Havana

I always liked the house of Aramis. As a little boy Aramis was my prefered musketeer. I started to like fragrances when, at the age of 10, I received my first after shave as a gift in the form of a magnificent 200 ml splash bottle of Aramis. Due to my thick beard at the time, it lasted more than 2 years. Since then Aramis always has a reserved space in my fragrant heart. In my opinion, Havana and Tuscany compete for the "Best Aramis Fragrance" award since more than two decades ago. There is nothing wrong with the Aramis cologne, Perfume Caligraphy, 900 and JHL but my nose got enchanted with those two scents long ago. Provided I have already decided to wear an Aramis scent, how do I choose between the two of them?... well when I dress up or have an evening with friends, Tuscanny is the winner. At leisure, in the confort of my own house, I do not resist to the wonderfull tobacco, boozy, woody and leathery accords of Havana. Besides loving it, to better understand and qualify this fragrance, I need to reflect a little and not just let my imagination fly along with the fragrance. Can Havana be considered a fougère? - Yes probably, because there are greens, tarragon, herbs, mosses and caraway. But a boozy fougère ? At least something of its previous life, that began in the twentieth century, still endures in 2018. Havana is joyfully performant but it's neither heavy nor tiring. It's probably a market herency shared with the best perfumes of the 90's. There are two accords in which I do not differ from other Havana lovers. I get a wonderful dry tobacco scent and some booze as well (due to caraway?). But while most people seem to see Havana as an warm scent, to me it stays somewhat camphorously cool from start to finish, and ever so pleasant for us to enjoy it on our own. Let's see the math for Havana: - Scent opening: 9.0 - Scent drydown: 9.0 - Longevity: 9.0 (10 hours+ with 3 sprays) - Sillage: 8.0 (up to 6 feet for 2.5 hours of projection with 3 sprays) - Uniqueness: 9.5 (unique, very well blended, giving me some faint vibes of Montana Homme and not similar to anything else I am aware of) - Versatility: 8.5 (almost everywhere, but with better choices for clubbing and formal events. Perfect for leisure at home. Don't use it while working out or in the beach) - Wearability: 9.0 (high during Spring and Autumn,... quite adequate during Winter or Summer as well, but avoid extreme heat or cold). - Compliments: 8.0 (It's almost an universal pleaser but not a compliment magnet) - Quality: 9.0 (my judgement - does not suggest even a small vibe of being cheap or synthetic. It does smell expensive; with a little better performance it would deserve a 10.0) - Presentation: 8.0 (discrete but nice. Excellent cap and sprayer.) - Price: 9.5 (100 ml non tester for 20 Euros + VAT) Average: 8.77 / 10.00 - between 7 and 8 = above average; - between 8 and 9 = recomended; - bigger than 9 = don't miss it; Advice: A fragrance from the 90's but quite pleasant and up to date. It does attract a positive attention but just a few compliments . As a reward for picking this gem you will get an above average performance even with the current formulation. Do not blind buy it, as it is a bit earthy and boozy. Try it first. Noteworthy: This perfume is also an example of how Lauder cares about their customers having relaunched Havana due to numerous requests. Music; Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"

اراميس هافانا 1994 "ذاكرة المكان" ’’إذا كنت تريد أن ترحل مرة أخرى ، فحاول على الأقل ، أن تذكر كيف كنا هذا المساء.’’ " مائة عام من العزلة" ماركيز كوبا تلك الدولة البعيدة الواقعة في منطقة الكاريبي وعاصمتها هافانا وارتباطها بالعديد من الأحداث الثورية بقيادة زعيمهم المعروف فيدل كاسترو والثوري الأرجنتيني شي جيفارا. دولة مغمورة ومنسية ومنغلقة على نفسها في أغلب الأحيان.ربما بسبب الأمبريالية الأمريكية.(امبرررية توسعية على قول عادل امام) "الزعيم". نسمع كثيرا عن فخامة السيجار الكوبي ومدى ارتباطه بالثراء وكونه الأغلى عالميا ، ويصنع يدويا ، تشتهر به كوبا ويعتبر من الموروثات الثقافية والإقتصادية لهذه الدولة النائية.وعنصر هام لجذب السياحة. عطر اراميس هافانا المعروف هو ايضا من العطور المنسية ليس باصدارته الحاليا ( جنتل مان كوليكشن) ولكن بعبوته الاسطوانية القديمة صنع سويسرا، فلم اجد الكثير عن المعلومات عن هذا العطر وقد اكتفى البعض بتشبيهه بالنسخة الحالية ولكن هيهات ، فالمقارنة غير عادلة وغير منصفة لجمال وحبكة النسخة القديمة.فهو اكثر كثافة ورونقا من النسخة الحالية التي اعتبرها جيدة ايضا . عطر هافانا ذو طابع كلاسيكي شيبري يذكرنا بعطور الثمانينات ، فيه سحر وخيال منقطع النظير قلما نجدا لها نظير من العطور الحالية فالعطر جميع العديد من التناقضات والمجموعات العطرية في قالب واحد ، فهو تارة عطر رجولي حاد فخم وتارة اخرى عطر ناعم فواح رومانسي ومرة اخرى عميق ويذهب بك الى اماكن بعيدة بين مزارع التبغ الكوبية وهنا ظهرت فلسفة مؤلف العطر (غير معروف ايضا). نبدأ الان مع صافرة البداية فمقدمة العطر صاخبة اسبايسية مع لمسة حادة من السترس المدخن واللافندر واليانسون تظهر في الافق أوراق التبغ والجلود بصورة ملحوظة.التبغ هنا تبغ السيقار الكوبي بالطبع ، المقدمة ثقيلة بعض الشيء ولكنها تنبئ بالوحش المختبيء بداخلها. قلب العطر تغرد فيه نوتة التبغ وحيدة ولكنها ممزوجة بلمسة رائعة من الريحان وزهرة القرنفل ، ستستمر طويلا ربما الي اكثر من 8 ساعات ، قاعدة العطر : وما احلاها من قاعدة ، بأمكاني تأليف كتاب حول قاعدة هذا العطر فهي بحق شيء لايوصف ، رحلة في زمن مضى حفل بالعديد من الذكريات ، مشرقة كاشراقة شمس الصباح البهيجة ، ما اروعها ما هذا الفن والابداع والمهارة ، وهنا اتحدث بعد ان يهدا العطر 10 ساعات من المقدمة وليس بعد ساعتين او ساعة ونصف كالعطور الإستهلاكية الحديثة، انه بمثابة عطر اخر حيث تظهر مجموعة اكوردات من النوتات الكثيفة والمنعشة في نفس الوقت حيث التبغ والجلود والباتشولي وجذور السوسن والراتنجات وشراب الرم ومزيج من الكومارين والالدهيدات النادرة التكوين ونوتة الاوك موس الكلاسيكية الدافئة واجمل ماشممت لنوتة الصندل الهندي فقد اضافت ليونة ومرونة " ياللروعة". الرائحة تتنوع هنا فهي ارضية تارة وحلوة عذبة سويتية عشبية تارة اخرى لوجو هذا المزيج المتجانس.عطر متعدد الأوجه والمكونات فهو احتفالية مبهجة على شواطئ الكاريبي. عطر ليس للأستهلاك العالمي نعم فهذه الاشياء لم يعد يصنعونها واصبحت ذكرى منسية ، بل هو لفلاسفة العطور الذين يغوصون في معنى ومضمون علم الشم ، باالتأكيد من افضل عطور التبغ على الإطلاق . I received my new flacon of HAVANA this afternoon, after literally not having smelled that fragrance in 25 years. It had once been one of my "rotation" frags when I was in my thirties. That had been a palmy, adventuresome, libidinous time in my life, and HAVANA had often been its olfactory soundtrack. In those days, I knew nothing of olfactive families, and it's only now that I see: HAVANA is a fougère. A spicy fougère, but a fougère nonetheless. I'm pretty sure the formula I owned back then, in its iconic ultramarine-blue glass conga drum, had been in Eau de Parfum strength. This new EDT re-issue I received today still smells hella good... but it is lighter, less contrasty, less rewardingly unctuous than the jus I slathered on back then. The warm, peppery tobacco quality is here now in a very subtle, ultra-refined capacity... not as robust and 3-dimensional and "brûlant" as it used to be (some here have intimated that HAVANA had always been a "fun" fragrance... as in: somewhat festive and a little charmingly vulgar: you picture a Dad in an open-buttoned Hawaiian or Guayabera shirt flipping burgers for the family in the backyard on a summery Saturday afternoon. Is that a diss? It doesn't have to be.). I've always loved the Art Deco feather/frond imagery on the emballage, suggestive of handpainted men's Italian silk neckties of the 1940's. But this new re-issue EDT is still gorgeous and stylish and handsome. I like it best when the opening "fougère/lavender" brilliance has subsided, and you can meditate on that deliciously suave tobacco/spice signature. The cigar imagery is the reference here, and the fragrance has a dusky, papery quality in far drydown that I adore. As always, HAVANA is not a frat-boy's number... it seems to suggest a kind of "I've made it in life" augustness best suited for the over 30-man. Maybe even the over-35 or over-40 man. And that's OK-- not everything is for the kiddos. Full marks, and bravo to Aramis/Arden for bringing this lovely stuff back-- and crazy-affordably. Astrologically? I picture the Fire signs wearing this.

VINTAGE REVIEW: Never having tried the reformulation, this review is for a bottle of the stuff I bought in the late 1990s, in the awesome blue-green bottle with the heavy cap. I've used it sparingly all this time, but am renewing my appreciation for it. The vintage is, indeed, a tobacco bomb. This stuff is POTENT. Normally, when I put on something from mainstream houses like Aramis, I'll use four or five sprays (or more, for the weaker fragrances) in recognition of the lessened potency of modern formulations. I made this mistake with vintage Havana, with the result that my lady was able to smell it easily from down a flight of stairs, through a closed door, and down the hallway to my study. I had forgotten that two sprays had always been enough (which is why my bottle still contains a decent amount after all these years). The tobacco is smooth and delicious, borderline harsh but absolutely amazing. There's no sweetness to it, like you would get from something like Chergui or Insurrection II Wild. The patchouli is definitely there, but not so in-your-face that it detracts from the overall experience. The oakmoss is also quite potent, and to my nose the Christmas tree fir note is much more noticeable than any cinnamon. It's an awesome combo. The scent doesn't really evolve for me and I don't remember it being terribly dynamic when I first picked it up, but I'm perfectly satisfied with what you get from the opening. I'm still getting about six hours out of this despite its age. Definitely my favorite tobacco scent. I'm beginning to sample higher-end frags and am looking forward to finding tobacco like this again, but for now I'm wearing this gem much more frequently as it ages... I know I'll be mightily disappointed when my bottle finally runs dry... EDIT: After wearing it for a few hours and actively seeking it, I do detect the cinnamon note. Could be that it only emerges after the other middle notes; it's definitely subtle to me, not nearly as noticeable as in Z-14 or Witness, for example.

I get the impression that, as others too have attested, a number of these Aramis Gentleman's Collection fragrances, at least in their recent formulations, do well with age. That has been my experience with Devin. I bought Havana a few years ago, but I haven't used it that much, as I've always found it to be not a statement fragrance or an assuming one exactly but, let's say, a credible one, with its own character, and deserving of an appropriate context in which to wear it, which in my case doesn't come along very often. That said, when I first bought Havana, I didn't find it entirely convincing or appealing. To me it smelt like a fragrance that had a lot going for it but had probably been much impaired by reformulation. Not least, I found it mossy (and soapy), and I liked that, but to me the moss smelt a little thin or shallow (and clean), almost as if lying there forming one conspicuous layer of the fragrance without fully engaging with the rest of it. Well, I've worn this tonight for the first time in probably a year and to me it seems better integrated than it used to. The performance, though perfectly adequate, is still unexceptional, but the scent seems like more of a cohesive, classy, old-skool barbershop experience that has Aramis written all over it. Actually I've just worn this to the supermarket and there was a guy there wearing quite a lot of something very similar to this and at least very closely related to Aramis, so that I wasn't always sure whether I was catching his scent or mine; at no point was the experience anything other than great. For me this is primarily a cool- (not cold-) weather fragrance suitable day or night but, though not austere or abrasive, perhaps a little complex (and exuberant?) for many casual daytime contexts. I'm more inclined now than I used to be to consider this a good choice for a warmish summer night; it's soapy but also kind of fresh, not stuffy, and won't have everything smelling at all as if it's been left out in the rain too long.

I'm relatively new to collecting and appreciating fragrances so I'm currently learning a lot. Havana has taught me that if a fragrance remains the same over time then our interpretation of it does not have to. I discovered Havana in the mid 90s on a scented advertising scratch card in Loaded magazine (give me a break. I was still in my twenties) I purchased it as only my second self buy fragrance, the first being Farenheit a couple of years before. Havana felt sparkly and young. Energetic. Sweet, fizzy but done with a quality and richness. I associate listening to Oasis, The Stone Roses, Cast, The Verve and all those vibrant and vital Northern bands with this. It was a period of great excitement for me. Havana was very much a part of it. I wore it for clubbing and seeing bands. Then once I used it up I never replaced it. I didn't smell it on others either. I grew up. Fast forward over two decades and I hadn't even thought of it. I started collecting fragrances around eighteen months ago and spotted the name on here. A flood of memories returned. Out of curiosity and some nostalgia I bought a bottle. The smell was the same. Memory can play tricks but I detect no deterioration during the intervening years despite the understanding that a reformulation has occurred. What I find now is that what suited me then as a young buck now suits me as a man approaching his half century but for different reasons. Now I sense maturity from it. I get that Aramis quality still but it doesn't strike me a juvenile as it once did although it smells the same. It's matured with me and I'm happy to wear it again. I can get away with wearing it again without the shackles of nostalgia.

Hi This is my first review. My nose is not as polished(?) as some of the other collectors/enthusiasts here. Thus, I would like you to take in my review as the words of a no-vice. Review of the Aramis Havana: I smell a wonderful, kind of old-school, perfume here. Something similar would be the white old spice bottled aftershave my grandpa used to apply. But that is a bit more refined even in the swelting humid summers of South India. This is more pungent (in an awesome way) and I definitely smell tobacco (Big fan of Guerlain vetiver and the infamous D&G Intenso, might invite some flak here). I smell vetiver in the background for sure and patchouli too. Not really cinnamon, but honestly, I haven't smelt cinnamon in a perfume before. Thus, I would get a context with my next perfume with cinnamon in it. There is also this algal kind of smell (the wet shaded portion of walls a couple of days after a rain- say Remy Latour Cigar) which is wonderfully crafted. Usage: Definitely for summers, possibly all weather. Green, aromatic herbs, mildly aquatic even, but with a pronounced tobacco note. Not the kind of 'The-vetiver-is-gone,-now-deal-with-me-tobacco' as in Guerlain Vetiver (which I like too), but a little more rounded and in harmony with the green notes and the algal/musky notes. Personality: Moustache, stout, open-buttoned shirt, gold/dual-tone jewellery, Brown square/rectangle sunglasses, brown leather loafer. PS: Please forgive my formatting skills. Havana Aramis has got to be one of the best colognes I have ever smelled. It's as close to perfect as anything I have ever encountered. It seems to smell like the 90's, the 70's, or really any decade you choose to project onto it. It is both dated and timeless. All you can really tell is that it's a romantic fragrance from yesteryear without really being able to pin a date onto it. For those of you who love to idolize stars like James Dean, Sean Connory or Elvis; Havana could be any of these people. I'm willing to bet many women could wear it as well. It's not so much sexless as it is bi-sexually sensual, if that makes sense. People of either gender could wear it, so long as they have a romantic sensibility. This is not a fragrance for sensible square people. Their cynicism will shut it down as just "too much" for them. Likewise, its shape seems to constantly change. People below have reviewed it as being a chameleon, smelling a bit different every time you put it on. All you can really pin on it is that it's a sweet, spicy smell that sometimes smells like a fresh humidor and sometimes not. It is so thoroughly likeable, that it's a sure thing for people who are into old school frags. If all you like is current and trendy, this isn't for you. If you're always worried about what people think of you, steer clear. If you're going to be yourself no matter what, then you will love Havana Aramis. It really is that simple.

Whoa - smell it on paper; it's Montana through and through...wait a couple hours though and you get a dry tobacco aroma. I agree it's not burnt tobacco, but it's not fresh either (ala Burberry London for example). It's dry tobacco, like a cigar shop - very Havana. Of the paper, I wasn't sold for the prices I was seeing it at between 2016-2018 (new bottle). Saw this for about 30 CAD, read the reviews on here and bn and I thought I had to try (currently enjoying Burberry London, CK Shock, Varvatos Vintage and Dark Rebel) it on my skin. I loved it. On skin, there's little Montana (which I also like); it's in the same vein, and reminds you of the Drakkar Noir, Quorum vibes of yesteryear for sure. But Aramis and Tuscany and now Havana just give me such a beautiful blend on my skin. For me, it's basil orange in the opening (similar to Montana and Quorum) and that stays around for the most part (where something like TdH takes on a damp dark smelling wood); Havanda brings in a sandalwood tobacco blend that sits at the base (I'm 2 hrs in) and it's very very very nice. This is a creamy tobacco drydown, with the spicy (basil, caraway), sharp (patchouli artemisia - maybe?) undertones that make it a great year-round tobacco scent (the others mentioned above I reserve for fall and winter). I'm wearing it today and it's June and 20 degrees. I love it! The transition between stages is awesome.

Just had a big "scent memory" moment with Havana that I would like to share : ). I've been using Havana for a couple of weeks now and it has had a familiarity that I just couldn't pinpoint until now. Have you noticed all of the posts on this scent referring to a soapy dry down smell . . . ever used Dial Gold soap? If you have and still have a bar, spray a wrist with Havana and give it a few minutes to dry down and then sniff it and then the gold Dial. Pretty close, huh?! Loved Dial Gold while growing up and in my opinion, there is no cleaner, longer lasting "old school" smelling soap and Aramis Havana shares the same scent profile, but even smells twice as good as the soap because it must use higher quality ingredients. Now I can spray on a higher quality version onto my skin anytime and get that same spicy soap freshness! I think it's notes of cinnamon, patchouli, orange, oakmoss, and vetiver that are most responsible for the smell. I am definitely going to get a lot of use from Havana and what a bargain it is! UPDATE: It's clean, spicy dry down is wonderful and it lasts about eight hours on my skin. Not only is it a timeless classic, but is an incredible value at $20 USD a bottle and versatile enough to use in any season!

I have this fragrance in vintage form and I really really like it. I also have Montana Parfum d'homme of which this is similar to. Montana seems more dry and with a pronounced leather note in the backdrop which I love. I also have that in vintage formulation but I seem to get better performance with Havana. Havana seems deeper, richer and I enjoy this a little bit more. It makes me feel reassured, safe if you like. Mainly because it puts me vaguely in mind of something my Grandad wore when I was little. I've had this memory ever since I was a boy, my Grandad was holding me in his arms, waving off my Gran, Auntie, Mum and older brother as they were going away to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, I was too young so stayed with him and I always remember the smell of his aftershave. To me this doesn't make it dated or old fashioned but more classic/timeless and of good quality. In part, memories like I've mentioned are part of the reason I entered into the world of fragrances, collecting and enjoying various fragrances from different scent groups and houses. If the positive reviews are anything to go by then current formulation are not to be passed by, I'll need to make a purchase to keep topped up.

Havana was my cologne of choice for being the best man at my best friends wedding last winter and always reminds me of that weekend when I smell it. I noticed when doing the usual best man duties (talking to guests, the bride and groom's family, escorting the bride's' mother, dancing with bridesmaids etc) that they would be leaning in closer than usual, smiling, with eyes that read "you're a good guy, it's great that you're here". It's a "man's man"scent, the ladies like the ruggedness of it and perfect for smoking a cigar with the father of the bride. I was also being dragged around and introduced to everyone, (believe me when I say that Irish women love weddings and get even more bossy than usual) so had to turn on the charm, it's a great scent as it can be used more casually but perfect for events wearing a suit on a winter night. As others have stated, the tobacco note is very well done here, no-fi's review hits the nail on the head, the name of this fragrance is spot on, it's a smokey classy scent. Will always be a favourite of mine.

An unsung hero among tobacco fragrances. Havana is a departure from the modern interpretations of tobacco fragrances, which tend to emphasize the sweet and cherry-like nuances. This one is an homage to the dry, woody, and the naturally mild sweet accords associated with tobacco. It unquestionably has some traits of old-fashioned and masculine fragrances, though it somehow also captures the atmosphere and image of a tobacconist, which you can't really put a date on. Notes of unsweetened honey and cinnamon complement spicy tobacco and soapy greens to reveal a gentlemanly, yet slightly boorish scent at the same time. However, it's harsheness subsides in an hour, more or less, and what's left is an assertive scent that makes its presence known, but doesn't come across as pungent and rude. The price really doesn't do it any justice, but in a way, it's a great fragrance to test the waters of tobacco-based scents or even Aramis as a brand. Havana is just such a pleasurable fragrance to wear.

The false scare that Estée Lauder was shutting the Aramis works down in toto prompted me to score some classic Aramis and Devin. Havana by Aramis crossed my radar screen along the way, and as a Lauder devotee in general and an Aramis aficionado, I HAD to give Havana a try. I love it! Havana is complex and tells an interesting story as it passes from sweet, citrusy top notes through spicier heart notes and dries down into the masculine, exotic blend of tobacco, patchouli, various woods, and tonka bean. Every step of the journey is worthwhile and evokes the spirit of old Havana - awaking in a classic hotel, breakfast and robust coffee on the balcony or in the courtyard, a stroll through the streets and along the waterfront, drinks later in an airy bar, and finally a wonderful cigar at sunset. Hemingway would be proud. Aramis assures me classic Aramis, Devin, and Havana aren't going anywhere, and I certainly hope that's true. Havana by Aramis is a winning formula.

I've got an 80s vintage and a sample from the Gentleman's Collection re-release and the difference is negligible. Havana is a constantly fluctuating experience for me, so at times doing a side by side comparison I would have said the current was ever so slightly sweeter, but then they'd both evolve and the vintage would be the slightly sweeter one. But if the overall trend is for the newer bottles to have a little more of that citrus sweetness, or to have it persist for longer, it's probably just due to slight degradation of the top notes in the vintage bottle over the decades. The mid and base notes, and the overall effect of wearing it, are the same, and equally enjoyable - no need to track down the vintage to experience the "real" thing. Don't overspray this one btw - it's beautiful with just one or two sprays and lasts all day, but more than a couple sprays and it becomes a bit cloying and would probably not be office- or enclosed space-safe at that point.

I blind bought this not knowing what I was getting myself into, not smart I know, but what a great surprise! When I was a young kid I always noticed my father wore different scents for different ocassions but I never bothered to ask what any of them were at the time. This was my father's cologne throughout the mid 1990's for going to a restaurant or a movie with us in the evening. What an amazing time traveling experience. This reminds me of "casual fit" navy blazers and khaki's with a braided leather belt, and really wide striped ties. Not in a bad way though! This is a really "good" part of the 1990's despite some of the decade's other misses. Basil, caraway and artemisia dance to a delightful balance to slowly but surely reveal tobacco and sandalwood. Great performance and intense initial sillage. Performance fades substantially at the 3-4 hour mark but not completely. Continues to give very pleasant impressions even at the 8 hour mark.

Brought a bottle for my father 3 or so years back. He's away on vacation and asked me to check something in his room and I found this along with New West and Tuscano. I've been wearing it the last 4 days and holy this is nice stuff. I'm 33 and owned hundreds of perfumes and I'm always prive to a good tobacco perfume. This isn't as gold as Tobacco Reserve but the bubble it creates is beautiful. So I went online to buy a bottle for myself as the current bottle only has 20% left and I find out it's discontinued!! Damn I'd love a bottle of this juice! This is my second favorite after Tobacco Reserve of which I owned two and used both, can't find that anymore too! This is a grown up mature perfume as the person a few reviews down said it doesn't smell like an old lady perfume but you've smelt it on an old lady. Regardless I'm gutted I can't get another bottle. For me as a mature Tobacco perfume it's 9/10 only losing a point for versatility.

You walk into a cigar shop in Cuba. A simple one. The kind of shop where cigar craftsmanship has been preserved in its purest form. On a wooden block in front of you a master cigar maker is rolling big leaves of top quality tobacco. The aroma filling up the entire room is mysteriously attractive and unforgettable. If only you could distil that moment in time and the sensation it brings....and put it a bottle to take away with you....and call it Havana....wait, what?!?!? Havana by Aramis ushers in a new perspective on the note of tobacco by moving away from dry,cut,"smoking" tobacco towards green, leafy, "cigar" tobacco. The opening is an oxymoron- dirty freshness. Havana is "masculine" in a really rugged, yet pleasant way. Yes, perhaps it is more suitable for a more mature man, but if you love tobacco and you want to experience the note in its unrefined, pure form, Havana shall grant your wish.

Ooooo this is good stuff. Blind buy based on the reviews here. Opening is generic, similar many 1990s men's fragrances like to Hugo by Hugo Boss, Escape etc. then it very quickly settles into a soapier, 80s masculine and floral zone carrying a slight Kouros note (lavender/artemisia vibe). Once that's wound down onto your skin all of that goes away in comes the stronger boozy woody and tobacco tones that are warmer and richer. There's something still soapy in this that keeps it clean and not cloying. I don't think this is super masculine because its boozy/tobacco note softens it and brings you into similar styles from the mid to late 2000s (Varvatos-esque). It's still manly, unique and super sexy. Longevity from two sprays was disappointing so I think this bottle will disappear quickly - but it ain't expensive so that's fine.

I have the aftershave version of this one and I really love it. Not sure about similarities with EDT though. Its a fresh cologne with a lot of citrus at the beginning, mixed with vegetal green notes from basil, pine, and moss. Tobacco is there in the background and keeps things tied together. I really like the carnation in this one, which brings in masculine and mature vibes to this concoction. The cologne is on the other spectrum of tobacco themed perfumes. I have gourmand tobacco perfumes such as Herod and Volutes, but this one is a tobacco fougere vs tobacco gourmand in the above mentioned ones. Cant compare to Chergui because they're completely different. Compared to Fieulles to Tabac, the cologne is very fresh and more of tobacco leaves than tobacco pipe. Should be in any collection for tobacco perfume lovers.

Aramis for men was one of my first fragrances I was about 15 at the time,38 year's ago. Today it is 2015 and I just received my bottle of Havana and I have to say it is great, a classic that can be worn in dress or casual situations. Havana is old school much like Quroum,Grey Flannel etc. Havana is not as smokey as Encre Noir and I like that it isn't,what it is for sure is a beautifully spicey with a hint of musky smoke somewhere in the mix fragrance.I love that you can visit the past with just enough minor changes that everyone will love it. Encre Noir,if you want smoke and Havana more practical for most. I think the beauty is if you shop the internet intelligently you can have both fragrances for around 75$ US,not bad for nearly niche quality.PS better than some niche brands.L Bullard

This is one of the most complex fragrances I've owned so far. Very hard to review and could result in different journeys on different skins. You can easily tell it's very well blended, and it's many things at the same time. I mostly pick the cinnamon throughout the notes, but the opening is definetely both cinnamon and oakmoss levander so it's warm and fresh at the same time. Really never smelled such combination, and I loved it. I can also pick the fresh mandarin orange, along with tobacco and fir. Probably getting other notes somewhere in between but it's very complex to me. The drydown is also complex. I was expecting a nice sandalwood with cinnamon leftovers but there's more in that. Something a bit fougereish and warm, you can really tell this is a powerhouse "man" fragrance.

I'm in my 30s and wear this on occaision, mainly in the colder months and I do enjoy the smell of this. To my surprise, I get compliments on this from a lot of older women. It's pretty versatile and can be worn to the office (I wouldn't say this is an office friendly scent, but I do it anyways). Havana certainly has a dry tobacco note that is sweetened slightly by cinnamon and some light citrus. It reminds me slightly of Jacomo de Jacomo in a way but is maybe more subdued overall. The tobacco note is not one of burnt tobacco or sweet tobacco, but more one of fresh tobacco leaves which are in various stages of drying. Imagine being in a hut, with green and brown tobacco leaves hanging from the ceiling. That's what you get here.

I really wish this was still $20 so I could justify buying a backup bottle. This is a great classic fragrance from Aramis, who have many great classic fragrances. It's floral, citrusy, and tobacco, and the tobacco is a more earthy, manly tobacco type of scent that your grandpa would smoke in his pipe. Dries down to that signature Aramis woody, leathery vetiver scent. This holds up, you can wear this in 2024, but you have to have confidence to wear something like this, and you have to dress nice, or else it just doesn't fit. Business casual, or maybe with a leather jacket or sport coat. Very much a year round scent. 9.1/10, bring it back Aramis!

There is little to NO difference between this and Aramis Havana Reserve, with the exception that this one is much lower in price and highly available. I'm not getting much tobacco here; more about the mix of the other ingredients. When I first sprayed Havana, like my Havana Reserve, I thought, "This reminds me of something else in my collection..." It's Krizia Uomo. I believe they both share some substantial similar notes. I like Aramis Tobacco Reserve and Herod by Parfums de Marley better. UPDATE: Gave it a week's rest and used it this morning. I really like this fragrance! It's very much underrated; great scent and super low price.

A great fragrance... as stated before, the opening is a bit OTT, but that soon goes. The performance isn't as good as I was expecting. It projects within arms length and people will smell it for the first hour or two.. but it then soon becomes a skin scent albeit a gorgeous one.. and then goes completely after around 5-6 hours. This really isn't the taboo fragrance that everyones making it out to be.. yes it smells fairly vintage but nothing like some of the other Aramis' scents.. you won't be a social leper by wearing this.. in fact I've had two compliments in two days with this. For the price it's definitely worth giving it a shot!

Cheap, overlooked gem. Smells slightly different every time I wear it, I don't know why. On some days it's a green, fresh piney barbershop scent. Sometimes it's a loud and brash tobacco and spice bomb. On other days it goes right to its earthy, dirty ashtray-like oakmoss drydown. This one leans a bit mature, but it doesn't mean it's outdated. I would say this is too gentlemanly to be casual, but too rowdy to be refined. This is something to wear at a smoke-filled pub on a hot summer night, with its spicy-coolness cutting through the sweat, humidity and smoke. Edit: Just to be clear, I own the modern bottle, not the vintage one.

This is a multifaceted wonder. Constantly shifting from soap, cinnamon, carnation, mandarin, tobacco, pine and sandalwood to a subtly fecal sun-warmed hay. It's also one of the few fragrances I've had a comment or two on. Trenchantly old school to my nose, this would typically be considered masculine by most (if that helps...) Longevity on my skin is really good, and sillage is moderate/strong The value for quality here is off the scale - but only if you enjoy old timey style "male" scents. Worth noting that there's just a moment of harshness on application, but this soon passes and reveals the complex beauty described above.

The opening of this one has a bit of the flowery Aramis Devin vibe because of the carnation. Then quickly turns into a deep, soothing, fresh-green fragrance. The cinnamon is also there and gives this fragrance an old-school pinch. In the dry-down Havana gets more bitter. Very good longevity with moderate projection. Overall to me this one smells exacly like the semi-fresh tobacco leaves, that are hung up to dry, when they turn greenish-brown after few days. I love it! Havana has some similarites with Montana, but the late one is not so fresh and green, has much of pepper and appears to me smoother.

Since its discontinuation, the prices have gone up immensely in the past couple of years for Havana. It will likely become one of those scents that will be hard to find and labeled as a "masterpiece". While I respectfully disagree, amongst the usual suspects in this genre, (and there are plenty) it is at least comforting and wearable. To me it's got a bit of old spice, polo green, and equipage, and could easily still fit in today's classic catalog. I love the combination of tobacco, moss, and basil which gives the composition an ashy, smoky, texture - overall virile and masculine to the core.

ilsagold, I bought a new bottle of Aramis Havana about 3 years ago and it instantly became one of my favorites -- and still is 70 bottles later! I don't notice the carnation note, but it's hard for me to pick notes out of this one because it's very well blended. The current version surely isn't as strong or long-lasting as the original -- which must have been a masterpiece -- but who cares how long it lasts when it's only $20 for 100ml ? You can always re-spray if desired. And if you don't mind paying $100 or so for the vintage blue bottle, there's usually a few floating around on eBay.

When I spray Havana, I think of the sun...herbs, spices, and tobacco that have all been drenched in the sun. Havana is complex but it still manages to be clean and fresh to me. I remember trying this years ago and not liking it. I don't know if it's my taste or the fragrance itself that has changed (or maybe a combination of both), but I love it now. This is my favorite scent in the Aramis Collection. Havana seems infused with sunlight to me. It's perfect to wear in the daytime, but it still has enough depth and mystery to wear at nighttime too. Love this stuff.

Rich and stylish, a quintessential gentleman's perfume. My favourite among Aramis fragrances and, quite possible, Of Them All. Longevity is fantastic - it lasts for a few days on my skin (where very few perfumes last longer than few hours). Sillage is great, as in "1.5 sprays would be just right, and 2 sprays are a tiny bit too much". It could be my signature fragrance, if only it wouldn't be considered 'so dated' by surrounding people. (this comment is about current formulation (Gentleman's Collection) which doesn't have any huge differences from the original)

It's a powerful, manly, sophisticated thing. Not sweet, not harsh. Energetic. Wood, tobacco, some forest, some orange peel and a bunch a scents around that that rounds it off. Doesn't seem to develop much over time, but the scent is always interesting to me. Pretty powerful projection on me the first hour or two. Then medium projection for a couple of extra hours and then turns into a skin scent. Turned into my signature. I see it working in the office and off work, pretty much all year. Reminds me a bit of Tuscany from Aramis as well.

A macho man's fragrance. If you love the classic fragrances of the 90s this one is a banger! Its tobacco note is prominent throughout its lifespan but the oakmoss, vetiver and especially the patchouli accords are prominent and create a beautiful lingering scent bubble around you which would accompany you at least 6/7 hours (longevity) after the initial spray and would project massively (4/5 ft at least). It's a bang for the buck but mind you, it's a bold fragrance not for the faintest of hearts! Highly recommended!

Thankfully Havana still remains a lovely back n' forth of dry and cool, of spicy and warm, of old world gallantry and new world balance that undoubtedly gets the heels kickin' and captures the sultry charm of Caribbean-Latin sensuality and gentlemanly demeanor in a bottle. Basically, a seasoned green tobacco inflection dipped in bay rum, herbs, caraway and dry woods that steers in the burley wheelhouse of Roger & Gallet Open, Jacomo de Jacomo, Montana parfum and D.R. Harris Sandalwood... Ahh, grace indeed!

This is fantastic and while yes it is a "masculine" fragrance in some obvious ways, I think the tobacco and oakmoss mellow this out into something more interesting and "unisex". It's complex, evolves in a very interesting way, from a conventional aromatic fresh smelling fragrance to something more faceted and multi-dimensional. It's slightly soapy, even boozy, reminds me of cigars, a little woody, even a little dirty. I think it's beautiful, and I plan on wearing it myself. 8.5/10

This is great. From the first spray, it has this citrus blast akin to maybe something like Eau Sauvage which is OK. However, the dry-down is where it shines. It comes across as this woody-tobacco combo. People say it smells like a cigar, I do get slightly where they're coming from. Does it smell like Aramis? No, not really. In the same vein as this is fairly masculine, like Devin (also part of the gentlemen collection). Just to note, I have the blue cone vintage bottle.

I'm a 43 Scorpio woman and I freakin' love this myself!! Am wearing it now 😎 Feeling very exotic lol On the very first ever spray, the first thoughts that came to me was 'tobacco' and 'banana palm leaf' I think this would be a bit too strong for the steamy summer months here in Australia, certainly more of a cooler month one, in my opinion, however there is something oddly 'monsoonal' about this scent, and,as such, it would be perfect to wear in a summer storm

One Million isn't that bad, but most frags are kittens soaked in milk next to this. Don't believe me? Take your leather wallet, fill it with unlit cigs and some Christmas cinnamon, TIE IT TO YOUR FIST, STEAL A CAR AND USE IT TO PICK UP A HAND GUN. Now you have it. Best $18 I've ever spent. This smells like, and I am not joking, my dad's body odor after he has bathed himself with old classic soaps and worn his already used shirt quenched with the smell of tobacco in his pockets. Nothing leathery, animalic, heavy about this smell, on the contrary this feels airy. This is the oakmossy soapy aromatic fougere recipe paired with the smell of tobacco leaves. I can see myself smelling this and crying in 10 years if my father is gone before me.

I love this one...warm spicy opening with strong basil, delicious drydown of sweet tobacco leather with lingering cinnamon and soft sandalwood....Heavana. Very good longevity and sillage. It is a mature scent with the feel of 60"s Cuba...casinos, cigars, mafia, whiskey. Very high, near niche quality. Definitely a summer scent, but versatile enough to be work year-round. My favorite of the Aramis line. Amazing value at <$30 for 100mL.

Definitely among my top 5 favorite fragrances! First wore it in London in 1995, then it vanished but Aramis were very brave to bring it back in its full glory. The new version is as good as the old one, with fantastic, outstanding performance!!!! Spicy and tobacco nuances complete a manly vibe that screams sophistication and style. This fragrance has what so many are missing: PERSONALITY! Perfect value for money! Viva Havana!

I don ́t know why, but a first Havana was disappointing to me - BUT - slowly it began to grew on me, giving me that summerly I-wanna-have-a-drink-a-and-cigar-and-chill. Just finished one bottle and just ordered a new one. The keywords for Havana Aramis is: summer, mysterious, fresh, sexy, light, and freakin ́ awesome! *UPDATE* Havana has grown so much on me, that no matter what I ́m buying I always return to Havana - uhmmm!

Fresh green tobacco leaves that were just hung to dry and cure in air perfumed by flowering tobacco blossoms in the heat of a humid midsummer's night. The result is an herbal, warm, dewy, spicy tobacco made for warm evenings spent sipping on mojitos lounging below strings of lights in white linen. If a summer version of Égoïste were made, it would smell like Havana. Definitely a successful blind buy to say the least.

I get alcohol straight off the top. Two minutes in, I get mandarin, spices, and bay leaf among other things. I've been searching a very long time for a fragrance that brought to mind bay rum with long lasting performance. This is a more mature, decadent, sultry, slightly sweet, manly bay rum vibe scent that lasts. I adore this fragrance, and it will most likely become my signature. The tobacco is to die for.

@ilsagold The current cheap formula is very enjoyable, but the vintage is stronger and better in my opinion. However the vintage is much more expensive and it's not night-and-day better, more like 20% better and longer lasting. I wouldn't necessarily recommend blind-buying any vintage bottle due to the price and risk, but you might want to sample the vintage or just blind-buy the cheapie. It's only $20!

Aramis Havana is an awesome fragrance. It smells wonderful and lasts a very long time, up to 8hrs+. The projection is very good too and the price you can buy it today makes the scent a steal. It makes sense to buy this one because there is no losers and everybody wins. You and those who notice it on you because there isn't anything with this fragrance not to like. For me an 8.5 out of 10 anyday!!?

One of the most beautiful perfumes from tobacco based. Its misfortune is that it was launched too late on the market in 1994 when it began the era of fresh,generic, unisex perfumes! For the classic air it gives the wearer,i recommend it to more formal or at least smart casual outfits. Always when I wear it it makes me feel strong.A perfume for real men, not for little boys!!!

Warm, a little rough, dusty, woody, green, yellowish type of scent. I totally get the tobacco from it and oh boy I love it ! the tobacco in here isn't much smoky tho. Very masculine but definitely a scent for the older gentlemen (40+). that being said I myself a 22 year old love this. Feels refined and elegant, but definitely outdated ! (or you can say it's classic).
