Light of Ormuz

Light of Ormuz was launched in 2012 and its inspiration – as well as its name – came from the splendor of the ancient Persian god Ormuz. The ancient Persian religion, known as Masdeism, was characterized by the duality between good and evil, forces represented by the gods Ormuz (Ahura-Mazda) and Arimã (Angra Mainyu). To create this mystical fragrance, the perfumer used notes of mint, citrus, and accord of clear waters on the top of the olfactory pyramid. In the center of the composition, spicy and herbal notes create aromatic nuances, while the base brings cedarwood and vetiver notes embraced by the creaminess of the tonka bean. On the skin, Light of Ormuz is a perfume capable of causing impact and strangeness, as well as its concept of duality. At first, I expected a lot more presence of a strong minty smell, but I ended up feeling a fresh and slightly spicy output. It is as if everything starts from the body notes and the mint functions only as a dome that keeps the fragrance fresher. At times, I remembered the nuances left by the chamomile in the Flower’s Barrow fragrance (Gorilla Perfumes). The evolution is slow and, for this reason, it takes a long time for the woody base to reveal itself, bringing complex facets of a creamy, balsamic, and tobacco-type tonka bean. At this point, I no longer know how to define this fragrance with caution. Is it aromatic, spicy, or fougère? In particular, I find Light of Ormuz more suitable for the male audience, although it is a product made for both genres. Its performance is very good and tends to be deceiving, exhaling a lot as the body moves, especially with the increase in body temperature. From my own experience, I can say that it is a fragrance that conquers over time. I didn't like it very much the first time, but I changed my opinion according to the number of times I wore it. Furthermore, as I mentioned before, it is a very different composition. I don't know if the term innovator reflects what I think, so I prefer to say that it is unusual, or rather, atypical.
