The fragrance became a true skin scent around the 10-12 hour mark. When to Wear: Danaë is an extremely versatile fragrance—the most adaptable Argos creation I have experienced to date. Casual, formal, or special events, the scent is appropriate, and, unlike many of the house’s heavier offerings, Danaë would feel entirely appropriate for the office as well. Blind Buy: Like my experience with Adonis Awakens, nothing in my personal collection immediately comes to mind when I wear this. However, for those specifically drawn to opulent, high-quality sweet and woody fragrances, I would consider Danaë a safe blind buy. Final Verdict: Overall, I would consider Danaë a resounding success, capturing the promised gilded divinity of its mythological inspiration with a refined, opulent execution. After the polarizing experience of Adonis Awakens, this fragrance restores my faith in Argos's flagship unisex offerings. The composition is a masterful blend of rich woods, where the creamy sweetness of Mysore Sandalwood and the warm, velvety texture of Cashmere Wood dominate the dry down, expertly counterbalancing the bright, zesty Sicilian Lemon opening. This results in a truly luxurious and sophisticated profile that avoids the heavy density of the house's cold-weather offerings. Agree with the reviewer down below, this is the best scent Argos has. I am an owner and huge fan of Triumph of Bacchus, and have sampled a handful more of their creations, but Christian really knocked this one out of the park. For anyone on the fence about Argos, one thing you need to know is that these fragrances are 100% intended to be enjoyed in the drydown. I see a lot of comparisons to "medicinal cough syrup" for Bacchus, and trust me, I get it. However, what Christian does is masterful, and something they don't actively advertise - he puts an overdose of the top notes in the fragrance so that when it dries down, the top notes actually remain throughout the life of it. So, you're naturally going to get a massively overpowering opening that can sometimes be sickly sweet. Just be patient. Most fragrances are designed to appeal to mass market and to be sold at the retail level, so they need to be perfectly balanced, right at the opening. Someone who is browsing fragrances at Neiman is going to give a single whiff of something and make a decision right then and there if they like or dislike it. An unfortunate side effect of this buying pattern is that most of the top notes tend to fade quickly, leaving only the heavier bases. This causes people to complain about longevity, etc. Christian Petrovich, by some chemistry wizardry of overdosing the opening, makes these notes bind more to the base and become a gorgeous, persistent, and lingering symphony that disallows the base notes from stealing the show. If you sample Argos, I highly recommend spraying 2-3 sprays minimum, and don't get too close until about the 5 minute mark. The magic is truly in the drydown. This is a creamy, slightly musky, bright citrus and peppery sandalwood that turns into a decadent smoky guiac and cashmere wood after about 30 minutes. A true masterpiece, and honestly my single favorite fragrance I own.

The most versatile of the Argos, in my opinion, second to only Pour Homme (in the more masculine options). Nothing I have smelled before in other fragrances, with rather similar approach to how Fall of Phaeton (FOP) smelled on me, still holding distinct applications and frag development. Beautiful wearing experience usually right around 10-11 hours on my skin with moderate projection but great sillage. Wears professional more than casual, and is not a challenging profile to be around, with a bit of uniqueness. Kind of blue but not because of the aromatics or citrus, simply because of how it wears and it being super versatile, while FOP is the more nighttime appropriate of the two - still, not redundant to own both, which I do. Bright and fresh opening with a bit of this sweet pepper lift, accompanied by the already prominent cashmere, florals, and musk make it a rather linear fragrance. As it develops, the cedar (this kind of sweet woody tone) takes more body and stays there with the base notes I've mentioned for the whole life of the fragrance. On my skin it turns powdery for a good while, but up in the air fresher and woodier. A man's fragrance, as I don't see it being super jovial. Easy wear, easy grab, just likely one I would avoid in the summer because of the construction but not one to pass on for the heat in general. This is a beautiful spring and fall fragrance for all-year wear. Definitely could be someone's signature.

Ordered the sample pack from this house as a christmas gift for myself. And WOW, what a house! I'm pretty new in the game for niche fragrances but I have been able to try out alot the past 8 months. And I can be honest to say that this has been the best house so far. (Will still try more of the other houses I'm curious about though) I really like TOB and Adonis Awakens, but I should say this is my favourite from the house. There's just something about it. An absolute stellar fragrance. This starts up with a good blast of the citruses, and become woody really fast. But what a wood! So divine, so elegant and so clean. I get at least 8-10 hours longevity on my skin and the sillage is good for about 2-3 hours then it gets closer to the skin. On clothes you can easily smell this a few days later. I think you can use this all year round, day and night. Don't know about real heat though but will try it this summer. I'm on my journey to find myself a good signature scent and I think this might be the one because I think this is my favourite fragrance I've smelled so far. The only thing I'm hesitant about is that it smells a bit too exquisite to my nose. (I'm not the one always dressing "exquisite") The other two thats closest to a buy for a signature is Tahmeen Carved Oud and Initio Rehab which I really like also! I'm gonna copy this one day, TOB and Adonis also. But my wallet will hurt, in the end, I think it's worth it.

This is like if initios side effect had a baby with chanel allure homme blanche or the normal allure with added bergsmot. It is a beautiful scent tough.. love at first sniff. I love sweet tobacco scents or profiles like Carlisle etc. This in the opening brought me to something I recognized but couldn't pick my finger on it.. blast of sweet citrusses and a sandalwood strong Base.. and after that it became more and more soft but still strong in projection! There are hint if floral, patchouli during the mid, and vanilla or tobacco? It's not listed but like I said it really reminded me of side effect during that time. A warm very sweet warm chanel allure as well.. but again coming back to the perfume, during the mid patchouli is there not a dirty but a clean one like in stth from kilian. In its drydown after 4 hours you can smell a beautiful sweet woody base. There is no sweetness listed but it's there but very soft and perfectly dosed.. its with more argos perfumes beautiful airy blended. The drydown goes very long 10+ hours and stays sweet but becomes more woody during the hours.. and that's pretty it. Sweet lemony woodsy airy perfume in a nutshell, perfect blended and amazing performance. Regret I bought a 30ML.. 9/10. The citrus part could stay longer for me although it's not easy as the build of the fragrance isn't like that..

Might be my favorite Argos from the ones I've tried so far. Danaë is a gorgeous scent, blending woods with slight citruses and powderiness excellently. Usually when I like a fragrance a lot I don't really pay much attention to it and just enjoy it, so I'll leave my description of the scent profile at that. Danaë reminds me of something my grandfather used to wear when I was a kid, not sure if another fragrance or a deodorant, so this association makes me think of this as a masculine scent, even though it's more so a unisex one. This isn't to say it's an outdated scent profile, just that it reminds me of something else I've smelled before that's in a similar vein. Also something about Danaë reminds me of both Hard Candy Elixir and Notorious from Aaron Terence Hughes, but I'm not sure what. My birthday is in a few days and I'm definitely going to get a bottle of this then. Performance isn't the greatest but it's decent overall. Projection is moderate with a light to moderate sillage. To be fair I spent a lot of time at places with air con or fans blowing in my direction so that played into how I perceived the sillage to be. Longevity was great, however, reaching 8 hours on skin with ease.

It's actually insane that this fragrance has not blown up and even surpassed Triumph of bacchus by the masses. Don't get me wrong, since it hasn't, you can guarantee that you'll be the only one in the room or building that smells like it and that's phenomenal nowadays to have something so amazing all to yourself not hyped on TikTok. This scent instantly broke my neck lol, I sprayed it and did a double take looking at the Tester strip in disbelief. Initially bought TOB and this was a sample I chose, after I sprayed it on my skin to see if it could pass the test, and boy did it, bought a 100ml bottle with a smile on my face. This thing pushes off my skin for hrs, from the bright opening all the way to it's irresistible dry down and as you pick up whiffs, it makes you feel good knowing that you are wearing something truly special that you know people around you wish they knew what it is and who is wearing it so they can ask what it is. Just buy it, stop reading reviews to convince yourself past this one lol.

I’ve sampled the entire Argos line, of which Triumph of Bacchus was the obvious standout. However, there were many other notable scents, like Danaë. I wouldn’t have paid full price for it (it’s just out of my range), but when I saw it substantially discounted on Fragrancenet, I immediately snatched it up along with Argos Pour Femme. Danaë's presentation is obviously exquisite. The bottle’s quality is irrefutable. Fortunately, the deep-colored fragrance is also beautiful. I have a hard time picking up individual notes as they lose individual distinction in the blend. However, the woody patchouli accords are incredibly smooth with brighter faucets thanks to a squeeze of citrus and pinch of pink pepper. To me, it conveys elegance, comfort, and contentment. Danaë, like Argos fragrances in general, is approachable and inoffensive. It’s unique without being avant-garde. Clearly, a lot of effort goes into making this line visually exquisite; I’m happy that effort went into the scent, too.

I've been waiting too long for Danaë to finally show up on here. One of my favorite fragrances ever, definitely have to get another bottle. If I could sum it up concisely, Danaë is a warm hug in a bottle. The opening is nice and bright (perhaps a bit sharp) , reminds me of Xerjoff Uden. Then once the dry down hits, it's pure bliss. The cashmere wood-guiac wood-cedar combo is so divine here; it just feels like it wraps around you tightly and tells you everything will be alright. Then the rest of the notes come into play, chiefly the musk, sandalwood, and patchouli. Overall it just smells so good, especially on clothes. I love to spray it on a hoodie and smelling it a few days later when it's still prevalent. It creates a nice bubble of projection, and it lasts all day also. The only critique I really have is that the opening could come off like bathroom cleaner, but thankfully that's short lived. Easily one of the better releases of the year. 9.5/10

One of the first Argos out of the sample set I tried and was floored with. The elegance of this scent and the profile is directly my style. It’s earthy and sweet but not sickly. And the reason why I’m selling a bunch of my designers. Longevity is amazing too, the atomizer awesome pressurized. The bottle design, beautiful. This is easily one of my 3 favorite scents now and had to buy a bottle. A lot of the Argos scents have a similar “dna” Danae and Fall of Phaeton share similarities but not the same imho. So far I have a 100ml of Danae, Triumph of Bacchus, Baccio Imortale and now Fall of Phatoen. Even tho Brivado Della Caccia doesn’t get the love I think it deserves, I might buy a bottle of that too it’s a beautiful iris leather scent. The sample I got is almost gone. My advice. Get the Sample pack of Argos from Olfactory. $65. You’ll not regret it. Longevity, Artistry and scent profile are truly nice imo. 9.5/10 for Danae

I owned Triumph previously, and had to sell it because I found it extremely feminine and cloying to the point where I referred to it as cavity inducing. While Danae is also very sweet, and it seems like that's the Argos MO as a house, it isn't quite the extreme that Triumph was. In fact I totally love this scent. I know the fruit notes include citrus, but I get more of a generic fruit sweetness from it, reminding me of apple than anything else. The musk and Cashmere lend their typical fuzziness to the overall body, and warm woods and spices make up the rest, for a deep, thick, rich experience. I would wear this in fall, winter mostly; maybe on a spring or summer evening but definitely wouldn't overdo it. Awesome fragrance and I'm glad I gave this house another chance!

This is very very heavy on the musks. It’s naturally sweet and smells like very high quality ingredients was used to make this. It’s so refined and so damn beautiful. This smells like you but a little baby powder on a body builder that just finished working out and he has a sweet smell of like gummy worms without the sugar on top. Lol stupid right I’m sorry that’s how my brain processes this scent now understand when people say “panty dropper” or “sexy” fragrance because this thing smells SO SEXY. I truly feel like I need to where this when I’m dressed up. A manly man that has his shit together 11/10 8h longevity with decent projection but thick sillage due to the heavy musks used in this scent.🤌🏽🤌🏽

Wow this is amazing, love at first smell and immediate buy. Mature (30+), masculine leaning, sophisticated, and delicious. As others have said, it has a "citrusy"/bright opening but really dries down to a CREAMY vanilla (mmmm), woodsy scent. I agree with @Agatsya that it does really remind me of Carlisle but better. It's not offensive and I believe would be a fantastic office scent. I believe it could be worn all year round as well, except for tropical environments where it is very humid, it may be too cloying. This is definitely one of my favorites of all time and the house of Argos is officially my favorite house of all time.

Such a stunner! Unisex, leaning maybe slightly masculine, but would smell incredible on anyone. Sun-drenched bergamot & lemon opening that settles into a truly creamy, melange of gorgeous woods, with pink pepper adding a kick. I don't get the spearmint note, at all, that others have mentioned, but of course it's going to play out differently according to your skin chemistry. Argos has quickly become a favorite house with their memorable and expertly blended parfums.

The opening is somewhat reminiscent of Bleu de Chanel parfum because of the choice of aromatic notes, sandalwood, and citruses. Be that as it may, I wouldn't say that their DNA is the same, especially in the drydown, because the drydown is more similar to Carlisle by Parfums de Marly. I wanna mention that the drydown is very heavy on the patchouli (at least on my skin). I wish the musks would be stronger though (but that might just be a skin chemistry issue)

This was the most interesting perfume based on it's descriptions that I wanted to try, and I finally got a sample. It's absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of so many things, saunas in the winter after skiing, the esoteric shop just down the street from my dad's place, the way I imagined ancient rituals smelling like as a child. It's truly woody, though I can't differentiate between the individual notes.

My favorite from the Argos line. Synthetic but goes away after drying down. I could see wearing this when it’s sunny outside but still chilly. Not super masculine, bordering unisex. I'm surprised to not see Carlisle, red tobacco, or triumph of baccus in "reminds me of." Danae has that DNA going in it but surrounded by much lighter and creamier notes. The cashmere makes this cloying at times.

Argos is excellent as a whole, but this particular scent is the best they have. It is an incredible, smooth and soft woody scent. I do get a lot of cashmere. But it's the supporting notes that make this special. It forms a beautiful, soft and smooth scent that is calming - yet makes me know I smell sophisticated and elegant. Good for a daily wear in any season. Pretty good performance, too.

Primarily a luxurious creamy wood scent, but with a bit of kick added by the pink pepper and sicilian lemon. This is up there with Triump of Bacchus as my favorite from this house, and definitely something more suited for springtime or any temperate climate. Great stuff for a guy or a gal who is looking for an approachable and amiable, but nevertheless opulent fragrance. 9/10

Sampling this currently, it is a nice sweet creamy woody fragrance. Definitly unisex however I will say this leans more masculine. It perfect for those cooler evenings in the summer and definitly a perfect scent for either spring or fall. Its been 3 days test this and honestly the performance is very good, last a good 10 hrs on skin and project for 4 hour.
