Sucre Noir

For me Sucre Noir is TOP tier. If you love sugar or vanilla and especially them together, you have to get your hands on this. This definitely smells more like sugar than vanilla though. The orchid here plays a bit of a waxy vibe which smells like sugar that is sticky and warmed up. Imagine you pouring sugar from a sugar bag into a sugar bowl and the powder residue from the sugar engulfs your face. I seriously cannot get enough of this. It’s linear which is so perfect because I wanted just a straight through and through sugar scent. I find it lasts awhile on clothing however it dissipates quickly on skin. Sucre Noir radiates more in the warmer temperatures however it’s more suitable in the cooler temperatures since the sweetness can get a bit cloying which I don’t mind at all🤭. I wore Sucre Noir during a night out and I had few men ask me what fragrance I was wearing and the comments I received were funny. As if they have never smelt anything like this and they were in absolute awe 🤭. I have three bottles (that’s how much I love this fragrance) from different batches and the newer batch is not as strong as the older batch so just let the juice marinate a bit and it will come to life. Honestly I think it’s blind buy worthy if you love Mazzolari Vaniglia, St. Barths Vanille West Indies, Ahwaz Helwa or Outremer Vanille. Gimme all the sugar! 3 backup bottles approved!

I love this fragrance so much, that I struggled to find the right thing to say. This is, like Penguin said, a Holy Grail vanilla scent. I am a gourmand lover, and I've participated in all of the vanilla themed weeks called Vanillapalooza. I've worn vanillas since I was little, and it's one of my favorite notes. I feel like I "know" vanillas and let me tell you that this one sweeps me off my feet. The notes sound simple, but the effect is deep and decadent, thick and rich. I wore it as my "date" perfume last night. I am really beginning to like this guy and I wanted something super feminine that stood out. I wanted something simple and comforting, but also beautiful and inviting. This was absolutely perfect!! It's the kind of perfume that says, "I'm all woman. I'm warm, soft, strong, beautiful and sexy as hell." This perfume turns heads, but most importantly, made my date keep sniffing my wrists again and again saying, "Wow, that smells amazing!" This is thicker and richer than VC&A Orchidee Vanille, deeper and more vanillafied than I Profumi di Firenze Vaniglia de Madagascar, and sweeter than Indult Tihota. It has the same silage and sweetness as Profumum Roma Acqua et Zucchero. It's similar in feel to Il Profumo Vanille Bourbon, but with an orchid and floral vanilla bean rather than the bourbon vanilla beans in Vanille Bourbon.

I often use whole vanilla beans in my baking and candy making. After scrapping the "caviar" out of the pod I toss the left over in a mason jar of sugar. This perfume smells exactly like my jar of vanilla infused sugar. This is excellent quality juice, longevity is great and the sillage is wonderful. The comments from other people standing around me are priceless. Everybody thinks someone is cooking, they never assume it is a perfume. Also, you can't over spray. The other day I was in a little pain and went nuts, spritzing myself like 10 times with this juice (I didn't leave my house that day). It didn't smell weird like some perfumes when you spray too much, it just projected more than normal. _____________________________ After a side-by-side comparison with Tihota, I noticed there is a soft touch of a powdery flower in Sucre Noir and it also smells sweeter. They both have that cotton candy vanilla (ethyl maltol?), but Tihota smells like it has a bit of a grounding, robust bourbon vanilla in it and SN has a flower that makes it feel light and fluffy. No musky smell in SN like the one present in Tihota- which reminded me of Narciso Rodriguez for her. SN also seems more concentrated, the initial alcohol "burns off" quicker, and it's longevity and sillage is stronger than Tihotas.

This scent is absolutely gorgeous. I would put it up there with Indult Tihota as a "Holy Grail" vanilla. However, I personally don't smell any of the listed orchid, and when I asked my contact at Arte Profumi what the main notes were, she said, "sugar, vanilla, and vanilla flower." In any case, this is pure sugary vanilla sweetness, and it is yum, yum, and YUM! It never fails to garner compliments, and the sillage can be as soft or as strong as you want it to be (depending on how much you spray). But as sweet as it is, it is not cloying or offensive. In fact, one of my male co-workers who has NEVER commented on ANYONE's perfume in six years walked into the room where I was and said, "What is that smell? Did someone bring cupcakes?" I said no, but it might be my perfume. He smelled my wrist and said, "That's it! That smells amazing! Just like a white cupcake with vanilla frosting." And that pretty much describes this simple, yet so beautifully composed fragrance. I also enjoyed other reviewers' comparisons to vanilla-infused sugar...I have never tried that, but I imagine it must taste just like Sucre Noir smells. The longevity is amazing on this scent, and it also layers well because of its pure organic sweetness. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

This is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Sucre Noir is very very nicely done! So glad to finally have acquired this baby in my collection!! Mind you, I l-o-v-e a good vanilla perfume. This one is definitely all the way vanilla but there is a slight floral aspect to it that makes it mesmerizing. Unlike its name (Dark Sugar or Black Sugar), I do not find any darkness to it. At least, on my skin, it smells bright and joyful...it’s floral, sugary and sweet and fluffy like cotton candy. The longevity is really good, at least 10 hours, sillage and projection are good too. You’ll leave a trail but it isn’t the sort of trail that chokes people around you. It’s pricy, for sure but I paid for a very good vanilla fragrance and I am enjoying it immensely! This, to me, can be worn anytime of the year. I love it especially in the Fall but I definitely wear vanilla in the hot days of Summer as well. Does this remind me of other vanilla fragrances out there? Yes, yes of course it does! And yes, I already own Vaniglia by Mazzolari, Vanille West Indies Ligne St. Barth, and Vanille Outremer...Is it redundant? Irrevocably yes! But guess what? I cannot have enough good quality vanilla perfumes.

Who is the perfumer? Who is it? Because I must send them my firstborn child LOL. Seriously, this beauty right here! I can't even formulate my words! Forgive me for screaming, but YES GAWD! Hits every single sweet-loving neuron in my olfactive system and I am nose-gasming for real! This is art. The simplicity of this, the beauty of these sweet notes merging into each other... I know this sounds overdramatic, but truly, I'm undone. Full stop, I'm digging into my savings account for this beauty. Oh and I'm getting a sample of Tihota posthaste because if it's even better than this, bury me in it because I will be deceased! :) EDIT: I meant to update this a while ago because I did finally get a sample of Tihota and again excuse it please, but YAAAAASSSS QUEEEEEN! I still adore Sucre Noir, but I lie at the feet of Queen Tihota! Sucre Noir is clearly an attendant, though, and such a beauty, but Tihota is the next level.

This is a gorgeous, thick, rich, but extremely simple vanilla. It smells like the vanilla-infused sugar I handmade by taking two full vanilla bean pods, splitting them open, and pouring pure white cane sugar over them in a jar, shaking gently and then sitting in a dark cupboard for a few months. Pure sugary vanilla sweetness. While the notes list orchid, I do not get it here like in the unsurpassed Van Cleef Vanille Orchidee. Some of my favorites like Tihota - more creamy - or Memoire Liquide Amour Liquide - more nutty - are quite similar. There are many to choose from, but you should add this to your search for the best, uncomplicated vanilla.

Sucre Noir Extrait is available to purchase at Jovoy! Sucre Noir Extrait smells more like a sweeter version of Vanille West Indies - gooey warm vanilla cake. Sucre Noir EDP is just confectionary sugar. Longevity and sillage is better than the EDP and VWI. It’s oil based so you have to dab on the fragrance (doesn’t come with an atomizer). I hate that the extrait is €180 for 30ml because I know I’m going to go through this like water! Why do I have such good and expensive taste😭😂

I don't know what it is, but this is the most beautiful vanilla fragrance I have ever smelled. So cozy, rich and long lasting. On my skin is absolutely wonderful. Maybe is the orchid, maybe is the sugarcane... I wanna hug it and taste it, at the same time. So beautiful. It can be mixed with any fragrance. Tip: if is stronger than the fragrance you are mixing it with, spray it first. If you wanna mix it with something very strng, spray it after the stronger one.

A smooth jazz kind of scent. It's my favorite. It's my " I don't care to make an impression scent" (which is probably far too often). It's not really a gourmand nor a floral but that orchid is beeee-yooo-tiful. The orchid here is sweet and rich. Yes, it's vanilla but not a screechy or false vanilla and the orchid hangs in there. Not a boardroom scent. Not sexy enough to be a date night scent. It's an unapologetic just because I feel like wearing it scent.

The actual name = Sucre Noir Vaniglia. Fabulous sweet creamy rich VANILLA heaven w/ hints of caramelized sugar. Nothing particularly 'noir' about this. Very yummy. A must for vanilla/gourmand lovers. 💕 Nuances are very subtle but very similar to Mazzolari Vaniglia, Vanille West Indies Ligne St. Barth, Tihota (w/o the musky), Outremer Vanilla. Best advice is to test to find which vanilla your nose and brain likes, people perceive things differently.

I have a generous decant of this beauty, thank you so much Magdalena!!! And oh my goodness, I love it so much! It's warm, cosy and sweet without being overwhelming. Everytime I catch a whiff of it, I swoon internally. It's the real deal vanilla - pods, not artificial sweetener and just personally, if I smelt this on someone, I think I would really want to be around them. LOVE!

My opinion: I have found a Tihota alternative🥰 Sucre Noir is creamy potent vanilla tha my reminds me of cocoa butter. I received a sample earlier today and have worn it for about 8 hours..I sprayed my skin and clothes (about 3 spray mists) and I can still enjoy the scent..It’s just wonderful and cozy and I will be investing in a full bottle based on performance and enjoyment🥰🥰

Why ain’t nobody think this smells like Thai Milk Tea?!?! My goodness I’m in love! My sister in law made a warm cup of that drink and her 5 year old daughter said it reminded her that it smelled of me 🥰 My jaw dropped cos that’s exactly how I would describe it if people ask bout the scent.

this is quite the beauty! simplicity at its finest. the vanilla is so airy and gently warm. the sugar softly melts into the orchid petals, similar to the concept of maybe a candied rose. almost powdery and comes across as marshmallowy. very skin and musky esque. i love this

This is the perfect confectionery vanilla on me! It’s everything I hoped for with Tihota Indult and Mazzolari Vaniglia (neither of these were lasting on my skin). It’s a pure, unadulterated vanilla like Montale Vanille Absolue without the alcohol blast. It’s a keeper!!!

I literally fell in love OMG. This fragrance smells SO GOOD, like little marshmallows and sugar, you also get the vanilla note. It's so gourmand and yummy and even smells like a cupcake with a milky side. Who ever said that it smells like lucky charms is really right !!

Qu'il est beau ... ! Vanille et sucre un parfum hyper simple dans sa composition mais tellement magnifique, avec ca on a envie de vous croquer. Attention il projette peu , c'est comme une seconde peau , mais ceux qui s'approche de vous tomberont comme des mouches 😏

I first discovered Forbidden Sugar by Paris Corner which is an 80% dupe of this fragrance down to the bottle design. Sucre Noir can't be touched. The smooth sugar notes with light floral notes are not successfully duplicated.

Smells like Amour de Cacao from compoir Sud Pacifique or Serendipitous from serendipity3. It smells really good but you can find the same scent for cheaper, if you have either of those you don't need this.

Staple vanilla for me. Very similar to vaniglia but there's just something here that I gravitate towards more. Smells like a sugared pure vanilla pod. Back up worthy

This is a lightweight, plain vanilla with sugar and a little musk. This smells like vanilla cake. Likable, but very simple. I need more richness and complexity. In the realm of edible vanillas, Mazzolari's Vaniglia is 99% the same but has a smidge of more sugary fluffiness. Jousset's Accident a la Vanille is similar but with a silky, buttery popcorn note. My favorite remains Maison Mataha's Escapade Gourmande, which has a deeper bourbon vanilla, caramelized sugar and smells like flan. In the realm of non edible vanillas, M.Micallef's Note Vanillee is a deep bourbon vanilla but has a slightly piercing white floral note. Indult's Tihota is a nice and simple creamy musky white vanilla that's easy to wear. Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille is more complex, floral and incensy. But my favorite would be Tiziana Terenzi's Dionisio, which is a more seductive, musky, animalic white chocolate vanilla. Smell: 8 out of 10 Longevity: 7 out of 10 Feminine For reference, I'm female.

I have problems with some very expensive vanillas going "dusty" on me. Many in the *reminds me of* list do this. This one doesn't. It's a pure vanilla sugar on me, I don't get any floral, no powder. Straight vanilla and cube sugar. If it was sold in smaller amounts or about $80 less, I'd buy. As it is, I'd never use 100 mls of anything so not on my wish list unless I find a killer deal. Great quality, though. Edit: 1.5 hours in the powdery floral notes come forth and wow. Lovely. The vanilla still hasn't faded, just the additions have bloomed. This is good folks, but darn it, I won't use 100 mls of it and I don't like doing decants. I hate doing decants. I guess it's going on my spreadsheet. Probably Christmas, unless Lucky Scent has a great coupon.

I was looking for a perfect gourmand vanilla and came across Sucre Noir. It definitely delivers on the vanilla! It’s vanilla extract but in a very sweet and not boozy way. The sweetness is strong and amped up more so by the sugar. I love the initial spray, when it settles there is something slightly funky in the background, i guess that would be the orchid but it’s not floral, it reminds me of a candy bead (the powdery candy bracelets from the 90s). I personally love it but you have to have a high tolerance for sweetness for this for sure. It's also quite pricy for what it is.

This is definitely a candy sweet vanilla. Pretty linear but there's something refined about it. It's got a cotton candy vibe without being fruity so it does remind me slightly of Aquolina Pink Sugar at first, but FAR more sophisticated. Later it mellows into just the purest vanilla extract aroma. If you're into candy sweet fragrances, this would definitely be a keeper. It's not loud or cloying. That's part of its charm. It sits closer to the skin but it is addictive. I find myself leaning in for a sniff of my wrist constantly. Definitely worth a try for vanilla lovers!

I rarely complain about vanilla, especially when it’s a deep, warm enveloping scent like Sucre Noir. If you like or love vanilla, this should be on your sample list. That said, I still like—price wise and scent—Vanille West Indies Ligne St. Barth better. I think the St. Barth vanilla is more complex with less calories. Linear but that’s never a deal breaker, and with very good performance. But Vanille West Indies is also a stronger performer on my skin. Still, I would gladly wear Sucre Noir with zero complaints...minus the moans from my bank account.

I would like this if I could smell it; unfortunately it smells just like a completely neutral oil (I got the Extrait dabber version from Jovoy). It's sooooo disappointing, I thought I was going to get a nice, strong Tihota-like scent. I just got it so will let it sit and see if it deepens over time. I hope so! Otherwise I will use this as a stupidly expensive body oil and keep it in the bathroom for after the shower. 😥

This one isn’t very strong and I faintly smell it on my skin. All I smell is sweet and vanilla, no powder or floral, which I like. It’s very similar to outreemer’s vanille. With a $250 price tag, I’ll stick with outreemer vanille. It’s stronger and cheaper.

i don’t throw away my scraped vanilla pods. add the used pods to your sugar jar... et voila... beautiful fragrant vanilla sugar! this smells just like a jar of vanilla sugar... crispy sugar with lovely vanilla. not sticky sweet, just nice...

smells EXACTLY like Vanille Mokha by CSP. It’s a very sweet and light vanilla, very nice !

High quality sugar and vanilla. Very faint though.

As others have pointed out, this has a lot of similarities to Vanille Outremer, just several hundreds of dollars more expensive, with a more chic presentation. It's a nice, warm, soft vanilla that's very sheer and light and turns into the usual waffles and sugar canes as it warms on the skin. I like it but it is what it is. Personally, I think there are better luxury vanilla perfumes out there that I would rather spend my money on. My recommendation: buy a sample, or maybe just one bottle every now and then.

I think this subclass of vanillas just isn't really for me. I don't really see a discernable difference between this, Vaniglia, Vanille West Indies, and Outremer's Vanille. They're all just a little too sweet, like cotton candy. I'm still looking for my perfect vanilla. They're either too sweet, too smoky/salty, or too boozy! Sweeter and a touch "fruitier" than Tihota and Fire at Will vanillas.

It’s a lovely scent. Not too hard to love if you are interested in sweet gourmand parfume. Very strong note of brown sugar. It’s remind me the stand of « barbapapa » and « pomme d’amour » of my childhood. Very good ingredients, but I think it’s very expensive for the complexity of this juice. I prefere « Insulo » of Jeroboam, very sexy, perfect for a diner night.

I'm mostly anosmic. 😭 I can barely smell this! I was expecting to smell a lot of sweet vanilla but I just did not initially. It actually took a couple of weeks of resting my sample for me to smell much of anything at all, so definitely not worth it for me. Now, I just smell an airy sweet vanilla that reminds me of all the others: solinotes, outremer etc. -

Smells 99% if not 100% exactly as Vanille Outremer. Medicinal opening, settles down as a cotton candy vanilla with still some medicinal touches. Sillage and projection is pretty poor. Longevity kind of good. Ridiculous price when you can get Vanille Outremer for like $20 which smells EXACTLY the same. Please don't buy this lol

I ordered samples from Vaniglia, Tihota and Sucre Noir expecting to like all of them. Sucre Noir is nice at first, but it has this one cloying note that makes me kinda headachy and nauseous. I love Vagnilia though, I bought a FB, and I can imagine buying a FB of Tihota too. I did not even revisited the sample of this one.

This was disappointing to me. I sprayed many times trying to get a significant presence and nothing. I discovered this perfume while sampling Escapade Gourmand. I thought it was a beautiful realistic vanilla and made Billie Eilish’s vanilla perfume seem slightly synthetic. Someone said Sucre Noir was better. The devil is liar. I get a ghostly presence of milky sugar. Leave this one alone.

I dont get the vanilla neither. It's a cotton candy/marshmallow bomb. I frist thought I liked it, on paper yeah I did. But it quickly gone wrong when I bought the sample.

I don't get vanilla at all. I get straight up nutty nuts, like a straight praline or almond. Which is weird as there is no nut in the scent profile.

سوکخه نواغ ( قند سیاه) نمایشی ساده از وانیل شیرین شده با شدت خیلی زیاد بطور کلی داره . شروعی شیرین و سنگین مثل بوی پشمک یا شکر کاراملایز شده که با وانیل طعم دار شده . شدت شیرینی در شروع بیش از حد زیاده ولی عطر دل انگیز وانیل قالب میشه بعد از چند دقیقه که بوی وانیل واقعی رو داره بوی غلاف وانیل طبیعی که بسیار عمیق و معطر و کمی تلخ هست . ولی تو این عطر شیرینی قالب میشه به طعم وانیل. و بعد از نیم ساعت عطر وانیل میمونه که شیرین هست . تو قلب عطر کور سویی از بوی گل هم هست . که اندکی حس پودری میده مثل بوی گل میموزا یا از خانواده گل‌های زرد که تلخ و معطرهستند . ولی نباید و نمیشه اسم فلورال رو برای این عطر آورد . همه آنچیزی که حس میشه وانیل و وانیل و وانیل هست . که طعمی شیرین داره. مثل لذت طعم کرم روی کاپوچینو . شیرین و خوشمزه و معطر. .گرچه عطر کیفییت و پرفورمنس خیلی خوبی داره . ولی ی عطر وانیلی و گورماند و خوشمزه و ساده هست که میشه با قیمتی خیلی کمتر تو مارکهای دیگه هم داشت . کلاس بویایی این ترکیب با قیمت این عطر همخونی نداره. عطر حس کاملا یونی داره و مختص محض برای خانمها نیست ‌ . اقایونی که طرفدار روایح گورماند و وانیلی هستند حتما از این عطر لذت خواهند برد .

Just a quick note to the reviewer below me - Vanilla is actually a species of orchid, so in this case, Orchid is entirely accurate ^_^ I keep a wide variety of orchids, and many of them have a strong vanilla note to their flowers. There's even a few fragrances out there that people complain of having a 'synthetic, rubbery vanilla' note in them, (Sweet Oriental Dream by Montale comes to mind), when in fact many orchids in many families possess exactly this scent. Like a combination of hot balloon and vanilla. More puzzling to me are perfumes that simply list 'orchid' as a generic note. Orchid blooms can smell like almost anything - from rosey, to lemon, to rubber, tar, rotting meat and beyond!. I have a particular orchid that blooms with the unmistakable odour of coconut. I'll stop rambling now.

There are few reported notes, but it's definitely not a basic, sweet vanilla. It's more sugar than it is vanilla and I would also say it's a bit musky. But it's a soft musk, kind of like in the Narciso Rodriguez fragrances. It also reminds me of Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidee Vanille a bit, not to say that they're identical. It's that sugary vanillic orchid combination that just has a peculiar character. It can sometimes come across as slightly sour, and I'm not sure I'm a fan. This has a very high concentration of oils, but it seems I'm also partially nose-blind to this as several others have reported. So it's not that the fragrance doesn't project, it does. You absolutely need to test this before you buy. I have given it second and third chances, but it's just not working out.

I want this more than anything else in the world (well, I'd really like worldwide peace, but....). Can someone please tell me how to get some? I've written an email to the address someone shared below but haven't gotten a response. I'm about to have another back surgery and want to get this as a recovery present for myself but I'm running out of time! Can someone help? I'm in the US. I've checked at Lucky Scent, on eBay, Amazon, etc. I also check regularly here in the swap section though I'm sure no one would want to give theirs up in a swap, lol! I've tested so many vanillas but not this one and so of course, it's this one I obsess over! I'd be so grateful if someone could tell me a way to get a bottle. Thanks so much!

The perfect vanilla for those who want a simplistic tooth achingly sweet vanilla without being irritatingly sweet if that makes sense! The best and closest comparison in terms of the type of vanila that i would make and bearing in mind that Sucre Noir is superior in quality, longevity and sillage is: Alyssa Ashley Vanilla. Sucre Noir is not a caramel, boozy, musky, floral or fruity vanilla. This is a straight up sugary sweet vanilla. No creamy milkiness but just a simple high quality non complex scent that remains fairly similar from start to finish with fabulous sillage as well as longevity. Its truly beautiful but in small doses if you are sensitive to vanilla fragrances.

if you took this, vaniglia by mazzolari, and vanille west indies by st. barth and did a comparison, i promise you i would not be able to tell the difference. you only need one of them, if you can try one and you like the smell, just get whichever of the three is more accessible or cheaper. i have vaniglia because i bought it before i heard about the other two. i like the scent but it can get very very cloying, and i’m a vanilla lover so that’s saying a lot. kind of regret buying the full bottle now but what can ya do 🤷♀️ just don’t overspray.

Sucre Noir smells just like Vanille West Indies Ligne St. Barth, so if you have one, you don't need the other. Sucre Noir is very linear, so what you first apply is what you will smell for hours and hours until it's gone. It's pricey for what it is, IMO, and what it is is a tooth-achingly sweet confection of sugary and vanillic caramel. No more, no less. It will definitely be beloved by all those who prefer those types of scents. I like them, too, but only when I'm in the mood--not on a daily basis. It for sure smells delicious and lickable!

I could barely smell this on myself even when I drenched myself in my little sample; however apparently other people could. One family member came in my room and said "it smells like muffins in here" and someone else asked me when I was in the kitchen if I was making french toast. Not sure if I want people to think I smell like muffins, french toast, or other baked goods haha. I did like the scent of it though, and apparently its not as weak as I thought since everyone around me seemed to smell it.
