AH Eau de Parfum

First spray: two immediate things are happening, in equal measure. First, a beautiful women's dress shop my mom would go to in the late 60s and early 70s, that had this soft floral scent in the air. (If anyone's from Dallas, and that old, The Orchid Shop at Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs. Gone decades by now.) Second, my dad's good friend from Greece who was sophisticated, worldly, a bit of a playboy and always smelled great. But then, the two distinct things become one thing. There's nothing masculine or feminine, just human. Effortlessly sophisticated. The kind of person who can put on casual clothes, and always look right. The kind of person who tells a great story, and you want to be part of that story. The kind of person who is himself or herself, the same and authentic person, all the time, talking to a queen or a president or the sandwich delivery girl or the guy who cuts the lawn. So, yes, neroli and bergamot. I never did get the musk. Something warm and a bit sweet - maybe honey. No patch that I could detect. Lasts a long time, and it just becomes a scent, without definition, but good. I like. Good cause. And yes, Anthony Hopkins with his blue Welsh eyes and fearless fierce acting talent.

AH EDP is a warm spring day - right on the cusp of summer - picnicking in a field of jasmine in the late-afternoon sun... just as the air is starting to cool... having just eaten an orange. Take that feeling, have it distilled into a bottle, and you get this. Also, I am in love with the jasmine note in this. The citrus and the musk are super complementary notes, but that jasmine really resonates. Mmm. I love masculine-leaning jasmine. In short, this is an altogether joyful composition, and I recommend it highly. 9/10 (-1 for kind of disappointing longevity). **Edit** It looks like this has been discontinued. So glad I stocked up when I could.

I just received my two bottles of this fragrance and I will say that it is a very pleasant scent. My only negative comment is that it was advertised as unisex and there is absolutely nothing masculine about this fragrance. This is 100% a woman's perfume and because I got two bottles I would give them to my mother and sister. As for the fragrance itself it's actually a very beautiful scent. It's very floral and light and powdery. If you can get it for the discounted price it's well worth it!

This is the prettiest orange blossom I've ever sampled. I sprayed it on my wrists before going to bed and woke up to the scent as my hand was curled under my pillow and it still remained strong on the cuff of my pajamas. I don't think I've ever had such a delightful experience before with a fragrance. Like I woke up smiling because of it. I don't have anything else to say beyond the fact that it makes me happy and that in and of itself is worth a full bottle.

I also paid for 3 dollar sample, I also got targeted from Instagram... overall I love it. Main notes: ORANGE BLOSSOM, soapy jasmine, light skin musk. It fades a lot, but would you really want a STRONG orange blossom perfume? Nah. Fades very very light, can apply multiple times a day if wanted. I dont really get any of the other notes though. Delightful.

My first review. This is very powerful for a freshie, with a wonderful citrus opening, definitely leans more female but I don't have a problem wearing it because it isn't overly sweet. Very pleased with my purchase, would recommend. Pro: strong for a freshie Con: does not smell like liver and fava beans

Very nice and surprisingly long lasting! Nothing super unique, but I can't resist orange blossom, and this does it well. It's super easy to get a free sample of this, so if you have $3 to spare on shipping, I see no reason not to grab one. I will say that while it's a great list of ingredients, I'd love to be able to smell more than that initial, limited blast of citrus and white florals. I have a very nostalgic association with orange blossom that is specifically attached to visiting LA as a kid, so it does make perfect sense to me as the focus of a beloved veteran actor's perfume. Because of that association, it was easy for me to smell this and imagine good ol' Tony spending the twilight of his life in a big, beautiful backyard full of flowers. I definitely get a "rich person's retirement" vibe from this, the comfort of having lived a big life, and wanting to use the rest of it to enjoy simple pleasures. I know Anthony Hopkins isn't doing especially well lately, but it does seem like a best case scenario kind of illness, the kind that comes for anyone who's clocked enough time on the earth to ease comfortably into mortality. As someone who is still pretty young, I find it hard not to envy that a little, especially in times like these, when the future seems less and less like a promise to count on. But he at least seems to know his position is enviable because he's using this to pay for kids' meals, which is so sweet! We should all be so lucky as to be able to take on a fun new project that also helps people. I hope Anthony's doing well.

Blind bought this and it just came in today. This fragrance opens with a lot of orange blossom and then settles soon into a a bright bergamot and white floral fragrance that is completely unisex. Out of everything I’ve smelled in my life, this smells most similar to Thé Cachemire by Dior. I already own Thé Cachemire and love it, but I find this fragrance to be different enough from the Dior to warrant a purchase if you enjoy this style. In addition to the citrus and floral smells, I also get a very slight grape soda vibe now and then, which could be coming from the claimed musk note or maybe from the bergamot. While I think Thé Cachemire is a fragrance suited only to hot weather, I think this AH creation could be worn in moderate temps and hot temps. Is it a wow fragrance? If you told me to smell it blindly I would say it smells high quality, unique, and safe, but not bold. The wow factor for me is the fact that the legendary Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal Lecter) literally created this fragrance, modeling it after the smell of his childhood home’s garden. That is an awesome topic of discussion. And remember the mentions of perfumes in the Hannibal movies? I am so happy this fragrance and this brand exist.

Anthony Hopkins AH Eau de Parfum is a fragrance launched by the legendary Welsh actor himself that I discovered only recently, sold exclusively through a website set up for the sale of the perfume as well as candles and diffuser sticks, supporting the No Kid Hungry effort. So being a fan of the actor, seeing the price of the fragrance ($75 for 100ml), and its main notes being fairly agreeable (bergamot, orange blossom, musk—what’s not to like?), it was a fragrance that I was willing to blind buy, and as expected, it’s a pleasant, fresh composition with a little bit of heft (given the EDP concentration), albeit without an enormity of imagination, perfectly unisex and versatile, and just interesting enough to confirm for me that it was made carefully. It’ll be a nice option to enjoy with some fava beans and a niche chianti...f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f (I had to). 7 out of 10

At first whiff the bergamot and pepper come on strongly. Pepper often smells dated to me, like what I imagine a Hollywood bombshell from the 1940s would smell like. Thankfully the pepper graciously bows out after 20 minutes so that the mid notes can shine with the neroli leading the way and the honey just peeking through. The pepper remains but doesn't upstage the rest of the notes. Finally I get what I can only describe as a mature, elegant and refined fragrance that I think could remain ageless for the right wearer. Relatively seasonless except for perhaps a dreadfully hot and humid climate. I didn't get any powder at all (can't stand the stuff anyway). Seems very true to the notes. I'd say full bottle worthy for sure.

On my skin, I get an honeyed orange blossom bomb. Opening...citrus/white floral....musky underneath....the mid-notes remain as the driver of this fragrance..IMO. I don't "sense" patchouli...??? This has to develop on the skin....so I think it is a good blend of notes. Not overly powdery. This also projects quite well....can be borderline "cloying" for some people. Unisex...??..Well....I see all fragrances as unisex,mostly, but if I had to say.....this scent is feminine IMO. I really "like" this scent....but it is not "OMG " remarkable. ....but I keep on smelling my wrists...so...something there is capturing me....lol. Sillage/projection/longevity (on my skin)...is above average.

Got this half price for $37.50 (SAVE50). Even at $75 a bottle (100ml) this juice is worth it. Smells very grown up and sophisticated. The orange is dominant for a few hours until it gets to the dry down at about four hours. After the four hour mark I get a little smell of musk. I don't smell much else but it should be noted I don't have a practiced nose for fragrances. Website states it's a Eau de Parfum but performs only slightly better than high end EDT in my collection. However, for the price one should not complain. I bought two bottles, under $100 for 200ml of a well crafted EDP is a win.

I just received my bottle today. I had hopes that it might be truly unisex enough for my husband to wear and enjoy, but the orange blossom and florals are really prominent and not to his taste. I like it quite a lot for myself, however. I can definitely pick up the spiciness of the pepper and ginger, also the indole of jasmine and sharp zing of bergamot. A hint of muskiness in the drydown. It is a very inobtrusive fragrance - perfect for work and I think it would be well suited to warmer weather. Not quite the wow factor I'd hoped for but a very likeable and wearable fragrance.

I bought this because I was intrigued what Anthony Hopkins would come up with, and also because it benefited a good cause. I'm pleasantly surprised! To me, it's a smooth bergamot / orange blossom / musk that leans more femme. The other florals and bases serve to round everything out, but don't take the forefront. Fresh but not harsh. It's definitely not groundbreaking, but very easy to like, and evokes a feeling of pleasantness and peace.

I bought this on a whim due to instagrams marketing tactics, who can refuse half price? This is absolutely an underrated orange blossom/jasmine bomb. Beautifully done, cannot recognize any patch in this. If you don’t like wearing this it would make a fabulous home spray. This one will grow on you.

This is beautiful...it veers a tiny but more feminine to my nose...especially in the dry down. It vaguely reminds me of Irish Spring soap, which I actually enjoy. I wish the sweet n spicy opening lasted a but longer.

To my untrained nose, this is as close to a honeysuckle soliflore as one is likely to find. You can tell musk is there in full-force to boost the other notes, but this smells exactly like a row of honeysuckle shrubs in springtime. I don’t want to say it leans feminine, but it’s a little “softer” than most of the unisex frags I own. If you like sweet, dense florals and want to support a charity, this is worth checking out. I don’t know that I would recommend it outright. Initial projection is great, but drops off quickly, and I think most people will find it to last in the vicinity of 6 hours. It persists forever on fabric.

The front plate calls out “bergamot, orange blossom, and musk,” and that’s pretty much what I get. In the beginning, there’s a lot of peppery ginger and dry bergamot, and the orange blossom is a little astringent. The whole composition settles, though, and it becomes smoother and a touch sweeter. It’s a nice, bright orange blossom and musk scent, but it doesn’t feel groundbreaking. Definitely a winter wear .. would probably knock me over in warm weather. For as punchy as this seems at the start, longevity is meh .. it’s pretty quiet after 4-5 hours. Marketed as unisex, but leans feminine.

Neroli, bergamot, orange blossom, jasmine, rose, soapy musk. In that order. Extremely top heavy. Smells pleasant, clean and fresh, though more white floral intensive than I would like for myself. Quality seems good - there are no cheap or off-putting aspects. Definitely worth $3 for the sample, worth $40 for the 100 ml bottle only if you enjoy very old fashioned floral perfumes.

Neroli + honey. It is not my style but is nicely done and for a good cause at a fair price by an admirable man. I am not getting the bergamot, jasmine, musk, or the pink pepper, and I looooove pink pepper. Sample was a nice size too. Would love to smell this on a man, and there happens to be one around, lol...

Oh no! This did not agree with me at all. One of the few citrus and white florals combo that really has a terrible effect on my olfactory senses and induces me to an instant bad headache. Nonetheless, this is some potent stuff. It lingers for hours and hours, at least on paper. I had high hopes, therefore, not a blind buy success for me. Money down the drain. Sorry, Hopkins.

Smells like dish soap and old lady. Like an old, reclusive spinster... still waiting for her gentlemen callers after 50 years. Super powdery and soapy. Someone said chic. Thank you for that. It made me chuckle. Lol. I'm sure someone will love it. Silver linings! ;)

Bought on a whim and glad I did! I'm an orange blossom fanatic and this is big on the OB. Think high quality orange blossom soap fresh from the wrapper. I have a serious love/hate with jasmine (if you know you know...) but AH has that perfect effortlessly pretty jasmine hit that the OG Lauren had - sophisticated, delicate, lingering in the best way. I wear this exclusively in my hair so longevity is forever. The musk note is undetectable, so for spring/summer I pop it with a few sprays of Kiehl's Original Musk and it's absolutely DREAMY.

I liked the sample and ordered the full bottle. It never arrived, so I contacted Anthony Hopkins. Terrible customer service, basically said I had to take it up with USPS. USPS said I couldn’t file a claim as the seller hadn’t insured the package. I’m now trying to get my credit card company to take up the claim for me. I paid full price, and it’s a lot of money to me, so this is upsetting. Now I see that Anthony Hopkins’ site is down and the Insta for his fragrance is gone. I wonder if I’ll ever get my money back.

Goes on a light orange blossom cologne in feel, with nice tart high notes and creamy undertones. Dry down is very simple, a bit boring, orange blossom. Overall, it’s way too much orange blossom for me. The other notes are mostly missing. It would benefit from ginger and jasmine for sure, and the other notes also would lift this higher. On me, it’s mostly just a little girls’ orange blossom cologne. Eh. Good fund raiser though!

Nice. Not a wow. I don’t think you can go WRONG with this but I don’t think this will be one of my go-to fragrances, I’ll wait a while and wear it for a few days and see how it does with my chemistry. I’m not getting any musk at all, which saddens me. I’m glad to have contributed to a great cause and I’m a real admirer of Hopkins so I don’t regret my purchase. This might end up a re-gift. To be continued....
