Walimah II

I have always had a problem with floral scents, it is hard for me to distinguish all these notes from the whole vastness of magical scents. Walimah for me is a true masterpiece of perfumery. Magic and a transcendental journey to some other spiritual dimension. If I were to wake up somewhere after death, I would like it to smell like this... hello... if someone hears me somewhere or reads - please and I will order it. We definitely have a beautiful combination of Far Eastern flowers here (I have already sensed something similar somewhere in the East) - I definitely sense magnolia, champaka here. We also have cocoa and notes of incense (burnt essential flowers). Agarwood is also noticeable and this note for quite a long time, but after some time, it is noticeable until the end of this scent. Very good parameters and I think that from the last very good collection of Russian Adam, this one is the best and is a real masterpiece. It's a pity that on me it veers towards the feminine side, so I don't notice it on me, but on a woman's body I would smell it with great pleasure and smell it with a film on my eyes until I finally close them.

Remarkably well done follow-up to one of my favorite scents of all time. I own both versions & could argue this version will be even better with age. V1 is blissfully smooth... V2 brings a bit more heft to the game with more oud & vetiver. It's the slightest bit more unisex than the original, but still my favorite slightly-femme-leaning floral to wear as a guy [Honorable mention to TF Champaca Absolute]. As someone who just wanted the original Walimah again, I must admit, this version is absolutely fantastic - Adam really nailed it.

Bordeaux colored lush florals over amazing aged vetiver. All notes are super high quality and clear. Florals are gently sweet, balmy and vetiver with oud is woody, brown and super smooth. This perfume is very close to attar version, so supposedly more unisex compared to OG PP, less sweet and more dense. Didnt try original perfume but a big fan of attar. No issue with longevity, sillage is soft but its perfect this way. Awesome release 🙌🏽

Florals in the opening are quite rich, heady with a hint of indole. But it soon tames down to meet a gorgeous ensemble of tobacco, labdanum and more prominently, vetiver. This fragrance is mostly a symphony of florals and gorgeous vetiver. Blended exceptionally well, this could very well be the perfumer's most accomplished and restrained composition to date.

Right from the get go, I’m getting a load of Bengal and Hindi Oud up front, with a sour yogurt type undertone, immediately followed by a combination of Magnolia and Champaka in the main floral heart. The Cacao boosted the chocolatey facet of Siberian musk that came in 10 to 15min later, it’s prominent but not in the same muskiness level as SM3. The cinnamon and saffron add a bit of spice to the overall scent profile, but they aren’t very pronounced on me. The Indonesian Vetiver is a power player on me in this composition, it lends to a blanket of rooty, earthy, and dark green layer beneath the thick and resinous bottom end, this earthy green facet is quite persistent throughout the dry down. Walimah 2 is a tough one to figure out, it’s super complex but chaotic to me at the same time, I don’t get the reunion theme, it’s more of an Agent of Chaos to my nose. It’s a very conflicting experience for me personally, it reminded me of watching Martha Steward with Snoop dogg in their cooking show, different ends of the spectrum sharing the same stage, very unusual pairing but nevertheless, it’s an interesting dynamic! For comparison sakes, OE4 is aesthetically more beautiful to me, with a higher mass appeal, not to say I didn’t like Walimah 2, it’s an interesting experience and I’m glad to have it, but this isn’t something I would wear as often as OE4 or SM3. W2 is awkwardly impressive, an abomination of a sexy beast in a very strange and unique way. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, your impression and result may vary, after all....taste is personal and a very subjective matter. I have worn W2 about 5 or 6 times by now, and I’ll keep wearing it from time to time to see if my perception or the juice would change with age.

I prefer Walimah 2 over the first. Number 2 is more refined and one has a bite to it. The florals in both are gorgeous as champaca can be slightly fruity with its floral background. Cacao is a reoccurring theme with adam and is becoming a signature for his compositions.

Walimah from Areej Le Dore. This is my favorite floral composition from the house, alongside Civet de Nuit. They both showcase powerful contrasts, where the florals are deeply grounded by the base. The other ones felt a bit bland for me or too "feminine". Also, both of them are highly complex perfumes, with intricate builds. I'm certain Civet de Nuit will become one of the most sought-after Areej perfumes once it sells out. In my opinion, people take it for granted. And like the first iteration of Walimah wasn't great already, Adam managed to pull off what, in my opinion, is an even better version, with Walimah II. They are almost identical, but the second one is slightly better. It feels like 110% of the first one. What changes the game is the addition of Indian Oud, which gives it more depth, a nice oomph and spicy kick to the opening, and deepens its colors further. Yes, I believe Walimah is a perfume of many colors. An Oriental-Floral composition that is hard to match. Feminine and inviting, sweet materials like florals, cocoa, and cinnamon meet masculine, rougher ones like vetiver, tobacco, oud, and musk. The most prominent floral note is the champaca, heady and wet, almost fleshy. The magnolia is a minor player, lending a hint of crisp fruitiness. There are warm spices that open the perfume and cocoa. The latter makes for a unique and delightful addition. It also pairs very well later on with the musk and the tobacco. The oud is a minor player in part I and more noticeable in part II, making for a fuller and rounder scent experience. The signature powdery musk of the house adds the final touch, alongside the resins in the base and the vetiver. Yes, the vetiver is a major player in this perfume. More so than the oud. Just like the cocoa, it is a unique and more than welcome addition that works incredibly well. It gives off this earthy-verdant quality that grounds the florals and contrasts them. I say it's unique because usually, Oud, Musk, or Ambergirs are used for that purpose, and this is where Adam's way of thinking outside the box comes into play. A terrific Oriental-Floral composition, among the best I have tried. I prefer Part II over Part I, and I believe it will get even better with time. Not my cup of tea at all. If you’re not a fan of natural, raw champaca you probably won’t enjoy this. It’s VERY floral forward. Leans feminine. Has some deer musk blended in the top and some musky Oud but overall has a bitter, sour milk accord that I really can’t get down with. I’m glad people love this fragrance and find it to be one of the best ALD’s ever created. I respect that. My issues come down to my initial dislike of champaca and how vaguely familiar this profile smells within the indie artisan scene. It doesn’t work with my skin chemistry nor my tastes.

Walimah 2 slightly reminiscent to Paradise Soil to me due to the natural deer musk used in the composition. However, It's a good stuff but not my cup of tea!
