Wild Garlic 野蒜

It may surprise some of you just how much time I spend among plants. Sure, those who follow me know my penchant for botany, but I really do commune with these organisms. Just the other day, I spent a good half hour just wandering a local community garden admiring everything. When I find a plant that fascinates me, I will frequently lean in closely, choosing to use all of my senses, taking notice of the finer details, examining structure and texture of flowers and leaves. In studying these organisms, I use touch and smell, and am often compelled to take a leaf and rub it a bit between my thumb and forefinger, often to see what aroma or oil is expressed through such friction. I have learned to identify so many plants through smell in this manner. There are some that take little skill, however, like those in the allium family. Even the flowers tread between floral and sulfurous. Think chive, leek, scallion, onion, and of course garlic. Wild garlic, in particular (as opposed to bulb garlic), has leaves that are sharply green and distinctively allium in character. It didn't surprise me too much to learn of Aromag's Wild Garlic. I was already aware that homeopathic doses of powerful garlic and onion oils have been known to be used by perfumers to create the penetrating quality of fresh green vegetation. This is not to say that Ropion has done exactly that here, and whether there was truly an extract of wild garlic leaves used is uncertain. However, it is undeniable to me that there is a certain satisfying pungency here associated with them. I discern it among this delicious melange of petigrain, shiso, cassis, tomato and celery leaves. How's that for leafy? Together, we have different green sensations in communion: grassy, hissy, grassy, minty, aromatic, citric, floral, spicy, and stemmy. Naturally, a significant dosage of galbanum is here, with a rounder lavender and the suggestion of jasmine. The result is so vivacious and vibrant that it feels like a mood elevator to me. Nothing can really match the experience of time well spent in a vegetable and herb garden, but as far as wearing something to remind one of it, I'd argue Wild Garlic comes very close.

Surprisingly good! Was a little afraid to try this after seeing someone else comment about the lavender, but that is barely detectable on my skin. I just get a beautifully refreshing green scent, fresh like showering among leaves, with no soapiness. Perfect for daily wear in the spring and summer. I'm waiting for my full bottle to arrive!

@TomHeyda @Cinnamonbuns Hey, I shop a lot for Chinese beauty products and have a few fragrances from there. I usually use a shopping agent/forwarding service to get it to Canada. You can just search 'aromag 岩兰 taobao' and it should show in google results. Taobao is kind like Chinese Amazon btw but with official brand stores and random sellers. Once you get the product listing just copy and paste the link in the forwarding service of choice. I use Superbuy, they have their own search and inputting 'aromag 岩兰' came up with all the fragrances from the brand. Word of caution though, perfume might get taken by customs but that's only happened to me once. It just gets sent back to the warehouse and you keep submitting until it clears.
