L'Etrog Acqua

I can’t believe this has so many awful reviews. I’m a citrus and freshie lover, and I fell in full love with this at scentxplore in NYC. It is absolutely beautiful. It doesn’t smell like your average freshie and you can feel the ingredients are superior. It lasts on me for hours and it’s not run of the mill at all. It’s the first citrus forward scent I’ve ever owned or smelled (and I’ve smelled and tried a ton) that is both citrus forward and classy. In the summer or spring, or on a warm day or night I choose this for dressing up or going out. I wear it whenever I want to, but it feels classy and it is unique among the thousands of citrus fragrances out there. It’s probably unisex, but I’m a woman and I feel it’s on the feminine side.

I bought this several years back after one of Carlos Huber's in-store introductions to his exclusive, luxurious line ... but I stowed it in my wardrobe, to bring out on special occasions only, and somewhat forgot about it. Recently, I retrieved it from the darkness and set it in plain view, and have started wearing it on sunny Saturdays ... and I have now completely fallen for its considerable charms. I won't dissect the notes or accords - I don't have that gift - but I can wholeheartedly recommend it as a beautiful, full-bodied woody-citrus scent with surprising power and longevity. L'Etrog Acqua has really grown on me, and found a place high up in my perfume pantheon!

I agree completely with Greennatalie. L'Etrog Acqua is a gorgeous, classy, realistic fresh citrus. I'm definitely getting this. It reminds me a little bit of some of the great Xerjoff citrus fragrances. I love the citron paired with one of my favorite notes, myrtle. It is like a better version of Acqua Di Parma Mirto Di Panarea. L'Etrog Acqua is definitely unisex. it is an easy to wear, nobody can hate it sort of fragrance. And as Greennatalie pointed out, it is unique and very few other people would be wearing this if you showed up somewhere with it on. I give it an 8.75/10 and a Fragrantica score of 4.3.

This is my version of sunshine in a bottle. Fresh, aromatic greens, zesty/alive citrus...L'etrog Acqua is a fragrance that I can celebrate sunny/warm weather with, a scent that is truly uplifting and invigorating...it charges my batteries and wakes up my spirit. I don't mind citrus-floral fragrances, but I LOVE a true-to-life, no-frills, literal citrus interpretation and this one fits the bill perfectly. The citron and myrtle are absolute stars here; there are strong lemon-esque elements that don't go anywhere near the "disinfectant/furniture-polish" direction which I often find is the case in a fresh/woody citrus dominated composition. And, thankfully there is no cake, vanilla, or sugar! I know some people love that kind of thing...but I just can't...bleh!...this is thankfully not a gourmond. The dry-down is a soft, faintly woody, fresh musk with whispering tendrils of green. Some people that have mentioned in previous reviews that this is a soapy fragrance and I would disagree. My nose detects a faint "aldehydic energy" akin to Chanel No 5, but its so subtle and is completely where the comparison stops...they are two different entities entirely...it was a strange association, believe me. Perhaps that's what others are referring to? This is a fragrance that I can literally bathe in. I try to get some on my cloths so it will last a bit longer...longevity on my skin is about 3 hrs or so....not that great, it is a citrus fragrance after all and they never last long...but I don't even care, I can always spray some more as a pick-me-up. It's an anchor in my spring/summer rotation, an absolutely wonderful fragrance! 8/10...wouldn't mind a little more water and a longer lifespan.

I think this is the worst scent Arquiste has to offer. If this is your first experience with this house, don't give up, because they have much better to offer than this. I don't think it's overtly bad, but on my skin, almost none of listed scent notes come through. On me, all I get with this fragrance is soap, soap, soap. It's a wet, appealing, lathery soap smell, but I'd never want to smell like soap for 5+ hours (which is how long this scent lasts on my skin). Other than that, there is an overtly citrusy quality to it, but I would never be able to pick out *which* citrus fruits it smells like because of how soapy this is. If you really love FRESH, after shower scents, you actually might like this. Maybe get a sample if that sounds appealing to you. Perhaps my skin chemistry is totally wrong for this scent. For the price, I don't think it's worth it. Still love me some Arquiste though.

I adore the original L'Etrog, so I couldn't wait to give this a try! It is similar, but very citrus forward with a little spice behind it. It dries down to something unpleasant, almost a bit like lemon juice squirted on some coriander and then rubbed on your skin. Glad I only bought the 7.5ml. I will be giving this one away, there are so many other citrus and fresh smells that are clean, and there is something dirty about this one. Dirty lemon.

Simply a juice of citrus fruits. Without any innovative prowess. May appeal to those who like perfumes dated and without risk.

Strong citrus opening that smells like soapy etrog, but also, and this is the impression that lingers, of lemon. Then there's a hard-green-leaf smell that I assume is the myrtle, although at the moment I can't summon the particular smell of myrtle to mind. I also get a smell that reminds me of geranium, which I find frankly nasty; on me, whatever this is is a fetid mint smell. That lasts about an hour and then L'Etrog turns sharp green, almost medicinal. It does not remind me at all of sheltering under the sukkah, smelling the lovely fresh etrog and watching the waving lulav.

I had no clue on what Etrog means. Apparently it is the Jewish name of the cedar fruit and it has religious relevance. Calling this perfume just cedar? The name sounds exotical and mystical, but I don't think that this perfume does justice to such high spiritual values, because, let's be honest, it's a mishmash of non specified citrus smelling like bitter lemon. Oh, so bad! The perfume is not bad-smelling, but with such a name and such a beautiful notes list, I expected more.

Fizzy citrus sodapop short lived...not impressed, not worth the investment.
