Perseus Triumphant

Light Oud rose scent. It’s very pleasant and a toned down version of Ombré Nomad. I love this one.

Opens up with a strong animalic musky oud. Dries down beautifully! It caresses you with a velvetty buttery biker leather jacket while the roses hug you. The cardamom carefully dance in the background to create a sensual cloud. The oud calms down after 30min - 1 hour to a laid back oud that morphs with the leather and rose beautifully. Great night time - date night or special occassion - fragrance. Day time might be too polarizing, but can be done when cold out. Not for everyone. 8.3/10

Wanted to give it a try even though I don't think I'm into rose oud fragrances from past experiences. I find this more palatable than Nebulous from Boadicea the Victorious, and actually enjoyable. Still not what I see myself wearing, but it seems worthy of a good rating.

Warm, leathery rose with a chic, refined character. It’s undeniably pleasant, but the more I smell it, the more I pick up an almost latex-rubbery nuance that reminds me of Midas Touch. This feels like a toned-down, smoother interpretation of that DNA. It’s suited for a well-dressed night out, but when stacked against other leather/oud-rose fragrances, I’m not convinced I’d consistently reach for Perseus Triumphant. I think the combination of cardamom and the watery-dry rose accord Argos uses creates a nice sense of warmth and depth. However, blending that with bergamot - something they also do in Midas Touch - introduces a sharpness that renders this slightly plasticky. The sweetness clashes with the sharp citrus, and that contrast feels a bit jarring. Overall, the fragrance feels incomplete to me. It needs something to round it out -perhaps a soft, sweet fruit like pear, brighter florals such as neroli, or added depth within the citrus itself. This brings Ombre Nomade to mind, albeit in a more approachable, subdued way.

Harsh amberwoods right from the start, no development, fades quickly (no regrets). The correct price should be at least 20 times less. Shame.
