Carpe Diem

The first few minutes of this evoke a strong, almost overwhelming childhood memory of eating some kind of sweets out on a blanket in grass under a sunny blue sky. What the treat was, I can’t remember .. it is just at the tip of my tongue. Or my brain, as we say. Something like a cakey pear and marzipan laced with lemony cream. Or maybe a type of gelato or ribbon candy. The feeling of innocence this memory brings with it is so intense it could almost bring tears to my eyes, especially given today’s far from innocent world. It’s true nostalgia. For this experience alone I would buy this scent, even though it’s not a style of perfume I normally feel drawn too. After a few minutes pass the fragrance becomes the version of itself it will remain as for the next 5 hours or so. It’s very linear, and looking at the notes it must be designed that way. A sweet and lightly spicy pear on top of a bed of musky salty hyacinth with drippings of vanilla sauce. All is light and gauzy and also there’s an interesting tinge of plastic. Nothing to be offended by, perfectly pleasant, but not on the level of that evocative top which honestly created feelings in me that hung around all day.

It's a cheerful pear-centric scent with distinctive green notes that remind me of SJP Covet, and hyacinth presence. CD is a bit too linear for my taste, though (I believe it's the curse of modern perfumery).
