Quorum Silver

For the price of Quorum Silver, it represents incredible value. There are scents double and even triple the cost, which are not as well blended, or as good quality as this. As others have indicated, the main note in this is Cedar, which is the fulcrum; surrounding this are the other notes listed which compliment the cedar at different points. Off the bat the scent is paired with orange and bergamot, which gives it a bright, sparkling opening; leading to a hint lavender and ginger which sweetens the scent somewhat. The cinnamon, pepper and nutmeg, do most of the heavy lifting of the cedar, emphasising the spicy element of the cedar, but they never smell too 'hot' or irritating, as some spicy scents often do. Then maybe after 4 hours the patchouli and amber round the scent off to an earthy, pleasant aspect. Throughout the scent, it retains its sparkling nature, never becoming cloying or unpleasant. The only discordant note in Quorum Silver which I detect is after the lavender and ginger give way to the spicy heart of the scent, there is an air of something 'burnt' (the cardamon mixing with the nutmeg?), it's feint, but it's definitely there. Though that recedes as the scent progresses. Personally, I also would've preferred the lavender and orange to be much more prominent, though that's a small quibble as it is a very well made fragrance for the price. In spite of its composition, it is not just for Autumn, Winter or evening wear, but is truly versatile, and suitable for any occasion. 7/10.

I will not lie or even attempt to explain the “why” of my adoration for this fragrance. First and foremost, there is a nice vintage vibe to it that is well done and still makes it quite wearable today. It reminds me of my Father & older brothers after a shower and shave and getting ready for the day or evening for a night out on the town. Just a clean, spicy yet fresh with woods fragrance. The ginger, citrus and other spices meld beautifully with that pinch of nutmeg & pink pepper in the mids. I do not catch any cinnamon notes at all. But, the enchantment for me is all in the later drydown with that Virginia Cedar & Patchouli accord with a light Amber essence that seals the deal. Those top & mid notes are not completely gone as they dance in and out during the wearing that just puts a grin on my face the whole day. It’s not a projection monster nor do I desire it to be. Just a well rounded and masculine fragrance that hints of the flavors from yesteryear while still having enough of a modern twist to be worn just ea easily today. Not for young folk or those that just prefer things on the sweeter side. But, if you grew up in the 70’s & 80’s and remember those pungent and in your face Fougeres and aromatic creations, Quorum Silver will take you back with a scent traveling time machine for a nostalgic yet chic ride to indulge your senses and assert what a masculine vibe was. And for the price of entry, it’s a steal and well worth the trip down memory lane. Antonio Puig did us a solid.

"THUMP!" That's the sound of the perfumer dropping the mic after their first sniff of THIS creation. Hear me out on this and you'll see what I'm saying. The perfumer managed to make the ideal man's fragrance! I don't mean ideal smell (although omg this is GOOD) ...I mean if a woman could describe her ideal man through a fragrance ...she would describe Quorum Silver: "He is so handsome that you WILL be proud to have him by your side. There is no doubt of his strength, but he doesn't need to grunt while lifting weights to prove it. There is a smooth side to him to where you can't help but melt in his arms. There is a longevity and energy to him that makes you feel pleased that he'll last longer and perform better than most. There is a mature side to him that lets you know that he has his sh!t together. Last but not least, there is a bright side to him that never fails to lift you up on even the worst of days, no matter the day of the month." There's more... Not only is this a masterpiece on it's own ...but dare to layer this with any fragrance that is missing those characteristics and it will most likely make the other fragrance better. Let me sum this up by saying that this is no gourmand panty dropper ...this is for the man who doesn't need a gourmand panty dropper. "THUMP!" Amazingly blended, year round, 30+, 10/10

This was a blind buy, based on positive reviews here. I am glad I took those reviews to heart and gave it a shot! I don't profess to have a connoisseur's nose for all the ingredients, but I find Quorum Silver to have successfully nailed the spicy, cedarwood elements. There's a pleasant peppery element, and do I detect a hint of leather? Not many others have indicated that aspect, but I sense it in the background. Quorum Silver is a very masculine scent, which for guys in the under-30 crowd will make them stand out from the cloyingly-sweet metrosexual scents so common in clubs and bars. There's an older-guy essence about it, but in sort of a hip, "Mad Men" (the TV series) kind of vibe. As others have noted, Quorum Silver softens and improves with the dry-down, but this seems to me to be rather "linear" in nature: the essential elements remain consistent from start to finish. For me that enhances the perceived longevity, and I like this scent from start to finish. Scent: 8 Longevity: 9 Sillage: 8 Overall: 8.5 Purchased at Marshalls/Winners here in Canada, at $14.99 for 50ml bottle, which makes this the best value in my cabinet. **EDIT**: A friendly reminder. Like its sibling product, Quorum, these bottles emit a prodigious amount with each spray. Each spray of Quorum Silver is like two shots of most other bottles.

Quorum Silver is a great smelling, relatively long lasting, big bang for your buck fragrance. It's also made by Puig who, in my opinion, puts out and continues to make some of the highest quality fragrances that don't smell synthetic and beat out many houses that sell juice for 5-10 times the price. Quorum Silver is a bit linear, in my experience, but has always gotten compliments; not only from my wife, but from men and women I work with, waitresses at restaurants and bars, etc. It opens up with lavender and a slightly citrusy peppery ginger with a definite presence of cedar. The citrus and lavender fade and the fragrance dries down to a lightly warm and slightly spicy (amber and nutmeg/ginger) cedar and woody scent that lasts between 5-7 hours. The amber is anything but "old man/woman" and the spice is fresh and not a stagnant cinnamon/clove that people normally expect when they hear "spice". It's warm and strong enough to wear in colder weather, yet dry and fresh enough to wear in the summer. Some people say it smells mature, but I disagree. I'd agree with it being "mature" if mature meant college-age+ as this never goes anywhere near the geriatric powdery-floraly-musk that I associate with more mature fragrances. Even as a blind-buy Quorum Silver is a no brainer.

This is the first time I am very happy to put something that cost less than 15€ in regular rotation, and it is possible that I rate it a tad higher than otherwise because of that. Quorum Silver is really well made. Not sure about what someone calls a lack of complexity compared to more expensive fragrances – I am prepared to challenge you for blind testing. Having said that, you should not expect a huge performance. But on the other hand, it performs on par with and even better than many high end colognes and EDTs – better than all offerings from Acqua di Parma. The big surprise for me is that the mandarine becomes more prominent in the drydown, and I get less cedar than I was led to believe was there. The opening is more complex and woody-spicy in my view than the dry down. However, I do not find it rough at all. Rather surprisingly, it feels a bit ozonic/airy, and actually slightly metallic. But that is in the sense polished metal, like your recently waxed car; more rounded and musky than, say, the style of Ganymede and H24. It sits perfectly between the fresh style of the 1990s and hypermodernist trends that was ignited by Terre d'Hermes and Encre Noire. Add some initial barbershop references on top, maybe, as a nod to the Quorum OG. Try it.

This cheapie blows most niche attempts at spiced woods out of the water. Excellent quality for around the same price as you can get Encre Noire (about $20 at your preferred discounter). It opens with the most realistic cedar, bright and searing, like the inside of a newly carved jarana (a ukelele-sized string instrument carved out of a single piece of cedar, used for playing Son Jarocho in Veracruz, Mexico). A combination of warm and fresh spices keep it sunny throughout, featuring primarily a crisp, almost candied ginger and a floral lavender, as well as the nicest nutmeg accord I’ve come across. The pink pepper sparkles and the guaiac wood in the drydown is a heavenly, semisweet balsamic stick of palo santo. The effect is remarkable: it goes from bracingly refreshing to soothingly warm, all in one fell swoop. And it’s delicious, start to finish. (Incidentally, the sprayer pumps out copious amounts of juice in a finely distributed mist; another great feature you don’t expect from a cheapie.) There’s a reason why I keep coming back to it, despite having pricier niche and designer classics in my wardrobe. A veritable mood lifter that’s office friendly and lasts easily through the workday. Fantastic.

I have just opened the box and sprayed it on me and I am blown away... I mean WOW!!! What a gorgeous smell. It is so unique and warm and so charming. How can a cheapie make such a huge impact on me? This stuff never gets more expensive than 15 euro and it just smells heavenly...I don't get the big luxury brands as they keep trying to copy each other's scents and literally robbing us for the same kinda smell under different logos / bottles and meantime here comes this very low cost brand (Antonio Puig) and creates such a gem for pennies...That is why we always have to keep an eye on the cheapies, because we can find treasures!! As I just received this bottle, I cannot say much about longevity neither sillage but I will defo test it these days. After half an hour it seems quite linear (not a bad thing at all) and to my nose the nutmeg is very prominent which is very well balanced with this sweet, cedar basenote. I am really impressed and glad that I dared to blind buy it for a ridiculous 10 euro.

Promised myself I was buying no more fragrances and yet there it was, calling to me, giving me kissy faces and dangling it's sexy price tag in front of me.....15 euros....I couldn't resist, resulting in my second 100ml bottle purchase of this little flirt & three sprays in the car later my olfactory blows it's load and I'm in heaven. When you spray this, what you get is freshly cut wood shavings with some spicy ginger all around you. Someone below has said it's a bit rough around the edges and that's a good description but it's only initially like that. It settles down and gives you a great feeling of masculinity comfort. I don't care if younger guys say this is dated, old fashioned or not ultra mega projecting. I'm a happily cranky 42 year old man who loves his sport, beer and TV and I would sniff this all day off a homeless dude if he was next to me wearing it. This was made for 80's & 90's kids today for applying after the shower to kick back with some cold ones watching the football!

Nice! I was looking for a predominantly Cedar scent (for sentimental reasons, no pun intended). On the opening, a very sharp Ginger note and some Mandarin along with Cedar. After 15-20, Nutmeg comes in; a few minutes more, the Cinnamon and Pink Pepper. These are all quite prominent along with the Cedar - so no, this is not a pure Cedar ("lumberyard") scent by any means. In the prolonged drydown (4-6 hours) the Cedar gradually decreases and Patch increases with a nice touch of Amber sweetness. Classy, all in all. An interesting thing: After 5 hrs or so (as the Cedar has mostly receded) I sprayed on some Aramis Havana. Wonderful! The depth of Havana was nicely augmented by the Patch and Amber of Quorum Silver, and the cinnamon note of Havana fit right in and took over from the cinnamon of Quorum Silver. Happy with this scent (especially for the price). Could be worn formal, informal, any season and any time class is called for or is wished to be displayed.

This is amazing. It's amazing in its own right, and then it doubles its amazingness for being £8 delivered. It's very woody, with an element of pepper and lavender. It has echoes an updated, dynamic, more complex Marc Jacobs Bang, meeting the legendary YSL Pour Homme, meeting woooooood. It is dry dry dry, ultra-masculine and a wonderful bridge between the classic masculine NON-powerhouse scents of the 60s/70s by Dior, Guerlain et al, and contemporary spicy flavours. It really bridges a lot of perfume generational divides in an engaging way. As such, this is a scent any age could rock, but it'd be a great scent for a young man seeking to graduate from easy, airy freshies to something which stayed fresh, but added depth and interest. That said, it's just a lovely, interesting scent. It'd be excellent for most people who want something pure, dry, astringent, masculine, and linking classic and modern.

Starts off smelling exactly like cedarwood - it's as if I'm smelling a lumber yard, but mixed with some slightly sweet spices (possibly nutmeg and ginger). This fragrance leans masculine but could be unisex due to the slight sweetness. It basically smells exactly like wood, pencil shavings and all. As it dries down it still smells of cedarwood predominantly, but I can now also smell nutmeg, ginger, pink pepper, and a small hint of cinammon. This is like Mr. Burberry but less sweet (way drier) and without the citrus topnotes. If you want to smell like a lumber yard (but without smelling bad per se), this is it. Sillage is moderate while longevity is also moderate at about 4-5 hours. I wish this was stronger in longevity and sillage but it's to be expected at $16 per 100 ml. In any case, it really gives an authentic feel of wood but with a slightly sweet/spicy aroma to it, so I really like it. 4.5/5

Re-review after wearing this for a month or so: I think this is great, it somehow manages to blend woodsy spicy cinnamon-nutmeg like scent with a fresh out of the shower vibe, maybe like a cedarwood aftershave? not sure I've smelled anything like it. The spices do read old-school, it feels vaguely similar to some cologne/aftershave/bodywash my dad used to wear, but not really 'out-dated' to me, just nostalgic. You won't smell like an old man wearing this. It makes a great everyday wear, both due to the price, and because it's super flexible, spicy and warm for cold weather- but fresh enough from the aromatic and citrus notes enough to not be overpowering in warm weather. It makes a great signature scent. 9/10 Edit: over the past 2 years this has soured into a more acrid alchol-y scent, it's worth buying a new bottle in case it gets discontinued and suddenly becomes 10x more expensive

Quorum Silver is a wonderful scent. The guaiac wood and cedar are showcased with balancing sweetness provided mainly by ginger but also relying on the cardamon and cinnamon. Beautifully blended for sure. I love Azzaro Visit and this has a vibe that is similar, however it is a little sweeter. It still has that woody blurriness about it that you get when you smell wood notes that drift into your smell-a-vision but its hard to focus on the individual wood notes. Wife likes it. Daughter likes it. You might say its a sport version of Visit? Its not nearly as dry as Visit but its from the same vein. Let me know if that's a bell ringer for you. I keep finding over and over again that expensive is not necessarily better in the fragrance business. Puig is a master at the craft of economical scent value. I found this for $12 on Ebay. *Blank stare*

Quorum Silver and Quorum are just about as related to one another as green shag carpet and beige berber-same function, perhaps, but styles are worlds apart. Now that the feeble analogies are out of the way, let's get to the fragrance, shall we? QS is often mentioned in "best bang for the buck" discussions, and skeptical readers may dismissively wag their heads thinking "how good can a $15/100 ml fragrance be? Surely this one is overhyped." For the price of a New York City cheesburger, you can own a delightful cedar/ginger/soft spicy fragrance that transcends the trends and fragrance fads. It smells masculine, pleasant, and of good quality. I have had many cheapies come and go in my collection, but this one has remained on my shelf from the beginning. Every time I wear it I am reminded of how nice it is.

Just got this on a discounter site for $9, which means that with the sale of Puig to one of the big conglomerates, this will probably be discontinued due to lack of profit. This will then go up to $150 on Ebay because it will be worth it! So buy it now. This is primarily about cedar, nutmeg and oakmoss, done in a dry style. Classy but not too serious. Masculine but in a Pierce Brosnan kind of way. I personally do not understand the Azzaro Visit comparison, as that one is sweet, all about the orange blossom, and smells like Mont Blanc Individuel. This doesn't, thank god. Signature scent, year round, casual to formal and definitely work. I wore this to a party last night, and three women complimented me on it, which virtually never happens. But more importantly, it makes me happy when I wear it.

Is it possible to dislike the opening of one of your favourite fragrances? Apparently it is for me. I can’t smell the opening of this one and I say can’t but the fact is that I don’t want to, because it’s harsh and so alcoholic that it seems like a punch in the nose. But then there’s the rest of it. I would smell what comes after the opening with my ears as well, if I could use them to smell it too. It’s the cedar and the cinnamon that intertwined with the rest of the dry woodiness makes this fragrance so elegant and addictive to my nose. It is spicy in the way that a freshly sharpened pencil is, and in a very good way. I smell sawdust and expensive woods, lemon peel and nutmeg. It makes me feel like if my sweat had a universally aphrodisiac smell when I’m wearing this.

Lovely scent... just don't overspray it. I have fond memories of the original Quorum. The silver version smells even better and it does not smell outdated. It's well-blended together but you do make out the ginger and lavender notes at the opening... very nice. On the drydown the cedar and patchouli come out and magic happens. This is not a patchouli bomb... it's just the right amount and it marries perfectly with the cedar. There is something beautiful in this fragrances that reminds me of pre-reformulation Chanel Antaeus (a classic early 80s scent which imho was a absolute masterpiece) but again, with more cedar. Top quality fragrance at an excellent price. Good all year round (if sprayed in moderation), day or night. Absolutely lovely.

What a nice treat for a cedar lover like myself. A lively burst of mandarin and ginger out of the gate is followed by an authentic cedar- not too sharp or austere but smooth and gently balsamic. This finished accord is just delightful- fresh, sorta fruity-spicy, woody, and even slightly effervescent. A cozy heart of mostly cinnamon and nutmeg (some lavender too) preceeds a drydown of predominantly warm cedar with rubbery-smoky nuances from the guaiac. Moderate performance overall, a gentle texture, and year-round versatility. Puig does it again- no suprise (well, some actually...the price is so refreshing)! (A gift set including a large bottle of EDT and aftershave came to just under $20. Are you kidding me?!?)

Smooth, dry cedar wood & spicy, fresh ginger... This is a very pleasing and very nice fragrance. It's a cedar & guaiac wood surrounded by mandarin, pink pepper, grapefruit, lavender jasmine and amber (with hints of fresh ginger). Warm, smooth and spicy. It may be priced cheap, but it smells expensive. A great choice for men or anyone who wants to wear it. Spicy, woody, ambery musk. Not ground breaking but incredibly nice and sophisticated smelling. You can't go wrong with it. Enough complexity to set it apart from most male-designed fragrances. A good choice which smells modern, sophisticated and not boring at all! Highly recommended from Puig!
