Driftwood

As a proud Scot, I like to support local (Scottish) businesses, and Arran definitely deserves that support. Driftwood for me captures the smell of wood pencil shavings, mixed with a slight sweetness and slight pine/toluene heaviness and possible menthol or eucalyptus in the background. I have never smelt a fragrance so delightfully and wholly woody as this one and it is absolutely one of my favourites. I often receive positive comments when I wear this because it is so different from any other scents on the market....I cannot think of another which captures REAL wood aroma so successfully.

I love it!! It smells just like the beach - on a lovely warm, balmy summer's day, with a soft breeze blowing, and the beautiful salty, woody natural herbaceous smells waft all around you, and the beautiful sound of the sea moving and rolling onto the shore, and it's just you, breathing in deeply, and relishing this gorgeous creation - and you've got it all to yourself!! It's a gorgeous, long-lasting, compliment bringing creation, and I adore it. And the bottle and colouring are also gorgeous. It's a gorgeous delight of a perfume!!!

I really love this but I can see that some females might considerate it too masculine. AA have managed to bottle the smell of the seashore with a big dose of ambergris. Its fresh, dry, salty, woody and yet warm care of the labdanum and myrrh. For an edt it has good sillage and longevity. This will be perfect for warm days and casual wear.

Beautiful, real honest-to-God beach!!!! Lovely lovely sea/beach smell I love it. And I mean the beach without all the sunbathers, with all their smelly stuff on, etc.... Just the natural beach with all the dead and alive parts of it. Sea, salt, sand, driftwood, trees, dead bits of sea creatures; sublime!!! It's beautiful!

this is a delightful perfume and one that deserves to be more widely known. It is also the perfume that made me realise "aha, so THAT is oakmoss" and enabled me to then recognise it in other perfumes. It feels quite straightforward on the skin, deceptively so, it settles quickly into a comfortable, cool scent that feels like another layer of clothing, it just feels sort of "right" on your skin. The interesting thing I have found, is that I thought this would be perfect for layering to add depth to lighter or more "high pitched" scents, to add ground to sweet scents etc, and what I have actually found is that although when worn alone it feels quite light, when layered with even heavy scents, it just kind of throws itself over them, and this is what comes through. I find that quite fascinating! It feels so quite worn alone, yet always asserts itself and comes out strongest when layering. I have tried layering it recently with my sample of Jean Patou Chaldee (new version) which is gorgeous but just doesn't last, I thought my layering would add quiet depth to chaldee but in actual fact chaldee adds a hint of lightness to Driftwood! Its a beautiful yet unnecessary combo! Driftwood is totally unisex, it lingers slightly on the masculine side at first then settles into something that does not require gender. Unobtrusive yet quitely assertive, cool in tone but warm in comfort and invitation, gentle sillage and moderate longevity, this is worth sampling.
