Atlantic Ambergris II

I just blind bought this with some trepidation, given the dismissive review by blogger Kafkaesque. I have about 20 Areej le Dore fragrances in total and of these only Creme de la Creme is ambergris focused. I do have Bortnikoff Amber Cologne and Oud Cologne, which both have a generous does of ambergris, and also a few Rojas such as Kingdom of Bahrain and Pierre de Velay 9, which also have prominent ambergris, or at least an ambergris accord. This one opens up with a kind of medicinal coca cola and clove vibe which is at once salty but also shows off an old school spiciness from cloves and nutmeg. It seems to come from the same era as Chanel Egoist. It is complex and mesmerising but also stark and bracing. It quickly transitions into a freezer burn phase where it is almost too much, perhaps from the cloves (as mentioned by Kafkaesque) but this only lasts about ten minutes after which it becomes warmer, silkier and almost cloud like. It is here where is really starts to sing. After this it becomes addictive and retreats a bit in silage, but the overall impression is like standing by the ocean on a cloudy but warm day where all the impressions of the sea salt, kelp, and seaside trees and flowers come into play. It is at once salty and creamy with residues of the clove and nutmeg, but also a distinct oak moss component that reminds me of Areej le Dore Manly, but without the tobacco. The florals also peak in here, but I do not find the bubble gummy at all, like others have on their skin. Comparing to Creme de la Creme it is less modern and more of that bracing barber shop vibe, but both have saltiness and a coca cola vibe. Compared to Bortnikoff Oud Cologne and Amber Cologne or PdV 9 it is much more serious and old school and not really a beach summery ambergris at all, so no comparison is even valid. Maybe a mix of Roja's Kingdom of Bahrain meets Roja Enigma or Xerjoff Starlight is a good approximation, because there is something deep and ambery, seductive and old school, warm and inviting, all framed by the salty ambergris cloud. In short, I love it! There are about ten minutes where the clove dominates but it is short lived and when it settles down it is pure magic. Can't see how YouTuber Ramsey can rank this so much lower than Amber Cologne, which is just another tropical floral with a little ambergris sprinkled in, IMHO. Atlantic Ambergris II is a much more profound expression of ambergris and much more profound in general.

One of my favorite ambergris perfumes. Most of the ALD offerings unfortunately aren‘t for me - either too animalic or flowery. This on the other hand is one of the rare cases where the DNA truly fits right up my alley : Fresh, cooling & green opening with citrus, pine & cardamom, so uplifting. In combination with the warm spices including cinnamon-y nutmeg & clove a really pleasant Cola-accord shows itself prominently, with creamy florals & white ambergris blending & enhancing it all together brilliantly, giving this mineralic 3D-effect. Drydown is slightly smoky from the oakmoss, a little woody & sweet as well. There are no prominent synthetics, the quality is great, lots of premium naturals are used in here, elegantly blended. The overall character is really pleasant, likeable & wearable, which is also important to me because I can wear it often this way. A great pick for autumn & winter ! What‘s also a stunner is the presentation. ALD puts a lot of effort into it compared to other brands, many which charge much more for their products but have much cheaper looking presentation. Let‘s hope for a third version as good or even better than the previous ones ! 🙏🏼

It’s my first feedback here) I don’t’ have an experienced nose, for sure) to break down to notes, but at the beginning I feel the touch of citrus combined with pine needles scent! That’s something extraordinary for me! I haven’t felt such pine needles scent before! Further, as for me, there is an ambergris, at first there are saltish mineral notes within the first hour, later some sweet scents appear! Its sweetness is not fruity, not bakery sweetness, not sugared, it’s something interesting, beyond words! Among all amber fragrances the ambergris here is the juiciest! Genuine! Very interesting! It’s difficult for me to highlight every note, the fragrance is so sophisticated! Wood, flowers, moss, incense! A gorgeous mixture! In my brief experience this fragrance is glorious! It sounds fabulously! It’s beautiful! I run out of words! It’s by far not my first fragrance from Areej le Doré and it’s just BOOM! Certainly, the masterpiece! Thank you, Adam, for your work! I ask you: never stop to amaze perfume lovers!

I have a half bottle of this beautiful fragrance. I absolutely love it, I cant describe the notes, because I can’t smell each separately, it’s very well blended. The dry down is where the magic happens. Omg it’s soo good. I just need one half spray on my wrist, touch with other wrist and all day I am enveloped with the beautiful scent. Amazing 🤩 Russian Adam is such a perfume talent. Not many can touch him. He has created the best of the best. I’m impressed. I would love to buy a decant of the original. And a bottle of Siberian Musk and a decant of Russian Oud, as I know nobody will ever part with a bottle. Please message me if you’d like to sell me some from your collection. I've tried most of Areej frags. I sold a few I learned I didn't care for. My favorite are Siberian Musk and Agar Noir. Trying my sample of Atlantic Abergris a few days ago, I realized this was a favorite now. Top 5 at least. The ambergris is salty, oceanic, very pleasantly blended with pine, violet and cardomom. All favorite notes. It also has a good myrrh note, hard to find. The myrrh makes it a standout favorite over Baikal Gris, which has no resins. Rating: 10/10 God bless. John 3:16

Very well blended spicy and floral fragrance with oceanic feel.One of my favorite from Areej.This does have a zen feeling and heavy dose of Ambergris.You have to love spices to love this fragrance as it is mainly blended with nutmeg,cloves,cardomom and Myrrah.Sillage is good with 3 sprays and it’s very long lasting.I do mainly use it in winter or cool evening.

The citrus spice opening is a pleasant briney punch in the face. It carries through to the middle backed by the undercurrent of nutmeg, cardamom, and clove. Rich syrupy florals poke out through the sandy beach here and there. Pushing through the pungent salty sea air I am taken on a nautical voyage through the spice trade routes of yesterday.

This one has quickly become one of my favourites. It’s literally with me wherever I go. Absolutely stunning scent, and never have I received so many compliments! This was my first purchase from Areej le Dore and I ordered their Civet de Nuit last week - can’t wait to try it.

Spicy and fresh ambergris is the best way I could think to describe this one. As it transforms on the skin it becomes more and more oceanic reminding me of smelling the sea breeze on a beach when I was a kid. The clove and cardamom are the spices that stand out to me the most adding depth and brightness rather than a singular note. Very interesting experience with this fragrance. Can not wait to try it on skin. 7/10

Sotd 😍 Newly released by @russianadam @areejledoreperfume Atlantic Ambergis II A re-release from a classic that once upon a time graced the world. What do I think of AAII A combination of sweet and sour opening, definitely offers the oceanic vibe, which quickly develops into a warm tropical like aroma. Imagine the aroma of sandy dunes mixed with the ocean water on a hot hot blazing day, that's where it takes me. The fruity / Juicy vibes are most likely from the bergamot note, very compact and intricate to try singling out the individual notes. As we get into the heart of the perfume, there is that powdery DNA of Areej presents. An evident green tea like note then springs forth, very rich and floral, coupled with the spicy notes of cardamon. The jasmine Sambac and White Champaka work effortlessly together, offering similiar accords so when mixed together further enriches the aroma. I'm not sure entirely if it's the ambergis I'm getting, but it's like a fresh , mossy musky accords. Sweet and somewhat woody and even animalic, And the heart of it being this salty oceanic type of accord that dances around, its definitely not oft putting, rather well balanced and offers a different style to the fragrance. Can't escape the smell of cloves, added to the spicy group of cardamon and nutmeg. At the base after about 30mins of having the scent applied on my skin it becomes like a smooth buttery like aroma, with a combination of leather and Musky vibes from the labdanum, I'm learning so much more about labdanum it really is a brilliant set of ingredients to use. The usage of nagarmotha as russian adam pointed out on his video offers a variety of different accords, some accords as explained before , but cedar, vetiver and patchouli, are extra notes I find that are given birth to at the base. In conclusion I would say this is another brilliant fragrance created by @russianadam it's different from the heavy heedy explosives of maybe Oud Luwak, War and Peace, Cuir De Russie or even lately, the Manly release, but in its own right, it offers depth, comfort, quality and can feel the richness that surrounds it.

Atlantic Ambergris II opens with a deep, fermented bergamot citrus note ala Musk Lave in conjunction with Russian Adam’s Pine Forest accord most notably found in the Russian Musk series. Here’s it’s dialed down and expertly blended in soft bubblegum florals which calls to mind a vintage Chypre of yesteryear. The moment you spray you know that Ambergris has weaved it’s warm, spicy, sweet web into the entire scent structure of AA2. Almost immediately you’re hit with a blast of ambergris laced spices most notably Cardamom and Cloves. The scent structure of AA2 isn’t so much a pyramid as it is an unfolding and unfurling of scent where each material sings harmoniously together in the opening only to strip away and reveal the ever present core of tonkafied orris butter and spiced ambergris. The heart of AA2 is most reminiscent of Musk Lave. It’s a warm spicy cola with a hefty overdose of Cardamom and cloves. There’s an austere, desolate feeling to this fragrance and the warmth from the tonka helps to bring life and energy to an altogether “serious” scent. This isn’t playful. Rather this is like a piece of floating driftwood caught amongst a patch of gentle sea foam floating along the shore of the Pacific Northwest. Orris plays a pretty large factor in this scent. Rich, creamy, and tad powdery at times the orris bridges the top to the bottom. Each material seems to form their own bridge as the ever present spices and ambergris mingle with each material that slowly strips away. Ambergris provides a clean, creamy texture to the overall drydown with its unmistakable salty seafoam nuances. Oakmoss and powdery incense akin to a barbershop close out the wearing and while quite a bit of transition took place from the opening, don’t expect something entirely different or hidden. AA2 plays out like a true symphonic experience and the base is present the moment you first spray. Performance is a 10/10 I get 16 hours on skin Projection is strong for 4-6 before forming a gentle scent bubble.

Like most Areej le Dore perfumes, this one only improved for me and got better and better with time. I must say that I do prefer this version over the first one, as the white ambergris in here is very prominent, while it felt more dormant with the original one. Also, I prefer Atlantic Ambergris over Baikal Gris (the other ambergris-centered perfume from the house) by a large margin. The perfume is incredibly complex, going through three main stages in the classic top-heart-base perfume structure while combining different genres in one work. It has some Fougere qualities, some Chypre ones, as well as some Oriental ones. The canvas for the entire composition is the white ambergris, which smells incredibly clean, oceanic, salty, and mineral, with a very delicate and mesmerizing profile, as this variety has. And if you are looking for an ambergris-centered perfume, this is hard to top, especially since you will be entertained with much more. The opening is spicy and juicy. I get bergamot, cloves, and cardamom but also a faint ylang-ylang at this stage already, lending an exotic, fruity-like quality to the opening. Pine is listed as a top note but I don't get that yet. It feels cool and a bit old-fashioned because of the heavy clove, but also very aromatic and warm from the cardamom. The heart unfolds floral facets, that almost feel bubble-gummy at times, as I usually might perceive the combination of ylang-ylang and certain jasmine varieties, and here I also get the pine. Floral and woodsy. In the base, there's warmth given by the resins and earthiness from the moss. It almost feels chewy here, the combination of myrrh, labdanum, and oakmoss. The oceanic minerality is always present, in the background. A perfume of many colors, facets, and flavors, spanning various genres but always staying true to the main ingredient, ambergris. For review 1555, I decided to go with this one... This one reminds me of a few other ALDs, though this one has an extra punch that lands this close to Pantheon territory. Spicy cola, piney and vintage citrus -- it's such a wonderful combo -- it's irresistible! I remember getting this in late 2021, just after my city had been locked down, having gone in with a friend -- it might have been my first ALD FB -- nonetheless, I am so glad I got this. The ambergris is soft and muted, but you can still feel it -- it pairs well with cloves (not much does, IMO), so it was refreshing to see cloves done well. There is a slight metallic hum in the background, minor, but detectable, and not at all annoying, but it is present. Love this!

First ALD I've tried on skin and, wow it was an interesting experience after years of highly synthetic fragrances. Opens up heavily with a cognac infused with pine smell. The ambergris is detectable shortly after, sort of salty and fizzy. Heavy on the cloves as well. The associations to cola are not far fetched but this thing changes on skin within 30 minutes to a smoky myrrh fest and then finally to a gingernsnap cookie with the ambergris floating around.

Big dose of cloves drenched in cola syrup, served with a slice of various citrus fruits. Atleast for the first 5 minutes. After that it becomes a very softly textured but very spicy amber accord. A very natural one with myrrh, tart labdanum and cinnamon mainly. A slight dose of mineralic ambergris. Cozy, warming scent but I wish the opening was the whole perfume. It's magnificent. Drydown doesn't go all the way for my taste.

ammmmm. There is lots of clove in it and an oily smell I am some how familiar with. I don't get salty or beachy from it. I think it reminds me of Lush store. It is spicy and potent. I guess I know what Areej Le Dore style is. It's probably not for me!
