Kitsunegari

After I sprayed Kitsunegari on my arm for the first time, a remarkable procession of notes popped up in almost 3d intensity, one after the other. First there was a voluptuously beautiful orange blossom that appeared in the air all around me. Within ten or fifteen minutes that was replaced with powerful animalic notes. An earthy and musky combo of labdanum, civet and patchouli seemed to permeate everywhere and it was almost overwhelming. Finally all that mellowed out and some juicy and tart citrus took over. It was like each note was briefly on stage before leaving to make a space for the next note. And about an hour in all the notes reappeared together, but now dominated by rose. At this point the perfume becomes a deep and yet somewhat dry and woody rose with a distinctive and very pleasant animalic undertone. The orange blossom and other notes are present along with jasmine but are much minimized and totally eclipsed by the rose. It continues on like this for several more hours til it mostly fades out, leaving a beautiful trace on the skin that lasts well into the next day if it’s not washed away. I found Kitsunegari to be overall quite floral and beautiful for most of its life on the skin. It has a sophisticated feel to it of old perfumes and the bottle labels of this brand are very cool.

Kitsunegari was created by Anka Kus owner Ali in order to pay homage to the legendary Guerlain's "Habit Rouge", one of his beloved fragrances from the past. There is indeed an echo of classics and sophisticated vintage in this fragrance, but it also has a modern, very unique twist. The initial blast of crunchy citrus, powdery carnation and rose has everything to please any lover of classical, timeless, sophisticated fragrances. Fresh start is slightly tamed by the powdery side of carnation. I could even tell that there's iris, but it's not indicated in the note breakdown, so it must be carnation and perhaps its blend with vanilla. The heart is all about flowers! From subtle orange blossom, it gradually grows to Damask rose, jasmine and stronger carnation. The flowery part is deliciously complemented by an animalic touch of civet (not too much!), warm vanilla and labdanum. The base features the balsamic, resinous notes and amber with an elegant, exquisite leathery touch and a kind of eartiness and dryness, brought by patchouli and oakmoss.

upon the first smell, i realized that this smells EXACTLY like what my great aunt used to wear!! how amazing it has been to reflect on those memories with her. i have been interacting with my tester the last couple of days- it's citrusy (the initial whiff pierces you), & a bit spicy. when i first apply it, its VERY powdery/musky, but dries down sort of sweet & light. the longevity isn't anything special, but it's a very fresh smell that surrounds you as you move. it's not really my favorite scent on myself, so for me i wouldn't get a fb.
