Gentleman

I love this stuff! I've been wearing this all winter and it's a great scent for the colder months. When you first spray it you get a fresh blast of spicy, yet cool black pepper. Very sharp. This is what got my attention initially as it is very different compared to aramis's other offerings. This is quickly followed by the ginger before drying down to a lovely spicy and sweet scent. Not very complex, but just fantastic in its simplicity. It lasts ages, it's powerful stuff and pretty heavy...so I wouldn't wear it in spring/ summer. Its quite a mature scent, not in the same way as aramis is usually thought of, but I can imagine a more professional, sophisticated young man or older gentleman wearing this....not the young lads hitting the clubs haha. Saying that, I am only 23 but I tend to favour the more "mature" scent over sweets and citruses...you know what I'm talking about! This is definitely the most appealing aramis for people around my age, but still, well, aramis! This isn't anything groundbreaking but an overall great scent. Spicy, sharp and cool pepper notes with ginger followed by warm spicy sweetness for hours! Had a good few compliments on this from woman too, which is always good ;-) P.S. if you like Bvlgari Aqva then you'll definitely like this. To me, it is very similar with the cool and spicy black pepper. The difference being a much warmer and sweeter dry down with aramis gentleman. I see Aqva as my spring/summer equivalent to Gentleman. EDIT: I also have to say in relation to an earlier review, this smells nothing like terre d' Hermes! These are totally different to my nose, but hey that's just me. Try it yourself!

This is a re-review as I have changed my position slightly on the first. I'm not quite sure what others are smelling here judging by the reviews but I think Gentleman is a good, solid fragrance. Yes it's more appealing to a younger crowd than it's predecessor but that's not a negative because to my my nose it carries enough of that classic, masculine vibe to work. Opens with a lemony sharp citrus, pepper and ginger then dries down to a hinted at original Aramis, moss, suede and a touch of patchouli. This is just a backdrop for the ginger & spices which are present but not invasive. The problem with a scent like this is that folks who like a good strong masculine fougere or aromatic fragrance will find it toothless and weak. Whereas those of us into more modern fare might find this not inspiring or different enough...so Aramis Gentleman can't really win either way. The reason I enjoyed Gentleman so much was because I fell out with Aramis some years ago, finding it to be a clumsy sledgehammer of a fragrance and some of this flankers just seem more focused and this one is no exception. When I put it in perspective I think I prefer it to the likes of Dior Homme Sport which has similar notes but couldn't be more different in delivery. Good news for this one then, smell wise. Unfortunately the longevity isn't there and it stays close to the skin but I still want a bottle.

Aramis Gentleman for me is a really lovely fragrance. It smells wonderful and it's really enjoyable throughout the performance from start to finish. As a serious Aramis fan this lives up to the Aramis expectations that speaks quality and class and you get more that what you pay for. I admit the projection for Gentleman isn't a monster around 4ft and the longevity is about 6hrs+ it has a touch of that Barbara shop about it but not over done. It has a really good balance as each of the notes compliments each other! I paid about £28 for a 110ml bottle and I'm very happy about that. It is definitely on my rotation all year round. I really do appreciate and enjoy this scent because each whiff gives you that "Ahhhhh... Bisto" moment❤️😁! Update: I just got another 110ml bottle on ebay for £15. Yippy🤗! I give this an 8.0 out of 10 and it's great value for that score🤗!

I found that despite its completely different ingredients, Aramis Gentleman smells very much like Aramis Adventurer (which came later) ...they're like non-identical twin siblings (if that analogy makes scents - LOL), and I don't know which one I prefer. I also agree with the comments that this crisp/spicy/manly scent works particularly well in cool temperatures, and that there is much more going on than just ginger and black pepper (neither of which I can smell in it anyway). It also needs to be applied quite liberally to get acceptable performance even though the sillage remains discreet, because I suspect that I become anosmic to it pretty quickly. In summary, I'll repeat what I said in my review of Adventurer that: [Aramis Gentleman] continues the impressive reputation of Aramis in producing quality/interesting/edgy, well-priced fragrances for men.

Notwithstanding the reaction a scent has to each of our body-chemistries, I wouldn't have classed this as a 'fresh' fragrance. Without knowing what the declared tones, were I blinded-tested this and immediately got strong connections to leather, tobacco and warm spices; gentleman's club, basically. It's really too heavy for a younger man, but someone over 40-ish could carry it convincingly. Smells classy and 'reliable' IMHO and perhaps too much for office-use; the exception being you have your own office, in which case, go for it! The afterglow, and I mean whats still there the next day on clothing, leaves hints of coriander and earthy spice, like turmeric. Masculine, without the musk. I love it!

The original Aramis is not really to my taste anymore as I found out when I purchased it again after more than 10 years. Too dated and harsh in the opening and doesn't change in the drydown to redeem it. This however (to my nose anyway) Aramis Gentlemen is definitely evocative of the original but also quite different in it's own right. To me this is not much more than a cooler and more paletable version of the original, which is manly yet not overtly so, cool but still spicy, and quite muted instead of brash...so apropiately named Gentlemen then! Not the sort of thing I'd wear myself, nor does it really capture my imagination but a nice mature smell for a proper man.

Gentleman is underrated. I think this is a nicely put together composition. Yes it contains pepper, but the woods, especially sandalwood really steal the show. It's got an understated dry development leading into a simple but warm base. Spray liberally for best effect!

This stuff is nice! Very nice! Once the spice settles a little bit this turns into a smooth Aramis fragrance. This is better than Voyager and Black I must say. I'm going to get a second bottle of this. I give this a 9.1/10

A good masculine scent, I have probably been using this perfume for 5 years! If you ask me how a man smells, I would name exactly this perfume! Very persistent

I think I've said in the past that it is too easy to dismiss a fragrance too quickly and I think Aramis Gentleman is one such fragrance that seems to be a victim of this to a certain degree. Whether that's be cause it's presentation and it's original namesake create some expectation of magnificence before opening the box and taking the first sniff? I don't know but it is true that AG is not equal in stature to it's forbear yet I don't believe that was ever it's intended mission. Flankers are either variations on the original theme where each one holds a recognisable dna of the original release but with some interesting new twist or they can each be different fragrances that simply share similar packaging to identify them as falling within a range. AG is the latter and imo I think it is only trying to be an accomplished barber shop style scent but without the usual Lavender backbone. I always consider a fragrance based purely on what it is and what it does. In other words: Does it smell nice? - Yes. Does it perform well for what it is - Yes again. Is it an easy to wear scent? - Yes, if you like green, spicy, citrus scents. AG is a really pleasant scent for everyday use, anytime, any situation, any season too, I would say, despite the green quality to it. The first note I pick up is a fresh, herbal, green Bergamot/Lime accord which in itself doesn't make the earth move but wait a few minutes and as it settles the balanced blend of other notes step forward. The green citrus accord is present throughout and forms the backbone of the scent as opposed to the traditional Lavender. Black pepper, ginger, Tobacco leaf, Vine leaf, cedar and vetiver are also present but I must admit I struggle to pick up any oregano, saffron, myrrh or amber. Although, I couldn't think of any immediate comparisons it did later occur to me that the closest scent, to my mind anyways, that AG reminds me of is Antonio Puig's Quorum Silver. Having said that you could still own the two and appreciate them separately even though you would pick up the similarities. They both share the spicy-ginger-pepper-woods feel but Quorum Silver is warm, dry, woody spicy due to the ginger, nutmeg, pink pepper, lavender and cardamom. Back to AG and I can still smell the full spectrum of notes after 5-6 hours albeit with a fairly close projection but when I walk past members of my family at home they can still smell it in the air and give positive comments on it. I also only paid £25 for a 110ml bottle of this so all things considered it's a pretty decent bargain.

Like some of the more recent Aramis scents I own "Gentleman" is more restrained with lighter silage and longevity than you would usually expect from this house. It is a spicy well made fragrance but becomes a skin scent in a couple hours for me. The Ginger and Pepper are certainly the main source of the ingredients but there is more to this. The only real issue I have with "Gentleman" (probably due to being a more recent release) is that it is more expensive than Aramis' older fragrances which are stronger and therefore are more economical (Havana, Devin and in particular New West last really long on me). One thing I do really like about this house is that their fragrances are all really distinct from each other. In that regard I class Gentleman as a more modern take on spicy masculine colognes of yesteryear. In some ways, it's like a more spring/summer version of Havana for people who prefer their scents to be more discreet.

Very disappointed about this Aramis. I've used it the way I always use an eau de toilette yet a couple sprays in my neck, a few on my t-shirt & shoulder &a few in my t-shirt spraying it to the collar. About 10 sprays. Best way for an eau de toilette to stay & best way for myself to smell the fragrance while wearing it. At first I had a huge splash of alcohol smell. Then came same pretty nice, warm spicy smell. Smell I was able to smell for about 1 single hour & gone! Even when puting my t-shirt on my nose! Very disapointed. The bottle itself is a classic winner. Except for the 30ml which looks ridiculously small! 30ml is to stay 30ml but some 30ml bottles look huge & massive comparing this tiny gentlemen! I would have loved that spicy smell to stay. Reason why I will not recommend it & will not buy it again. Unless for a classy cheap gift.

man i like the smell but i can only smell it for about 5 seconds and it's gone.i know it is olfactory fatigue and is still there.i am on my third spray on my hand within 15 min. and my nose is shot.i smell more wood than spices really and a dry leather like scent(pepper?).i could smell this cologne on me the morning after and so could others.no sillage what so ever but a persistent radiating aroma within a foot distance.

Pretty good. Fresher than Aramis by Aramis. On the same level. Wouldn't buy it as a gift, wouldn't go out my way to get it. It's ok, nothing special. Don't expect any comments or complements about it at work or a party.

Nice warming fragrance, pepper, ginger and spices. I like to wear it to work, it always gets nice comments. Not my signature scent, but not far off, possibly the best of the Aramis fragrances.

Typical, Cedar, Pepper, Ginger and citrus profile. Very similar to, Impeccable. The citrus dies off quickly. The Cedar is the dominant accord. Borderline synthetic though, has quality and is well blended. Light and translucent. Manly/masculine. Timeless. My 2013 bottle has excellent performance!

Reviews can be deceiving. Don't buy this just because you can't find it impeccable . yes, there is a similarity with impeccable. If you bury your nose in your arm you will feel the scent. İmpeccable is right there in weak scent bubble. quality of scent, the Perfume bottle and the liquid are transparent color. When I first sprayed it, I thought they filled it with water. weak and ineffective. It disappears after 10 minutes. don't waste your money.. edit: I sprayed it 7-8 times from close range on my body . I also sprayed it on my t-shirt. After 10 minutes it was completely gone. I felt cheated. 😤

Obviously an attempt in creating something light for the 2010s market by building on the strong brand of Aramis. The scent as such has nothing to do with the classic male stuff, which seems far too heavy for our age. Unfortunately, this one doesn't work: The scent reminds me of something of the He Wood range, which is not the best start in the first place. After you had a chance to figure that out, it disappears almost completely. In the end, this one is nothing much of anything. *

I'm a big fan of Aramis original so when I read about this containing ginger and spices I had to get it. Disappointment. It smelled to me like a lemony version of the original Aramis. I hate lemon, and even if I liked it, this fragrance didn't have great longevity. You can get much better spicy fragrances elsewhere. Not a very classy gentleman in my opinion. Save yer money!

This is marginally fresher than Alfred Sung's Sung Homme, but it shares a fairly dense, cheap stickiness whose lack of transparency becomes really cloying in the long run. Gentleman vaguely reminds me of Havana, but it smells much cheaper and rather degenerate. The pepper makes a valiant effort to pull Gentleman out of the depths of mediocrity, but all in vain. Too bad...

This ginger/pepper combo smells like vetiver, which I love, but this one is boring.

The notes for this apparently are: Black pepper, Ginger, Vine leaf. Saffron, Oregano, Atlas cedar. Haitian vetiver, Tobacco leaf, Myrrh, Amber. These are from parfumo.net. My review: I really don't like this, whereas Aramis Black is more to my preferences, but what bothers me is that they list all these notes that I tend to enjoy, but what do I perceive? A nebulous fruitiness, a touch of pepper (the only note listed that I tend to dislike, though, as here, it's not a "dealbreaker"), a watery texture, and yes, lavender! It's bad enough that lavender is used so much in designer "masculines," but at least list it as a note, for goodness sake! I sprayed it on paper and the few people who smelled it liked it, so I'd guess they tested this out and it's at least a moderate "crowd pleaser," but I really wish I hadn't bought the bottle. On the other hand, it may go up in price soon, so I'll be able to get my money back on it. In some ways, it's in line with Bleu de Chanel type scents, though it goes its own way (in my limited experience with these kinds of scents). This one, though, actually nauseated me, unlike the others, which were somewhat "chemical," but wearable. No more blind buys of Aramis scents for me!

An absolutely awful fragrance from the usually excellent Aramis line. It is WAY too "green" and smells like the nauseating Lacoste Vert. - Another major disappointment. I would not recommend this to anyone who is sick to death of the "green" scents which seem to be permeating the market of late.

"THE" best ginger fragrance ever! "THE" best I smelt from Aramis ever! "THE" best scent in all weather! It caused my head to spin and hover! Man It is really 10/10 and I totally agree with Bruce65.. The notes listed here aren't the only ones included in this scent.

Hello kizz man! Once upon a time(maybe in 70's) there was a man who believed in power of future and weared Aramis Gentleman.I believe in his idea and I love Aramis Gentleman even though it reminds me Zirh. Ginger is dominant in these fragrances.

Smells to me of sweet nutmeg. It is very common, not much character really. The original one is also a ruin of what it was before, turned into a spicy fragrance whch it was not before. Back to Aramis gentleman, staying power is poor.

If you want to smell like a ginger confection, better off rubbing on some ginger oil. This stuff will give you the same result for 5x the price.

I tried this one with the view of buying it for my husband. A light, zingy fragrance geared for the younger generation. Not for him!!!!
