Adonis Awakens

I've just been really getting into this hobby over the last few months, and one of the first niche fragrances I tried was the Argos sample pack, after I saw the gorgeous bottle in a YouTube video. I went to their website and looked at the options they had for sale, and was instantly impressed with their prices. I had been looking at expensive brands like Creed and PDM on Amazon, and was shocked at the $500/100 ml pricetag on some of them, so the Argos prices around $250/100 ml seemed like a better place to start. I ordered the sample pack, that cost $80 and included 11 different 2ml samples, and each one is presented in a bright, colorful card with the related fragrance information. I really appreciate that they include all of that information with the samples. I've gotten other sample packs since then, and feel overwhelmed with theirs, like the Bond No 9 one, for example. I had to make my own spreadsheet just to even decide where to start with sampling them. So I just went through the Argos sample pack and tried them all, and just used my own senses to decide which one to order a full bottle. I could tell that these fragrances weren't like the ones I'd tried at Sephora or Ulta. They all smelled unique to me, and I especially enjoyed Adonis Awakens and Bacio Immortale and Love Triumphs Over War and Thrill of the Chase. I've only ordered the one full bottle so far, which was a 100 ml Bacio Immortale, and it smells almost identical to Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, but I think Adonis Awakens is my second favorite from Argos. Adonis Awakens has a really bright, uplifting opening citrus note, that dries to reveal some nice pink peppercorn and rose, that dries down to oud and kind of a powdery scent, that just works amazingly for my nose. It seems like a more feminine leaning fragrance, but I would definitely wear it myself.

Got my bottle of Adonis Awakens by Argos today. As everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I personally find this fragrance truly unisex, not feminine as some have suggested. It opens slightly sweet, which I assume is why some perceive it as leaning feminine, but to my nose that’s not the case at all. For comparison, I’ve always found Creed Aventus to lean feminine by the same logic, even though many describe it as masculine. To me, Aventus is a very light, citrusy scent with minimal longevity unless you reapply generously every few hours (as I’ve mentioned in my previous reviews). The same reasoning (feminine/masculine) could apply to Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Angélique Noire, Planifolia, Diorama, and several others. Fragrance, after all, is highly subjective as it depends on one’s skin chemistry, pH balance, perception, and personal taste. Coming back to Adonis Awakens, it opens with a sweet, fruity freshness that’s not heavy or cloying. I applied just two sprays, and the sillage forms a soft aura around me which is about an arm’s length. I’ll be testing its longevity throughout the day and will update this review later. So far, Adonis Awakens feels far less sweet and feminine than the much-hyped Bal d’Afrique (not referring to the Absolu version, which may smell different). Overall, it comes across as an office-safe, fresh floral scent—semi-sweet yet slightly woody as it dries down. So far, so good. I’ll report back later on its lasting power. -Update after 6 Hours: The scent has totally toned down to skin level. I can only smell myself at this point. It is worth noting that i applied only two (2) sprays to see the projection and longevity. It could remain longer on clothes or more sprays on skin. Overall I liked this perfume from Argos, especially after it dried down. Tomorrow i will try Fall of Phaeton.

This is such a rich, pleasant and accessible rose, which while might not be mind blowingly unique, has been smoothly blended. The citrus opening is rather fleeting on my skin and is almost unnoticeable, bar the slight lingering bitterness of the grapefruit. Quickly you will be hit by the rose and raspberry combo, which is neither overly rose-y, such as in POAL, nor too fruity from the raspberry itself, however you will clearly be able to notice both of them. This on my skin remains the main composition of the fragrance, which is masterfully supported by the creaminess of the sandalwood and the deep chestnut note, which make the fragrance much more mature and complete, and in fact, more interesting than a common rose/raspberry combo you can find elsewhere. I'm not big fan of the price of this fragrance, but on my skin this concoction is nuclear and a 100ml bottle will probably last me a lifetime. Do NOT spray directly on light-colored clothes, especially up-close. It will very likely stain them. Spray on skin, the scent is strong enough to fill the room, without using clothes projection. I'd happily wear this all-year round but predominantly in the evening, and definitely not in intensive heat, as I can see it becoming headache inducing for the wearer and the surrounding people. If you do not posses any "mature" rose scents in your collection, this is will be a great starter! Also, I love how the Argos scents are getting review-bombed out of existence, including by a person who allegedly did not get his order, because it was cancelled, but he had to scrub the fragrance off of his skin anyway...

Runner up for my favorite from Argos. This is excellent! Very beautiful of course, but the scent itself is just what I always wanted from a "masculine" rose. I've tried several fragrances in that vein but never something made me want a bottle like this did. Opening is very delicious, invigorating, rather fitting with the juice color and the whole art behind it. Very much like an awakening for the seasons to change, like I recall the mythology behind Adonis. This is a great transitional fragrance, not too bight but not to heavy, while still having great performance. This is Argos' freshest (if not, then just behind Pour Homme) until Neptune's Trident hits, probably. Very wearable, even signature worthy. Performance is no joke with solid ~10h longevity o skin with strong projection for the first few hours. Never an undetectable skin scent for the whole life of the fragrance, so I'm probably undershooting with the 10h longevity. More masculine take on a rose fragrance like the EDP of Oud Satin Mood - without the presente sweetness and that great wearable oud. Parallel fragrances at most, but that's the closest I could get. Haha! Worth a sample at least, even if you're not into rose fragrances. Price point at retail is very high but anywhere between $150 and $200 is game with Argos and this is one of the best in their lineup.

This one opens citrusy, fruity, not overly bright or sweet with a noticeable pepper note, just right, but a lot softer than I imagined, after a few minutes it settles in to a sweet rose that leans a little feminine but very elegant nonetheless. I was expecting a much stronger rose forward fragrance,even though it’s very noticeable it’s definitely not as rosy as other fragrances out there. The mid stays that way for about 2 hours and then start settling in to the more masculine soft woody base that last a very , very long time, after 24hs I can still smell it on my skin. This is a fragrance I imagine an Italian man with a summer suit or a southern gentleman wearing it , there’s an elegant sexiness about it .I even picture my wife wearing it actually I can’t wait to go home and try it on her skin 😄. Bottom line if you’re an avid collector and you like rose fragrances, you’ll love it, but a spray on the wrist doesn’t do justice to this fragrance like a full wearing. Edit: after several tries the projeection is still extremely weak, just barely above a skin scent. I’m letting this one sit for a few weeks to see if it improves. Tried it on my skin and my wife’s skin with the same result...absolutely gorgeous, but weak.

I blind bought it; here are my initial thoughts: It’s pleasant, it’s weird, unique as hell. Not very masculine but doesn’t bother me, just thought some ppl might be. It’s weirdly frizzy, a carbonated soda with rose water is how I think it smells like. Then you’re not drawn to the frizz much because the soft cashmere just hits your nostrils just right that it’s good. I’m currently stuck idk if I’m smelling it right, I’ll give this a month to sit and marinate as well. I’ll be using this to the office as well. It’s very pleasant, the cashmere is a great blend here, I like it, but I’ll give it more tries. LAST EDIT: after owning it for a few months; this is one of the easiest scents to reach out for and extremely enjoyable to wear, like holy shit I sometimes go out of my way to take a sniff from the cap 😭 the art, the scent, and literally everything about this scent is so awesome... I think for me personally, this is one of the few perfumes I would keep if I ever stopped collecting and would always come back to this. Perfect for winter, phenomenal in the summer so far, and it’s genuinely so beautiful. 9/10 fragrance for me, this genuinely has upped itself from first sniff to 3 months later. Godddddd I LOVE this.

Got this as a free sample when I ordered a bunch of other samples I wanted. I wasn't expecting to like this...but I do...very much. The sample I used probably wasn't enough...I need to test more...but I don't get a "girlie" fragrance here like the accords on this Fragrantica page implies...on my skin, it's not overly fruity or sweet at all. If a woman would wear this, I could picture it suiting the "femme fatale" type. Otherwise, I think this suits men also. It's a dark & mysterious rose...not an overly thick or jammy one. It feels freshened up by the red-wine or berries aroma (i.e. "raspberry" note) + slight spiciness from the pepper. There is much more going on but I couldn't quite clearly identify the different parts with the little sample I had...I can only say with certainty that you don't have to worry about performance - with every breath I took, I could smell it...and it was this way for at least 8 hours. I ordered a sample of Danae thinking I'd like it a lot...but it turns out I like Adonis Awakens a lot more.

As a man who turned in my man card, this smells masculine. The opening smelled a little bit like urinal cake, but the drydown was great. I expected this to not be vanilla overload, as vanilla is in here a heart/middle note, and am glad that that appears to be true, because this is super wearable in warm weather. In almost all cases, adding any amount of vanilla into a fragrance turns it into a vanilla fragrance. Be that as it may, that's not true for this fragrance. This fragrance is a masculine rose fragrance through and through. I can't imagine a woman wearing this, but I can imagine a gay man wearing it. Scent: 8/10 Season and time of day: Spring and autumn days (3-4 sprays), as well as summer days (2 sprays). Works in the nighttime too, but I typically wear it during daytime. Gender: Masculine Longevity: Long-lasting (7 hrs with 3 sprays) Sillage: Moderate (2 secs scent trail and detectable from 1.5 feet away) Price value: Good value (uses very expensive raw materials, but underdelivers in terms of projection)

Possibly the single best rose scent I've ever smelled. A true unisex. Beautiful, candied & sweet rose without being overly jammy (see: Oud Satin Mood being rather vanillic and gourmand, Moschino Toy Boy's intense jamminess) and somehow still capturing the ethereal, airy vibe of classical floral roses like Bulgari's Rose Goldea. Maybe an extremely high quality, more ethereal and sublime Rose Esentielle, perhaps even most similar to Amouage's Homage attar but without the musty dryness and overwhelming power? This is perfect and I'm so glad I sampled this with my order of Triumph of Bacchus. I'll be getting at least 30ml of this too, and including a sample of Danaë in that one... If the cycle then continues further, I'll consider Argos a truly special house and among my present-day favorites. Truly exceptional work. Stunning, extremely pleasant, and approachable without sacrificing even the tiniest amount character. 10/10.

The story behind this perfume is the greek god Adonis (the god of beauty and desire) died in a fight against the romans, and Aphrodite (goddess of love) came to help him but cut herself on a rose, bush turning all roses red (naturally being white). She kisses him and he wakes up, making this fragrance represent love and affection. You really do get that in the fragrance, it smells like Aphrodite just wrapped Adonis in a clean linen sheet and sprinkled him in rose petals (floral and not jammy.) You get a slight grassy aspect too - the bottle design of the perfume very accurately representing the smell. It’s bright, very clean, and gives you a super alluring and vitalizing aura. Don’t smell too up close tho it kinda gets funky. Enjoy how it diffuses off your skin. Its performance is amazing!!

My first impression of the house of Argos. Adonis Awakens is a rose centric fragrance that is truly unisex. It opens up with clean citrus that comes with some floral in the back. It dries down to a really nice rose that smells like a clean bedsheet filled with rose petals. I do get the impression of "Women soap" smell from this, but in a good way. The projection is insane, you'd fill the room with just a few spray with this. The longevity is also really impressive. It lasts around 15-24 hours on my skin. It stayed on me even after taking a shower. I don't really know how to explain Adonis Awakens to actually do it justice, you just have to try it yourself.

This is Raspberry, rose, pink pepper, with a bit of vanilla mixed in the drydown That's what I get at least. That combo makes it smell like an amazing fresh, clean, raspberry dryer sheet type of smell. This is one where when you sit down someone might mistake for the laundry detergent you used on your clothes. However, they will be thinking "damn that person's detergent smells amazing", but they won't have a clue what it might be bc it's gonna be something they have never smelled before in the dept store! Performance is excellent!!!

Decent performance 6-7hrs complete 4-5 before becoming a skin scent. Stays close doesn’t leave much of a trail.Great option for spring and summer dates nights, great climate control office fragrance. Good signature scent. Not ideal for extreme heat or cold. The rose/raspberry/leathery combo is familiar, but blended so beautifully I’ve yet to smell an exact match.

Recently got a sample of this along side with my order. Definitely feminine leaning but a man can pull this off easily. opening is very rosey and fruity like and kind of smells like a nice air refreshener (in a good way). The dry down is much nicer as the rose remains with a little hint of sweet vanilla. It kinda smells like a clean fresh bed sheet that dried out on the washing line with a sweet raspberry/rosey scent. Will for sure buy a full bottle of this next summer. 9/10 Edit: bought a full bottle already ;)

I had to do another review on this mf here. I swear this is worth every penny they charge. I have TOB and I wish I didn’t😩.For the prices they charge you want something unique & this is it. I don’t wear rose oud fragrances. But they left the oud out and added this freshness in the opening that is crazy good. Later it fades to the back behind the rose but it’s still there singing background. This is an obvious head turner And projection is nuclear. This is a forever bottle for me. This is what 10/10 smells like.

You have to love this profile in order to love this fragrance. The brightness, rose, and raspberry vanilla woodiness make this fragrance perfect, but only if you love these types of notes. However, if you love these notes get this and thank me later. So so good though, so good. I only collect fragrances that I love with a passion and this is definitely one. A beautiful scent for men or women. Like the one dude said if you currently have narcissism, don't get this. Makes you feel powerful and radiant. 9.5/10

DO NOT purchase this is you are currently self battling with narcissism. Once this beautiful, sweet and fruity rose hits your skin you will relapse. Every time I put this on I feel like a brand new man. It’s such a bright scent that from opening to dry down pleases in every way. Excellent projection and sillage, this lasts well over 8 hours on my skin. Perfect for warm weather (today was 83 and partly cloudy) or on cooler days, Adonis Awakens has cemented its spot in my 5 favorite in my collection.

Adonis Awakens immediately gives off a warm fruity scents with heavy floral undertones. The warm nature is thanks to its woody base and just keeps me wanting to smell it more. It’s not as overbearing as other fruity Argos scents which is a major plus to me. This is a scent I’d wear during the end of winter through the months of spring. Highly recommend if you enjoy fruity-floral with a warmer finish. I’m just not sure the longevity is there if you wear it in a scent-heavy environment. 4.2/5

my signature. amazing rose fragrance. best thing i’ve laid my nose on no doubt, not feminine by any means but not masculine by any standard either. it just smells beautiful... sweet sugary rose with a great cashmeran vibe incorporated throughout. absurd performance, i spray this like 5 times (pressurized so its a lot) and am wafting it about 10 hours later without any issue. buy this if you’re into florals but if you hate florals, even remotely, don’t even think about it at all. 9.78/10

I am typically not a fan of rose scents as I always feel like they lean TOO feminine but this one is just right. House of Argos has done it again, a fragrance that is appealing (not for the masses), smells amazing, and that beautiful presentation. This is mature (30+), leans masculine but definitely a unisex scent, can be used all year round and I believe a fantastic date night scent. If you're a fan of rose/fruit but don't want something that leans feminine, this is it.

This stuff is amazing and I don't even like rose frags like that. ARGOS has a different take on rose. It's airy with the most pleasant rasberry/vanilla/rose combo there is! The way this thing lingers in the air is just beautiful! Performance is very good on my skin. Imo it would work best during the spring/summer on a date night! Between this, TOB, and Danae Argos is doing their thing!

This is the best rose scent ever. If as a Man U don’t do rose bc it’s feminine. Try this. They put the fresh notes with the rose that makes it hard to beat. It’s Danae mixed with love triumphs over war. 9/10 This is the best in the Argos line imo. It’s full bottle worthy. Figured it out!!! It’s fresh dryer sheets with rose in the best way possible.

This is unique nothing quite like this that iv smelt. I had triumph of bacchus but sold it cos it was too similar to red tobacco/carlisle and not worth the money imho. This is 100% full bottle worthy. Smells like fresh sheets thats have been washed in a rose and rasberry soap then left to dry on warm spring day. Beautiful.

The best fragrance I have ever smelled out of like 90 samples, makes me want to take the cap off and drink it! Genuinely probably the best thing any perfumer has ever made. I will be glazing this until the day I die A legit 10/10 Beautiful gourmand raspberries and incredibly sensual rose. Too feminine for me tho :(

My favorite from the house after neptunes trident. Wearing this makes you feel like the cleanest person in the room. Fruity fresh and clean with a very nice rose scent carrying it. Perfect for daily wear, office and late night netflix and chill. Im getting great longevity and above moderate sillage Overall 9/10

This scent is very strong and beautiful. It’s oil based so you only need about 3-4 sprays . Last a long time . It’s similar to Bond No 9 NoMad but Adonis has a more masculine , oil skin type touch to it . Still is a unisex scent. I’ll definitely grab a bottle of this . Rating: 8.9/10

This fragrance came as a sample when I grabbed a bottle of TOB and man this stuff is good! I don’t usually aim for anything with rose in it since I think it leans too feminine for me but I think this is perfectly unisex and has the potential to boom off the skin in the summer!

While wearing AA I was told I smell like soap and was asked what brand of soap I use. I thought AA was a little more complex than that but I guess not. Spicy citrus blast in the beginning then dries down to subtle fruit but a lot of rose. Don’t buy if you’re not a fan of rose.

When I first tried this i was kinda let down feeling it was just a bit basic and reminded me of dryer sheets... but after a few days of wearing it started to grow on me a decent amount and made me realize how unique it truly is. I think i pick up the raspberry the most

The dry down reminds me of Oud Maknoon from Swiss Arabian. Sweet fruity vanilla rose that is unisex and may be best for formal occasions. I would say its scent profile is not common if that’s a plus. Gorgeously masculine frag 👍 9.5/10 🙌

Its a sweet candy like rose, vanilla and raspberry and it has a slight soapy vibe. Its good and gets even better with the drydown. I rate it 8.5/10. It is unisex but a guy could definitely pull it off. Edit: Its grown on me even more

Currently my favorite fragrance from the house of Argos. This parfum constantly hits you with its depth in levels of notes. Very welcoming while holding your interest in its complexity. Amazing scent, signature scent worthy for sure!

I really don’t know why this gets a lotta hate It’s definitely top ten In my book & I’m not a fly by nighter I do this It can be unisex but leans more masculine to me and You will definitely get compliments

This is amazing. My first Argos fragrance. Blind buy. Smells extremely good. Rose but not feminine rose, smells like the perfect everyday fragrance. Very happy. Got it for around 210€ in Denmark!

Amazing perfume. Legit the best summer/spring scent I've ever smelt by far. If I could own 3 fragrances, This is would be my first option. Unisex, Long lasting, and great sillage! 11/10.

the best rose out there right now, in my own opinion. i have some time with it, and it performs like a beast and has a sugar like rose that does not lean to heavy to one side.

This is pretty great. Smells similar to wine or dark fruits. I wouldn't say it's as "out of the shower" as everyone praises it to be. Good for nights out or dinner dates.

So, so good One of the best roses on the market, almost a candy like feeling but very airy, absolutely fantastic Top 2 from Argos eaisly, you gotta try this 9/10

This is probably my second favorite scent from Argos right behind Neptunes Trident. The rose is beautiful, and the sweet fruity notes surrounding it are amazing.

This smells good at first but then gets boring. This brand is over hyped and the bottles suck. They are cheaply made please do not blind buy from this brand

Such a masterpiece, raspberry and rose, with a freshly sharpened pencil smell in the background. Only problem is that it can be a bit hard to pull off imo.

Gorgeous, citrusy scent with a nice floral undertone. Projects well and has decent longevity. I really really like this one and it'd be great for summer.

This is a very different scent I've had tried, its so interesting the pink pepper is amazing. This will definitely be my signature scent for summer 2025.

I agree with lostscent that a guy can totally pull it off. On me the floral is more subdue and i get a lot of musk and very smooth amber

Beautiful next level niche fragrance IMO. I love the longevity and projection. Defo my signature scent.

As a guy this is the first floral fragrance I felt I Could wear its rose with fresh qualities.

Unique men’s summer scent, big fan

Sweet, juicy and thick candied rose fragrance that smells so good. It’s one of those fragrances where the words “scent bubble” really applies because yes it projects, but it doesn’t reach out and pull away from your skin, it creates a cloud around you, and you get whiffs of your own scent bubble constantly for hours and hours with this. Every time a little bit of the cloud caught my attention I quietly said “damn!” to myself, because I smelled so good. And that was only from spraying the sides of my neck two times each with the official sample. Now that I have a bottle I can only imagine what the projection and sillage will be. In terms of longevity I got well over 8 hours, and legitimately got nearly 5 if not 6 hours of projection, starting with “strong” and then becoming “moderate” around the 5th or 6th hour, but still way more than a skin scent. This is maybe only my 2nd or 3rd fragrance that has given me that “lingering” projection or sillage that you rarely hear about - this isn’t a fragrance that people will smell before they see you, but it’s a fragrance that hangs in the air and lingers after you’ve left. My favourite kind of sillage. I think it’s got to do with that cloud effect and how thick but light it is - you get in a space, the cloud forms around you, and you leave but the cloud stays a while. Perfect. Lastly, for seasons and occasions etc., this probably works best in 2 ways: Day or night in the spring/fall, but also night in any and every season. It smells luxurious and rich, and you feel that way wearing it. Presentation, bottle design, packaging - 10/10, but it’s not just great packaging, the scent itself is as opulent as the presentation.
