Ottoman Empire Part II

Another (or revived) masterpiece from Russian Adam. There's a general theme that resonates with people who have this fragrance; it makes them happy. At first, I was slightly put off by OE2 due to the presence of the jasmine and frangipani (not a big fan of florals, but love the rose in this) but the more I wore it, the more I grew to love and appreciate it. The ouds that have been used in it are just sublime and once the top floral notes die down and the other notes start to come to the forefront, it gives me a very euphoric pleasant feeling. I actually appreciate the florals now because they give it a nice well-rounded balance. I even prefer it over Siberian Musk 2. The Assam agarwood gives it that addictive sweaty leathery vibe, oud connoisseurs will love this. Longevity was phenomenal, projection remains stable and moderate throughout. Two sprays on skin is more than enough for an entire day, on clothes it lasts all week. The presentation is absolutely stunning and the best that Russian Adam has produced to date, the calligraphy on the box, soft feel of the box, the numbering of bottles, metal plated labels etc. This is Roja Dove quality, Russian Adam is the artisan Roja. Unfortunately, less than 400 bottles are in existence and only a lucky few will be able to experience this unique masterpiece. I think that it is much better than the newer fragrances that Russian Adam has been producing and the high demand to replicate it simply highlights that fact.

Call me crazy, but this smells like a vintage leather chypre to me. I get a lot of oud while the quiet yet substantial floral notes bloom in the background, they are seamlessly blended as no single flower steals the spotlight. The powder I pick up gives it a sumptuous, velvety feel. This perfume might be beyond my capacity to describe, but I find it a beautiful, smooth, sueded floral with sweet animalic touches that call to mind high-end leather goods, or leather seats in an impossibly expensive, luxury motor car. Whether or not my nose is “correct” it still translates to a beautiful scent.

This is a lovely an well-balanced spicy, floral, woody scent with and eastern/western dual sensibility. The overall impression to me is a shiny, lacquered, spicy rose-oud, but the other florals and woods and spices do feel like they help shade in that larger theme. While it definitely isn't a total smell-alike to other Areej scents that center Rose and Oud, it brings to mind Inverno Russo (which seems to emphasize the animalistic notes more) and War and Peace (which seems to emphasize Iris/powder and leather).

beautiful opulent real. one thing is curious to me however. there seems to be a wallop of musk in here and it's not listed.

A powdery Floriental centered around a beautiful Turkish rose it is easy to see why this perfume has such mass appeal and cult following that it has inspired a remake after the first edition sold out rather quickly. The fougere style perfume opens with the strong rose note surrounded by slight hints of jasmine, ylang-ylang, pepper and cardamom. The brief heart contains Oud, saffron, vetiver, nutmeg and cinnamon. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of amber, sandalwood, myrrh and as most fougeres a pronounced oakmoss. Overall the perfume induces euphoric feelings of walking in a beautiful rose garden on a balmy day. It is unisex with moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. However I would be remiss to say that compared to some of the newer more complex offerings by this superb line, this seems a bit simplistic and unexciting as a whole. It is still a beautiful scent with high quality natural ingredients. Enjoy!

It is suitable for a very cold or even rainy winter day .. it will never let you down .... for it is not suitable for closed places , especially if you enter the place it after a direct spray ....

Warm, sensual floral. Easy to wear, not offensive. Versatile, day or night but maybe not to the office. I don't get much oud but a little nutmeg and cinnamon. Quality there, what you'd expect from this house. Limited amounts make this even mo exquisite.

I have tried many other fragrances from Adam and love most of them, but this is the only one I can't stand at all. The oud is nice, but accompanying it is a truly horrific miasma of what I can only describe as the smell of "ancient messy single-wide trailer filled with unwashed clothes and cat piss". I wore it on two occasions to give it a fair chance, but it nearly made me retch every time my nose got too close to my wrist. Even now it makes me nauseous just thinking about wearing it. I wanted to love this, but this was the most adverse reaction I've ever had from any fragrance I've ever tried of thousands. I still very much respect Russian Adam's work and Areej le Dore line, but this is very much a pass for me.

It was released in 2019; The perfumer who signs this fragrance is Russian Adam. Combinations of 'oud and pink can be common. However, unfortunately, most of them are designed with synthetic substitutes and do not contain genuine 'oud(agar oil) nor real rose oil. In contrast, this breathtaking composition consists of the most precious materials: pure agar essential oil ('oud), pure rose essential oil, pure aged sandalwood oil, rose water co-distilled with frangipani and mango jasmine, distillation made by Russian Adam himself. In my view, this perfume will appeal to a more mature audience, especially those looking for a natural, luxurious, arabesque combination of authentic, soft rose, pure ingredients, aged oud and other rare ingredients. Ottoman Empire is an Extrait De Parfum' oud oriental woody spicy floral aromatic amber. This is an 'Oud & Roses' on another level of definition and naturalness. A true blend of flowers, 'ouds and fabulous resins. It is a woody resinous floral ... All very, very natural, wonderful consistent ouds, but nothing screams too much, neither the roses nor the ouds, incredible as it may seem; All very well built and balanced. Difficult to describe this perfume, it is complex without being challenging. Great Performance (Fixation/Projection)! A true masterpiece by Russiam Adam. Ottoman Empire II is primarily an oud fragrance with leathery-musky nuances. The rose is there initially, but somewhat behind a veil. The oud isn't medicinal, cheesy, barnyard-y or animalic; it's rather woody-leathery earlier on, and a few hours later leathery-musky. If one has to dissect then there are floral elements, but overall it isn't particularly floral to my nose. To my nose, this is a somewhat linear fragrance. It does show development, but that is sort of the oud revealing its different facets, rather than some conventional transition from opening to base as one finds in classical perfumery. There are a lot of listed notes, but on my skin there is minimal separation of notes. All I smell is the central oud accord from start to finish. It has good presence on skin, and goes on for several hours; some might find the initial/mid phases a bit sharp (though not synthetic-sharp), while the dry down is soft and just a little sensuous. The schtick is strong with Areej Le Dore fragrances, and they tend to hit you before you smell the fragrance. This is a brand that highlights its usage of high-quality and rare naturals. While this could be the case (this one certainly does smell like it has a good quality oud oil), the issue is that the final compositions lack polish and refinement, and do not smell particularly appealing. I've had a similar experience with the original Siberian Musk, which was a more nuanced composition but at the same time identically lacking. These aren't cut from the same cloth as something like Amouage Tribute, for example, and aren't as polished/refined as the better examples of mainstream western perfumes. A separate issue as a consumer is that these perfumes are created in limited numbers (for whatever reasons) and that drives up prices through speculation, not to mention creating echo-chambers of fanboys. Even if I ignore all of that as background noise, I find these to be a hard-buy given that these are structurally in the middle ground between western perfumery and middle-eastern attars and oils, but lacking the best features of either. 2.5/5

This blend has some similarity with "Walimah". It has nut meg cinnamon, amber mix. Now roses isn't dominant, it's the cinnamon, frangipani mix that dominates the blend with powder effect. Now after minutes, the sweet myrrh rises abit and honestly i can't detect any type of oud here! It's a cute blend indeed, & i'm very happy that i have tested it after it is sold out, and honestly i'm happy that i didn't purchase a blind full bottle when i had the chance. I believe "Indolis", & "Flux de Fleur" are enough for me.

I haven't had the original. This is a very well done floral. I was hoping for a more woody aspect owning oud luwak and having small decants of Russian oud and oud picante. It's a very very impressive floral, but it underwhelmed me at the cost. I can say I feel happy and at peace with the world when i wear it. Hoping for more wood as it matures with age.

A very opulent blend! Extremely rich oud with beautiful roses. Sillage is beastmode, two sprays max or you will kill a room! I adore this. 9/10
