Pharmacia Vanilla Doré

i've worn this a couple times just from trying the tester at anthropologie, and man, it's beautiful but it's definitely not unique. the comparisons other people have made are definitely accurate--it's that woody, smoky vanilla dna that you see in a lot of vanilla perfumes and body mists nowadays. this is somewhere between by the fireplace and vanilla skin. it opens with a blast of sweet, woody, smokiness, and dries down to a soft vanilla-y skin scent with a touch of depth. i absolutely love how this smells, but it honestly doesn't perform much better than a body mist so it's hard to justify the price, even with it being so affordable for a perfume. if it were stronger, this would be my signature fall/winter scent.

This is for the Rose Épícee fragrance from this brand, idk why it’s not on here but it’s their website & in store. The notes for this— Star Jasmine, Raspberry Champagne, Sandalwood & Golden Amber. This fragrance is amazing! It’s very sweet and fruity, but mixed well and doesnt smell all too “cheap”. There is a “bubbly” scent to it, it helps brighten this up. Definitely heavier on the raspberry champagne. The best way to describe this, is that it smells like a perfume. What i mean by that is i cant imagine anything else (ex. Body mists, shampoos, kid shampoos, lotions, candles etc.) smelling like this.,

I love By The Fireplace, but it’s a little too intense for work so I blind bought this one based on the reviews (and low price point). Truly amazing. It’s like a softer, sweeter By The Fireplace that isn’t going to overwhelm people! Definitely don’t expect a full on gourmand fragrance because it is still very woody/smoky, but there are more sweet notes to it than BTF. If you’re looking for a gourmand, I’d test it out before buying. If you love BTF & woody/smoky winter scents but just want something a tad bit on the sweet side, then this is a safe blind buy. Only downside is that it has poor longevity

The tastiest smelling scent of my life. Super warm, toasty and nutty. Perfect for those who like “not too sweet” gourmands, but also sweet incense-like smells like nag champa and sandalwood. This is also my shortest lasting perfume ever and I’m so disappointed because the scent is immaculate. The closest thing I could find is No.4 by Kosmala. Out of my entire collection, this is the fragrance my partner prefers the most. I’ll likely invest in No.4 as soon as I have the budget to do so

This is my favorite vanilla fragrance. It's frequently compared to By The Fireplace, which has a bold smoke note that makes that unwearable to me. Dore is a fall-winter-spring woodsy vanilla with perfectly done spiciness. Compared to Pharmacia's Cote Vanille, this one is fuller, richer, and has more character. I often go back to Cote Vanille to see if my mind has changed and every time, it's still Vanilla Dore by a long shot.

Outstanding vanilla scent. Slightly woody, a tad smoky, powdery and deep. On a verge of being a gourmand. Beautiful cozy scent for colder days and nights. More crowd pleasing and less polarizing cousin of Marc Jacobs Decadence. Days after spraying it on the sweater, I can still smell it - it's divine. Worth buying.

This isnt as sweet as i thought it would be, really heavy on the woody-ness and almonds. There is a vague sweetness in the background but enough for me. I got told i smelled like burnt wood from my family when i wore this, not a fan of that lol.

Smells exactly like by the fireplace. Will definitely grab this whenever my replica bottle runs out. You can’t beat the price and longevity is great for a $30 bottle

To me it smells like a musky toasted marshmallow, that’s it. It doesn’t change throughout the day, it’s just that. A very light scent though!

I purchased this fragrance a few years ago ( I swear this was not released in 2020, because I got it at Anthropologie in 2017 or 2018), before I knew about By the Fireplace. When I sampled By the Fireplace, I could smell the resemblance. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer Vanilla Doré. It is more vanilla-forward, with smokiness in the background, so it’s more of a dark, sexy vanilla scent, while I feel like By the Fireplace is the opposite, leaving me smelling like I just got home from a bonfire. I love bonfires, but I don’t want to smell like one unless I’ve actually been to one. So, yes, there are similarities between these two fragrances, but I think that Vanilla Doré is more wearable and enjoyable. It’s also more affordable.

I went to Anthropologie to pick up Outremer Vanille and ended up grabbing this one too. It's true- it smells like By the Fireplace, which I only smelled today! Only difference is that this is airier, more feminine and a tad sweeter (almost as if it had a dash of Outremer Vanille in it). I just looked up the meaning of "Dore" and it means gilded/bronze, which is very fitting. It's a balanced woody vanilla spiced with clove and pepper, very cozy! Decent quality and longevity for the price. It gives me the vibe of a nice collage girl that wears chunky knit sweaters, takes writing courses, and studies at local coffee shops.

Definitely decent quality for the price. Starts off a not super sweet vanilla with a slight touch of musk. As it dries down it gets woodier (cedar) and smokier with a touch of incense. By the time it dries down it’s all wood and smoke. It wouldn’t be my perfect vanilla. Because it’s got too much cedar. But for ppl who love a very woody vanilla it would be perfect. And again it’s great buy for the price - as decent longevity and projection.

Vanilla Dore is a lovely vanilla marshmallow that teeters on the edge of gourmand because it has a woody smokey quality that keeps it in the wood family not so much the gourmand family. The difference between the smokiness in this as opposed to something like Vanilla Woods is that the wood smells natural and sweet as opposed to a cigar smell. The vibe I get from this is sitting by the campfire toasting marshmallows.

I love this perfume! It's the perfect fall scent. I was looking for a sweet vanilla and blind bought this off of Anthropologie's website. Glad I did. Pros: Warm sugary sweet vanilla with a hint of cinnamon cream. Cons: Man....the longevity is not as strong as I like for it to be. Still get it if you love vanilla like m

What I expected By the Fireplace to smell like-- similar but vanilla is much more prominent

I like super sweet scents like Jessica Simpson Fancy, Outremer Vanille, etc, and I do not like this. It’s too burnt smelling and not sweet enough. Tried layering it with something sweeter (Solinotes Vanille) and it just ended up making the Solinotes smell not as good lol, I’d rather just wear something I like instead. Def selling this one

On me it was terribly woody, probably the cloves, my nose always reacts this way to that note. I had hoped for a stronger version of Guerlains SDV, but not for me, unfortunately. It is quite strong, though I can't smell the vanilla. Back it went and my search goes on.

So glad someone added this, I wanted to add this JUST to say it smells exactly like Replica Whispers by the Fireplace. I went to Sephora and sampled Whispers by the Fireplace, and had gone into an Anthropologie later on to stumble across this pharmacia fragrance and do a double-take between the sample strip I had and this bottle. Update: I hate both of those fragrances. I don't get the hype, it's so nauseating! I love gourmands but this one is way too harsh and knows no subtlety.

This is for Côte Vanille (not listed on Fragrantica). The notes are top: peach nectar, vanilla cream middle: freesia, vanilla bean base: sandalwood and tonka bean This is a simple but pleasing vanilla scent. It’s slightly gourmand but not cloying thanks to the florals, sandalwood and tonka bean (it also smells a little bit like coconut...) Doesn’t smell more expensive than it is (<$30 )but it does smell nice for what it is. If you want a warm weather appropriate layering vanilla that is a more interesting than just straight vanilla extract, this would be a good one. The dry down is a little like cherry chapstick but the vanilla stays for the entirety of the fragrance. It layers well with sandalwood, coconut, or citrus scents. Becomes a skinscent after 6 hours.

It's a woody vanilla accented with clove and pepper that's really comfy! For the price, the quality and lifespan are adequate. It smells exactly like being by the fireplace, but without the added smokiness. That vanilla smell is amazing. The scent begins with a not-too-sweet vanilla with a hint of musk. As it dries, it becomes woodier and smokier, with a hint of incense. It's all wood and smoke by the time it dries. Excellent scent!

I’m here to say it does smell like By The Fireplace but much more vanilla . Woody-vanilla-cloves . My husband and I think it has a unisex feel. I don’t think it lasts long enough, maybe because I’m used to strong long lasting fragrances. I love it very cozy and beautiful!! Update 8/11/2024 I’m just here to say BBW limited edition Vanilla Romance smells exactly like Vanilla Doré. Was an immediate purchase.

Definitely a passable By the Fireplace dupe. I'd describe this as "gilded vanilla". On the verge of being gourmand, but woodiness and slight smokiness pull this back into cozy rather than edible. I can see this as being very non-polarizing in a crowd, and at this price it's a bargain.

This smells so delicious, vanilla woods, smoky, and so comforting. I like it better than replica by the fireplace as it is suitable for indoor environments. Anthropologie has come out with some beautiful fragrances. I will have to try their other scents.
