Santal Vanille

The opening is a crisp green apple and sharp bergamot with a hint of future civet that flips pretty quickly into a heart of sandalwood and bourbon vanilla. It gets even more exotic in the base with some animalic grrr grrr from the frankincense wrapped oud and leather.

This one is SUPER sandalwood heavy in the opening (A sandalwood lovers dream lol.) Very unisex. I get a hint of vanilla, then in comes the Tonka and leather and rose...finally the benzoin, very mild background Oud, Milk and carrot are where this scent comes to rest for me. As per usual Micheal Salazar has blended this one beautifully and it lasts forever on clothing and over 6-8 hours on skin. Interesting piece, I've been layering it with Un Bois Vanille and I love them together. I will be keeping this one in my collection.

Sample from friend. Instead of warm and sweet of “Santal Vanille,” I’d describe this dark-toned fragrance as more of a “leathery vanilla.” It’s quite a complex mix, but what stands out the most to me is the leather note, with just a hint of vanilla buried deep in the base. An interesting experience overall. Might give it another shot if I get the chance

This is absolutely the worst alongside leather is my love language! This one smells NOTHING like the notes/accords suggest. Pure chemical mess. No sweetness, no vanilla, no nothing. This smells like nail varnish and glue. I was so shocked and dissapointed, I believed that I had an offer batch or it was labelled wrongly. I then opened another bottle of it and sprayed it but it was the same! I don't know what went wrong with this one but DO NOT BLIND BUY THIS, especially if you're expecting/looking for a sweet vanilla/gourmand.

got a sample set of the new 5 from Jamie and Noah on tiktok. This one is probably my favorite of the bunch. For some reason, I get predominantly oud assam - rounded out and smooth from the sandalwood yet carried by it. Some of the characteristic spiced and animalic aspects of oud show up, but in a very pleasant manner. The leather plays a big part in this experience as well, and the type of sandalwood could very well also be contributing to my perception of what is "oud" here. I stick on the oud note here because ironically enough, I personally have more of that oud experience here as opposed to another scent in this collection with oud in it, even in the name of it! LOL. That one is still great though. That funk, spiced sweetness, and woodyness are the main aspects of the opening. It dries down to reveal more of that cinnamon spice and apple accord, and a pretty green, almost minty to some people, floral accord. What remains after hours and hours is a subtle skin scent of vanilla and sandalwood nuances. I'd say the palo santo helps to accentuate a bit of the bakhoor oud feel, and the carrot adds to the creamyness of the sandalwood experience.
