confused with the vastly different Animale Animale for Men...oof, they didn't think that one all the way through!) is your classic early '90s "sport" fragrance. It is, in fact, much "sportier" than its 2014 flanker named as such, with a citrusy opening and lavender drydown not unlike that of Polo Sport, Aqua Quorum, or Wings. The main difference in Animale is the neroli note, which sweetens up the opening considerably and gives it its own character. Don't get it twisted, though; this fragrance still gives off a strong locker-room vibe, though not in an unpleasant way. I could see high schoolers from back in the day applying this after PE class. Performance on Animale is...really good! It has clearly survived whatever reformulations it might have gone through, still serving out heavy projection with longevity of 8+ hours on my skin. Ultimately, I think I'll stick with my beloved Aqua Quorum for my '90s "sport" fragrance fix, but if you're into the genre and are looking for a nostalgia fix then you'd definitely like this one.

This definitely reminds me of Silver Scent by JB. The lemony, spicy opening with the neroli upfront is here. I do get some lavender, geranium and leathery accords. Overall, not a bad fragrance at all. It's definitely worthy of a blind buy imho. I don't think that I'll buy it again. I'd say that Silver Scent does better in terms of performance, but hey, that's Jacques Bogart for you. Anyway, I do like this scent. It's refreshing, not beastly, but moderate performance and projection. Safe for anytime wear. Very uplifting and easy. The bottle cap does leak. I have the 6.7oz bottle. Tacky bottle I must say. Sprayer really needs updating. Seriously. Wth??? This is definitely 1980's or 90's. I could see Bruce Willis wearing this just starting out in the Seagrams Golden Wine Coolers commercials of 1985, but he's since moved on to something like Baccarat. Anyway, Happy spraying, all. Scent 3.5/5. Longevity 3/5. Projection 2.75/5. Value 5/5.

I had this one back in the early 2000's, when I was in my early 20's. I was not a fan of this back then, as the scent, bottle and whole theme turned me off. Recently, I have acquired a handful of these bottles by coincidence as they were bundled with other used fragrances I bought online. I have tried it out again. Wow, things have changed with my feelings about this one. Not that this scent is so amazing, but the name "Animale" is right about one thing: it's beastly! This fragrance is strong as hell and lasts forever on me. The scent is really interesting and masculine, and I have yet to really wear it out and see people's reactions to this 90's classic. I can't wait. A nice re-discovery.

On the one hand, it smells like a generic mens fragrance. A bit of a scrubber. There's something about that makes me like it better than many of its sort, but if I were going to wear something like this I'd probably just wear Platinum Egoiste, Blue Jeans, or maybe Givenchy Very Irresistable Eau Fraiche. Part me likes this fragrance, and part of me thinks it's a weird blend of Platinum Egoiste and Allure Homme Sport, but more in the league of a Nautica scent or something. In any event, I bought it because I love the style of the bottles and it was inexpensive enough for me to buy it for that reason. It's also kind of cheap, but I prefer Animale Animale.

I first smelled this one in the early nineties, and I liked it very much. It was fashionable back then, because it followed the trend of the 90s; it was similar to other fruity scents, such as Polo Sport (Animale is spicier, but they are quite similar; I have tested them side by side). I never used it until recent years. I just bought a second bottle, because it was insanely cheap, but it kind of feels dated to me (just as Polo Sport). Nevertheless, it's a good scent, fruity, spicy, with excellent projection and longevity for such an inexpensive fragrance.

I was disappointed to find out that this smells like Polo Sport and Drakkar Essence. I like the scent but i don't love it. and I already had what i needed from this kind of scent with Polo Sport let alone Essence....NOW THIS. you never guess the two would smell so similar (Animale and Sport) but looking at the Notes breakdown (Sport is way more complex) a reminder that until you smell it there is no way of knowing if you will like it.....i waiting on Animale Animale which is supposed to smell like Mugler's A*Men....we'll see

Easily the best value in my collection. This one gets compliments. The pump is garbage, but hasn't stopped working. Think twelfth grade gym class in the middle of the schoolday with a few hours to go. This is THE cologne to put on to get you through the day. It's like a top of the line Avon product without that telltale giveaway Avon scent. Perfectly fine for any age. Fresh and inoffensive with a hint of animal muskiness that I'm probably getting from the base notes. A great starter for a young man's collection.

This is one to be a signature if you're just starting with perfumes. Very aromatic, and may work during the colder months because of its potency. This is a powerhouse; it lasts, projects, and smells super pleasant. Aromatic is the definition here, but it goes on a pretty synthetic way, too. I'd recommend this as blind buy worthy since your can get it for so cheap ~$20 from discounter for a 100ml bottle. The atomizers on these are awful, though.

this is the smell of a slutty man, this fukboy will devore you with his eyes, His between 20-60 years ols, a bit homosexual and a vary active sexual life. This said, there's something in this fragrance that wake's up an inner anger on myself, i don't know, is the type of smell that can put mein a bad mood, isn't disconfortable to be around, is something tha make me feel animalic, i personaly wouldn't wear, but some friend love this.

Gives "Jock from the 90s" vibe. Smells like teen spirit, literally. This fragrance is bottled youth, I love the green and flowery smell, and I love it even more that they made it so masculine and cheap for what it offers. My personal fragrance for daily use, can't go wrong with this nostalgic classic in hot weather like Brazil. Very empowering and energetic with a good perfomance for its class and price. Would recommend 100%

Vintage formula: its quite similar .....mmmm....let’s say...to lots of the above listed .....but let me tell you something....”similar” not close at any point of getting them confused with others....this is a quite unique scent and it can clearly nowadays have a place in the niche perfumery industry - it does bring me back to the 90s where perfumes where really good 😊. Please try the vintage parlux formula

This is different to CW or Tres Nuit because it has a pronounced leather note unlike them from the start till dry down. This one is clean, almost minty with neroli sweetening. Later you get the animalic leather. It can remind you of a shoe store, youngster in a custom Civic, a college locker room all with a bit of sophistication, hence any age can wear it.

One day, me and my co-worker, Jackie, went to work and from the door we smelled something wonderful, we followed the smell, got to my boss and asked: "what are you wearing?", he simply said: "ANIMALE" and we said it was gorgeous and we smelled it for 2 meters, I had never smelled a man like that in my life.

I really enjoy Animale for Men because it has a bold, masculine scent that stands out and lasts for hours. The blend of fresh citrus, spices, and rich woods gives it a classic, confident character without feeling outdated. For the price, I think it's one of the best values in men's fragrances.

It's nice, fresh, very sportive, but relatively simple and generic. It's ideal for informal situations. I'd use it to practice sports. Projection is strong on the first hour. Longevity is short. Price is good.

I bought this based on the reviews and I'm highly disappointed. I'm at a lost for words but it reminds me of another fragrance that I've smelled though I can't remember what.

Too powerful, so much so that I can be irritating. Perhaps suitable for those who want a powerful, masculine fragrance.

Cloying and screechy. Dries down to the overused fresh/clean/sporty smell.

Terrible vegetal smell. Smells like the Jolly Green Giant's Junk.

I dislike this fragrance so much. It wouldn't be horrible as a gym fragrance. I like ones that are inexpensive, and considering I bought a 6.8 oz bottle for $30, I thought it would be decent, but it reminds me of those cheap adidas fragrances. This might be okay for a teenager or preteen but definitely not for anyone 16+.

No joke, this reminds me of the smell on my hands after handling bluegill during a fishing trip. I recently got into fragrances this year back around July and this is the first of almost 300ish combined bottles and decants I have gotten that has been viscerally revolting.

This is an aromatic fresh and fruity cologne seasoned with light spices on the top notes. To me, the heart of this scent smells much like apple peel (maybe the juniper berries?), freshened by the moss and vetiver in the base. It's not very natural though... If the temperature gets warmer, I can clearly smell the mint note, wich most of the time remains hidden or outshined by the other notes. The longevity is a negative issue in this one, at least on my skin. I get only 4 to 5 hours and I didn't find the projection very good either, but these could be due to olfactory fatigue, because at the very first time that I wore this one, I got some compliments from ladies and guys, and even from my girlfriend, who usually doesn't like fragrances that I do like. Honestly, I don't really care much about this one. I've bought it because of its almost legendary reputation here in Brazil for its purpose in eliciting positive responses from the ladies. I wanted to check out if that was true, and for some reason, they indeed seem to turn on when they smell Animale. In my opinion, however, Animale is nothing more than just an above average casual summer/spring fragrance. Rate: 6.5/10 -------------------------------------------------- UPDATE I am getting more longevity with this now, maybe 7 or 8 hours. After wearing Animale for men a bunch of times, I find that I now like this one a lot more. There is something in this cologne that is just plain addictive. In fact, it's so easy and pleasant to wear, despite its relative simplicity, that I can't help but find myself wearing this scent more and more often. This fragrance is versatile enough to be worn for any ocasion, be it casual or formal, and in any season too, although it may still be more suitable for warmer weather. That being said, women indeed praise this one. Rate: 7.5/10

Starts off like Calvin Klein's Eternity for men, a big blast of green, but within minutes has already moved more towards Polo Sport but with less of a medicinal or seaweed feel. If you like Polo Sport but didn't like the seaweed and medicinal opening, this is a lighter and fresher alternative. The neroli here is biting, pungent and sharp with the lemon and freesia doing little to off-balance its sourness, allowing it to dominate the blend. The juniper berries add a subtle suggestion of fruitiness underneath the neroli, adding a bit of character to a light and high-pitched aromatic fougere standard pyramid. What you get is mostly a green, grassy feel with sweet lemon, fruity juniper berries, florals and soft lavender and oakmoss. They dry down continues to the dominance of the top and heart but with a soft leather vibe and a very subdued scent trail. Longevity is solid at between 6-11 hours and sillage is moderate for the first four hours before becoming soft. A fresh aromatic fougere that is a nice one to own if you like both Calvin Klein Eternity and Polo Sport and want something that meets both towards the middle.

Blind bought this today. Of course, in typical "cart before the horse" fashion, I read the reviews after. Had a few moments of trepidation about the top with all the comments about the "new shoe" smell. I worried needlessly. This is a wonderful frag, very much, to my nose at least, in the same vein as Carven Pour Homme, CW and GIT (what immediately came to mind). As far at the GIT comparison goes, this one, interestingly enough, omits the top green notes that are in GIT and goes straight to base and stays there. I also find it very similar Carven PH (which, to my nose, is also in the same GIT realm but without the GIT top notes) but lacks the additional fruitiness that I detect in the Carven offering. I get better longevity with this over either GIT (30 min max) or Carven PH (1-2 hours), am going on three hours and I can still detect it from time to time. Overall, well mannered, well constructed and well priced and mis-named. While there are no animalic notes, (much to my disappointment), Animale is a viable alternative to those who are a fan of the genre but tired of GIT, CW or Carven PH.

Another cheap blind buy, but a successful one! Animale smells different for an early 90's fragrance. It has a feel of the 80's powerhouse fragrances but the upcoming clean and aromatic fragrances of the 90's. It is done very well though. I get a very clean, animalic, floral scent with this. The freesia and orange give it a spicy bright citrus opening while the lavender, geranium, and juniper berries adds a clean floral almost green scent. The dry down makes it a leathery clean and gives a sort of sophistication to the fragrance. I wouldn't call it an oriental spicy but a fresh spicy floral scent. It's perfect for year round, it's fresh for the warm months and spicy enough for the colder months. The bottle is very nice as well, not sure what the lightning bolt represents or what it has to do with Animale but I do like the starry night/stone look of the bottle. I'm surprised there are no animal notes in this fragrance, given the name and the fact that it has an animalic type smell, either way, a great scent!

I love this fragrance. It brings me great memories from my high school times back in 1995. I used to wear Animale For Men every day, and it was a huge success with female classmates; they gave me lots of compliments because of the way I smelled. The vintage version used to be powerful. It had monster projection and tremendous sillage back then. People could smell it from far away; even I could smell it on my clothes a few days later. In my opinion, Animale For Men is much better than Eternity For Men; it's kind of a more "cheerful" version of the classic male fragrance created by Calvin Klein. I think the current version of Animale went through a reformulation, as well as many fragrances I know. It still smells wonderful, but with lower both sillage and projection. Maybe you can find a lot of fragrances that smell very similar to Animale For Men; but this one was a hit when it was released, and it's still definitely a must have nowadays!

First things first: there's Animale for Men (this one) and Animale Animale for Men (the sweet honey tobacco one). In my case I purchased this by accident thinking it's the sweet honey tobacco scent. Was I disappointed? No. This is a 90s scent, I never knew back then but I have smelled it from neighbours / open windows etc. it gives f*ckboi energy like a review below says, it's playful and reminds me of a guy in the 90s who just got out of the shower and is getting ready for a crazy night / clubbing, wearing his back shirt. I don't know if I will use it, but it brings some 90s vibes and I like it. I do get citrus and lavender, but maybe the geranium is the key notee that turns the scent into bitter / masculine character, while being fresh - overall it's a very unique scent, it is worth a try

This reminds me of axe body spray or scented deodorant. It's a clean, overdone sporty smell -- totally contrary to what the name implies. There is definitely some complexity to it if you shove your nose into your skin and try to pick out notes, but from a distance (the distance that your audience is at), it smells like a boy's high school or middle school locker room. It's not a bad smell. It's just overdone, and I can't help but associate it with bottom shelf men's fragrances. I will probably use this to cover up bad odors in my home... but I don't see myself wearing it. Actually, it reminds me a bit of Green Irish Tweed... just way harsher, less refined, and more intense.

I really like this one and as someone stated, they stick to the same formula over many years. I've gone thru many bottles and use it as more of a day, clean fragrence and it's easy to wear anywhere and does not offend. I been wearing Tres Nuit by Armaf (what a great quality fraternal twins to a expensive house. Well, well, brilliantly done. My wife can't tell the difference) and I swear these two are close and suprised to see not as many clicked on Tres Nuit under, "smell alike". They are both very light and very pleasant. I'm more of a darker fragrance type. I like more vetiver, earthy notes so this is great but I love say Mercedes Benz Le Parfum.
