Hunter

I really like this. Its a delicious gourmand treat full of fruit, nuts, flowers and candy and it ends up with patchouli- but not too much and musk an hour in. Nice job. For all the bad reviews I had nice longevity and little silage. I would buy this again before I run out. I have drawers and drawers of fragrances and its running in the top 40 rotation.

Who cares if it resembles Bvlgari Jasmine Noir or not ! It doesn't, in fact. Fresh but subdued Jasmine with Sandalwood undertones. Yes, a whiff of white chocolate here and there. Delicate and delightful . Agreed, the ethnicity matters and it smells heavenly to my Indian nose.

Hunter, my first women's fragrance from Armaf, doesn't disappoint. It's a jasmine bomb, reminiscent of, but not identical to, Bvlgari Jasmin Noir. However, I find this one more comfortable to wear. During the first hour or two, the full array of notes take their turn in the spotlight. Overall, it's a barely sweet, medium-bodied, but bold white floral with a bit of an edge. However, the dry down coalesces into a potent, straightforward jasmine as the base notes and almond play subtle supporting roles. The licorice is not prominent on my skin (thankfully). If you check this one out, do not look at the notes and expect it to be sweet. I'm very pleased with it as I wanted a strong, beautiful jasmine that doesn't feel strange to my nose like Jasmine Noir. The quality is great, especially for the low price point.

This was a nice blind buy. It's a soft jasmine forward fragrance, pillowed by a very soapy clean scent. The almond-y base is similar to what you would get from a creamy Softsoap. At the end of day dry down, it really does smell like I've just washed my hands.

@Chiru In response to your assertion that I was suffering "olfactory fatigue" regarding this perfume, I am compelled to respond. I have nearly 800 bottles of perfume and - at the age of 55 years and having worn perfume regularly for most of them - I am well aware of when I am suffering olfactory fatigue. I often lose the ability to smell the perfume I am wearing one day - BUT, I can smell it on the clothes I was wearing the following day, when my nose has recovered. For this reason, I assess a perfume's longevity on the basis of its performance on cloth, not on my skin. When I tested MY BOTTLE of Hunter Armaf, it had absolutely NO longevity or projection either on my skin (which is admittedly very dry) OR ON MY CLOTHING the next day; there was no trace of it - hence my comments below. I am - absolutely - prepared to concede that the bottle you tested had excellent longevity and moderate projection. However, the one I tested, and clearly the one mschnabel666 (who, incidentally, is an experienced and prolific reviewer) tested did not. It is quite possible that there was a production problem with the bottles that we tested and that the issue has been addressed by Armaf; if that is the case, I am very happy to hear it. Please do not condemn a reviewer's personal experience and opinion of a perfume on the basis of your own.

@mschnabel666 I read your comments about the impact of climate etc. on perfume performance with interest, as I have experienced this too. I bought Fleur Burlesque Vilhelm Parfumerie one summer, a couple of years ago; it smelled heavenly and I wore it on a regular basis. Having a large collection of perfumes, it dropped out of rotation - until I decided to wear it one cold January morning, and discovered the gardenia and jasmine were unbearable; their relentless shrieking caused an instantaneous sick headache. I had to wash it off, take painkillers and anti-nausea tablets and lie down in a dark room. The smell was so awful, I thought the perfume may have turned (which pissed me off as I hadn't owned it long and IT IS NOT CHEAP). Rather than throwing it out, I returned the bottle to the cupboard and gingerly retested it some six months later, on a typically (for SE England) hot, sticky, humid summer day... and found that Fleur Burlesque, once again, was delightful. I think it would be a great idea if the "Add Your Review" box included an additional area where each reviewer could provide information regarding climatic conditions etc. at the time of testing. I think having the reviewers top 5 fragrances immediately next to their name would be really helpful, too.

I bought this blind a couple of years ago on the basis of the notes, comparisons to Jasmin Noir L'Essence (which I love) and reviews. I have a number of Arabic scents and have discovered many to be outstanding value for money in terms of quality, longevity etc. Sadly, Armaf's Hunter is not one of them. Please be guided by the mschnabel666's comments towards the bottom of his/her review; "Turns out, very little potency/longevity/sillage with Hunter. Meh". This is all you need to know about this perfume - the complete and entire truth. I tried Hunter during different seasons/climatic conditions and there is ZERO longevity and sillage - not even the very low retail price justifies buying it, because the fragrance is so short-lived, you need to spray seven or eight times every hour. Please, please save your money!

After having excellent success with Armaf's Tag Her Prestige, I was excited to order this. Worst blind buy EVER!!!! Seriously, I sprayed this all over myself like a body spray. I get a very faint scent of almonds, NO florals, some faint sweet licorice. It is barely detectable.....but when it IS....it is nauseating. No lasting power and almost zero silage. Smells somewhat like rotting fruit, although no fruit is listed. I cannot pinpoint what it is, but something is seriously wrong with this scent. I thought maybe I had a bad bottle....so stupid me....I ordered another one from elsewhere. Same sickening result. EDIT: After about a half hour, it smells like an intense play-dough.

I really tried to like it - I wanted to love it. Neither happened.

My journey to this blind buy: Bought Jasmin Noir by Bvlgari in the EDT. Weak jasmine/licorice water. A waste really. The EDP of Jasmin Noir- better... but still lacking. Along the same lines is M by Mariah-- which is affordable and POTENT. Then I tried the L'Elixir and L'Essence of JN.... I like them both but still so weak! :( So from the L'Essence page I saw it compared to this HUNTER by Armaf. I have 350 bottles of perfume, and I've never heard of Armaf. So, for a $22 blind buy-- I did it. (Armaf can be hard to find in the US, but I got mine from maxaroma.com for $22-- nice!) From the bottle, before spraying-- this is going to be just like JN. And it is. Delicious. Creamy jasmine, licorice, now some powdery almond... patch and tonka. This is amazing! Forget the Jasmin Noirs-- get this!!! My initial test was on a tissue- so I'll wear proper tonight and report back. So far, it's not a sillage bomb-- it's moderate and def calmed down after the initial blast. And after 5 minutes the powder comes in (almond/tonka I think). The bottle is kinda silly. I removed the corset looking thing. The cap secures tight and can only be put on one way. Very jasmine and incense/musky. Very middle eastern. (I'm thinking the incense is coming from the woods, licorice, and patch) My tissue smell is kind of disappearing. Which will be a real bummer because I can't find a smell like this that lasts! However, I'll do my proper test later! :) I also blind grabbed Tag Prestige by Armaf for Women. $19 blind buy. Haha. I can't wait! Oh bummer. Turns out, very little potency/longevity/sillage with Hunter. Meh. In the end, I'm like the review below me... licorice/almond/jasmine water. Crap. I don't get rotting fruit, and it's not cloying. Just no potency. Maybe it's my nose/weather/chemistry tho.

This is also my first bottle of Armaf and first real "clone" fragrance I've tried. I loved the original Jasmin Noir for years back in my old fragrance days and I am honestly surprised at how close this one got to the original scent. It's by no means an exact replica in terms of quality; but it has the shadow of Jasmin Noir which is close enough for me to enjoy. A slightly synthetic watered-down version of JN, but still good on its own, nonetheless. You'll have to spray a lot for decent longevity and silage (but still heavier than the original which didn't last as long). First blast is a bit off-putting don't let that scare you, once it warms up the synthetic accord is not so bad. Dries down to a sweet mellow doughy marzipan aroma. Pleasant enough for casual wear if you don't expect too much.

I would also like to add- my extreme climates/weather GREATLY affects the way a perfume smells/projects/lasts. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. COLD WINTER lasts about 6 months, and the other 6 months we get Spring, Summer, and Fall. Climate/seasons greatly affects sillage/potency/longevity. It's not just our noses. Halston Original is a BOMB. A BIG huge bomb of 70s disco chypre glory. However-- I wore it during summer/humid/sticky (or as humid/hot as Michigan gets) and I smelled NOTHING. NADA. I even had a vintage formula! Nothing. It was like water. Winter rolled around again-- Halston smells like it should. I think climate/temps/humidity/dry air/skin/chemistry is to blame instead of accusing someone of having a broken nose.

@corkscrewcurly....i had the same experience. I was gifted 4 bottles of this a few years ago. I was so upset when i sprayed it all over and got next to nothing. I opened all 4 bottles and got the same results. Nearly zero scent.

@Chiru: you aparently don't understand that every perfume performs differently on every skin. My skin (despite not being dry) doesn't hold anything more than 3-4 hours. And I tried a lot!

I think I got a bad bottle, it smells like nail polish. It's not strong, just a light chemical smell, but it's not sweet or anything as described in the notes...really strange.

Too strong of a patchouli. I blind ordered it and had to return it because it was so in my face!

Absolutely not. It smells like the woods. Do no blind buy, you will be very disappointed.
