Argos Pour Homme

This smells designer-esque in comparison to Argos' other fragrances, but not in a bad way. I've heard many people compare this to green irish tweed, and I don't get that AT ALL. Either your skin chemistry is broken, or your nose is. And for those who sh!t on this fragrance for smelling designer-esque, y'all are mongs, because y'all immediately associate "designer" with "cheap and generic." Although I will admit that this smells generic, it clearly doesn't smell cheap at all, because y'all can't seem to comprehend that no designer fragrance would have this many naturals in it. Anyways, it smells to me on my skin like a hybrid between acqua di gio profumo and bleu de chanel parfum (but it definitely doesn't smell like a clone). For a summer fragrance, it's surprisingly long-lasting on my skin. I have heavier skin chemistry, so that's quite surprising, considering the fact that this is a citrus-heavy fragrance. But that's because this cologne is thankfully base heavy. Although not listed in the note pyramid, the incense and leather in this cologne are amped up on my skin thanks to my heavy skin chemistry. Scent: 9/10 Season and time of day: Summer and spring days Gender: Masculine Longevity: Surprisingly long-lasting (7 hrs with 4 sprays) Sillage: Moderate (Projects at a length of 1.5 feet) Price value: Overpriced (smells designer but with expensive raw materials; unoriginal but not a clone of anything, especially not of green irish tweed)

Awesome woody aromatic fresh fragrance and would be a good signature scent for a man. Works well in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. The opening is sharp, fresh, and green. I wouldn't say it's a citrus medley on my skin. It's more the gin, lime, and pine notes that shine in the opening. The lemon and orange add a light sweetness to my skin. Projection is moderate. A foot of projection but the longevity is 10+ hours which is fantastic for a fresh fragrance. It's a light fragrance, with a gentle but noticeable scent trail. Nothing intrusive or brash about the scent. The Pour Homme (and perhaps the Pour Femme too) from Argos I feel is overlooked because the house has had a number of releases, and a few that Fragrantica hasn't listed. You've got Brivido Della Caccia, Bacio Immortale, Triumph of Bacchus, DANAË, Pallas Athene, and Adonis Awakens. So, it's not surprising the Pour Homme isn't in the limelight as other releases are either simply better and more interesting fragrances. But, I can't deny it's a lovely fresh fragrance for the warmer weather and I am happy to be purchasing a bottle in the near future when I get paid. :) 8/10

Interesting fragrance, don't know if it's worth the price tag but it's nice. It's like a mix of cool water (not GIT) and ADG. It projects well off of the skin, and I think would be best for spring season. The reminds me of section is nuts lol. Edit: It's really grown on me, that violet note is really nice.

An exceptional fragrance that is fresh and lasts. Very natural smelling. Does not smell like Green Irish Tweed. It smells like no other fragrance that I'm aware of, but is in the vein of Creed Royal Water or Chanel Egoiste Platinum

Respectfully I disagree with the negative reviews. This is a very clean and nice everyday wear. It is a safe blind buy. I highly recommend this if you like a safe fresh scent that will project and last.

While I'm not a frequent gin drinker, this note smells exceedingly realistic, capturing the essence of the spirit perfectly. Backing up the gin is a bright, tart, and zesty lemon note, which blends seamlessly with the gin to immediately create the impression of a classic mixed drink. Next, the lime and pine tree emerge. The tart and slightly verdant lime pairs beautifully with the lemon to further underscore the "mixed drink" accord. However, if you genuinely enjoy sophisticated, classic men's aromatic fragrances, this is definitely worth sampling before committing. Cost-benefit in this is amazing. Scent profile is easy going, nothing that excites most of us and still nothing in my collection smelled like it, until I got myself a bottle of Pour Homme. Knowing Argos is likely my favorite house, there could be some bias here. Still, this is probably one of the most versatile, mass appealing, and masculine in their lineup as well as entry level niche. To me, smells somewhat metallic/sharp in the opening, bottle is very fitting with the chrome detailing. Now, the resemblance do Gentle Fluidity Silver is the closest I've come to it. GFS is probably a bit more alive on skin and they aren't the same smell of course, but in that tart sharpness, clean profile these walk similar paths for their brands (even though MFK has many more fresh offerings). Do not get the comparison to GIT, but again similar paths are being trailed here. I wished for a brighter, more citrusy opening, which is very fleeting here. Violets dominate the middle for sure. It is not a very nuanced fragrance, but they definitely created a great versatile fragrance for men here. Smells modern, though keeping typical masculine fragrance traits, and performance is okay for me ~6h. Pricing at retail is not worth it for me, but this is quality in every aspect - ingredients, craftsmanship, and presentation both bottle and packaging - since I paid right around $90 for 100ml. Hoping Argos can bring more freshies to their lineup. Sounds like Neptune's Trident is the next up for me to grab/test.

Right off the bat, orange, lime and pine mix pretty well together. It's a pleasant smell but without being too far into any camp, so it smells sort of like a generic men's fragrance that you'll have smelled in any given locker room, but a lot less sharp because of the lavender, which is to say, a ton better. I'm not getting any gin, so don't go into this expecting to smell similar to other gin-esque fragrances. I initially thought it was going to be similar to Terre D'Hermes Eau Givree, but it's very far from. At most, I get a very light breeze of herbs and spices like rosemary and juniper, maybe light sage. It adds another great addition to what initially comes off as a generic locker-room fragrance. Towards the end, it's a mild mix of violets and vetiver, not very strong, more on the vetiver side. pleasant, clean, definitely masculine leaning, citrus/herbs/mild florals (lavender/violet). office-safe.

Okay so in the interest of full disclosure I went into this sampling with trepidation and conscious bias against Argos as a brand for reasons too long and pointless to go into but let's just say my hopes were not high and I did relish the idea of slating these perfumes in the public forum that is Fragrantica. However, In Argos Pour Homme I was greeted by quite a likable designer masculine vibe with a sort of niche/indy sensibility and certain clunkiness of materials which I found quite pleasant and even...almost endearing. Yeah I know. I'm as shocked as you are. To me the opening was a nice bergamot and gin fizz sparkle which gives way to a mild lavender and violet, and is all quite fun and such if a bit heavy handed. Then the drydown resembles a sort of Paco Rabanne XS/ Creed Himalya type thing a sort of sage, white floral induced, creamy barber base. I really quite liked it.

Argos Pour Homme is very easy to like. It's fresh, slightly off the beaten path, and performs well for a freshie. Hints of citrus mixed with lavender provided freshness, and a wix of woods with vetiver foster a dry down with some more weight, the veitver specifically being a bit of a standout. It's agreeable, decently long-lasting, and it progresses nicely from a fresh opening to more of a woody/earthy dry down with the vetiver. The bottle price point ($175 for 100ml on the Argos website) is a bit higher than what I'd expect for this as, while it's a nuanced take on the generic idea of a masculine freshie, it's not so progocative or unique to make it stand out to me in a special way. Still, it's easy to wear and it's something I could wear year-round. Certainly I recommend that men especially try it out as it could be a signature scent. 7 out of 10

When I smell this is the air, I get an aquatic vibe that equally woodsy and smoky. It’s high in quality, and in depth. When I went running, I noticed the citruses popping a lot off of my skin, but not nearly as much as when I’m still. I think that’s a great performing feature if you’re into exercise. There’s a mossy, or forestry feeling that hides in the background in the beginning of the wear which is pretty awesome. Being that I’m not a drinker, I never would’ve guessed that this is a Gin fragrance. There’s not really an icy or cold freshness to this, but more of a damp freshness. So I cannot help in terms of that. In general however, I believe this is a great fragrance.

A freshie with sour gin and violets - somewhat generic. Doesn't all quite mesh well together, though it gets close. Way too expensive for what it is. Probably the worst from the House of Argos, especially when the vetiver and aquatic (almost ambroxan?) smell comes through and takes what initially smelled high quality and cheapens it up just a bit. It is an agreeable scent though, all things considered. 7/10

This is a lovely scent that reminds me of green moss and fertile fields embossed with plants and trees and violet and lavender potted plants gracing a road way, all around, there is a small undistinguished accord of Patchouli dipped in a Gin cocktail creeping in with - herbal notes of well balanced foliage. It's great for nice summer days, Earthy - balmy- aromatic - fresh

This does come across as a designer version of Creed's Royal Water: sweeter, woodier, more likeable. If this sounds attractive to you, get your nose on this thing. Nothing groundbreaking or unique but a well-done upper tier designer quality and scent profile. Good performance, can be a little cloying, so I wouldn't overspray.

It's good, definitely not ground breaking but safe for really any occasion. Gives me the same feeling as when I wear Green Irish Tweed , clean, soapy, green, little citrus. Not as iconic or recognizable as GIT, so if you want something similar but you're feeling like a bit of a niche snob, it's a great scent.

Does anyone else think this smells like Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch? Anyone? like 75% of the notes are the same. I wish we had Fierce to compare. Me and my partner really like it.... but I'm worried it's a WAY over priced Fierce.

I really enjoyed my Argos Pour Homme decant- so I bought a full bottle. But did I really need it? No, I actually regret the purchase. The opening is fresh and woody. But when it dries down, all I get is mature, woody vegetal scent. It smells like a garden filled with celery, clary sage (I really don't know what clary sage specifically smells like, but I'm just trying to paint a picture here), and other plant life. I would like this a lot more if the citrus notes were more pronounced. I have a full bottle now that I wouldn't mind selling or decanting for cheap.
