Majd Al Sultan

TL;DR: spectacular incense and resins, with some smoke for the first 90 minutes, perfect for incense lovers, and £19 delivered. A complete steal. Remarkable. ********************************** I dropped and smashed the bottle containing the last 10ml of Gucci Pour Homme 1 (Almairac). When I was released from the National Recovery Centre for the Over-Dramatic, I went on a bit of a pilgrimage to look for something that wasn't just a copy of GPH (Bentley, Papyrus will do that), but which took some of that and showed me other incense voyages I could go on. Enter Majd al Sultan. Wow. I didn't instantly like/love it, but I stayed in conversation with it. The payoff has been remarkable. It opens sweet - and that's a note/theme I genuinely hate in scents of the last 20-odd years. However, that goes in about 15 seconds, and it becomes dry. It's also oud free. Halle-f&^%ing-lujah. No sweetness, no oud! And from a Middle Eastern scent! Fragrantica's notes that members can vote for are often complete guff (for example, you can't vote for vetiver in Roger and Gallet's Vetyver, and yet you are allowed to vote for pebbles in CK2. Pebbles, FFS). However, here they're spot on. The first five 'I can smell this in the scent' notes that Fragranticans have voted for contain three resins (myrrh, 'resins' and amber), and two types of smoke (incense and smoke). Yup. That is completely accurate. For incense lovers, this scent is really, genuinely interesting and engaging. It's not quite 'churchy' like Heeley/Cardinal or Comme des/Avignon, but it's on the brink of that (while being quite unique). It's also very dynamic. Black pepper dances around in the background, moving in and out of camera-shot. There is a tobacco aspect, but that blends into smoke too. It flits about, like the pepper. The pine/fir... well, if about 20 people below me claim it's there, I'm not going to say it isn't...but it's subtle. In fact, I think I might like it more if it were stronger. It's not 'like' Gucci Pour Homme 1, but it is a ticket to a similarly fantastic journey. [Breaks out into, 'A Whole New World,' from Aladdin...] Finally, it brings some wood in the deep dry down. Some people below say, 'don't blind buy.' But this is idiotic. First, where are you going to test a £19 Middle Eastern scent? Second, this is very obviously a straight-up-and-down incense, resin, smokey delight, and you can get 100ml delivered to your door for £19. Why on earth are you even contemplating buying this, if you don't like myrrh, resins, incense, smoke? It's silly to buy it, get exactly what you paid (remarkably little) for, and then start with complaints. Incense lovers, go for it. It's £19, and gets compared to several expensive 'niche' incense/smoke scents in the comments below. That's the league it's playing in. So... give it a shot. The bottle is covered in velvet. Gross. Faux luxe. But then, it comes from the land of bling, the veritable Heimat of the nouveau riche, so maybe we should just shut the F up about it, and respect difference.

However, this bold introduction is short-lived. There is a swift transformation into something far smoother — becoming buttery, warm, and ultimately, quite comforting. The dry down is exceptionally creamy — sweet yet dark; fresh yet hazy. It exudes depth and richness, with a syrupy, almost balsamic quality. The scent evokes sawn wood resinous notes from conifer trees, paired with ambery vanilla, striking a luxurious balance of richness. Majd al Sultan is a completely unisex fragrance, maintaining a spicy, peppery, and smooth tone throughout its longevity. In my opinion, it definitely does not have the ecclesial sentiment some people mentioned; instead, it features a sweet incense vibe, not the church-like kind — there's no religious undertone here. This scent has an ability to evoke sensory memories, feelings of being in an ancient, mysterious place, or perhaps an antique shop, and even stirs associations with Christmas holiday warmth. At times, it recalls the atmosphere of a heated Finnish sauna, bottled and ready to be experienced at any moment. Despite being impressively blended, creating a polished and pleasant experience, the fragrance remains somewhat linear. Although, it's a budget-friendly scent that could easily pass for something far, far more expensive. This fragrance is incredibly strong and long-lasting, yet it manages to avoid overwhelming the senses due to its elegant dry down. The bottle, with its comically gaudy design, adds a special touch. Its velvety texture is unlike anything I've seen before, and I find this quirky charm appealing. It complements the scent's personality. For fans of this smoky-sweet-spicy scent family from Lattafa, it is denser and more intense than Ameer al Oudh Intense Oud, less animalic than Oudain, and less woody than Raghba Wood Intense. Overall, this is a must-have for those who appreciate this type of fragrance DNA. Its strong yet smooth character, combined with its long-lasting power and unique scent profile, makes it a standout option in any collection. This definitely will not be for people who don't usually venture out into different scents. I like weird and wild scents and this goes there for me in a good comforting way. I got this one quite a while ago, maybe 6 months. I sprayed some in the box and let it sit. I also wrist tested it but didn't really make up an opinion about it from that. I can just say I smelled things shooting it in the box that were worrisome. Rubber for one (that doesn't seem to come out on my skin) and basement fire sale vibes ...that "it's been in a fire" note. I'm about an hour into wearing this . Its close to christmas and cold so I was wearing my winter coat in to work and could smell the smokiness coming from under my scarf. The notes are pretty much like the note graph above to me right now. Smoky Woody Spicy Warm Amber sweet that doesn't dominate on me. a maybe almost cinnamon note? A very tiger balm type linament note that fades away quickly in the dry down. I'm really glad that my first middle eastern type scent is a very pleasant one for me. I actually just changed my LIKE to LOVE vote on this while huffing it on me and writing this review. I think this is a very rich and thicker type scent. Wearing this every day for me would be too much but it is very relaxing...oddly like being by a firepplace in some ways. Pardon the cliche relation to a known perfume that I have never smelled. The woody spiciness is very nice. It's definitely smoky and sweet. Very very pleasantly middle eastern. I don't usually talk about packaging but the velvet box and bottle are over the top, but when you think about it the scent itself is a velvety comforting scent so a possible theme comes out of it. Buy with caution and awareness that this is different. Clearly by the votes it is much loved and I understand why personally. A real deal cheapie. Worth more than the price. I have worn this more than a few times now and I have to say it gives a bit of a holiday season vibe and would probably sit well with the tobacco vanille wearers. (I personally don't like TV but I find it similar to this for some odd reason)

OK, let me dig into this review! This is my first middle eastern cheapie and it will NOT be my last. The quality and pay off of this scent is phenomenal! I love wood scents, they're my fav and what I gravitate towards. After buying this I feel like selling my Ebene Fume...Majd Al Sultan is more elegantly blended, projects better, and is all around more enjoyable. Majd Al Sultan is woody and smooth with a touch of sweetness; it's balanced impeccably well. If you compare this to Dime Dans les Bois that scent has a sugary sweetness that overpowers the whole profile. Ebene Fume is rich, it's woody, but I always felt like something was missing, like it wasn't quite perfect. It has a strange undertone (some people describe that typical TF smell...) but THIS ONE RIGHT HERE is the winner for me. SO smooth and elegant. It really smells like a fresh cut cedar tree in the best possible way. Like your fantasy dream of the scent of a golden cedar tree. NOW I know this doesn't literally have a cedar note, I'm just picking the most majestic evergreen tree I know of. Anyhow, it's gorgeous. As soon as I opened the perfume I cleared the sprayer by spraying into the open box. Then I sprayed once on my chest and was careful not to keep spraying even though I loved the smell right off the bat. I was getting wifs all evening and LOVING it! It's long lasting and stays consistently strong on the skin. As a serious lover of wood notes, this is signature scent worthy to me. What can I say! My dad was a logger so I grew up smelling fresh cut timber and wood chips haha. If you are like me and sweet, smoky, wood scents please you, order this. It's only $30! Amazing, I am very happy. *By the way, I dislike vanilla and I'm glad I don't get any in Majd Al Sultan. Update 6/18/23 this really smells like a balsam fir log in the campfire, the end of the log in indirect heat and the resins are bubbling to the surface. also I DO get vanilla now but it's blended to perfection.

I can see why some compare this with MMM By the Fireplace but whereas I absolutely HATED the MMM, this is absolutely stunning. By the Fireplace is like someone poured sticky molasses all over a fire and the syrup is burning now. It’s quite two dimensional, too sweet, way in your face, and I personally found it unbearable. It’s also not surprising that it’s sold in Sephoras- it’s not terribly unique or sophisticated. But, this stuff is so amazing. I'm no snob so I've tried my share of cheapies and usually they are disappointing. They are generally watered down, uninteresting, or smells flat because of cutting corners with ingredients, etc. So, when I started seeing some really interesting reviews on Youtube about these cheapie middle eastern perfumes, I was skeptical. I've so far tried Shaghaf Oud, Oud Aswad, Sheikh Al Shuyuk, and now this one. Unbelievably, they are all so good and so impressive. This one especially. Like one of the reviewers said this straight up smells like a Tom Ford or, more likely, a Serge Luten. I've been looking for a great conifer scent and really love Fille en Aiguilles (FEA) but it's impossible to find at a reasonable price. Majd al Sultan is not a dupe in any way, but it scratches the conifer itch and MORE! I actually prefer this to FEA. In addition, this is so unique. It's deeper, more projection, and more interesting. The combination of incense, myrrh, conifers, smoke, and tobacco is absolutely intoxicating and so incredibly classy. It smells niche and I'm amazed that this is under $40. Great for layering too. As for projection, compared to other middle eastern scents, this one is not a beast. It's average in projection and sillage. 100% unisex. Highly recommend.

This scent opens up with a nice mix of freshly sawn solid and sawdusty wood that has some soft sweetness from the myrrh and a little of the fir peeking through that adds a slight woodsy fresh element. As it dries down, quite quickly a soft smokiness enters into the picture that mixes with the woodiness and soft warmth. It absolutely reminds me of being next to quite a realistic bonfire on a warm summers night at the beach. Amazing scent that’s so restful as it brings forth reminders and feelings of these fun weekend and holiday type occasions. The sawn wood aroma really is quite woody fir like (think much more woody than fresh) and perfectly balanced with a smokiness that’s a lot like the smell of the black charing of burnt wood you would smell had you accidentally rubbed up against it from a bonfire. And the warmth of myrrh and resins inducing the warm ambery glows of a burning fire. Lovely stuff and a Great winter warmer! For those looking for something more in the direction of Maison’s By The Fireplace, I would absolutely steer you more towards Lattafa’s Ameer Al Oudh Intense though. Ameer Al Oudh Intense very much has the toasty woody feel of this scent, but also has an added dose of much more vanilla that draws it closer to By The Fireplace. Majd Al Sultan definitely has the sawn wood and smokey facets, but the sweetness is more subtle and perhaps more realistic to a warm open bonfire, where as Ameer Al Oudh Intense leans more gourmand with its caramelised cream brulee undertones. All and all though this is lovely stuff and a real beauty for the quality it presents at such an affordable price.

I purchased this fragrance on the recommendation of a popular YouTuber, A Fragrant Glance. Majd Al Sultan by Asdaaf, a subsidiary of the parent company Lattafa. The packaging was classy and well designed & the bottle was eye-catching and unique in appearance! The gold on tan velvet looks stunning & the tall bottle feels great. The atomizer is smooth and generous and sprays a large fine mist.....quite impressive at this price point! Now onto the fragrance itself..... Upon spraying it onto my skin..I was immediately struck ( and pleased) by a very familiar note I had experienced once before. It most certainly is the exquisite aroma of Balsam Fir Absolute! It gives the soothing effects that can only be experienced when spending time within the realm of forests. It is sweet, rich, warm, and intensely balsamic with a coumarin-like undertone of excellent tenacity – exactly like the juicy-fresh smell of recently harvested young conifer trees. It adds depth and a mild sweetness. Intermingled within this.....there is a dry spicy note of black pepper.. If you have ever ground fresh peppercorns...and smelled that aroma, you may be able to pick up on this note quite easily. The smooth incense-like smoke is not overpowering...but is present and lends itself well to the whole of the composition..... Very Very well done & well blended Oriental scent profile! A very mysterious, brooding & dark composition that is truly unique. I am VERY satisfied with this...and love love love the Fir Balsam Absolute they used in this fragrance! Ive never smelled anything quite like it! The Verdict : EXCELLENCE

Sultry and mysterious niche quality perfume. Can Easily be priced at $170+ When I blind bought 'Majd Al Sultan' I was afraid it would be too similar to Lattafa's 'Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud' or churchy as some reviewers described. On my skin it's neither. This is mass appealing, because there are plenty of comparable fragrances. Basically a mish-mash of winter mainstream niche. I used to wear Byredo scents often, and the opening/mid of 'Majd Al Sultan' reminds me of '1996' and 'Baudelaire' by Byredo. Potential dupes! There's also Initio's 'Oud for Greatness' DNA present. It's EXTREMELY discernible in the dry down. If you've smelled 'Oud for Glory'/'Greatness' you will recognise the DNA instantly in 'Majd Al Sultan'. This is not conservative and ''churchy''. If you've ever travelled to the historical churches/cathedrals in Europe, the incense they use is very heavy, extremely waxy, musty and sweet to the point where it's almost pee-like. 'Majd al Sultan' does NOT smell like this at all! Prominent peppery spices! It's got this beautiful aromatic, green balsamic sweetness that compliments the incense and woods so well. Also has delicious tobacco facets that aren't gourmand. A woodier, less sweet version of 'Oud for Glory'. Verdict: An absolutely BEAUTIFUL, sensual masculine scent for the winter. Sweet, smoky, saffron, SUPER-woody with a dominant fir note. The handsome, woodsy, peppery big brother of Lattafa's 'Oud for Glory' with better longevity and projection.

I've recently blind bought this fragrance, regarding on the reviews here and the lots of videos on yt. I'm so glad to did this. I was serching for a unique, woody fragrance with incense, tobacco. I've tried many perfumes but non of them lasted for more than 1-2 hours, maybe some skinscents remained. (ok, i'm not into the "big league" but anyways...) I thought it's my skin sucks and I can't pick anything that lasts....until now! Forgive me, I don't have the words to describe the notes very well, but this thing rocks for me. The tobacco pepper combo kicks in immediately. Something chemical also for the first sniff, but it goes away after 2 minutes.Then it dries down very smooth and incense-burnt wood-dark-smokey stuff comes out and sneaks into your brain :) I love it. later on the sweetness, which is not too loud fortunately, with pine and smoke...Kinda addictive for me. I could smell it all day long. It's uisex, maybe more male, but I'm going to give it for my wife to test it also..let' see. After a day and a shower I can smell it around me, longetivity is great. Projection and sillage also on top for me. The velvety packaging, the bottle. Fits alltogether very well. The main thing inside is very luxury, unique, well blended with the exactly right amount of sweetness. Great job Lattafa/Asdaaf. Not to mention the price. I've paid 17$ fot this gem. Riddiculous. I'm considering to buy another 1-2 bottle, just to be sure :)

Armaf, Lattafa, Asdaaf etc etc I've become very cynical about budget/ clone houses, I have no problem in principle with clones per se but I always find the quality so inferior and the result so offensive that I'd almost given up on these houses.. welcome Asdaaf Majd al Sultan (which is not a clone of anything as far as I am aware). This fragrance is one of the best budget fragrances I have ever come across and it completely took me by surprise even though I'd read reviews about it - I didn't believe them!.. till I smelled it recently on Coventry Road, Brum. Wowzers. Genuinely could be in a Montale bottle ('Pine on Fire'?) and sold for £100+. Bottle is off course an acquired taste... They generally always are from Middle East brands. How does it smell?... Smells like you've put your nose on an evergreen forest floor covered in dry pine needles and wood debris in summer and you are smelling woody dry earthy pine-like scent with a whisper of wildfire burning in the distance. Quite realistic and doesn't smell nasty-synthetic. Not too much smoke, not too much of anything, just perfect. Full masculine in my opinion. If Bentley for Men Absolute is the carpenter in the sawmill then this cousin is the lumberjack in the summer scorched forest on the mountains....in somewhere like Lebanon probably. Just get it.

Majd Al Sultan is the closest thing to true incense smell that I came across so far. If you love incense like I do, you can certainly blind buy it. I put it on and it immediately gives me tranquility and a feeling that I'm sitting in a place of worship. What I love about it is that it is very balanced in terms of spiciness and sweetness, just like incense, which makes it very layering friendly. No green notes, no artificial sweetness, no leather, just the smell of burning myrrh or incenses in general. I have "Dehn Al Oud Malaki" by Swiss Arabian, and I layer it with Majd Al Sultan, both give a beautiful smoked oud smell (woody with honey sharp smell + animalic touch and spicy smokey incense - not for the faint hearted though). This can be layered with anything and it will instantly give it a smokey spicy dimension. It projects for at least 3 hours, then it takes about 8 hours for the dry down on skin and almost a full day on clothes, and it makes a nice and holy scent bubble. To my nose, the far dry down gives similar vibes to Whispers in the library than to By the fireplace (both by Maison Margiela), the smell of old leather cover books in a burned library, very beautiful. Lataffa is killing it lately. I really hope they don't discontinue this gem.

Oh yeah, this really is a great perfume, just like all the other reviewers say it is. I went from like to love on this within the first 4 hours, and it wasn't just the very reasonable price and the unexpected cotton velvety finish on the exterior of the bottle. Ignore that finish if you think it cheapens the bottle, but I just love it. The fragrance is a beautiful Middle Eastern spice experience, but what I noticed as it settled in is that it's not a bomb. It's there to make you feel great, not to blast everyone else out of the room. And don't let that alleged tobacco top note scare you off; I didn't notice it at all. And reviewer Experter doesn't think it's there anyway. I'll also go with some of the other notes in his assessment: coriander, juniper, and cardamon. They are definitely there, and lots of patchouli, along with the myrrh, incense, resins, fir, cedar and amber Fragrantica lists. There are lots of nuances to this perfume. Men will be unhappy that yet another woman (me), American yet, is wearing and loving this men's scent, but it's in the same realm as many of the Montale and Robert Piguet scents people consider unisex. More masculine than unisex maybe, but very wearable for those of us who love Middle Eastern scents.

This stuff is AMAZING for the price!!! The quality of the presentation and bottle are very nice also, but the juice is what matters most and this stuff does not disappoint. However I find that it definitely leans masculine, especially at the opening. As it dries down some a good bit of the spicy kick from first application dies down but in my opinion it still remains on the masculine side. But I can't get over the quality. In my personal opinion it is much, much better than Ameer Al Oudh Intense, but that is just personal preference. What is fact though is that this stuff has well above average projection and longevity and smells just as high quality as many of my high end designer fragrances and even matches several niche fragrances that I own. Its in the same realm as Sauvage Elixir without as much spice, without the licorice and lavender and add a little more sweetness. But the quality and smell of this firmly places it in that same general category in my personal opinion. Though they aren't that similar. Though I believe it to be closer to that than it is to Noir Ambre. And no, I don't think this stuff is quite as good as Noir Ambre, but it is just as good as Sauvage Elixir.

Bottle- Atomizer is slightly pressurized. At first I thought it was bad, but after a dozen sprays or so it became consistently good. The bottle looks and feels expensive. The cap is light and cheap though. The fuzzy feeling on the box and bottle is nice. Performance- 24+ hours on clothes, about 12 hours on skin. The projection isn’t as good as expected. About 4-5 sprays needed. It hasn’t had time to macerate so I expect it to improve. Scent- Opening is a little harsh, but still good. Smells sour and smoky. Once the sourness goes away, its smoky, woody, and ambery. The smoke goes away after 90 minutes, ending with a nice sweet amber woody fragrance. Opening is a 5.5/10, but after 10 minutes it’s a 9/10. Once again, it hasn’t had time to macerate yet, so the opening will probably improve later. The incense notes are more noticeable on clothes than on my skin. On my skin, the amber and sweetness comes out more. Cost- I got it for $17+$6 shipping. It smells and lasts like a much more expensive fragrance. One of my friends said it smells upwards of $150. I recommend this for someone who enjoys incense and amber.

I got this because I love Ameer al Oudh Intense Oudh--but this feels like it's at the opposite end of the spectrum, not warm or like a burning fire in the least. Instead it's cool, very crisp and woodsy, resin that's almost like pine sap, then dries down to deep smoky/ incense. The dry down smokiness makes me think of Cabochard by Gres, but much more wearable than that (as Cabochard tips into chokingly smokey bar). Then when I think it's all too much dense incense, it flares up with fresh pine needles, even a bit medicinal, and the sweetness comes out. Not the syrupy vanilla, burnt sugar sweetness of Ameer, but fresh sweet you get from a forest, then settling into a gentle skin scent vanilla (is this the amber?) At first I thought, ok, hmm good scent, I admire it, not love it. Now, it's leaning heavily into love, especially when I picked up the vanilla amber end note. It can take over in spring summer when it gets a bit warm for Ameer al Oudh. I even like the funny fuzzy brown bottle. It's bizarre and different.

Imagine an old, decrepit, archaic church on a cold, cloudy day. This is what comes to my mind when i smell this. It opens up with a strong, pungent burst of black of pepper which tones down very soon. The remaining scent is semi-sweet myrrh with incense, amber, mild pepper and fir balsam. This is not a copy of anything, it smells very unique, many people won't like it because it's a whole different universe compared to mainstream/ blue garbage fragrances. Honestly, Lattafa ( Asdaaf is Lattafa) is killing it. They make high quality, long-lasting, dense and interesting fragrances for ridiculous money. Don't let the price fool anyone - many more expensive ( even niche) fragrances cost about the same amount to create, their price is simply inflated. Majd Al Sultan is on the same level as many 100$+ fragrances, the only difference is there's no big fashion brand/niche name behind it. It lasts 10 hours and projects well. If you like smoky, resinous fragrances buy 2 bottles, you will not regret it.

Nose Note #1101 For some reason I thought this was Amouage Interlude Man dupe. So on my initial impression I thought - well, this is miles away, but it does kind of smell like an Amouage fragrance. Now I see the references and again, this is far even from Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud Lattafa too (I haven't smelled Margiela). This is not burned sugar and chestnut. This is all about very particular resins, myrrh and incense. It is exactly in that sense much like an old era Amouage perfume and despite everything I'll probably view it as such onwards. I love Amouage and this is too - amazing. Such interesting and pretty sweet resins, wow. Upclose it's not that beautiful, but sillage is just wonderful. And performance is phenomenal for the price. The scent is overall incredible for the money that you pay. There's some subtle sourness underneath everything, like some vague berry. The scent overall is indescribable. Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud was more visual, this here is more poetry. 8/10

This fragrance smells soooooo beautiful on me. Very Middle Eastern scent which I love. It says unisex, I can see this being more masculine for westerners but I think for middle east a favorite on women.. Middle eastern women would love this and wear it A LOT. It smells expensive. Initial 1st spray I smell beautiful green with incense and the myrrh. With cool down I smell SWEET, green, incense, musk, warm spice, and amber. It smells sweet on me and very earthy. This is a very sexy scent. It doesn't smell manly at all on my skin. If this has tobacco, I don't smell any at all. I don't usually like fragrances with tobacco, because it does make perfume smell very manly. But this isn't doing that on my skin. It's sweet, green, musk and incense. Very good middle eastern scent that I love. I am giving this 4 out of 5 stars . Love the bottle, this bottle is very sexy. Would I buy again? Definitely

There is no reason to go through the notes and what I pick up, it's been done in other reviews. If this fragrance was in a Montale, By Killian, Merchant of Venice etc nice bottle it would be on everybody's top incense list. Unfortunately it's made by Asdaaf , which is under Lattafa so bias kicks in instantly. I'll be honest, I like this more than Full Incense by Montale which is the first incense based frag I have. I think it's more complex, it's has a little drop of oud at the beginning which makes it darker and the incense has something sweet & aromatic in the dry-down. Performance is not phenomenal but it's on par with most of the other incense fragrances (better than Full Incense, I can tell you that). I paid $17 for this, fresh and sealed. It's worth 3 times more judging by scent alone. If you like aromatic and sweet incense based frags, please give this a try.

I had this cologne and I ended up trading it to a friend of mine. I has purchased Qaa'ed which was very similar so I didn't think I needed this one as well. My friend was wearing it at work and I realized I screwed up getting rid of it. So it's been 4 months, and I finally got it back from him and I love it. I think it actually got better in the 4 months he had it. This is a spicy smoky fragrance with Mid East DNA all over it. It's amazing how good this smells for the price. It's always under $20. The bottle is nice too I don't understand why people don't like it. It's covered in brown felt as well which is kinda cool. The incense are not overpowering either like in other Lataffa colognes in this group (Raghba Wood Intense). I think this is a perfect fall fragrance but you can wear it anytime. 9/10 for me.

Dry, waxy, hard, almost like organic myrrh on the gorgeous resinous type of amber base (non-vanillic, non-patchouli but definitely has vanilla) mixed with sweet woody tobacco (I get birch as well). It’s quite dark, sweet, and alluring, smoky (from the resins & wood). I don't really get an apple tart smell here, rather it's a prominent cinnamon note in disguise that isn't listed, ingrained with the myrrh. I think the texture of the spices: cinnamon, saffron & pepper is featureless, as they might've been toned down so the scent isn’t overwhelming and gives off a smooth quality. Not being too similar, I thought of Étui Noir Miller Harris minus spices, sweetness, and leather, when I first tested it. Overall, I agree it's a gem from Lattafa. Update: lasts on my skin for 12+ hours

This.....ironically reminds me of what Forks, Washington would smell like. Clad with pine trees and mystery, the myrrh evokes something lingering in the distance perhaps the werewolf tribes that are hidden within the forest, burning incense. The sweetness of the saffron brings to mind the luxe vampiric adversaries of said werewolves. With one spray, you are stuck in the love triangle loving being in the middle. Not caring which side you choose. Needless to say, this is the scent I get when the "eyes on fire" intro song starts playing, before we realize how much of a sh*t show Twilight is.... TBH the very affordable price tag is why we got into both. But we stay cause the perfume, like the movie, is lowkey addicting for some strange reason. Shhh, it's our little secret.

This is a masterpiece of a middle east creation. But as usual here in Fragrantica the notes listed aren't correct. The correct notes are as following: Top notes: Lemon, Apple, Anise and Bergamot Middle notes: Coriander, Juniper and Cardamom Base notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Vetiver and White Musk. In the beginning you get the same vibe as Lattafa Qaa'ed from the Cardamom then during the dry down it gets a hint of Oud for Greatness or Afnan Supremacy in Oud although there isn't any Oud in it. It is not a beast mode fragrance but it is wearable and for sure it will not be overwhelming. Also it isn't as sweet as the typical middle eastern fragrances. It is really well blended. I really do enjoy this fragrance and it is a good wearable one for men.

I love this, it’s the right amount of sweet, the Amber the wood , the smoke, the myrrh just perfect blend. I kinda smell vanilla but is not one of the notes so am guessing the Amber and myrrh must make that sweet vanilla scent to my nose. I applied this at 2 pm and was still able to smell it at 10pm received compliments. A friend said it reminded her of her church from her country and said she loved the scent and asked for the name. Over all I think the 60 dollars spent was a very good investment, is not something I would wear every day, I prefer this for sundays church or special occasions like Christmas or a dinner. The scent is still on my clothes after days so it’s very potent , must wash your clothes to get the scent completely out.

After finishing my sample i wasn't sure to go for a full bottle. MAS is a super incensy, smoky, sweet and dense scent which sometimes headache inducing. But it is a very unique and addictive one. To my liking it is loud, bold and last. It will get you noticed. It's uniqueniss made me go for a full bottle. The bottle : is brown suede (i though it was red all along and no, i am not colorblind). Scent: very unique, incens, sweet, smoky, dark Longevity : 8+ Sillage : strong and loud Verdict : great for layering if you want to have dark, smoky and incensy scent trail. Great on it's own. But if you suffer migraine there were days when you can't handle it. Somehow it's uniqueness made me longing to wear it, kind of addictive.

One of my top three favorites out of all my collection. I adore this. It is perfect by itself and also layers so well and elevates just about anything else. If you enjoy the smell of a freshly logged section of forest, or the inside of a sauna, or the lumber aisle at your hardware store, plus some smoke and vanilla and incense, chances are you will like this too. It’s not guaranteed though. My husband loves all those things too and yet he hates this so I can only wear it when he is out of town. I usually find myself wishing for more of a smoke/wood presence in everything and layering with this does the trick. Heck, I throw this on under most of my Victoria’s Secret body sprays half the time and it’s fabulous!

This is stupid good for the $$$. $20/100ml? Are you kidding me? This is a fantastic fragrance. Opening is a nice spicy/tobacco/incense and settles down to a beautiful woody (huge cedar), vanilla, pepper with just the right amount of smoke. It lasts FOREVER but the projection isn’t over the top. This is a fall/winter only fragrance for me. It isn’t a clone but is in the same realm of By the Fireplace by MMM. A lot like Ameer al Oudh Intense Oud or Qaa’ed. I own all of the above and Majd al Sultan is my favourite. Beware: This is a beast! 2 sprays should enough for any occasion. NOT office safe unless you go easy. I own 2 bottles and they will likely outlive me! My bottles were produced in Jan 2021.

Let me put it like this... If I smelled this on a man, and I don't mean in passing, but if he was sitting next to me, I would be VERY bothered. Smoldering, exotic, confident,... Can't stop sniffing my wrist! I detect a trace of vanilla in this although it's not listed in the notes. Well-rounded, well-blended - the price is unbelievable! OK, I bought myself a bottle and I'm going to wear it. I have to. Unique, impressively sumptuous - wow, the price again! With all the marshmallow-y, caramel-ly, candy-licious, flowery fumes all around clogging my grill (please don't get me wrong, I love a lot of them), this feels like someone opened a window and let a whole lot of provocativeness in!

This perfume is a dream, and wearing it is like coming home. It's a spiritual experience. So grounding, beautiful & a little bit haunting. I get wafts of incense and wood and a sweetness which is indescribable. I love that it's so stunning, without being at all feminine. But It's not masculine to me either. It just is what it is and I'm thankful for having it. It is more similar to Ameer Al Oudh Intense than expected. But it's next level. I think I wasted a couple of years hesitating on this one. Love. Edit. I wear this day and night - spray my clothes & don't want to layer it. Plus obsessively check the bottle to make sure there's still plenty (yes you can see through the brown!)

Recently, this was recommended to me when I posted in fragrance chat that I want something that smells like a Cathedral. This is 100% spot on! It's warm, woodsy, yet has a coolness about it. Smells heavy Pine and Cedar, with incense and smoke to balance. Very Unisex - anyone can wear this! If you're looking for something that's reminiscent of a Church, a Cathedral, or even an Antique Library, this one is for you! Plus, at this price point (I paid $20), you can't go wrong. This is one of my top favorites, and I'm normally a very sweet, Gourmand Girlie! Madj Al Sultan is different from anything I own, and stands out by itself. A very cozy fragrance! 10/10!!

Incense, myrrh, amber and fir. At first, more incense than others. Then myrrh with amber step forward before fir takes the stage and lingers. Simply put, the combination is like plum preserve de luxe smoked with fir and served in fir cases. Good projection but moderate longevity. When temperatures are high, the incense and myrrh are active for about 1h, and all that's left is the end stage centering wood. But when it's cooler, it can project on fiber for a day and a night! I agree that the felt on the box and the bottle is nightmare. It meets the eyes and no more, just like the cap. That said, for $30 it's a gorgeous frag with good price value.

This bottle is so tacky it's almost surreal. (A cheap label glued onto shit-brown flocking wasn't hideous enough, so they had to add a random plastic cap covered in pebbled "leather" and "gold"??? This is the kind of bottle a serial killer would design.) I ordered this because of the descriptions here on Fragrantica, and it's true - the scent is absolutely mesmerizing. If like me, you love dense, woodsy, resinous fragrances, this is for you. The fir and cedar notes are magnificent, and the incense note is positively stately. The whole effect is wonderful and regal, without being pretentious in any way. I absolutely love it.

Smoke, tobacco, incense, myrrh, pepper, saffron, amber, cedar — what’s not to adore? And yet, when I wear it, something doesn’t quite fall into place. It feels overwhelming, maybe too insistent, too saturated — but undeniably beautiful. It instantly transports me back to precious childhood memories of wandering near Amazigh pagan temples in the southern oasis, where the air was heavy with mystery and the stones steeped in the lingering scent of incense, sacred resins, and smoke. It’s a fragrance I cherish. I’ll let it rest a little longer, hoping its sharper edges soften and it settles into something more wearable.

Beautiful smoky incense with a hint of vanilla. Dark, heavy, woody, sweet and mysterious. Has good longevity (7-9h), soft projection and a beautiful and strong sillage. I cannot believe that you're able to get this scent for this price. It's not one of those cheapies that are just "good for the price" but still not that good and you end up never wearing them. It is beautiful, period. Regardless of the price. If you're new to heavy, smoky middle eastern fragrances, I can easily recommend this, since it's not that challenging and you don't risk losing a lot of money if you don't like it.

Its just spicy vanilla but it does get better. Maybe it needed to marinate. I was hoping for strong smoky incense. Mixing it with other perfumes, like Sunrise in Cadaques, makes it incensy and more smoky. EDIT: I stand corrected, this is nice. The opening is the best for me, strong green and incensy but at the drydown its amber/vanilla which is not my favorite. However there is still incense in the drydown so that's good. EDIT again: One of my favorites now. I really like the amber vanilla now, its sooo good. EDIT plus: I am bored of it. :D

For those who want to buy blindly, following the information posted here about the similarities with Noir Ambre Issey Miyake, Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud and By the Fireplace, you will be disappointed. This is most likely not a matter of similarity,but in my opinion, only some associations. I have all four perfumes in the collection, and I can assure you that Majd Al Sultan Asdaaf has an absolutely own profile and is unlike anything else. Due to its price, this is an absolutely safe purchase. I recommend it to everyone.

One of my favorite scents. How is this so cheap? Can anyone tell me, is the vanilla smell in this coming from the myrrh, or is vanilla just an unlisted ingredient? Edit for anyone interested: I found out that along with myrrh, which can have vanilla facets, vanilla is almost always a part of AMBER accords. Since amber is not really a note but an accord most commonly made of labdanum and vanilla. However there is no set recipe so every perfumer can create their own amber accords however they wish.

For myrrh and fir lovers THIS IS IT. At first blast it really feels like its gonna go By The Fireplace, and it obviously shares traits with it but then the myrrh and the fir really waltz together to create a rather non-syrupy sweet almost angelic aroma. Kinda makes me want to cry? Its like it portrays male purity, the good father, the good grandpa, the good son. I really dont know how to explain this, but it reminds me of the true pure masculine, yang energy within every human. Beautiful.

Let me start by saying that I love this scent! To me this smells like sweet, resinous incense - like the ones burning in a church. I find it right in the middle unisex, but you must like incense and burnt woods type of scents. There is also faint vanilla in the drydown. Lasts forever on my skin - which is not common. To compare with other fragrances from my collection, though this is very unique, I would suggest it shares similarities with Ameer al Oud Intense, but less sweet than that.

The opening's brutal dry tobacco is both threatening and stunning, like the chilling eyes of the most stylish, old-money, senior arthouse movie director that you can imagine, but soon the scent soothes into luxe smoked wood powder on my skin. Clearly resemblant of By the Fireplace (even has that super soft lead pencil note that is supposed to be the oud here), but still its own, interesting and lovable thing. Highly recommended if you want to smell niche on a budget.

Smoke, Tobacco AND Incense. I was gonna blind buy this even if it wasn't $14, because it just HAD to be Good. Boy, was I wrong... This is SPECTACULAR. Everyone is not gonna like this, there's a polarizing medicinal scent that comes thru, it gotta be the Fir, but I like it It's what I wish CK One Shock & Burberry London were, both of which I like. They seem "Childish" in comparison They need a bigger favorites shelf on here, because somebody's spot is in jeopardy

While I do love this fragance, I'm pretty sure new productions have been reformulated. The amber and tobacco pipe tones are still there, but a fresher, menthol note is now dominant. For me, this fragance lasts around 2 to 3 hours on skin, and can be smelled at about an arm's distance. While still good, it resembles little to its original, and more famous formulation. Strongly recommend if you want something elegant and interesting without great projection.

Everyone else has pretty much covered the actual scent pretty thoroughly, but if it really stinks or is honestly repulsive let it macerate at least a month. Straight out the box and for a while after the opening on this was literally unbearable in scent and strength, but 1-2 months later this is easily one of my favorites. It's honestly very sophisticated, especially for the price and if you like resins/incense I would not be afraid of blind buying this.

Extremely dark and smoky. The bottle I got lacks the sweetness every one talks about. There is sweetness, to different extent, in By the fireplace, Ameer Al Oudh, Raghba, Raghba wood intense, Oud Mood, an so on. But not in this. There's no sweetness whatsoever. All I could smell are smoke, smoke, and more bitter smoke. I am so confused reading people talking about this smelling like gourmand or vanilla ice-cream. Perhaps the batch I got is different.

resin bomb , all i smell is resin resin and resin, if we talk about the opening , its beautiful , arab juice with fir , wow, sounds as crazy as it smells , this is what you smell when you walk close to an beige ferrari with an gepard sitting in it eating whiskas , it almost smells like an 90s middle eastern perfume , wore this in european summer and people were so confused by what the actual fck i was wearing in 30 degrees 7/10 would not recommend .

Pure dry, smoky wood and resins. If you’re into that, this is excellent. I wear it to remember my dad who was a logger. It truly reminds me of being at the sawmill, the fresh cut cedar logs and chips, but an elegant, refined version of that smell (an elegant logger?? That makes no sense but here we are 😂). I LOVE it for what it is. Best wood focused perfume/cologne I’ve ever smelled for realism. And my references for wood smells are the real deal!

Ez a parfüm az első használatkor magával ragadott. Van benne egyfajta titokzatosság, valami megfoghatatlan. Határozottan egy férfi illatként tudom elképzelni csak. Mikor használom olyan mintha egy elfeledett korban lennék egy szultán palotájában ahol minden sötét zugban valami suttogás lenne, ahol egyeszségek köttetnek. Ez maga a keleti varázs! Frissítés: óvatosan fújjuk mert nagyon elsöprő hatása van. Tartóssága rendkívüli! 10+ óra nálam!!!

It smells like an antique shop or an attic, that sweet, old wood smell of past lives and weeping sap. An absolute steal for the price. $20 for a whole bottle on Amazon. I personally like the felt on the bottle, it's pretty and I like the fuzzy exterior, but I understand that can be a sensory nightmare for some. The bottle design is a little tacky, but that's not really why you buy perfume generally, so it's no big deal.

It's a good one. The price is truly shocking for the juice. The silage is very similar to 'Fidelis' by Histoires de Parfums (130 euro). The fir balsam has the leading role here. A bit synthetic, yes, but 20 euro for a bottle like heyyy. Unisex. I dig the mysterious, balsamic vibe. Excellent blind buy! P.s. The performance is BEAST MODE! 2 sprays max to not get headache. Stayed for 1 week on my T-shirt.
