Orange Oudsicle

I purchased this during the sale when it was 100$ for a 50ml bottle. For me, whenever I first smelled it I was disappointed in it because it didn't smell how I expected it to smell. However, the more I wore it and let it develop, I started to really like it and get a sense of the full scent. It starts very floral to go with the orange peel. It doesn't smell like a realistic juicy orange, but a dirty orange tainted with vanilla and florals in the background to round it out. However, as the scent dries down the profile becomes much less feminine and floral, but becomes dirtied with the woods and oud coming more into play. This is where it stays throughout the dry down (about 1.5-2 hours from opening). I imagine Orange Oudsicle tells the story of an orange creamsicle that was dropped in a flower bed and melted, so that the stick still has the creamsicle residue on it, while also being surrounded by flowers and covered in a little dirt. This is such a playful perfume and I really appreciate the sense of humor behind it while also being of great quality. The orange is rounded with a creamy and sweet vanilla, making the titular orange creamsicle accord. The oud and ebony brings a hearth of warmth, that helps ground this perfume. The almond and heliotrope, help to give more brightness and depth to that creamsicle accord. This smells like the name suggests, and is absolutely worth getting your nose on. For those that seek performance look no further. More than two sprays and you’ll damn near fill a room, and many have commented on how much they like the smell. But may not be the most appropriate in an office or school setting as it can be a little loud when over sprayed.

I bought this beauty a while back and it has become my muse, my companion fragrance that goes with me on almost all my daytime adventures, my signature daytime scent. It starts of with a very distinct , deep orange then you get that wonderful Creamsicle vanilla...but then...the star of the show...the Almighty Oud....an unexpected and delicious compliment grabber. Excellent customer service too!

Sampling Aromas de Salazar Orange Oudsicle, a creative blend that fittingly smells of an orange creamsicle (an orange/vanilla ice cream treat on a stick), like Blueberry Chypre and Cola Oud, a highly innovative mix of contrasting elements with strong performance, a fun semi-gourmand. As is often the case, the opening is a bit spicier, more biting, and intense, while the dry down is smoother, creamier, and sweeter. This is case where I prefer the more toned-down dry down the more intense, pervasive opening, but I think that many will find the evolution to be interesting. Beyond the orange, vanilla, and oud, this is rounded out with florals and woods, but the three main notes are the main story, and I enjoy what Michael Salazar has done with this. Orange Oudsicle is priced at $175 for 50ml, in the middle of the house’s range, very reasonable in the current market for a niche, inventive perfume that performs well, and is sold via the house website and Perfumology. 7 out of 10

$225 for 50ml of this is actually insane. Absolutely not.

The wife and I stole away for a few days and I had the opportunity to give Orange Ouidsicle a good try in the Guam heat. I'll start at the end and say this one is a keeper for me and I've really grown to enjoy the juice the more I wear. This, for me, gives the vibe of a darker orange color, as opposed to a citrusy fruit. I like that, I like that a lot! The front end is quite sweet yet not cloying at all and opens smooth and creamy. My experience is that this formula is very well blended and more balanced than my last test ride w/Cola Oud. It's also more linear which makes sense and the transitions between stages are super smooth. About an hour in an almond/heliotrope lift shows up matching the dark orange. Again, really good for my nose, but I tend to enjoy denser perfumes so this one hit the mark in that regard! As mentioned in the past, I'm a decant whore, so reapplying is normal for me so I tend to view longevity in a different light than most. With this juice that point was mute as this is borderline beast mode on my skin. A few hours in and I get a great blend of Ebony wood, patchouli, tonka, and oud (no skank at all)....all of which I really dig. Did I say this is dark? Yea, well it's still that way long down the line....and yet it still holds a playful slice of sweet orange until the not-so-bitter end. I got 8 plus, she never pushes out too far, maybe arms-length for 4 hours or so, and didn't overpower even in the Guam heat/humidity. I'd be very interested to see what this does in the colder weather...should be fun. And the good news is, I'll get to give that a try in the colder Korean winters because she's a keeper....and one worthy of a try for anyone who enjoys sweet starts, dense bubbles, and long stays! I'd have to give this gem an 8 out of 10 (10's are God mode for me) and I'll have her in my indie rotation for long to come!

This perfume’s time to shine is literally right now on the cusp of summertime. I could see this layering very well with a fresh green or layering in the cool weather with a complimentary vanilla. The oud in this makes it such a long lasting perfume. I would say if anything was the marker of this perfume house, it’s the way these fragrances project and last, which I think can be very difficult to find sometimes. This starts out with a creamsicle orange note that is bright but dries down to a sweet warmth. It’s very simple and linear but on the skin could easily be a compliment getter since it meshes so well with skin chemistry. Try oud on skin rather than clothing and see how you like it better. That’s where oud belongs to shine just the right amount of radiant. This house has shown me how to appreciate oud!
