If I am doing anything wrong by posting this here, I apologize. I will make a forum post as well. But I wanted to recommend Duality by Long Lost Perfume as an alternative to AKII. I just received a purse-sized spray, and I have a full bottle on the way. In my opinion, Duality is lovely as an AKII alternative and lovely in its own right as well. I adored AKII in 5th and 6th grade. It was everything right about 80s/90s perfume - rich, spicy, and impossible to ignore. I still own two partial bottles, by now concentrated and used as home scents only, but thankfully, not rancid. I long for a fresher bottle to wear out and about, but refuse to spend more money on vintage bottles of this perfume, as I do not believe they will be any better than the ones I already have. I heard murmurs on the internet about Duality and decided to give it a try, despite my typical aversion toward dupes. At first spray, I could smell Duality's resemblance to AKII, but it seemed much softer than I recalled. I had to remind myself that, at this point, I have only a couple ancient original bottles with which to induce childhood scent memory. In any case, Duality smelled immediately delightful. Two hours later, I could definitely smell that spicy vanilla goodness I remembered. How true to the original is Duality? I can't say after this much time, but compared to my vintage AKII, the essence is nailed down pretty tightly. Perhaps, it is a bit lighter than the original, but I'm not sure to be perfectly honest. Either way, go for it. You won't regret buying Duality if you liked AKII.

Soon I will return to my budget and end the blind buying habit I acquired during Covid, but I have found some very lovely perfumes based on articles and reviews here. Anne Klein II is certainly one of them. On me it is heavy amber, sandalwood, and patchouli - all notes that make my heart sing! Vanilla is also a major component, but it ebbs and flows throughout the journey, which to my delight is a very long one. I applied 3 good sprays yesterday at noon. It is 9 am now and this scent is still discernible. It lasts on clothes for days. Unbelievable! The ending mirrors the opening on me, where the sandalwood, patchouli and amber are very much equally there in the final stages, lounging on a bed of powdery musk. The opening is heavenly - big juicy blast of the three major players propelled by bergamot fireworks. The vanilla really comes through about 2 hours in. I know it’s not listed, but not long after that I detect a cumin note similar to the one in Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant. I love cumin in heavy perfumes. It makes everything more interesting while it lasts, which is about an hour for AKII. I never get the individual flowers, only the blend of them. Longevity 10/10, sillage 8/10, scent 10/10. And I can’t believe the price - $19 for 3.4 oz. EDP. Gorgeous!! I wish there were bath powder, lotion, and shower gel, too! To me, while it does occupy a lot of the same space as Tabu and Obsession, it differs enough that I will reorder. I strongly prefer AKII to the current version of Tabu, and I love it even a little more than I love the current Obsession.

I just bought a mini bottle of this after decades without one. What was I thinking? This stuff is gorgeous. Redolent roses, carnation,and orris with base notes that arrive within 30 minutes. I really don't smell anything but bergamot and maybe the peach as top notes, and they seem to last less than a minute. Of course this bottle I bought is probably at least 30 years old, but I don't remember it opening much different before. This is a rosy floral oriental, and a 50's fragrance masquerading as an 80's fragrance. Around 1992 or so, I believe I read in the press that Anne Klein had died, and without a plan for the continuance of her business. I just checked Wikipedia and it says she died in 1974, so that reasoning can't be true. But something must have happened to the business around 1992, because all the fragrances were discontinued. I think the clothing line may have changed for a time. I was still working and buying clothes in Macy's and elsewhere, so I'd have noticed if Anne Klein clothes weren't there. They're back now of course. I think if this fragrance, along with the earlier Anne Klein (just Anne Klein, not Anne Klein I) would have been made longer, they would have been considered classics. I always considered her earlier fragrance, Blazer, to be inferior to the two later ones, and I think it was discontinued earlier, maybe even before 1985, when Anne Klein II came out.

This review is for the reissue of Anne Klein II, which I found recently for $12.99 at TJ Maxx, to my surprise. I wore the original during the 1980s, and I still have a partial bottle with which to compare this reissue. Like the original, it is a semi-sheer, vanilla-based floriental, not too heavy but with a warmth that is very alluring, especially in autumn. If you buy online, it will be important to know the difference between the original and the reissue, as the packaging is so similar but the prices so different. The original was made in France by Parlux, and it will say so on the bottom of the box. The reissue lists many more detailed ingredients on the back of its box, as is now required, and it will say “Designed in the United States, Made in China” on the back, with the company name of Palm Beach Beaute LLC and its website, palmbeachbeaute.com. I find this new version to be very similar to the original, though it is not quite as rich and deep (that is likely because of 1) an absence of some now-restricted ingredients and 2) the age of my original bottle, well-preserved in its box, which has allowed it to age gracefully and become richer). For $13-16 for 100 ml, you really can't go wrong. I've already ordered two back-up bottles! Thank you, Palm Beach Beaute, whoever you are!

Vintage Powdery AMBER-ORRIS-VANILLA with Sandalwood & Carnation (and a Hint of Vintage Green). In the first minute or so before the spray dries, I can feel the vintage amber-floral tones. After the spray dries, and the sillage starts to open up there's a vintage perfume-y green tone, and already the amber is swelling through. As it transitions to the heart, I get a powdery sweet iris/orris-root and spicy-floral carnation. As it dries down it gets sweeter, with a powdery amber sweetness. Civet passes through in the background and adds a vintage twist. Overall I get a powdery sweet vintage amber-floral with a muffled spiciness that's filtered through carnation. Reviewers have got it right with the top 5 rated notes imho: amber, orris-root, vanilla, sandalwood, carnation. Performance is well above average, but the vintage powdery amber tones make it most appropriate for cooler months. Contrast to Obsession Calvin Klein: These are different, but there;s a similar vintage amber vibe, and similarities with amber, sandalwood & civet. Obsession has a more forward spicy-cinnamon quality, while Anne Klein 2 has a more forward powdery orris-root. Both have excellent performance. Overall: gorgeous vintage powdery amber-floral with excellent performance. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

(Vintage Parfum) I love amber. Like, love. After iris, oakmoss and puppies probably my favorit-est thing ever. Resinous, soapy, syrupy, powdery, spicy, amber by any other name would smell as sweet, and everytime winter approaches Anne Klein 2 quells my amber deprivation. For a whole while. This is an amber spruced up by a bite of a juicy peach and a spray of galbanum at first, supported by green woods and sweetened by dry, powdery vanilla, a spoon of ylang-ylang custard and orris-carnation incense, a corkscrew staircase of notes that reaches down to a warm, talcum-powdery amber that makes me feel like plummeting into a cloud that was sent to lull me away, singing far above the shrieky realities of the world. As a disclaimer it does smell dated-ish, in an eighties way, in the same way that Ally Sheedy's character in St.Elmo's Fire wore victorian fingerless lace gloves and could groove to Spandau Ballet, style of dated. Cool, pining in nostalgia dated. Longevity: A long flight.

I'm trying the reissue of AKII for the first time today, and what a massive disappointment. Can we please get a separate listing for it on fragrantica? Sometimes, people go overboard with their complaints about reformulations, but really Palm Beach Beaute dug up poor AKII from her resting place, slapped her back to life, tied her to a chair and did unspeakable things to her for five days straight till they re-killed her; then did unthinkable things to her once-more-again corpse for a few hours; reinterred her, and piddled on her grave. I wouldn't even know I was meant to be smelling Anne Klein II if I didn't see the allegation printed clearly on the bottle. Just no, Palm Beach Booty. AKII was beautiful, but your zombified version is a travesty. Edit: As it settles on my skin, I must admit that it's not a bad fragrance at all. I do like it; it's just hard to equate to the original. At least, I didn't go overboard with my initial reaction.

Anne Klein II is utterly gorgeous! I have the reissued version and had read the complaints about performance. Well, I guess I came here to say that I am positively surprised and to let people know that this is sooo worth trying. My skin eats perfume like a hungry beast, but AK2 performs just fine on me! It is a bit shy and doesn't project much, but it last for quite a while (I woke up to the beautiful scent of it still there in the morning, after having applied in the evening). I can also perfectly smell wafts of this surrounding myself now, almost 4 hours after applying. It is by no means a beast, but it doesn't have such a poor performance that it should keep anyone from trying it. Sometimes it is better to not have tried the original version, which seems the case here Probably the best cheapie I have tried so far. Never boring and never bothersome, just perfect for every day wear. I love it!!

The Short: I❤️AK2. The Long: I have both original and the reissue. Love both. So, the original is beautiful, provocative, alluring—sultry. A dry complex ambery flowery whiff of cozy. Really rich in composition, perfect for fall and winter. It is one of my precious gems. I actually feel like the reissue still has the essence minus the dryness. It is really close but, it is better to consider it a body spray than an edp. It is like “diet” AK2. Still beautiful, just a lighter version. I happily used this alone until I could find a replacement for my original. I wear both. The original I spray sparingly, on my skin on occasion. The reissue, I can spray liberally. It is great in my hair and misted onto my clothing. AK2 works so well with my chemistry. This is an unapologetically bold sultry scent with confident presence. Try the reissue, it is very affordable and worth the smell.

So far in my three year journey into the world of perfume, this is my absolute favorite. I've spent $250 on bottles of it to date, and expect to buy at least two more big bottles in the future. I may try the "Long Lost Perfumes" version as well. I've heard it's lovely. What strikes me about this is it is the most sophisticated perfume to have no"coldness" about it. It achieves what I had thought could only be achieved by the chypre genre. It's not quite formal, but definitely perfect for a wedding/funeral/event. Also a delight for everyday. Very comforting and warm while not being oversexed or teenage sweet. A triumph.

Good lord, this stuff is/was achingly beautiful... I remember it being similar to Guess Original, oozing from its bottomless depth with rich amber and orris root... AK2 with just a bit more bite... almost a bitterness, but a craveable bitterness. It is factually causing me physical pain to ache for both of these impossible to afford unicorns. I long for them. Nothing comes close to either, not yet anyway. Should I spend $40 for the mini on Ebay? I love this one and Guess Original, and my husband, and my kids... not *necessarily* in that order. ;)

This fragrance is all that and a bag of chips! Warm, rich, sexy mmmmmm. Stand back or you might get burned because this fragrance is hot and on FIRE! She is powerful and demands respect. Amatuers need not apply but don't take my word for it... Update: received a full 30 ml bottle in a swap today, now I don't have to use my two large minis all that sparingly. This fragrance is deep and rich just the way I like it. It's warm, comforting, with a hint of spice and very classy. It's like An alternative to Obsession, made for a 'lady'. It's so pretty.

I'm enamoured and obsessed. If the newer version smells this good, I can't even imagine how good the original was. Completely stunning on my skin. So well blended. Mildly spicy, a touch of green, nuances of amber. slightly floral, a tad fruity, light woodiness. I don't get anything animalic (civet) from this at all. It's deep without being dark (retains a restrained brightness.) Classy and sophisticated but not stuffy or dated. Pure luxury! This smells different from what everyone else is currently wearing. A unique gem and a big love for me!

I bought this back in the early nineties and I believe it is one of the best in its genre. This is a delicious, syrupy, incense like scent that is perfect for evening wear in cooler weather. It made me feel rich, classy and seductive when I wore it and if it were available now I would probably find it hasn't dated at all. Use sparingly as it is quite strong but the longevity is better than excellent. This is a classic in my opinion. I bought two bottles of this which is unusual for me because I get easily bored so I must have loved it.

i am testing from a vintage bottle. i think either i had this back in the day or my mom did. hazy memories. it's very dry ambery and woody. the green notes add something really intriguing in this i think. it's like fresh herbs with warm amber. also, love the bottle. i remember holding it in my hand back then and thinking it was so cool and modern, and it still is! it gets woodier and more beautiful as time goes on. kinda musty, in the best way. i really like this one and am glad i have some again.

I am new to this fragrance. My immediate impression is a delicious cinnamon churro, then dulce de leche, then spicy vanilla, and finally, powder and carnations. It’s really lovely and the only negative I can think of is that it feels watered down and less powerful than it could be if this was truly an 80’s era relic. This feels like the most refined, delicious body mist ever.

I received this as a gift in the 90s from my boyfriend's brother, who was visiting from out of state. He didn't know me well, and I was unsure I liked the scent. After looking at it on the shelf for awhile, I discovered I loved it and used it up. Several perfumes and years later when I went looking for it I found it was hard to find. I'd like to smell this one again.

Anne Klein ll is a new find. It is like Obssession EdP, Must de Cartier and Cartier Basier du Dragon rolled in one. Another surprising similarity is CD Addict. The original 1985 must have been better. This 'made in china' rerelease is fine with me but doesn't last and project well. But l am happy. One of the best orientals l have in my cologne wardrobe.

Delicious amber, resins and spices make AKII a delight to wear. Sillage is modest, longevity is good. Thankfully I don't get any orris, nor any other powdery note. My flacon doesn't indicate the concentration, but judging by the strength it's probably an edp. Anne Klein made good perfumes, it's a true pity there are only three.

amber, orris, benzoin, carnation, sandalwood, musk and patch; those are the main players. This is an 80s powerhouse that starts out strong like other orientals but then dries down less sweet and more powdery. It's lovely. There has to be oakmoss in there too that gives it that drier, sharper edge in the base.

Very delicious and sophisticated; warm benzoin, amber, and patchouli, and the civet is also (surprisingly) well-blended. I have the reformulation, and I really enjoy it. It's very much the love-child of Baiser du Dragon, Tabu, and Royal Secret II by Germaine Monteil (original formula). Exceptionally lovely.

This is a comforting, sweet, green and powdery amber scent that captures the winters of an 80's America in a bottle. It has its own unique character that belongs to one of the best nostalgic decades of our history. Too bad though that... it's made in China..........

Beautiful scent. Soft, feminine, great staying power. I recently bought it on a vintage store and fell in love. It is the perfume version so thank God a little goes a long way (it's such a small bottle :(... I will have to get another at Ebay when it's over.

Anne Klein ll is a spicy, creamy, resinous amber type perfume. When worn in 75-80F, low humidity weather, it lasts for a few days on clothing. Quite mature and sexy. A bit early 90s type and easy to wear.

This smells basically exactly like Obsession by Calvin Klein, except it doesn’t last and is a little less citrus-y. I have to say, I’m a little disappointed. I was expecting something more unique.

Anne Klein 2!....i miss you so much, why isnt there more perfumes like this? its the sexiest by far....its Love all over...looking at Addict by Dior at the moment. its the closest to it!

Wore this in high school & it was one of my first "darker" non bright floral perfumes. It was probably my gateway into floral orientals, and my love for incense scents. Really loved it.

Long Lost Perfume makes a worthy AKII dupe called Duality. They used to have their own site, but are now on eBay. Especially like their dupe of Deneuve called Cannes.

I unfortunately have the latest one they made..but I will definitely search for the original on ebay

Read about this fragrance in a Fragrantica article and the reviews intrigued me. I’m a huge fan of Must by Cartier, as well as Gres Cabochard and Imari by Avon...all 3 I consider rich, lush, sophisticated “fur and pearls” kinds of fragrances. Yes, they definitely smell dated or discordant to some noses and the sheer number of notes I think smells overwhelming to many modern noses. Anne Klein 2 had notes and reviews that told me it was right up my alley...and I’m not disappointed. I see fruity green notes listed as top notes, but this rushes right into a smooth, round, lightly powdery incense. I thought I smelled rock rose, but it must be the combination of amber and orris; I find these notes also give a faint illusion of leather/suede and the net result is a bit of that “inside of a handbag” smell which can be so comforting yet genteel. The sandalwood and benzoin give a distinct incense note, but one that leans into the vanilla that is also present; together, those notes are sweet but not sugary and they avoid any sharpness which an incense note can sometimes bring. I was relieved to find the carnation and patch were minimal, as those are notes that doesn’t always agree with me. I wish the rose was more prominent, as it is a note that I love an don’t smell as distinct. At best, I think the floral notes are pulling the vanilla-incense into a floral direction. I do not smell anything animalic, no skank from the musk or civet; I believe they are working to lend the smoothness and well-blendedness of the other notes. It settles into my skin nicely, not ever really feeling sharp or too bright. Both Must and Cabochard have a powdery-leathery-incense theme that I adore; I find Anne Klein 2 gives me the same impression, with a tad of floral-vanilla that makes it unique. This is a night at the opera, a fancy French dinner, a string of pearls and a cashmere scarf. It is also a comforting and sophisticated fragrance that I’m loving at my boring office job, where a little elegance breaks up the monotony of cubicle land. Sillage is modest, maybe arms’ length. Longevity so far is 4 hours and still pleasantly present. My huge 3.4oz bottle was $18 online, so a bargain. The bottle is sturdy, tall and not terribly interesting but also not cheap looking despite the name blazoned on the front. I’m enjoying this fragrance and recommend it if your tastes align with mine! Edit (4Mar23) - it occurred to me that this is reminiscent of Tabu, yes, but also Aviance Night Musk - if you combined the two (especially as pertains to the incense like notes), you might get AK II.

My set: Designed in the USA, Made in China On my skin, the opening is fresh (lemon and green notes) with something aromatic which I thought for sure it was coriander but later realised it was benzoin. This is a very resinous smell that is a tad off putting in the opening but mellows and adds a lovely quality to the dry down. The florals take over, with carnation leading the parade and I begin to detect civet. This smells like an 80s oriental at this point, it's at this point that you begin to realise that you're not wearing a 'modern' fragrance. After a few minutes, it dries down to a powdery-sweet iris-musk-vanilla-woody combination that's a skin scent. You get whiffs of vanilla over the iris now and then. On clothing, it's another story- the carnation, oris, benzoin, amber, patchouli and civet are loud opening and mid notes, while the dry down is powdery iris, amber and sandalwood. I think I would wear this in every season except winter as it's not a perfume that projects or has strong sillage despite its fantastic longevity. The opening and dry down are fresh enough for the summer months without becoming cloying. It projects for the first hour and then settles to become a skin scent (lasts longer on skin when used with product body wash and lotion). On clothing, it lasts >24 hours, on skin, ~5 hours. This is my resident WFH scent.

What a comforting vintage lady. Powder, spice, musk, and warmth! Mature. Alluring. Solid. Stable. Snuggly! Having Avon Timeless as my signature scent, I immediately noticed the similarity. But as the fragrance developed I did indeed smell some of the same kind of spicy roundness in Obsession, albeit much dialed back. If you like Obsession but found it too much of a good thing, AK II would be Ideal. If you want a variation on Timeless, also ideal. If you hate powder OR Avon style musk OR unisex leaning base notes, OR vintage-style tonka bean/amber notes, then please avoid. As it is, I will consider whether I want a full bottle or not. My sample is the current version from China, and while not a powerhouse, it is fully satisfying as a good EDC or an EDT. Highly recommended to vintage bargain hunters everywhere. This is the type of scent our grandmothers snapped up and our grandfathers whiffed in with satisfaction!

This is nice!! I can't stop sniffing myself! The opening is very much CK Obsession, but warm without being sugary sweet. A good comparison though, they definitely share notes. The dry-down is much more herbal compared to CK. I suspect Vetiver is in there and not a listed note. This is different enough from Obsession to belong in my fume wardrobe. I might even like it more. I bought it (China version) at Burlington for $12.99 in a 2-pack with AK1. I don't like the AK1 but the price keeps me from feeling too injured. Worth a try if you like Orientals. If you're on a budget it can replace Obsession. Edit: the 2nd half of wear is very Chypre-like. So I'd classify this an Oriental-Chypre. It actually unfolds more like Revlon Ajee (Starting amber/spicy but ending more cool and herbal.)

I bought this from Marshall's last year, so I am reviewing the reformulated version. On me, the opening is a blast of green notes, like there's a soap in my nostrils. Then jasmine kicks in. About an hour later, it's a nice warm mix of vanilla, resiny benzoin and amber. This is what I get when my skin is dry, and I actually like it. However, if I happen to be on a sweaty day, the scent becomes animalic (a bad way, smells like an amplification of my sweat lol), and doesn't smell like the base notes I describe above. This scent is good for a dry, winter night. Update on 1/21: Now I have grown to appreciate this scent even better. The powdery notes are well balanced with the warm amber notes.

Picked this up on the $22 (used to be $20!) shelf today at Shoppers so all the Canadians looking to try this at a good price, head over to your local SDM and grab it. I was able to try it out at the store and immediately picked up a backup bottle. This is one of those really good 80's style fragrances. It goes on nuclear and then tones down to a sultry woody, amber-vanilla with some light floral and warm spicy notes. It's classy style still holds up well today. It's old-school without be old-fashioned. The above "People who like this also like" suggestions are bang on. If you like any of those, you should be good to blind buy it. If anything, it's on the more tame end of that spectrum.

Got a cheap bottle at TJ Maxx when they had a bunch a year or two ago. I love the original Anne Klein so I was excited. When I first smelt this I didn’t like it, so I put it away planning to sell it. I just found it again and I love! I originally wasn’t a fan because I didn’t like green notes, but since then I’ve learned to love them. Now when I smell this, it’s an enchanting red oriental (like Must de Cartier or the original Guess). It’s October right now and I find it to be very witchy. There’s a lot of witchy fragrances out there but this one is unique - I would pair it with a burgundy sweater, black scarf, brown boots, etc..

I purchased Anne Klein 2 yesterday as a set half price after Christmas sale. It smells very similar to Tabu. In fact I sprayed Anne Klein 2 on and later in the day when it wore off I sprayed Tabu, very very similar. If you like Tabu you'll like Anne Klein 2, if you own one or the other it's almost redundant. I like the top of Tabu a bit more as I smell more of the florals and citrus on the top but the dry down is very close to Anne Klein. Both lovely fragrances, staples to have in any collection of cold weather fragrances. They both start out strong but fade to moderate projection within an hour on me. Classic beauties!

Got a sample from a friend. It's a typical amber floral scent that's not too spicy to start with. It reminds me of Chanel no.5 but it's not as bright as that one. This one is warm like a light blanket that wraps you up without being too noticeable. Well balanced at the right strength. Does anyone also think it is similar to Goldfield and Banks' Desert Rosewood? I love in Australia and I like that local brand. That one is also a spicy one, typical benzoin.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I spotted this at Burlington for only 12.99. I haven’t seen this fragrance for years. I used this scent in the 80’s along with the original Anne Klein. Loved them both. This is a reformulation but it’s pretty spot on as I have the vintage to compare it to. This scent is great in cooler weather and the other Anne Klein was great in the warm weather. Very happy to be able to wear this scent again.

I really dislike to boast about my finds, but I bought two for myself and sister when drugstore clearanced it when discontinued. My sister sent me back to buy the remaining five. When she passed, I inherited her bottles. This is the heaviest vanilla I can wear. When I do wear it, I feel wrapped by my sister,s love. My two remaining bottles are over eight years old and the one I just started smells like the very first one.

I never had the pleasure of smelling vintage Anne Klein 2 but I'm enjoying the current version. The longevity isn't the greatest, but you really can't complain considering the price. It has a bitter green opening with a little dry rosewood. Then it turns into a warm, spicy, and balsamic beauty with amber, benzoin, and carnation. These notes are right up my alley and just what I like for fall and winter.

My sister wore this until her bottle ran out and we all switched to Osbsession for a whole decade. I loved it. I have never been able to find anything that resembles the airy cloud of softness that one gets from Anne Klein II (nor has my sister). If anyone could suggest a replacement scent for this, i'd be grateful!

I just bought a little 5ml bottle on Ebay for £1.20 ($2)!!!! I'm gonna cherish it and make it last forever, its soooo good. Why on earth are fabulous fragrances like this discontinued while crap like Paris Hilton and the Spears woman is readily available for next to no money everywhere? It makes no sense.

Through sellers on eBay, I was able to purchase a vintage perfume in miniature form in a fitted box. First of all let me start by saying I'm a hardcore vintage frag collector and fan of old school fragrances. This one scratches my itch for vintage perfume. Smells like the 80's. And to be more specific fragrances from the 80's like Paloma Picasso. It has a decidedly feminine allure, and is a gorgeous opulent fruity floral musk. The aroma is to die for! Yes a little goes a long way so just a dab behind your ears or your neck/cleavage is all you need. It's as beautiful and classy as a vintage earl to mid 80's Anne Klein outfit. I see a long sleeved blouse with a plunging neckline and a lovely full skirt or a maxi dress with a floral print. Opens with peach, or rather a juicy apricot that floats above a slight aldehydic content. A lemon and bergamot orange take over and it's a standard citrus top. Fresh, perfumy, a tad sour but sweet, definitely fruity. It seems suited to summer time when one loves to catch fruity scents in the air. At the same time it has a delicious but not tropical or too tutti-frutti a scent. It reminds me a bit of the opening to Azzaro No 9. It's a lovely fresh opening but it does plunge into darker and greener forest scent as well as animalic musk. When the citruses disappear, my nose is caressed with the middle stage which consists of florals carnation, cabbage-green with red roses all around in the same bouquet, and jasmine. Iris in the form of orris is also present in the composition. So yes it is floral and quite mature in it's flowery heart. The dominant note for me is the carnation and the rose. This is a beautiful marriage of both flowers so that they overlap and smell like a gorgeous rich floral toilet water but with stronger longevity and a powdery softness. Womanly and confident, and the green notes around it give it a more realistic green garden scent. Finally in the dry stages the scent is nocturnal and warmer like a winter musk with a Paloma Picasso style civet. For me this is still a floral and the musk in the base is there to keep the florals from becoming too airy. I love musk and the patchouli and incense (benzoin) as well as sandalwood amber and vanilla are there to keep this fragrance from falling flat. It is strong and long lasting, multifaceted and a pleasure to wear and to let your nose do the work. I love how I can detect the creamy buttery vanilla, even if for moment, before it turns into a green herbal patchouli and a straight up musk. The amber tree is balsamic and Oriental but because of the florals and fruit in the earlier stages this is not a dark Oriental. Anne Klein II can be worn in the night time for formal affairs black tie galas and fancy dinners. She is an elegant lady but she doesn't have to try too hard nor spend too much of her money. This is like a stylish and fashionable ensemble put together without having to go to a Chanel or Dior. Smells 'American' in that sense. Something you find at a smaller independent boutique in New York City. By today's standards this is outdated but I think it's wearable if you wear vintage fragrances that have a similar green floral and musky scent. Like I said to me it is in the same league as Paloma Picasso. One might also wear this if one likes Revlon Scoundrel or Ungaro Diva as well as Joan Collins Spectacular or Givenchy III. She is classy and glamorous but she is not pretentious. Totally Anne Klein and I would not be surprised if she wore this perfume herself. My mother loves this parfum and I have bought her a splash parfum bottle as well. Great for late summer and fall.

Remembered that my Mom by chance had some AK items back in the 80’s, always with the iconic, stylized lion logo, very modern and classy casual. For me, the image does evoke images of tweedy blazers, cozy cowl neck sweaters, heeled brogues, pleated / A line or drindl skirts, all worn with confidence and strength out in public / an urban setting, to be less traditionally feminine, and more unconventional / innovative / adventurous. She may have had a small gift set spray as well, so when I stumbled across a hefty gift set of 3.4 oz. perfume spray, body lotion and shower gel, from Ross, I was intrigued, even though this spicy green exotic incense bomb is way out of my usual comfort zone. Luckily the scent was easily sniffed even through the packaging; it persistently clung to my fingers so well I thought maybe it’s leaking, but no, all safety seals under caps were intact. Figured not much to loose risking under $ 10 USD, maybe I can use it like room incense if it’s too strong / headache inducing / weird on my skin. It really surprised me, in a good way! Not only did it sneak up and grow on me, even though I can’t firsthand compare with the original, it’s quite fascinating with its contrasting fresh and earthy tones! Somehow both uplifting and grounded; a few sprays will be enough for most situations, and it doesn’t have monster projection as you might assume, based on confined space. I did need to store all of it outside of my small warm bedroom at night. Glad I branched out to give it a fair chance; it’s distinctive, but not as bizarre as quick casual tries might suggest...

Been using the original for years, on and off, and it really is the most wonderful fragrance utilizing the peach note. AK2 is a superbly rounded chypre with astonishing tenacity, and I am heartbroken to be on my last dribble of fragrance juice. Tried the re-issue, which frankly leaves me on one hand, cold, and on the other, boiling with rage of injustice at how badly it has been done. It's like watching someone spray graffiti and slurry all over the sistine chapel. I feel utterly cheated. Additionally, there is someone out there producing identikit AK2 reissue and it is even worse than the China made reissue, if that were possible. There is no discernible peach note in either of these and the chypre is ruined beyond recognition, there is no depth, nothing to get your teeth into. The original AK2 comes out of the nozzle cooing and seducing like the Lady From The Green Dimension in Lost In Space. You feel like a total goddess wearing it. Not so with the re-issues. Cheap, strangled, hobbled copies and it shows. Update: I have, after much searching and comparing, discovered someone who is making an oil version of the original Parlux formula. This is pretty much exact, and I have invested. Message me for the details all you deprived AK2 addicts, happy to share the love.

Firstly, it smells a bit like obsession at the start, I can smell the wonderful spicy cloves, which smells a little like must de cartier, and has a lovely vintage, refined scent, a little goes a long way.It is a multidimensional fragrance. Now I can smell a lovely ginger smell and strong florals, vanilla. It has becomes softer, but it has wonderful smell whereby you can be smelt easily about 1 metre away. This is spicy, strong sweet, perfume a fusion of cartier dragon, smell, but more complex and but the same great lingering power of cartier. As a avid fragrance appreciator, this is one of the best fragrances ever made.The smell reminds me of old money, vintage class and exotic leather in a good way. I would recommend to try a sample first, it you like rare, quality perfume it is treat to have for someone with a strong bold personality. It's distinction promotes sexuality and power. It is quite strong reminds me now of NU YSL fragrance. Anyone who likes vintage smelling perfume, the sillage is great I think it would last over eight hours due to its strength would appreciate this. A rare, delight treat of how perfume should be made and smell. A winter or an interview or a seductive perfume, remember a little goes a long way.

This review is for the new reformulated version of AKII. I'm wearing both the original and reformulated for comparison. The reformulated is much lighter, not having nearly the depth of the original. IMO, it's closer to a cologne than the stated edp on the packaging. While every now and then I get a whiff of the original, it's not an exact replica and smells sweeter and definitely has cinnamon in it, which the original didn't contain. I paid $30 online for two 3.4 oz. bottles of the reformulated version, so it's dirt cheap. If you're not willing to pay the exorbitant prices on Ebay for the original, the reformulation might somewhat satisfy your craving for AKII, just know that it'll be a shadow of its former self. Also, I'm a bit concerned because it's made in China, and there have been problems with handbags, food, clothing, etc. containing lead made there. I did spray it on the back of my hand for comparison purposes, but I think from now on if I wear it, I'll spray it just on my clothing. Personally, I doubt I'll repurchase it.

Anne Klein II Those vaguely described 'green' top notes should not be discounted, for the opening of Anne Klein II is a remarkable blend of two distinct styles, ...existing where Green-Floral and Oriental meet. For the first few minutes, one can't be sure which way this scent will travel. Will it dive into the verdant foliage with Chanel No. 19 and Halston, ...or else, allow the spices, resins, and vanillic amber to rise up fully? Finally, and perhaps as no surprise, the (literally) weightier notes of the floriental do dominate in the drydown, ... and what a grandly fine and exotic drydown it is. Yes, similar to the unrelated Calvin Klein's Obsession, ...but better! That bitter off-note I sometimes despise in Obsession is missing, and deliciously rich and buttery, gourmand-quality vanilla absolute takes its place. I must start listing this among the great florientals ofthe 80s, ...and one with the added intrigue of enigmatic greenery at the start!
