Oudi

Bought a 100ml bottle with deodorant for just £11 at the Birmingham Rag Market. I fell in love with Oudi at first sniff. Crazy longevity and excellent protection; the sandalwood, moss and a little rose push through an oud that's mellow without becoming skanky. Very refined and definitely a male fragrance. I wear at all times of day and this really shines on a warm spring day. To comment on Vostok's opinion; I'm personally glad that more people aren't discovering fragrances like this. You won't meet anyone smelling exactly like you.

A creamy woody floral mix that leans on the masculine side. The note breakdown will lead you to think it's an oud dominant fragrance... It's not! It's in the background supporting the other notes giving the fragrance its woody accord. I can barely smell it, tbh. Good projection and average longevity for this one. The scent is amazing though. Worth a try for its low price.

I have the rollerball and bottle and all I get is dark, dank wood. Not bad since I love the smell! But I don't really get any of the other notes. Lasts forever!

This more than any other fragrance I own hits the nail on the head when it comes to what I was searching for at the very start of my fragrance collecting, wearing and enjoying hobby. It's not the best I have, real oud cognoscenti will perhaps sneer at it and it certainly isn't the most expensive fragrance I have. What it is is something quite else. I've tried all manner of fragrances from inexpensive middle Eastern houses such as but not limited to Lataffa, Rasasi, Al Rehab and Khalis with mostly excellent but sometimes poor results. I'm often pleasantly surprised and delighted but I generally get what I pay for as is the universal law of life and buying fragrances. Oudi by Ard-Al-Zaafaran performs the miracle of at the same time smelling exotic and incensey (without smelling like a head-shop or spice drawer), a weeny bit medicinal (avoiding being like a first aid box), sweet (without being syrupy or caramel sickly), deep (without being heavy and cloying), smokey (without being charred), leathery (without smelling like a car freshener or the inside of a shoe box), woodsy (without being like freshly sawn pine or pencil shavings) and sexy (without being skanky and dirty). Performance is stellar. I've worn it a few times with no less than twelve hours each time with it holding onto at least a bit of projection. I sprayed my wrists and single toot on my forearms at 5:30am. I'm working in a foundry and I'm on my break now at 3pm and it's still going like a train. It cost me £5.50 for 50ml which is something around six and a half American dollars. Ridiculous price for what you get. 100ml bottles are the ones you see most on ebay but there are also 6ml oil roll on versions and a flat 20ml pocket sprayer which is like a thick credit card. That's choice for ya. In my mind's eye this is what Omar Sharif's Ali smelled like when he rode out of the middle distance heat haze towards us on his camel in Lawrence of Arabia. Masculine, noble, clean, regal, enticing, etherial and magical with a few unpolished facets. I'm not a Sauvage or mass appeal fragrance knocker. I like Sauvage..... even wear it as my fancy takes me as well as other popular fragrances but I really wish that the general public would experience fragrances like this Ard-Al-Zaafaran. They're missing out. They really are. We don't get long on planet Earth at best and there's an abundance of hidden treasures like this to seek out and try. No one in the pub will smell like you with this on you and for every reason to your benefit. If you don't wear it for anyone else you'll get a kick out of wearing this for yourself. Would suit a walk through the park kicking up dead leaves with your lover on a sharp cold afternoon before heading for the local hostelry, Bonfire Night parties, Halloween outdoor shenanigans, that kind of cold weather outdoorsy social stuff. Having said that, it's not an overwhelming thermonuclear fragrance and it behaves itself when taken indoors to warm up. Not an office scent, not really a date night scent unless used in strong moderation and definitely not a gym scent. This one has pleased me immensely and not purely because of its low price. It's just great for what it is.

Lets make this clear....this smells of nothing much except Camel dung. It pretty much smashes you in the face with manure and farmyard. Camels plodding across the dunes leaving vast piles of dung under the desert sky. By rights, this should be something most people would detest and definitely wouldn't spend money to smell like. I hated it at first. Its sure an aquired taste and it sure isn't for the ladies. Its not sophisticated and you're absolutely not going to wear it on a date or basically any social function unless its arab, people aren't going to understand. They're all gonna laugh at you. I get nothing but a clinging filthy wood scent here, from start to finish. It lasts FOREVER and may need a few washes to get it off skin and clothes. The one i got is nuclear and doesn't like to fade. I tried this a few times and never get any rose etc. I just don't see or detect any of that. Maybe i need to leave it a few months? As it stands, its a potent and everlasting cowpat smell. Its kind of horrible. But yet I love it. I could not ever wear this more than a few times a year though, its too much and it doesn't actually smell like cologne really. its probably a 100% love or hate opinion divider. Its so flat and linear its ideal for layering with sweet scents that need a strong woody base booster. its worth buying even if its just used for that, its so affordable you can get 2 bottles just to help out crap fragrances. I used it like this yesterday and it worked a treat. it'll fill out anything with a consistently beefy strong base note. If this is a band then Oudi is surely the drummer keeping time and holding it all together. I love it because to me its the smell of Morocco out in the countryside, the smell of the trillions of stars high in the African sky on a 32c night under the crescent moon. A few years back i was engaged to a daughter of a Moroccan sheep and goat herder out in the ante-Atlas Mountains of Souss Massa. Its funny how i end up in places travelling. Where her family lived they were poor, way out in the wild off any roads that were passable except by 3 hours Range Rover through herder trails. They lived in a tiny community scattered in a valley under the vast cactus some twenty feet high. They had no electric grid and people made their own amusement and washed and lived with a generator for a little electric to have lights and hot water at night. They cooked and heated the family shack with a single open wood fire. Everybody ate sat on the floor, there were no beds or sofas etc, just cushions and blankets, handwoven. No Television, no radios. We long split up and never ended up married but i always loved that unique smell of rural Morocco and i still do now. The rural heart of Morocco smells like this to me. its the smell of poverty, kindness, humility, stoicism and generosity. Its the smell of camel shit to others. One mans trash is another mans treasure. The bottle is a nice design too, a keeper. 8/10 for me

Fragrance silage is off the charts. I’ve never smelt an oud which projects this far. i can guarantee you when your wearing this fragrance there are very few fragrances that can over power something like this. this fragrance is very intense, with more of a tabacco and rose smell opposed to oud, gave me a headache the first time i applied it. However, i have grown to love it. It’s a hard fragrance to wear and you really have to pick your moments with it as i feel some people may not appreciate the complexity of this fragrance (would refrain from wearing something like this around younger people, or europeans). i wouldn’t recommend blind buying its, as its sent profile is quite intense.

Synthetic Agarwood and Ambergris accords followed by coumarin is typically what you'll smell there. The Ambergris is a bit wierd though, smells similar to how I make it, but at the same time a little unusal they've added something in there I'm not quite sure what it is, they did the same sought of Ambergris accord in Rihanah Rayaanat Al OUD, I don't know it just smells a little unusal. Personally I prefer my Ambergris accord to be honest, but never the less it's good and an overall pleasing Oriental woody fragrance. Projection is mainly intimate and longevity I don't know roughly 6-8 hrs yeah about that. Good value for money and I certainly do love my OUD. Yep get it

I have the 3ml oil version. (roll-on) This is kinda sweet, woody-spicy. The oud after u can see, it's the main note on an amber base with some spices. The performance on my skin it's pretty good, it projected quite heavy in the first 1-2 hour, but after that it super quickly became a skin scent for another 5-6 hours. - but on clothes, was different, after I used the oil, I took my jacket -> fast forward, even after 4 days I could feel the scent on my jacket (inside, where my neck was).

I too detect some kind of a tart purple fruit and musk, especially in the drydown. At the beginning it's quite smoky to my nose and actually reminds me a bit of L'Agent by Agent Provocateur and of Shaghaf Oud Abyad by Swiss Arabian. I cant't smell that much wood. Oudi is a bit synthetic, but not generic. It's very distinctive, dark, mysterious, long lasting and definitely worth the price.

I just tried Nasomatto Nudiflorum and as far as I can tell is at least 90% the same as Oudi. So what I wrote before applies for Nudiflorum as well.

I tried the roll-on version of this and it reminded me of Tom Ford's Fucking Fabulous, but more intense and "darker".

Great scent! 7$ but doesn't smell cheap at all.. I chose it over lattafa oud for greatness 8/10

Not the most remarkable fragrance, poor Sillage and doesn't last except on fabric. Upside is that this smells just like Bakhoor chips so if you want to season your clothes like bakhoor, this is an option. Just wish there was more depth and clarity to each component of the scent, and better performance .

It almost seems like some reviewers are getting different bottles of this than others. I'm leaning in the disappointing camp. There's so floral rose very briefly then dry, burnt spice and fake oud. But it's cloyingly dank, like cheap incense and then quite powdery. It also seems to have very short length on the skin. Projection isn't theelre either. Cheap but nought compared to the firm's Black Orchid homage.

Quality control or concentration seems to be all over the place. I’ve tested this a few times from shops and it always seems very weak, light, and not long lasting. I’d be weary of buying this online or in the US because it you don’t know what you’ll get.

Maybe I got a bad batch or don't have a refined nose but this smells like straight up grandad, something you would smell off a man who hasn't let go of the same bottle of cologne since the 70s.

I saw Martins reviews below comparing this to fucking fabulous & nudiflorum - those are favorites of mine, so I got a 50ml spray thinking I would love it. I don't! I don't know if the spray & oil versions differ (as with some of the al rehabs), its an ok fragrance,but I am quite underwhelmed by it. So - I don't smell any similarity to FF, but at a push, I can kinda for nudiflorum, just as it has a similar-ish sweetness and also has a slight dustiness to it, but those are very slight comparisons, not enough for me to personally say that I think they are comparable. Anyway, Oudy is quite light & I didnt think performance was that great; It opens with a caramelised jammy rose that's a little dusty - and then turns into a clean musky caramel with a very, very slight mossiness - and then dries down to a non descript sweet woodyness. This is nice enough - but I feel that it lacks any real depth & I just don't find it particularly exciting or interesting. Having said that, I usually hate rose - but I dont in this - so that's a positive & I'll prehaps hang on to it for a while and give it some more wearings to see if it grows on me.

Am I the only one, who detects a jammy, musky fruit note (volatile sulfur compound), in this blend? It reminds me of blackcurrants, or burnet rose hip jam. The oakmoss begins to shine through, about five minutes after application. I can tell that this frag is going to be like an everlasting gobstopper, as it develops! Will update, as it changes. I've detected another strong note - synthetic ambergris! Ambroxan, perhaps. I'm pretty sure that's what makes this fragrance intriguing, is that ambergris/cassis base note.

This is a tobacco scent. I don’t detect any oudh. Fantastic and strong. Looking forward to trying some of the suggestions in the reviews to feminise it. It’s a power scent. If Bleu de Chanel was tobacco - same charisma
