Fantasia Mermaid

This is alot nicer than the reviews make it out to be. It is a soft aquatic and it definitely has the ocean spray quality to it. There is a slight spice but overly its a breezy very calming scent. It smells quite natural really, it isn't very sweet , its truly more like salty air carried on the breeze. After a few hours the dry down does.... evoke a true salt spray. It quite literally smells like skin after being at the beach. So I believe that is the "pissy" element people are picking up on. I don't mind its quite strange but very true to the theme. To be honest, I think its true to what a mermaid probably would indeed smell like... just salty skin. I picture travelling in the car by the ocean on a clear day and the salty breeze just gently passing through the window. Its a very unique scent. And honestly its a grower. I was expecting something sweet with the lychee but truly believe that's what gives it that oceanic smell. Its not a sweet lychee at all, it smells like the musky undertone of lychee flesh. I think this isn't a sugar coated depiction of a what a mermaid may smell like, its a very realistic one. The musk of skin and sand... with a salty aquatic floral. Edit: Okay its been a day and I can officially say this perfume is something which will grow on you like no other. I think for people expecting a very feminine, girly sweet fragrance, yes you will be disappointed but trust me this scent is so brilliantly made. From paper it looks as those it has no aquatic qualities at all but upon smelling it my god again its a truly accurate ocean smell. I don't know how they did it. Its wonderful. Also a great scent for a pisces in your life! 7.6/10

I find myself reaching for this fragrance more than anticipated. I had gotten it in mind for the decorative, almost girlishly chic bottle, purely aestheticising the impulsive purchase for my own self-indulgence. I was pleasantly surprised upon researching further about the notes and came to the conclusion that although I found this for less than $30 at Chemist Warehouse its performance was out shadowed by the girlish charm of the packaging. I have never smelt anything similar, a pleasant almost sunscreen-y scent that lingers behind the sour tartness of the lychee and the smoothness of the honey and woods. The florals give into a more traditionally perfumy smell, but it isn't the centre of the perfume's heart, just makes it sweeter. The subtle spiciness of cardamom can be screechy upon the first few sprays, but it eventually mellows out (or at least in my batch it has) with wear or maturation. I always recommend working a little sweat into your scents, but this becomes something much more sensuous and mature as the saltiness is sort of already present, but as you sweat I think that the jasmine pulls out some of it's delicious indolic dirtiness, and for me at least, it can make this scent 100% more appealing in the ever enduring summer heat. Definitely an outperformer for most of my summer frags, and lasts surprisingly long throughout the day for an EDT, which has been experimented throughout the the arid and humid climates I've endured this summer. Definitely will be repurchased in the future, just wish I could find a bigger bottle!

Edit: okay, the more I smell this, the more I get the “mermaid” aspect of it. It’s not a mermaid who’s still very much tied to her home in the sea, but more of a mermaid who’s beached herself on a tropical island and is sipping on a a fruity cocktail with friends. Weird visual maybe, but that’s what I see as I’m smelling it. As a lover of mermaids, I’ve been trying to find the perfect “mermaid” perfume for a while now. Needless to say I had to try this! On me, Fantasia Mermaid is a soapy, sweet, yet light and easy to wear citrus combined with a syrupy honey and vanilla smell. It does pull “tropical” on me, and I think that’s because it resembles a tasty alcoholic beverage one might drink while on vacation. However, I’m not yet sure if the smell truly reminds me of a mermaid. I’ll purchase a bottle of Fantasia Mermaid if I see it at a low price, as it’s very pretty, surprisingly long-lasting, and the bottle is adorable. That being said, if you’re looking for other fragrances that just scream sirens, the ocean, etc. the best ones I’ve smelled so far are Tokyo Milk’s 20,000 Flowers Under the Sea and Song of the Siren. I have yet to try Anthemoessa, the third in TM’s Neptune and the Mermaid collection, but from what I’ve read it seems to be the best of the trio, so I’ll be trying that one next. Another mermaid themed fragrance that I personally haven’t tried yet, but that seems promising, is Ariel by DefineMe. Hopefully I will get my hands on a bottle soon and can test to see if that’s a better option than the others I’ve listed here.

I saw Fantasia Mermaid going around online and the bottle was so whimsical and cute, I decided I wanted to try it. I was lucky and managed to find two bottles in the 1 oz size and 1.7 oz size for a quarter of the price they usually go for. I can fully say that I love this scent. I love how warm and citrusy this is while still managing to be a fresh and clean. It must be the white wood but I swear that I get an almost salt air or sandy note in the composition. This is also paired with a slightly synthetic note that reminds me of the lingering smell of chlorine on a pool day. Strangely enough, I love it. It transports me to when I lived at the beach and would visit the outside beach bar my boyfriend worked at which was 20 feet away from a pool and 150 feet from the ocean. Somehow this scent manages to capture the core memory of sand and chlorine. While I find it inoffensive, I can see why it may be headache inducing to some people, as this lasts for hours upon hours. I’ve gotten 7+ hours of wear and still been able to smell it in the shower at the end of the day. Definitely perfect for summer. My boyfriend also loves this scent. It’s the only one he’s complimented on his own (I usually wear fruity floral scents or gourmands). He prefers marine or aquatic scents, and I think its because it reminds him of our time at the beach. He has asked to borrow this one on the rare occasion that he feels the need to wear scent as he usually avoids colognes. It works very well as a unisex fragrance, but you’d never know based on the bottle.

Ok, let's be real here. I had to have this perfume because of its lovely bottle. I didn't really care too much about how the perfume smelled, but now I'm here to say that the juice is just as lovely and unexpected as the bottle! Fantasia Mermaid dunks you in the ocean alright, but also very close to a vibrant Tiki bar. The bright, juicy citrus and dazzling litchi evoke a frozen tropical drink. Spicy cardamom is a surprise visitor, and I think it's the component that elevates this perfume from typical designer perfume to something more niche-like. The bright citruses and heat from the cardamom are sweetened beautifully by a soft but detectable honey note and rich vanilla, and the wood in the base feels more like driftwood than anything. Overall the scent evokes a sea breeze blowing through your hair as you sip an exotic spiced fruit drink in the shade of a thatch-roofed Tiki hut. It's a winner for me, and it's a scent I think shines best on humid summer days. Longevity is between 4-6 hours and sillage is a bit under arm's length. It's a winner for me, and the bottle looks beautiful on the shelf with the rest of my collection.

Mesmerising Aquatic Fruity Floral, you need to LOVE the salty skin and the oceanic tropical vibe to really understand this fantasy perfume. This is all about the real aquatic nature of the sea, salt, island Fruits, it's unapologetically marine and I love love love it ! This is a beautiful blast of fresh sea water that crashed onto the driest sun bleached rocks of some remote island - with a hefty poured over lychee, citrus, orange, peonies and jasmine pulp - it is sublime and lasts FOREVER, it is cyclical - it is the same in dry down as it was on first blast - when you wear the matching body lotion, it's deliciously intense - it's incredible to believe this is sp cheap to buy and how soaked in the frgrance the body lotion us too. A man could wear this too, it's totally unisex and very different from anything else. I recently re-discovered the Mermaid as I'd bought Bibi's Fruit Captain - which I've also reviewed earlier today - they literally are the same only Fruit Captain is £200 more than the Mermaid ! I did wonder why it felt familiar in the shop and thankfully my memory came back 🧜♂️ 🧜🏼♀️

Like so many others, I was drawn in by the mermaid bottle. I remember smelling Anna Sui perfumes in the very early 2000s and being intrigued by the clean softness that was paired with something a little unexpected. While the mermaid isn't what I would call soft, it is pretty unexpected. I find this to be a lovely ambroxan-forward aquatic floral, and to my nose it is very reminiscent of YSL Libre due to the citrus-floral-vanilla/ambergris pyramid. Mermaid is different enough from Libre, but they definitely speak to a similar moment in perfumery with Libre being more unisex and Fantasia Mermaid being a smidge more feminine in my estimation. I love fresh yet unique scents, and this definitely ticks that box. I did find it at Marshall's for hella cheap, so I am pretty damn pleased with my purchase. Will everyone like this? No, probably not. But will people tell you that you smell good when you wear it? Absolutely. You will feel good when you wear it too as the entirety of this scent from the package down to the juice itself is summer whimsy in a bottle. Ignore the haters and embrace the mermaid.

Sure, I was initially attracted to the somewhat kitsch bottle. But honestly what really caught my attention were these comments comparing it to the smell of public schools and home depot, as I didn't have anything like that in my collection. As a fan of woodsy florals, the hint of sawmill made me very curious. Upon trying it, I did come to understand where all these opinions came from but I was actually pleased to find this musty saltiness that is so characteristic of the ocean. Having lived by the beach, this really transported me to those clear skied afternoons under the sun, letting the sea water dry up on my skin and the stickiness of the salt mixed with sweat in my hair. I've read countless comments of people becoming disappointed on how "uncute" the fragrance is. But I do picture this is how a sea creature would smell like if they indeed inhabited the oceans. Albeit the smell is rather unusual when I press my nose on the skin, the wafts of sea breeze I get from it are marvelous. Also, great performance for an EDT.

I blind-bought it in summer 2021 after reading the reviews, even though they weren't most positive. I hated it at first! It was strong and sharp. I felt humid all the time and in this already humid and hot summer it was too overwhelming. Something about the flowers and cardamom combo didn't sit well with me. The drydown wasn't as bad, but I still was afraid that the scent might irritate others around me, because the sillage is strong. However, now, half a year later, it has grown on me. It is a good scent for those moments, when you miss summer. Every time I use it, I feel like I just had a nice swim in the sea. I guess this is where the mermaid comes in. It is a warm scent on me and that is what I search for in the winter. Longevity is amazing. I could still faintly smell it on my skin after washing wrists multiple times during the day and my parka is now imbued with it, but I can't complain. In conclusion, it is not a scent for everyone, but if it grows on you, you'll find yourself reaching for it quite often.

My newest love and obsession, especially for the summer. The scent is somewhat nostalgic to me, growing up near the beach. This gives me the distinct imagery of coming back home to your beach house after being in the water all day. It's hot outside and your skin is sticky with sweat and salt water, but you immediately cool off after being inside and showering off. Or maybe you're drinking a refreshing and fruity drink by the pool. Later you go for dinner and an evening stroll in the beach town and get some ice cream after. This is the scent you spray on before leaving. First impression this reminded me of Taylor by Taylor Swift but they are still different. I don't understand the dislike for this. It's basic and crowd pleasing yet still unique enough in its own way. I find it lasting long enough on my skin to get whiffs of it hours later. A lot of your typical fruity floral designer fragrances give me an instant headache but this one doesn't. The beautiful bottle is an added bonus!

This perfume makes me so happy. The bottle is gorgeous. It's a beautiful, bright scent that is a sweet, honeyed juicy orangey grapefruit with a hint of softness. There is something so very tropical about this perfume; it could be because this is one of the two perfumes I brought with me on my last vacation there, but it reminds me of Hawaiian beaches. This perfume smells like the sun, the tropical beach, and the frozen fruit delights used to stave off the heat. It transports me to the Lawson in Waikiki, watching the sunset with milk shaved ice in hand. The longevity on this beauty is a BEAST btw. Has lasted all day 12+ hrs for me multiple times through sweat and sunscreen, I can still smell it on shirts after they've been through the wash (no dryer)!! My mother says it smells like mothballs to her, which I can't understand at all; and a friend of mine says it smells like orange soda without the sugar.

Trust me... get past the first 5-10 minutes because this gorgeous Mermaid is worth adding to your Summer Girl Citrus Sultry Nights collection. This is the smell of being in a Mediterranean garden in the late afternoon... the heat coming on in waves, a slight, warm, balmy salty breeze wafts past your nose, filled with over blossoming night flowers and a citrus grove that lays about 400 yards away from you... the balmy scent keeps coming in drifts... almost narcotic... you literally get to the point where you can't stop smelling that gorgeous scent, it plays on your mind, you want it, you want to roll in it... this is a very very beautiful yet intriguing perfume and you can pick up cheaply in a lot of UK pharmacy shops. The miniature 5ml is exceptionally cute, it has a stopper, not a spray and comes with a body lotion too - a real suprise blind buy !

To me this is another take on the Secret Wish perfumes, especially the original, and maybe Lucky Wish. This has added spice though which gives it more depth. This perfume isn't what I expected it to be, it fits with the rest of her perfumes. Fantasia Mermaid, is way better than the original. On the first spray you get a mix of the blood orange, mandarin, cardamon, and honey. The honey gives this perfume warmth, this perfume isn't syrupy due to the honey, and I was afraid of that. The cardamon, and honey mix well with each other. I smell a lot of the notes mixed together, jasmine, litchi, honey, and cardamon are the notes that stand out the most to me on dry down. I've had every Anna Sui perfume, and to me this is one of her best perfumes. I haven't bought that many perfumes in the past year, as I also don't have my collection anymore either.

This perfume is an odd one, in the best possible way for me. On paper or in the bottle, it smells mostly sweet and floral. I was confused about how it is supposed to be aquatic in any way, but I love florals and fruity scents so I picked it up. It seemed like nothing much special, but it was nice and a small bottle is affordable enough. On the skin though??? It transformed very fast on me to something wet, true watery scent. Not quite salty on me, but natural, like a bath of fresh fruit and flowers. I wear it when I want something a little different, and on me it lasts quite a long while, so I think it would be a fun one to wear in the summer. As it dries down it becomes much less sharp and more natural, fun but not as sharp as other summery scents I like. Not one I thought would be one of my favorites, but I love it.

Purchased this for the bottle as I thought it would make a great decorative piece and wasn’t fussed about the scent. WOW, was I surprised when I smelt it, it is absolutely divine. For a $20 fragrance it smells quite complex and deep and beautiful. My first thought was that it was a complete dupe for Taylor by Taylor Swift, which was another one of my favourites back in the day. It’s hard to say whether this is a night or day fragrance. I think it’s both, for during autumn and winter, as the scent is just so enchanting. The bottle is stunning on its own but now that I know what it smells like I will be buying another and looking into more Anna Sui. This was my first purchase of this brand.

I just bought it at Marshalls and absolutely love it. It is nothing like I ever smelled in my life. I find most recent perfumes boring and smell the same. It was a blind buy and I am usually not a citrusy perfume type person. I found it in Marshalls for $12.99 and it was really cheap and the box was so cute. This adult woman loves mermaids and anything cute. Anyway got home and I love the pretty mermaid bottle and how the turquoise liquid in the bottle looks like the sea. Sprayed it on myself and couldn't stop smelling my wrist. It smelled that good. I got a bit of fruitiness with floral notes very sugary vibe and what a pretty mermaid would smell like. I want another bottle of it.

This is 95% of Fleur Narcotique, with addition of sweetness due to the honey note. It is a half citrus, half sweet scent. Cardamon, vanilla and woods are not really detectable to me and I'm extremely sensitive to woody bases in citrus perfumes - as they tend to give this masculine cologne vibe on my skin. There's nothing soapy about it as well. Honey + a hint of jasmine combo can make it slightly nauseating, but not too much and definitely not for someone who likes sweet scents in general or is used to jasmine. Just do not overspray it and you're all set. If you like Fleur Narcotique, that's an excellent alternative for you, especially considering the price tag.

now this is off the charts, a geniusly crafted perfume. i fell in love with this years ago and eventually decided to purchase it. this is beautiful. the main notes i pick up are cardamon and blood orange. but this has such an elegant and well crafted twist to it, the bottle is beautiful and the turquoise colour of the perfume is lovely. the scent is absolutely beautiful and unique. i cant compare it to anything. this was such a well made perfume. would recommend so much if you are into more niche perfumes or unique, i dont know the exact way to explain this but if you like a perfume with a twist you would like this. not basic at all. very well made. 11/10

Kept trying to figure out what this smells like—VALAYA. Love it. I’m super surprised at all the low reviews—maybe people were expecting something different? But this is very similar to Valaya to me—maybe a little more fruity. Edit: okay I got a sample of Fleur Narcotique and it’s exact. The extra fruitiness of mermaid is displayed very similarly in Fleur Narcotique. Of you are looking for a very similar fragrance for a lower price point-this is it. Also similar to mystique bouquet but less sweet. So..I think this is your girl if you like Valaya/mystique bouquet but want something a little sweeter and fruitier-something closer to Fleur Narcotique.

Fleur Narcotique but with fewer floral notes and bright citrus added! 🍊 Has an edge and lasts over 7 hours on my skin. Bright, juicy, metallic/salty. Wakes you up! I feel it’s an energizing scent. That Bottle/packaging is exactly what the child in my heart wants displayed on my shelf!! I’m loving this new (to me) find, especially since the juice is so much more sophisticated than I expected. 😍🌊 Update: this has become my go/to fragrance for days that I know will be hard. Like a strong friend that says you can do it!!! But that friend lives inside your shirt and wafts up to comfort you in the form of fragrance. Maybe it’s that bright citrus? 🍊

I did not buy this for the bottle ( which I personally don't like much). Tried this as a sample from a fragrance subscription company and fell in LOVE with the scent. I now own a full size bottle. This is also my first time smelling anything from Anna Sui. Now, although there are no actual aquatic notes, I do get a marine vibe. To me this smells salty, sweet, and fresh. That combination gives off the impression of salty sea air. I really enjoy it. It's different from anything else in my collection. Beautiful summer scent IMO. At least that is when I plan to wear this. Longevity is moderate as well as sillage.

Bought this two weeks ago for my weeks stay in Naples, FL. I am still here and I love it. Blind buy. I love it. I am wearing it now. I love it. It smells clean, aquatic, fresh, slight white floral and sweet. Easy on the pockets for a long lasting scent. It is in the same company as D&G light blue forever- which is just more decadent and intense. I love this and is would wear this anywhere. You guys are a tough crowd but I love this forum. Someone said Home Depot but in a bad way; I am rotf. Supreme hilarity!!! That is what this forum is all about. I think this is a great pretty feminine scent.

Perfect little gem after a hot summer day spent at the beach, and you have had a shower and are on your way out. It's fresh, clean, airy and light. It's not sweet at all. Any florals in it are used to soften, not sweeten. It's a toilette, so use it in the warmer weather and it will last for ages. Silage is heavy at first then it dulls to a level that will not offend anyone near you, but still keep you smelling divine. I personally find the packaging a little disappointing for Anna Sui. The design itself is gorgeous, but the execution is a little cheap.

Missed opportunity! they should of and made this a sea salt vanilla fragrance! I personally would of added sea salt, plumeria and orchid notes :P oh well,..I'll be buying this anyway! The bottle is gorgeous and my inner Pisces really digs the whimsical mermaid design Hope the next Fantasia bottle is a dragon! With red or orange liquid and a Chinese style dragon or green liquid and a European style dragon! We need more fairytale perfume bottles! Do it Anna Sui!

got this perfume just for the bottle alone. from the reviews i was expecting a just okay fragrance but omg this literally smells like fleur narcotique ex nihilio which is a very lovely and PRICEY fragrance. fantasia mermaid also somehow lasts longer on my skin than that fragrance which is crazy because this is a fraction of the price. you definitely get the lychee and some floral notes. its a little sweet and fresh. i loveeee this! better than i expected!!!

I admit it. I fell in love with the bottle and blind bought this perfume. It is pretty much what I expected it to be except that this is much less screechy than I thought. No one particular note stands out to me but I absolutely think it captures the essence of what a mermaid would smell like. I imagine a beautiful siren sitting on a stone with that salty sea smell wafting up from the rock. A nice fun scent and not too sweet! Would buy again!

I love this one, my mom wears it and it has great projection. Smells sweet and tropical. She wore it to the movies the other day and as she passed me I was looked around, "Did you smell that? Someone smells nice" and then I realized it was her! The smell kept wafting up to me throughout the 2 hour movie, which I found pretty impressive. I think it's a great smelling fragrance, and now I love it cause it makes me think of my mom! :) 7.5/10

A great perfume for a summer day. It's citrusy but sweet and floral- I can definitely tell that this perfume isn't for everyone, but it is a perfume for me! I love how it smells on my skin, it's not too overpowering, and it just radiates such a positive vibe- if that makes sense.... This perfume is of course more of the "playful and sunny" girl type, and anyone who lives in a Tropical country (like me) would really enjoy this scent.

I think Mermaid fulfills the promise of the bottle. I was afraid it has only the bottle to sell but no - it is a very good scent with lovely performance. If you liked Anna Sui greatest scents like Sui Love and Sui Dreams you won't be disappointed. This is equally lolita, lovable, unique in a similar esthetic. Properly summery, with a marine edge that is not obvious, but magical.

i’m so sad this isn’t being made anymore and have bought a few extra bottles! this is absolutely amazing and especially if it’s had time to sit. it’s a sweet honey with citrus fruits and has an impressive sillage for the price. it’s very unique to other perfumes and can seem a bit bizarre at first but you keep going back to smell more.

Great performance! Breezy beachy salty air, floral and green garden, AND spicy woods... lovely, unique, and sweet, I LOVE this one <3 Edit: This perfume makes me feel sad for some reason... like in a good way it is a more pensive and melancholic scent for me. Sometimes I want that ok! lol

I bought this because of the cute bottle and the $15.00 price at TJMaxx. I was not expecting much more than a fun bottle from this blind buy. It turns out that I really like this beachy EDT. It's a woody spicy floral making for an interesting and unusual summer fragrance.

Rather similar to what it's duping. What I found surprise, however, is how long it lasted and that the people around me could actually smell it. I'd assumed it was a cheapie to enjoy becausec of its whimsical bottle, but this turned out to be a very decent perfume.

Blind buy from few years ago, I expected to be entirely different, and hated it on the first smell! Later after giving it another chance I fell in love, this is my best pick for summer. Its elegant and clean, I smell bitter orange, mandarin and salt water.

I am in love with this fragrance, it is the perfect beachy scent, I saw someone compare its scent to a mermaid's salty skin, that's probably the best description for it. The lychee note is really what makes this perfume for me.

This is beautiful, I would never have said this was a mermaid perfume it's got alot of depth in smell warm and almost musky and very sweet but classy. I brought this when I was in Japan, it's so long lasting!!

A very pretty bottle. Warm spicy and woody notes. The spicy note most probably came from cardamom.. Lasted quite long on me.. About 4-6 hours..

Clean, fresh & ozonic. A “mermaid” perfume, not too floral, not too sweet; charming.🌊🧜♂️ at my nose – Opens with bright, fresh notes – something citric, with honey in the blend. A bit fruity. I can smell white flowers in the middle, and soft woody undertones - that remind me white bleached wood on the beach. Slightly masculine. personal thoughts – First time I’ve wear it, my daughter said to me “Oh it’s YOU that smells so good in the house! “. A crush for most people around me. Bottle is just stunning. Color is very inspiring. Scent is fresh, watery, not too floral, not too girly (with white wood in the mix, I think it’s well balanced, reminds me cologne a bit). It’s a clean, almost “laundry” scent. Honey notes definitely show up on my skin, vanilla not so much but there’s something soft in the background that makes this fragrance captivating. For me it’s a summer perfume for suuuuure, but because I love it and it suits me well, I could wear it all year long – and confidently receive compliments. Very long lasting - and one spray is enough. the vibe – Watery, charming, vaporous. A fresh breeze from the beach charged with salty droplets; sit on white wood, breathing this oceanic wind that melted with some delicate florals blooming near on warm day. tarot cards – ( For me, tarots cards are archetypes that can describe feelings & moods as well; a perfect tool for associations with perfumes - because perfumes are magical !) A Knight of Cups. Dreamy, charming, sensitive; carried by his sentiments and reveries, in love with love, in his own world. Maybe sometime too head-in-the-clouds and swirled up in his emotions, but loving & intuitive in nature; leaves people with good feelings, always seduced, mesmerized, with an out-of-this-world impression that makes him so attractive... and unattainable. résumé – clean, almost like “laundry” + a little fruity + bright citrus notes at the beginning + white florals in the middle + woody undertones that add a masculine tone to the mix.

I found this perfume at ross for 14.99 as 1oz. Fantasia is particularly unique in the fragrance world because of its honey note. I really like this perfume. I reject the idea of a scent reminding you of a place because I find it hard to put me in that perspective when I don't get out that much... The packaging of Fantasia Mermaid is unique. That's something I really appreciate with the Anna Sui fragrance house. As impractical as the packaging is, it becomes almost a statement piece wherever it is. I CAN say it's a scent unique or reminiscent of floral (jasmine) tea mixed with some fruit and honey. It's that subtle honey note that doesn't overpower the other fruity notes. A unique summer fragrance that rejects the conventionality of coconut and aquatics. I tend to like perfumes with notes that harmonize, and Fantasia Mermaid certainly accomplishes that. It opens as fruits and florals and honey, but then you smell the depths of the litchi and honey and the florals at the end once it dries down on your skin. It makes a room smell good but not necessarily stink it up. it lasts 3-6hrs which means you have to re-apply throughout the day if you don't use vaseline/moisturizer.

Full disclosure, I bought this for the bottle. I've collected mermaids for nearly 30 years and had to have this for my mermaid themed bathroom. I tried to go the TJ Maxx/Marshall's route because I knew I would hate the fragrance, but no luck. Sucked it up and paid $35 on EBay(I really wanted that bottle). What a pleasant surprise this was. Thankfully not at all gormand as described(just not in my wheelhouse). Neither was it the migraine inducing, aquatic watery accord I was somehow expecting. It's lovely. I'm getting more insight each time I wear it. I definitely get a sparkling orange, but not smacked in the face with it like some have described, something like a white peach as well. Jasmine and white woods, just barely tempered with a touch of honey. The star for me is the salty, slightly soapy note that ties it all together. I live across the street from the beach and this is a great beach smell. And that bottle looks great in my bathroom!

Of course, everyone buys this perfume because of the bottle. It's cute. And the fragrance is cute. But I don't get any depth neither room for thinking. Just candy-floraly-sweet story. White flowers growing close to the sea in a Barbie's head. 18 years old me would go with it, maybe also because of bottle. quite synthetic.But at the same time, it's nice. Nice enough to wear it. Goodbye, pretty little thing. You'll be a beautiful match for somebody else. Edit: after one more trying I like it lol. I get something from my childhood from it, smells very nostalgic. My above-mentioned opinion stays the same but I decided to leave it in my collection. Borscht rating for people: 6.6/10 Borscht rating for herself: 3.4/10

I blind bought this for the bottle and when I first tried it, I wasn't impressed. I tried it on recently about 7 weeks later and found it surprisingly pleasant. The citrus opening reminds me of peeling a thick pomelo, in the best possible way, and settles down to something very evocative of water without feeling "blue" and sporty. It's sweet and fresh and very wearable for all ages in my opinion for a warm day. I see others have compared it to Valaya and Mystique Bouquet, I would say they are 70% similar. I was also quite surprised by the longevity. I sprayed it after work and found it still lingering on my skin the next morning and enjoyed its scent wafting up at me all evening.

Another one bought for the bottle more than the juice. But I have to say that I really like the fragrance more than I expected. It’s no really like the ocean or mermaids (maybe a tropical island?) but it’s juicy and fresh and long lasting. There’s a richness to the base that works so well with the citrus top notes. Yeah, it’s awkward to spray. There’s even a sticker with directions inside the box to show you how to put your finger in to spray it. Don’t try to wrench the mermaid off as it is not a cap... For the budget price of $30 AUD, it’s definitely worth it in my opinion. It’s freaking gorgeous.... like the rest of AS bottles. Help me, I can’t say no!
