Magical Oud

This is 75 percent to tobacco rush from afnan. Really good earthy dirty tobacco with a fair amount of oud. It's near beast mode as you'd expect it to be. This whole eter line so far has been fantastic. 9/10.

Magical Oud opens in a very focused way. You don't get a long list of notes announcing themselves one by one; instead, two materials are clearly readable right away: saffron and tobacco. It's truly photorealistic. I have no idea what real saffron smells like, so I'm basing this on similar scents — and it's the same as in Oud for Glory, for example. The rest is deeply blended into a woody oud base. The base is maybe minimally vanilla-sweet. There is zero fecal oud, it's rather dirty-green. I recognize a kind of green note that's also present in Ajmal Musk Silk Supreme, blended in a musky way — an interesting find. I guess it's due to the lily of the valley. The tobacco stays present, but becomes less front-loaded and more integrated — still clearly tobacco, just no longer sitting on top like a separate layer. Overall, it feels like smoke from Ajmal Verde meets saffron from Oud for Glory, with tobacco on top. The biggest downside is weak projection. I needed two wearings to write this review; it's too weak. Longevity is okay, but this barely noticeable cloud needs an overspray, unlike most oud compositions where one spray fills a room. Because of this weakness, it's one of those ouds you can wear around people, since it ends up being a private companion: a close-to-skin scent that doesn't go much farther than arm's length. If it had proper power, it would definitely land near the top, since Magical Oud has a genuinely interesting composition — tobacco that smells like tobacco, saffron that gives it a recognizable spicy edge, and a woody oud that stays on the slightly green and dirty side. Depending on what you want, that's either a flaw... or the entire point. I do get the jubilation 25 reference but this has the blackberry completely removed to my nose. The tobacco in here is photo realistic....making this fragrance my second photo realistic tobacco second to Cuban Tobacco by Ibrahim Al Qurashi! Excellent value and longevity for the price point
