The Secret

This one is actually impressive! It was one of my very first perfumes (I was 8 years old), but I recently tried it again. At first, I was completely shocked and went eww wtf is this odor, because it smelt sweet, but in a gross, sickening way (kinda like vomit or body odor) (I know this will get deleted anyway). However, as it settled down, I got to really appreciate it. The only note my nose picks up is the grapefruit. Citrusy, nice and pleasant. It seems like it lasts a long time on my skin! I sprayed it in the evening while trying out different colognes in the mall and I could still feel it the next morning. The Golden secret did not impress me at all, but I will try it out again soon. I definitely plan on buying/purchasing this in a few months. Now I am saving up money for another fragrance, which I want more, but this will always be something I go back to. The fragrance is pleasant and long-lasting. A great value for money.

my second fragrance, I'm blind buy this just from reading here But really... I don't have any regrets! It smells nice, sits on my skins for 3 hours nad have good sillage, although it decrease very quick when I'm sweating I like the leathe note, feel classy and make me confidence to interact with people Maybe I will buy it sometimes in the future, because I want to try another frags first But I really recommend this if people ask!

I received a sample, I liked it, passed about 4 months and today I tried it again, it is amazing, oriental, sweet, a little spicy. Mint gives great freshness, you should try this. Ummmm, when you smell this, you feel adventurous and romantic, free soul... It's for men, but when I smell this on men, it's funny, cause it smells like women perfume. So I wear it.

One of my first perfumes from the last decade, for me it is dominated by leather, cinnamon and wood, it smells seductive and mature, modern, warm and spicy, especially for night use, I love this flanker, but I must say that it lasts less than a sigh, if only it lasted longer I would put it in my top 3, it is similar to One Million by Rabane.

Bloody hell, I was thinking to myself, I wish there was a perfume that smelled like a new car... THIS IS IT!!! It smells exactly like a wonderful, high end, leather seat CAR!!!! The type that goes fast, sporty and expensive!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!! Owned by a girl of course cause it's kinda sweet... Definitely a must have!

my favourite fragrance for men! i find most male perfumes synthetic and bitter and the notes don’t make this sound sweet at all but it really is. my first boyfriend had this and I liked the smell so much I borrowed it multiple times... cheap maybe but I love the coziness the nostalgia the warmth and sweetnes it gives me.

Although this is supposed to remind you of 1 million, it really doesn't, not that much at least, it's a cinnamon-dominant warm spicy scent for the winter times, one of my first perfumes and great to get as a gift since it's very mass appealing

Thereis no cinnamon, I smell dry woodsy notes, a little bit of mint, stronger pepper and leather maybe, cause I don't know how real leather smells. I don't get much of grapefruit too. I could say it has maybe kind of dry vetiver scent.

My grandfather gave me this perfume as a gift, and I personally really liked it. It's similar to One Million, but I think it also somewhat resembles Dior Homme Intense.

I know this is a man's perfume but it's so good, and lasts for hours! the drydown is the best, a little sweet but not to much. The musk in this is delicious too =D

One of the best men perfumes I have ever tried. Just makes me happy and excited. If you want it to last long, spray it on the hair, clothes.

Last summer i was wearing the sample. It ended, and I want to buy a full bottle. In my opinion, it smells the best in warm and hot days.

Well if you want a tamed 1 Million smelling fragrance for fall and is 90% of the scent and costs under $20USD, look no further than Antonio Banderas The Secret. You can forget about Prime Gold from EAD, Multi-Platinum from Prefered Fragrance, Pure Gold from Diamond Collection, Gold Bullion by Sandora, 1 Billion by Secret Plus, No 1 Millionaire and countless others, this is a really good 1 Million smell alike in a non-gaudy package for maybe a few bucks more. Before anyone asks about Cuba Royal, well to me, it smells more like 1 Million Privé meets 1 Million Cologne, rather than 1 Million to my nose. The Secret is a far lighter 1 Million smelling scent due to the mostly copied DNA. It don't project nearly as loud, nor does it last as long but, who really cares when you pay of two thirds of the price at most for this? This is a little more of a casual night scent than the 1 Million grenade for clubs. The cinna-bomb, is there like in 1 Million but it is subdued. It has a nicer smell to it, especially as it dies down at about the three hour mark. The cinnamon, grapefruit and leather are the main notes I notice. The packaging fits the theme but unlike 1 Million and most clones, it isn't gaudy. The gold brick looks unique but it is on the gaudy side. This looks classy and traditional with elegance as a lock. Overall, I do like The Secret. I have to give it a 7.6 out of 10 for price, smell and decent performance. It's defiantly an upgrade to 1 Million clones and a cheaper, even better 1 Million (especially if it faces performance-hindering reformulation...) Update as of December 13, 2016: I think if you want a better dupe of 1 Million, The Golden Secret (a flanker to The Secret.) That is far more of a heavier night scent like 1 Million is. This is a little more flexible, especially in colder Fall days and the Winter. It can be used as a day scent at those times. Golden Secret cannot.

So, I got this as a gift from my (then) parents-in-law some 10 years ago, so it was way before my interest in perfumes had started blooming and I used it, now and again, until I started using it more regularly over the last few years and now the bottle eventually ran out and that's when I write my reviews. For starters I never felt like I saw some previous reviewer post that this became less potent with time. My last spritzes yesterday smell just as vibrant as the first time, from what I can recall. Which is to say, very manly, a bit too sweet, and also, to my nose at least, quite impossible to pinpoint the notes from. I read the notes that are supposed to be and go "really"? Or maybe I just don't know what cinnamon smells like, natively only using it in pastries in my country? And LEATHER? Possibly at the end when it becomes a skin scent (which it does fairly quickly but lasts REALLY long as), but if so a VERY sweet leather. I had an original super short review of this which I took down to write this more proper one, in which I claimed that if you take Jean-Paul Gaultiers Le Male (the original) and mix it with Swedish 80s bubble gum Jenka (yes this only makes sense to very few people here but this is all I can think of) you'll get this. I'm sure my dad will LOVE this, as will manly men around the world who like traditional manly smelling scents, although it's a bit too masculine for me, still being a man myself (mainly into unisex perfumes). But as far as bang for the buck goes you'll find it hard to find something of more value than this. Lasts a really long time for its price point and does smell really good.

Underrated..!! I tried Antonio Banderas' The Secret today and am pleasantly surprised. The Secret is a blend of citrus, musk, and with a hint of cinnamon notes that is very easy on the nose. As with other reviewers, there is a remarkable similarity to Paco Rabanne's One Million. The Secret is easy..!! Average performance - lasting about four to six hours at about arm's length projection - and perfect to wear at the office, leaving you with a fresh spicy aura most of the day. Additionally, I would suggest The Secret offers the flexibility to be worn any time of year and to/for most events. The Secret is modestly priced and is a great blind purchase. I am generally not a fan of the "celebrity endorsed fragrances", but The Secret is totally wearable - while not in my Top 10, it is definitely a keeper. My final tally for The Secret is 3.9 stars out of 5 stars. Maybe not a buy for the serious collector, but not a bad blind purchase to the collector adding a new (decent) fragrance.. Enjoy your day...

Got The secret for $9.99 (3.4 oz.) under the buy one get the other for $9.99 at Perfumania Puerto Rico. I believe the regular price is $29.99 for the 3.4 oz.. Yes, it is a tone down version of 1 Million, the first 30 minutes are virtually identical, and then The secret moves into a little different direction, more subtle, less projection. On my skin, The S lasts for 7 hrs, 1 Million for 10 hrs. Now, my 1.7oz. 1 Million cost me $56.99. In other words, it cost me 11 times the price of The S. 1 Million is not 11 times better than The S, without a doubt. Nowadays, I use The S a lot, and just keep my smaller bottle of 1 Mil for special events. My conclusion; if you like 1 Mil, buuuuuuyyyy The Secret,even for $30 bucks, it would still be a great deal.

This was the gift for Christmas I got from my wife ... The scent itself is not a novelty experience, but my wife likes this scent! Unfortunately, the head note is almost "One Million". At this point I was a little disappointed. : / The heart note and the base light are a bit lighter for me than wearing and lovable. Fortunately, Puig makes the quality guaranteed in the background! It's not a flamboyant phenomenon between the Banderas scents, but since I got my wife and I love the Banderas brand, it is for me that "good" category is ...... Instead of "One Million" craziness, it is a more interesting and affordable alternative still brings Spanish habit and quality (Puig!)

Ah The Secret by AB is a wonderful fragrance. Herbal cinnamon tones with strong citrus and woodsy musk base make for all the pointers in a mens cologne but the delivery of the scents make it pleasant and easy to pull off im the office, daily use or a night on the town. There isn't much in the way of longevity, this scent lasts only so long so repeated use is recommended, but at 15 - 20 a bottle on Ebay it really is a great bargain. You could go for Cool Water or the Calvin Klein brands for something safe but I would tell everyone to have a bottle of this because of its affordable price, good smell and the ability to bring in compliments.

Bought this on sale waiting for a flight for my partner years ago because I liked the smell; hasn't worn it for a while and put it on today. I asked what it was as it smelled lovely and familiar but hadn't smelled it for ages. He normally wears Sauvage which I love and this has the same sort of feel but fresher and a bit sweeter. If you like Sauvage give this one a go, it's great value. Doesn't quite have the same longevity as Sauvage, but good value for money and an all round pleasant scent.

Another good fragrance from Banderas. Yes it resembles Paco's 1 million but Secret is better. I love fragrances with Cinnamon note if done well. The cinnamon in Secret is done well just like in Spirit (another by Antonio Banderas). I also detect floral notes though I cannot quite put my finger on it. Geranium maybe? The sillage is above average, longevity is ok 4-5 hours. If you like sweet men fragrances with a spicy edge this one will make you happy. 7/10 Overall.

As we all know celebrity fragrances are poor, the just have the name but no quality. this one however is pretty good. The smell reminds me of 1 million but a softer version, very pleasing to smell. The sillage and longeivety on this are poor tho. The smell only lasts for about 1-2 hours on my skin. and sillage is pretty average. You have to stand very close to someone to smell. But for the price it is a great fragrance for your collection.

I was skeptical when I was given this...but you know...never look a gift horse in the mouth...just coming from Antonio banderas...a mediocre actor by the way...was a bit tricky to me...however and even when I do not like 1 million..I have to admit they're quite similar...it has that vibe indeed and even when much cheaper...I cannot say it smells neither cheap nor dated...a nice affordable fragrance for a third of the 1 million price....

I like it. Smells like a lighter version of 1 Million, but not overpowering and doesn't make an impact when you enter the room. You need to get closer to smell. It gives you that cinnamon/bubblegum hint, a sweet and enjoyable vibe. The price is very affordable, too (at least here in Brazil). I guess any ages between teenagers and men in their 40's can wear. Wouldn't wear to work, but to lighter parties and meetings.

This was my first fragrance and I love it! for 20 bucks it's great. Everyone including my friends gives me alot of compliments because the scent is unique. They even ask what frangrance I wear, but they do not know this fragrance. I don't know is it good or bad thing that everyone doesn't know about this fragrance, but at least this isn't overused. Great gift for friends :D

Smell Is Good No Doubt; I Haven't Sniffed One Million. But I Know The DNA And The Scent Profile Little By Using Oil Version Of One Million. When I First Sniffed This Perfume My Brain Clicked, I Know This DNA. Yes, This Is More Wearable Version Of One Million. But Performance Sucks! This Perfume Vanishes Within 1 Hour In My Opinion. After 30 Mints It Becomes Skin Scent!

Like others AB perfumes,good perfume but weak performer.But the price is very good,so for few hours activity,go for shoping,to the haircut or similar activity is ok.It's like beginer perfume,when you don't know so much about perfumes.Anyway very nice smell with vanilla and some wood and musk in the drydown. It's a shame that performance is so weak..

This used to be a staple in my collection due to how cheap it is; it smells nice, but it's quite generic and sweet. Its longevity is decent on skin; on clothing it seems to last forever for me, and its projection isn't bad either. I'd rate this a solid 6.5/10 due to how cheap it is for how good it smells.

Gift from my beloved grandma. Very straight forward pleasant smell of all the listed ingredients, lasts for a relatively small time. Tbh I just spray it on me and smell it whenever I'm bored. I think it's just that; intended as a gift. 10 buckos, no complaints, life goes on.

A good scent. Yes, it IS similar to 1 million. If you want a fragrance not so invasive like the golden bar, but with a very similar scent, that's what you're looking for. And the price is very attractive. Go for it. Only con is about longevity. Lasts on me 4-5 hours max.

This is a bold, masculine, young scent. Often seen in big box stores for ridiculous low price. Cheap looking bottle. Terrific sprayer. I'm out, and miss it. Definitely buying more, this is a bargain that smells as good as fragrances costing triple the price.

I just bought this perfume for $40 retail at mall in Jakarta. (you can buy this for $20 at local online shop) Opening = fresh orange Middle = Wood Soapy Drydown = Wood Soapy, Spice I like the Evaflor Origin better.

If you think that The secret reminds 1 Million wait and see to The Golden Secret, already available here in Brasil. Everything that miss in The Secret to be a millionaire Banderas puts in the Golden Secret.

Like other reviewers, I do find it similar to 1 million, but softer and less spicy. I do find it pleasant, although sillage and staying power are not that good.

It's not a bad scent, it's very inoffensive and enjoyable. My younger brother wore this for like a year, honestly for its price it is very decent!

I have bought this fragrance twice in my life. The second bottle spent some 8 years in a drawer ever since I moved to Canada. One day I decided that I needed to wear some cologne and I found it and sprayed it on. I believe that sitting there for such a long time might have affected its properties. The smell did not last more than 2 hours, so I had to use it as a body splash for after the shower and before going to bed. The smell of mint was very pleasant though. EDIT: I decided to give it another chance and bought a bottle from a fresh 2021 batch. OMG I now realize that my old bottle was way too watered down, bad a hell. This one smells so much better than what I recalled. Combination of apple, cinnamon and mint make a beautiful match with its sweet ,leathery finish. This fragrance is brilliant, delicious, super masculine, yet discreet and seductive. I am glad I re-purchased! I am enjoying it now more than 10 years ago!

I disagree with the Gender votes' results. To me this smells like a new car, not a classic fancy woody leathery car but an ordinary car with those synthetic sweety smells. Cinnamon is the most prominent note which keeps the fragrance very warm spicy and sweety, pretty feminine to me. The Leather is rather synthetic and gives the fragrance that appearance for most of its development. Grapefruit brings it back to the male side a little bit but it is present only at the opening, then it fades away taking away the masculine blueish tone the fragrance had. Overall is pretty much an Unisex fragrance to me. I can truly imagine this for a woman at the office, at a job where she had to dress formally but not too much, just to smile and attend customers from behind a computer or something, or for men at a semiformal party. Retail job girl or casual party guy. Sweet Spicey Synthetic Leather.
