White Smoke

wow...this one is amazing! it's a deep and sweet resinous affair, a little like sahara noir by tom ford. the benzoin is mad deep on this, with the labdanum there in the background. wonderfully resinous and balsamy and just wonderful. be warned, it is THICK and sticky. must be entirely natural and with a high perfume/oil content. wondeful!

I have to disagree strongly with the reviewer who said that this perfume is almost a match of CB I Hate Perfume's Burning Leaves. I ordered a sample of White Smoke when I was waffling over buying Burning Leaves because of the price. Also, the fact that White Smoke is made of natural ingredients really appealed to me, so I wanted to like it. And I have hesitated to write a review of White Smoke, because Anya's Garden is a smaller company on an admirable mission. However, I hated White Smoke. While CB BL has a mellow, very "natural" burnt leaves smell described well in many of its reviews, WS is another story altogether. It does have a smokiness to it, but there is something else... (as I have said before, I am new to the world of fragrance, and I don't have all the words to accurately describe elements of scent) I can only relate it to a high-pitched sound, a shrill, harsh note, reminiscent of burning rubber. It gives me a headache. It is ironically, noxiously synthetic smelling. It is so very different from CB Burning Leaves, which I love.

This smells exactly like Tabac Aurea from Sonoma Scent Studio, to the T almost but Anya's is a tad too sweet for me... I have a whole ounce of it. It's also very sticky for some reason.
