Vulcan's Revenge

The final Argos fragrance to be released for 2025. I will say this one starts off better than the midas touch and perseus's triumph in my opinion. This one opens with a sweet, powdery and very musky profile. I won't try to go full bore here as my nose isn't nearly trained enough to name every note I smell. The opening is a musky sweet amalgamation of things, but to me mainly the cashmere stands out. On the dry down it maintains thes slightly sweet musky profile but with the pepper coming in more now. I get very good longevity on this, around 12hrs until its completely gone. It projects very strongly for the first 2-3 hours in before dying down. This is an extrait so the very powerful performance is to be expected, especially with its warm scent profile. Vulcans Revenge is definitely a unique scent out of Argo's line up. To me it smells very mature and it definitely leans masculine. Initially I had deemed this perfume as not full bottle worthy but after buying a larger decant, i have grown to love this scent. I had rated it a 6.5/10 but this has now changed to a much higher 9/10 for me. As always, buy a decant first and this scent is in my opinion not a safe blind buy.

The fake downvotes have to stop. There's no way the votes are coming from legitimate owners. One vote for "very weak" longevity? Laughable. This is currently at 3.33? Come on... I've seen significantly worse fragrances with higher ratings on here. As to the actual review: It's a decent fragrance. It leans masculine. I do get really solid performance. I got about 3ish hours of projection and another 7+ hours as a skin scent. If you spray it on clothes, it's damn near eternal! I don't get much bergamot, but there's a slight sweetness that must be from the tangerine in the opening that plays off the muskiness. The wood and oud give it a smoky, incense note. I pick up an almost leathery note too. I blind bought it during the pre-release and I dont regret picking it up, especially when it was 20% off, but I do think it's still an expensive purchase. It's a 4 out of 5 for me, probably a little higher like 4.1 to 4.2.

I can almost guarantee that most of the down votes are by people that haven’t gotten their nose on this. They may have just not liked the price or note breakdown. Not saying that it’s mass appealing at all. Definitely an evening, cooler weather, date night type fragrance.Solid blend! I’ve worn it a few times already but plan on putting it to the test this week on a cold winter night with the misses. More to come...currently giving it an 8.4 out of 10. —————————————————————

Musky vanilla oud that reminds me a lot of Black Afgano from Nasomatto, and feels like a mix of that with Nemean Lion. If you like either of those I'd give this one a try, not bad.

This one is challenging, and I'm surprised to see people calling this a mass appealing fragrance... because it's not. Mass appealing is Bleu de Chanel, Polo 67, Hawas, Acqua di Gio... something easy to like by the masses. I do not see the masses flocking to Vulcan's Revenge, aka, Fire & Desire. Does that mean that I hate the fragrance? Of course not. But do I like it? Eh... Anyway, Fire & Revenge is a very apt name for this fragrance. It's very warm- like fire. It's bright and smoky. It almost smells like there's leather in the mix as well despite not being listed. I do get the cashmere and amber (which must by why this fragrance gives it that warm/hot vibe- I get the same thing from Batman Vengeance from House of Sillage which also has those notes- and both of those feel like they ACTUALLY warm the skin). I also can see the vanilla and pink pepper being a part of this... but this is a bright, slightly sweet, smoky winter fragrance through and through. If you want a challenge, this one's for you.

Dirty musky and primal. Not a love, not a like, just ok. Won't be buying a bottle anytime soon. I see the appeal but its just not full bottle worthy considering the price.

The only Argos I straight up do not like. I cannot figure this one out and I am slightly nauseated. I just spray it, and not I am sitting here with the stank face wondering why I even sprayed it. If you look up my reviews, I never give a review where I am just rambling. I attach my social media to my reviews... not this time. TBF, I have not given it time to dry down, so maybe it gets better!?!?!?!?!

Headache straight away ... some terrible oud here

After seeing this with a 3.8 score, it’s clear that using Fragrantica to help you decide on a fragrance is that last thing you should do. I’m wearing this right now for the first time from a sample and instantly in love. This is better than a Triumph of Bacchus imo, both the edp and extrait versions. Sharpness from the pink pepper that is smoothed out perfectly with the oud, vanilla/amber and sandalwood. This is a sexy mass appealing fragrance imo, and I will check back in with how the longevity is. The first 2 hours have been amazing. A couple sprays on the neck on each side have a beautiful scent bubble that has me just sniffing for more. It’s strong but not overwhelming at all. Honestly 10/10 right now
