Lilac Wine

This is very very good! Crisp, warm and fresh. I would say it is more on the masculine side, the lavender notes mixed with cedar and violet is perfect. I really hope this brand gets more attention!

A beautiful gentelman scent, really classy

I love Tom Ford Lavender Extreme, but can’t bring myself to spend that much for Tom Ford. Lilac Wine was a blind buy based on the notes and upon smelling it I was instantly reminded of Lavender Extreme. It’s not an exact match, but definitely close enough to feel really great about buying this perfume and saving $330 to achieve a similar vibe.

Smell like fresh southing lavender dried down with sweet violet and glum but really suttle

The perfume begins with an interesting choice: rather than translating the literal elements found in the title, it seeks to transform the emotional atmosphere of the performance into a scent. Those expecting a wine accord or the characteristic aroma of the lilac flower will likely be surprised (or disappointed). Its olfactory pyramid features lavender, violet, and plum in the top notes; a cognac accord, clary sage, and freesia in the heart; and cedar, musk, and moss in the base. The result is an extremely well-rounded, elegant, and comfortable floral-aromatic-woody fragrance. The composition evolves seamlessly, with a delicately powdery violet taking center stage, while the sage imparts a highly distinct, refined, and almost meditative aromatic character. Gradually, a clean, enveloping musk takes hold of the skin, supported by understated woods and a slight earthiness that adds depth to the composition. There is also a detail that particularly caught my attention: Lilac Wine shares an aromatic-fougère DNA that immediately reminded me of the classic Dolce&Gabbana Pour Homme (1994). Not because there is a direct similarity between the two fragrances, but because of the feeling they convey. Both rely on specific notes to construct a sophisticated, understated, and timeless masculinity. It is one of those fragrances that feels familiar from the very first spray. The melancholic aspect, on the other hand, is brilliantly crafted. Right at the start of the song, Jeff Buckley sings: "I lost myself on a cool damp night" and "I gave myself in that misty light". It is precisely this atmosphere that the fragrance seems to capture. There is something contemplative about its entire evolution—like a cold, rainy day when time slows down and everything seems to shift to a different pace. It is a serene, elegant, and introspective melancholy—far closer to Jeff Buckley’s interpretation than to any dramatic reading of the song. Curiously, my main reservation lies precisely in the expectations raised by the name. The cognac accord listed in the official pyramid barely registers—missing those oak nuances that would have added texture. Personally, I had hoped for a boozier facet, something capable of lending more personality and contrast to the composition. Likewise, the fragrance does not attempt to replicate the olfactory impression of wine or the lilac flower. The choice is clearly conceptual: to interpret the song rather than illustrate its title. Viewed from the perspective of 2026, Lilac Wine may not impress with its innovation. Its style speaks directly to the trends that dominated High Perfumery in 2017. While the perfumer executes the concept with great competence, the scent is unlikely to surprise anyone already familiar with that olfactory repertoire. Ultimately, however, that may well have been Frank Voelkl’s intention. Lilac Wine translates the emotion evoked by the song—an elegant, introspective, and quietly nostalgic fragrance that chooses to turn feelings into scent rather than literally illustrating the song’s title. It may lack the boldness suggested by its name, but it certainly does not lack sensitivity.

i know it's named after a song but how does a perfume called lilac wine have no lilac in it? disappointing really.

theres something really familiar about this one. soapy, musky lavender - usually not my thing, but its nice.
