Ghality

I have been wondering when this would appear on Fragrantica! I got this a few months ago and it is literally one of my favorite perfumes! I was looking for something similar to the Gucci floral perfumes and this came up in searches. I looked at one review and saw the price was low and decided to risk it. The notes listed above a bit strange cause I smell a fresh watered garden. This is a garden of flowers but in the most uplifiting and not old fashioned type of way. It impresses me with it's longevity too. I smell Jasmine and honeysuckle and blooming garden flowers. I don't smell much of the other things listed like vanilla or sandalwood but I will give another sniff now that the notes are listed. This is one of my most successful blind buys and I am really shocked this hasn't blown up! This bottle is similar to some in the Gucci Alchemist Garden, but I haven't smelled all of them. I am planning to go sniff them the next time I am in NYC to see if this was inspired by a specific one. I don't really care if it is though, cause Ghality is my favorite floral perfume right now!! --Post Edit: a few months have passed and I still love this sooooo much. It doesn't have the best longevity, but even expensive scents like this just do not last very long on me, and imo this performs respectably. I have been smelling many perfumes lately like it's my JOB and I still love this little sleeper so much. I got a back up bottle.

Ghality opens with bright citrus and fruit (bergamot, mandarin, mango), moving very quickly from fruity into a soft floral heart (jasmine, lavender, orange blossom) and settles into a warm woody‐vanilla base (sandalwood, patchouli, musk, vanilla). It behaves more like a classic warm, sweet, amber-wood oriental with floral accents, rather than being a true Oriental Floral experience, being fresh and light. The florals in this are supporting actors, not the star. The official pyramid does not mention cedar, but there are elements in Ghality's structure that create a dry, papery, woody, slightly dusty effect that gives pencil shaving notes throughout. In any case, the contrasts found in Ghality have bewitched me. A love for me.

Edit: Ok, I found the mango note today! Lol. Very strong in the opnening. Maybe the cold weather brought it out, or it just clicked in my brain. But still what I get is mainly citrus and woods, and the dry down gets powdery with a little vanilla/caramel. So I have no clue what's up with the notes. Maybe it's a mix of all the notes from here and the other list. ----- I had been trying to figure out this perfume so hard because the notes didn't make any sense to me (mango?!! Lavender???) and I am new to this trying to decipher notes thing... Well here are the notes according to Ard Al Zaafaran: Top Notes: Bergamot, Orange Middle Notes: Iris, Patchouli, Rose, Vetiver Base Notes: Tonka Bean, Caramel, Musk, Oud, Vanilla

Ghality is one of those middle eastern fragrances that needs to mature for a looong time. I received mine over a month ago and although I can see it transforming, it’s not there yet! It was one of the worst smelling ones I’ve received when it was fresh out of the box, but I know well enough never to judge these middle eastern scents on that. I am patiently waiting to see how this turns out! I agree that its bottle is similar to the box of Gucci’s The Alchemist’s Garden collection, so it’s possible that it’s going for one of those. I don’t think it’s the chant of the Nymph though. I could be wrong since mine isn’t quite ready yet, but I don’t see it from the notes. I can tell this is going to be pretty, so I’ll update a better review once mine finishes “cooking”! Edit 7/5-it's maturing quite nicely! I’m starting to pick up the vanilla. It’s not quite there yet. It has a slight burning rubber smell if you really put your nose to it. Hopefully that goes away! Otherwise it’s a pretty white floral with a woody vanilla base! I’ll give it another month and check back! Update-12/10 I checked in on this today and even though the top is a bit motor oil-ish, it warms up to a beautiful floral vanilla! I bet in a couple more months this will be perfect! As I said in my original post, this one takes a very long time to mature! Or I had a brand new bottle, but it’s showing great potential! Just don’t plan on using it right out of the box if you want to enjoy its full potential

@Ismellgood2024 I just got a new bottle, I agree when i first sprayed it it might as well have been some self defense spray or a slap across a face, it was so sharp and obnoxious. I will let it sit for a while but as of now is a no go. 3 month in, still heavy and sharp.
