Rose Cut

Rose cut is a very happy, luminous rose scent. I didn't know what to expect to be honest and I was really pleasantly surprised by this one, not as deep or darkly invasive as some high quality roses but not as throwaway and lightweight as others. It's quite unique as far as rose goes and has a wonderful boozy and fruity quality which is sweet and almost raspberry jam like which I really enjoyed and some gentle patchouli in the drydown. Nothing dominating anything else, bright and upbeat I have to say I loved it and couldn't stop smelling myself when wearing it. Don't get me wrong I found this too feminine for my tastes and couldn't pull it off myself, still the sample came in handy to give to my friend who loves rose. Ladies if you like roses you can't go wrong here.

So far, my favorite of the Ann Gerard perfume line. A sheer, fruity rose that settles in to a honeyed base which dirties it up just a bit. The rose has a similar treatment to the rose in Neela Vermier's Mohur(also by Duchaufour)but more sheer and sans the sandalwood. It's sweet, but not overly so, IMO. It has enough depth and personality to make it interesting to me without being a powerhouse rose. Really wearable in any weather, really.

This is a deeply beautiful fragrance. One of the more unique Duchafour's I've tried, to my nose I don't get a lot of aldehydes, but a lot of rose/peony/vanilla and booze. Sillage is more than moderate and after a few hours of wearing it is still sending wafts of gorgeous rose in a still deep drydown. Definitely on my wishlist!

Was really anticipating this one (I love the bottle & the idea behind it) but unfortunately it is very sharp and goes sour on me. It smells sour on tester paper, and even worse on skin. I think it must be the dirty patchouli background with the sweet contrast (think someone below me said that as well). Reminds me of Angel, but not nearly as bad... There is something compelling about it though. Seems to smell a lot nicer in very small quantities (like, just a little dab) rather than large amounts. When applied very lightly, it feels like it "sparkles" - just like a rose cut diamond! That, I think, is a HIGHLY redeeming quality and because of it, I continue to be interested and to try my sample over and over. It's possible I might fall in love with it over time, but for now it's not for me. People less sensitive to patchouli will have better luck with it I think. I will add: not a safe blind buy, even if you love rose like I do. Very expensive and doesn't necessarily smell like rose in the traditional sense. I may try again and update if I change my mind about it.. Edit- 3 months later. I got a small decant of this (7.5mls) and I have decided that I really like this perfume. The sharpness wears off pretty quickly and it becomes a nice rose iced tea scent. I kinda want a full bottle someday :)

For me this scent is fruitly- oriental. At the beginning are sappy fruit, the delicate good-humoured rose , then I feel notes as with the Opium.YSL,Yvress but more modern :) ) The elegant , very interesting scent. Long lasting.. Charming.
