Rusty Vibes

Big love. This is very heavy and dense, one of the richest frags I’ve tried recently. Reminds me of something Sheldrake/Serge Lutens would put out. The coconut and jasmine gives it an indolic tuberose vibe, normally I hate tuberose but this is nice. Two sprays is overkill at first but after an hour it dries down to very complex warm woody dry-amber fragrance with coconut and light florals. Not an everyday frag for me but I would like to get a 30ml at least. Most impressive aspect is how drastically it evolves over time while staying interesting, some many frags start off great then dry to something basic and boring. You can genuinely pick out all the notes at different stages.

Without looking at the notes or knowing anything about it this immediately upon first sniff reminded me of Vanilla Vibes. Then looking at the notes you can see the overlap, but VV is less sweet/fruity. I do prefer this.

First Impression : So, the first fragrance I'm going to share my first impression on is Rusty Vibes. I first sprayed the fragrance on paper as I didn't want to spray it on my skin without being sure whether I like the smell or not :p But the smell absolutely surprised me! I personally love the notes of tropical fruits and the notes that hit my nose upon initial spray were Passionfruit, Coconut and Vanilla. So, I had to try it on my skin! The fragrance initially smelled like a tropical fruit punch, like a mixture of Pineapple, Passionfruit and Guava with Coconut Milk. Gradually the notes of Vanilla, Milk, Incense and Amber became noticeable. I didn't get the smell of any floral notes on my skin to be honest. Basically Rusty Vibes smells like a refreshing and sweet tropical fruit cocktail with coconut milk and vanilla. The smell is not overpowering yet it creates a beautiful Scent bubble. Longevity was around 6/7 hours on skin with moderate projection. It's perfect for those who love sweet fruity lactonic perfumes. It's a perfect fruity gourmand ❤️ About The Brand: I've tried a few perfumes from the brand Antonio Alessandria. And I was amused at the fact that why this brand is not that talked about in the fragrance community? I looked out for more information on the brand and found some really interesting things. The Sicilian perfumer Antonio Alessandria launched this brand back in 2014. The first three fragrances were called “Hommage à la lune“(homage to the moon). And after the trilogy he started to add a new fragrance to the line every year. He takes his time to imagine and formulate each fragrance like a piece of art using the best raw materials to express his imagination into an olfactive feeling. "I imagined a fragrance that could talk about a quest for beauty in the circle of life, from purity to corruption. The circle of life starts from a flower that becomes a fruit, then the fruit becomes ripe, before decaying. I envisioned the possibility to represent the beauty of both purity - the flower - and corruption - the ripe fruit. But I didn’t want to forget my first impression of rusty iron flowers and I tried to give the fragrance a slight evil sparkle infusing the fruity notes with a sulphuric vibe. In the base I wanted a comfortable effect, enveloping and calming like pure beauty" -Antonio Alessandria

Like many other tropical fragrances, Rusty Vibes is cloying and unable to balance out the sickly sweetness of coconut and fruits in good time, worsened by floral middle notes and equally sweet base notes, making me feel a bit nauseous wearing it. Unlike other tropical fragrances, the tropical notes of Rusty Vibes are of remarkable quality, smelling like actual fresh coconut and passionfruit and not like powdery imitations. Thus I've come around on it as a remarkable piece of craft.
