Velvet Rope

What an odd and intriguing scent! I smell grapefruit more than anything else, with a hint of something minty (I assume this is the juniper.) After a bit, I start smelling the floral. I agree it is a jammy smell. It doesn't translate specifically as Jasmine and rose, which pleases me. I smell a hint of the cypress. The vanilla is also very apparent throughout the experience. I give it 2 thumbs up.

Velvet Rope is super boozy to me, like some kind of designer martini. For that reason I find it's name quite apt. I perceive the rose note to be quite jammy, almost gourmand. It's balanced by the fresh spiciness of juniper & cypress. The grapefruit note is nicely bitter. Definitely interesting. I've actually been looking for a fragrance with a strong gin note, but I think Velvet Rope is a bit more conceptual than what I'm looking for. I kinda want something that'll smell like I've doused myself in Boodles.

OMG i think i've just sprayed the very last bits from my tester and i might just have to seek this one out, somewhere... this perfume is totally not the sorta stuff i go for, but, it goes to show how individual notes, accords etc don't account for or result in you liking or loving something. this scent is rare (for me) in that it doesn't feature anything especially unique or special, it features mostly common and unspectacular ingredients. but, as a whole, it intrigues me to the point where, i think, i want to own this perfume. when sprayed and taken in, it conjures up images of a post-anxiety episode. the relief, calm and peace of a moment directly after having done something stressful or difficult. the satisfaction in knowing that "you're done" for the day or week or whatever. the feeling that you're free and clear for the next few days, and that you don't have to worry about having to worry, if that makes sense. that's what i get from this scent. i can't even remember how i got it! i think i bought a shedload of samples from TL or LS and they just threw it in, free of charge. it must be that, because i have NO clue or link to having ever ordered this. in fact, i would never have ever heard of this scent/brand had i not received it unsolicited! i'm glad i have it, it's an unusual 'like' for me, and i think i'm gonna hunt it down...

This is a review of the roll-on oil. I was seduced by the nocturnal, clubby, best-Janet-Jackson-era connotations, and while I think this is a very good scent, it's not particularly dark or luxe. If anything, it reminds me of an end-of-summer outdoor tea party. There's the sweet, pastry-like vanilla, the pleasantly tea-like green and herbal notes, and a squeeze of lemon. The opening is my favorite, with its balance of sharp juniper and and smooth vanilla. As the scent wears, vanilla crowds out the other notes on my skin, rendering the fragrance a faintly green-tinged, coconutty vanilla. Velvet Rope is lovely and easy, but I do wish the vanilla had been dialed down a touch.

This is what the inside of a purse smells like with cherry chapstick residue or carmex maybe inside. It’s sexy, alluring, playful, and most of all kind of bubbly. It makes me sniff away at it curiously which I absolutely love in a perfume. I’ve only tried this and IF from Apothia, but I really wanna get a bigger size of this in the future. It’s a really intriguing vanilla. Just like a fizzy cocktail with the secret ingredient (shhhhh.....dr.pepper) :)

My first try with this was of citrus, tea, vanilla, then spicy fruit. A coconut note came and went leaving a faint leather note with the spicy fruit. I tried it a few weeks later and got a sharp citrus with florals, lacking the warm undertones I'd loved the first time and making it hard to wear. I think if this works for you, it really works. If it doesn't, expect it to change, sometimes pleasant and lovely, sometimes aggressively sharp.

All Apothia scents have Martini note which I really love. Velvet Rope is no exception. Imagine a woman with a long dark red velvet dress and glass of cold Martini in her hand,- that's how I see Velvet rope. For my nose it has the smell of coconut in the top and middle notes, even though it's not in the pyramid. Velvet rope is a very soft fragrance, soft like velvet and bitter sweet like Martini, alluring, warm, cosy. Love it!

I own this scent. Sometimes in a quest for the unique and unusual I make a mistake. This might be the one. I paid $90.00 for the bottle and have been using it as a room spray...I imagine the candle is a more appropriate mix for this complicated expression of odor??? I have been experimenting with a concoction of this fragrance with Marc Jacobs Daisy, but I feel as if I am wasting my "Daisy".

I get pine and anise along with the vanilla, amber, and musk -- am I crazy? Not at all what I was expecting. I love the name and was thinking it would be more creamy. In the sampler, Pearl smelled like what I thought VR would be in this batch of samples.

Fresh and soft. Has an almost baby-like scent to it, vanilla and musk is very prominent, but not overpowering. Makes me think of sitting in an opera house, makes me imagine high-society. It's just a truly pretty summery scent, and I am in love with it!

This feels like mix of red berries, rose, vanilla, musk. This is complicated and elegant but somehow not polished and it doesn't shine. It had potential, but It didn't happened.
