Tres Bon

My bottle of Tres Bon arrived today. Other than it being inexpensive and my have a fragrance problem, I'm not exactly sure why I ordered a bottle since I have Aventus, and a dozen clones, and GIT, and a half-dozen clones. I like quite a few Armaf fragrances so call it morbid curiosity, I suppose. This fragrance is nothing like Aventus (with nothing being the operative word in this sentence) or any of its many clones I have tried, but it did briefly remind me of GIT at the opening...for all of 10-seconds - that's it. In other words, it is nothing like GIT. If you're looking for a GIT clone then Tres Nuit is decent choice...but Lattafa Raghba for Men is the best option. Tres Bon is a woody, spicy, peppery fragrance with some dark, somber, aromatic tones and a whole lot of powder. It's actually an interesting fragrance that is dark and spicy and not your typical department store fragrance. However, it is not a people pleaser and fragrance fanatics are going to gravitate towards niche perfumes having a much higher quality level. So Tres Bon is not going to get much love. What does it smell like? Well, it smells like someone spilled two of my fragrances, bottled the spillage, and sold it as Tres Bon. These two fragrances are Carven Pour Homme (not Carven Homme) and Pharrell Williams Girl by Comme des Garcons. Seriously, just look at the notes pyramid and, if you're familiar with these two scents, you'll quickly agree with my assessment. Although Girl doesn't get much love, I find it to be a really nice, unique, Comme des Garcons fragrance that was poorly marketed. And Carven Pour Homme is a really nice Francis Kurkdjian creation that doesn't get much love either, but I really like it. Anyway, Tres Bon is an amalgam of these two fragrances minus a whole lot of quality. Still, I actually kind of like it. Cheers! Update: Lordy do I hate the bottle design of Tren Bon (and Tres Nuit) and the atomizers. Seriously, even with large hands the bottle is impossible to hold; anti-ergonomic or designed for aliens from another galaxy. Moreover, the atomizer is piss-poor and delivers the tiniest squirt of juice. Quite awkward told the bottle with two-hands and pumping furiously with index fingers.

So I can see the comparisons to Aventus but honestly this smells more like Insurrection pure more than anything but a sweeter better blended version. To describe the scent on its own it opens really sweet and powdery but as it dries down gets more fresh and citrusy but still has that slight powderiness and sweetness from the opening. Once this reaches the drydown your left with that nice birch making this smoky but it also having some freshness from the lavender and some creaminess from the vanilla. I do have to say out of all the Armaf fragrances this to my nose is easily the best blended scent they have!! Performance on this is above average as it lasts 6-8 hours but only has slightly above average projection. But because of that this would make for a good work fragrance. Overall rating --- 8 out of 10 ! Great scent for a great price and 1 for the cheapie but goodie hall of fame

To my nose, this seems like Club De Nuit Intense diluted with Tres Nuit. The opening is fresh with lots of pineapple and citrusy cleanliness as opposed to the smoky opening on the CDNIM, but the dry down on both is remarkably similar. Hence the comparisons to Aventus are pretty obvious once you get past the one hour mark. This could be a Club De Nuit Intense Man - Summer, if you will. I find CDNIM too smoky for the tropical summer and this just makes up perfectly for the weather.

Count me among those who like Tres Bon. As we already know, it's very similar to some other Armaf products, namely Tres Nuit and Le Parfait. In fact, it's almost identical to Le Parfait, but I do pick out some subtle differences, such that I like this one a bit better. Le Parfait opens much the same as this one, but with a touch more punch, along with a spicy note that Tres Bon doesn't present. The result is that Le Parfait comes out of the gate a bit muddled in my opinion, whereas Tres Bon is a bit cleaner and greener smelling -- which it honestly should, given that it's ostensibly a GIT clone variant. As they dry down, they level off quite a bit and become a bit more similar, though I get the impression that Armaf tried to combine Tres Nuit with a bit too much CDNI, negating a bit of what is good about both. With Tres Bon, it seems like they combine the same with a much lighter dose of CDNI. The result is something a bit closer to the Tres Nuit/GIT side, but with a very subtle brightness and fruitiness to it in the place of iris powderiness -- so, a GIT clone with more citrus and less powdery florals. Not a bad idea. Further into the dry down, Le Parfait stays fairly linear, just fading over time. The same can be said for Tres Bon, but with a gentle emergence of that brightness from earlier on. I would never mistake this for CDNI or Aventus, as it stays solidly in the direction of a GIT clone throughout. Projection is modest with Tres Bon, which I would expect. Longevity is a bit weak, but to be honest, I don't mind refreshing from time to time, given the low price and bright top notes. Of the four Armaf products I've mentioned, I have to say that this one has taken first place in my book -- as I really wear the whole GIT style better than I do the Aventus, but appreciate dialing down its powdery aspects just a bit in favor of some citrus/pineapple brightness and acidity. it's not half bad and qualifies as an amazing value for its price -- dumb name, dumb bottle aside.

A different version of Club de nuit by Armaf, lighter and yet strong. I like it but nothing special about it, I prefer Club de nuit. I give it 7/10.

I have no idea how this could be compared to Aventus, there is zero resemblance. It's closer to GIT (not that close mind). Every modern masculine cliche is present here,the opening is 100% the ever popular violet leaf, the middle is floral and base woody amber. It brings mind the newest Carven Homme, especially the opening however this is not as harsh/screechy. From reading reviews this smells similar to how I expect Tres Nuit to smell,I actually had to check the bottle to make sure I had the right one. It's not a bad smell just completely unremarkable, performance is below average-average.

Reminds me of the exact smell my dad’s belt had that he used to beat me with. Not sure whether that’s a good or bad thing. Think they went too heavy on the powdery, violet/floral note. Either that or I'm not too keen of majority of male floral but mostly powder fragrances. I'm not homosexual, but give me more of that wood note. A firm 2.5 out of 5

Whereas Aventus is a contrast of smoky/birch with fruity top notes, Tres Bon is just the former.. its got the smoky/'dark' part about it right, but it isnt offset by the what makes Aventus so addicting. Its a half baked version of imitation-Aventus. Not terrible, but not something id wear. There are better imitation fragrances that Armaf makes.

Very synthetic, weak projection, crappiest sprayer I've seen and doesn't represent Aventus. Very poorly made. 3/10

This smells a lot like Le Parfait. Just not as sweet or soft to my nose. It also has a bread accord that I pick up from the opening until it dries down. It might be the musk, but it throws me off for a while. My bottle also had a really long "break in period". Smelled really powdery and bad.. now it smells like a darker Le Parfait. Maybe a little more classy, because it's not as bright to me. Even though I prefer LP, I still really like Tres Bon. I get a "grown" and clean scent, that's almost soapy but still dark. It's not spicey to my nose in the sense of being peppery, but it's not as smooth as Le Parfait imo. I don't really get the fruit notes in the pyramid.. like at all. I get the sandalwood and florals, pepper, musk and maybe vanilla.. but the citrus is not noticeable to me. Too bad, I feel like some fruit would be perfect, but maybe that's why Armaf has CDNIM. I have not smelled CDNIM, but I would say Tres Bon has very vague similarities to my bottle of Aventus (smokey not fruity). And that's only once it's well into its drydown. I'd say college and up can wear it.. day to night leaning towards evening. All year round, but maybe better for fall. Casual to dressy.. maybe a "serious" date night or more reserved situation. Possibly work, but it's definitely not a sporty scent. Overall good juice.

The reviewer below me is bang on with everything they said. I bought Le Parfait first before Tres Bon. It’s almost exactly alike, but this one is a little darker. The best way I can describe it would be a mix between GIT and CDNI. This version compares to LP is softer in areas. I get mostly musk, pepper, citrus, and amber. I’m currently timing the length of how long this scent lasts. I’ll be back with my update in a bit. UPDATE* As of my timing this scent, after about one hour and a half this turns into a skin scent. I’ve timed about 4 hours in total and that’s being generous, it was barely there by then. To me, this is a bust, on my skin anyway. This is one of the weaker Armaf scents. Skip to others that are a little strong. Longevity-5/10 Scent-7/10 Silage-6/10 Value-6/10 Overall-6/10

I don't know why people are trashing this one... Well, I do... Is because the, for me non existant, comparissons with Aventus. I have no idea why people started comparing this with Aventus.... This is 0% Aventus! Club de nuit intense it's the perfect Aventus clone, period. About Tres Bon: I think it smells fantástic! I love it! It's something in between Millessime Imperial and Green Irish Tweed as nif1 says, but no Aventus at all!! I love this fragrance for casual hot spring/summer days. It has average longevity and low projection. Ideal for going to the beach or a pool party under the sun. Worth it a try!! Don't get carried away. PS The sprayer it is a POS!!!

Hi Recieved this today sprayed it on wrist and thought oh crap wasted £30 ordering 2 bottles but thought oh well went shopping and about a hour later kept getting delicious almost Creed aventus vibes honestly give it about a hour and you'll smell the aventus DNA but it's totally a skin scent I'm going to save and try it in the summer hopefully will project more. That's my honest opinion. For the price tres bon is a beautiful fragrance. Ps I've also ordered Armaf club de nuit intense man Armaf tres nuit Really hope they live up to the hype.

Call me crazy but this really don't smell like Aventus, Reyane Tradition Wild II or Club de Nuit Intense (men). It isn't like Tres Nuit either. Instead Tres Bon has its own nice clean smell to it. That said, it smells vaguely familiar but not enough for me to say "this is distinctly XYZ by ABC."

Another blind buy, I was curious at the description that it's GIT and Adventus twist. I don't like it right now. I'll have to respray some other time,aybe I'll like it but initial impression, I don't enjoy it. But after an hour, I'm not hating it so much hence I thought I'd need to resoray.

It smells like a mix of aventus, Green irish tweed and millisime imperial all in one......Club de nuit intense man is the best clone of aventus yet.just get that and skip this but overall not a bad scent for everyday use

Not similar to aventus at all, it is really poor addition in armaf line.
