Oud Fougère

Polysnifferous was my first experience with Indie brands. Gentlemen is most excellent and so is Brackish Man, although its a dupe. I decided to give the samples section a run, and fougeres are my favorite genre, so here I am with 5x 2ml samples of Michael's artwork. From the few that I have experienced in the Indie brand, I have noticed that they all use the highest ingredients and they all are tame meaning there isn't much projection. I am on the fence with performance. I don't want to look for the scent, but I am coming around. I am not sure if this is done with a woke mindset to not offend others, or that is just how the cookie crumbles with ingredients used. Oud Fougere is excellent. The high quality ingredients are blended to absolute perfection! I wish that it projected more though. With over 50 fougeres in my inventory, I just can't see myself spending $180 for a bottle of this. I wish he sold 30mls for like $70. Id consider scooping one up at that price point. I can get 100ml of Roja Danger PC for $100 and that is artwork in a bottle as well. Oh well... bro needs to make a living I guess. 8.25/10

Picked up a 15ml recently. I had to have Tobacco is My Love Language. But, this looked interesting and there was a buy 2 get one free special. Couldn't resist. I also picked up. Labdanam Is My Love Language as well. More to follow. This is a fantastic take on a fougère. I have Beau De Jour and this is in that territory. I prefer this. The resinous facet is enough to give it the edge and make it an instant favorite for me. But, like Tikiman77 below, I get no oud. At least none that stand out. So if you are afraid of any off-putting oud, fear not. Beautifully done. Great longevity. Decent projection. Mr. Salazar is making some hits.

Big fan of this fragrance. Find myself applying it before bed and under my shirt on days with big presentations. I alternate this with Creed Viking back and forth. I find both having the same vibrating energy, putting me in a great mood. Not entirely sure I truly catch the oud, but it certainly has woodsy darker notes attached to a true fougere vibe. Think Beau de Jour with more bass and resin. Very much enjoy this fragrance - though it's a scent for me, not worn to troll for compliments.

This is one of the best things I’ve ever smelled. Resinous but fresh modern fougere. Makes me feel put together. Kind of mysterious as well. Has a classic vibe to it. A darker fougere ardent. Absolutely love it.

Sharp bergamot, followed by an almost pissy sensation before the sage/rosemary/basil combo mixes with undercurrent of carnation and lavender in the open. It absolutely reminds me of some of the 1970s throwback fougeres. The heart is interesting with nice floral notes and I was excited for the patchouli as one of my favorite notes alongside other green elements like tarragon, but I'll admit I was worried about cannabis as I'm rather turned off by that smell typically. Luckily that accord was background for me, and almost came off as minty. In the base the oud pushes its way forward atop of a slightly sour vetiver that slowly turns into a slightly sweet musky oakmoss. It's cool fougere twist.
