Royal Arabian Oud

#1446 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Hoo boy is this stuff nose-hair-singeing oudy! It takes you to "the woodshed." What makes this so likeable for me is it's not ruined by a grandmotherly dose of rose, as with nearly all scents with this much saffron and oud. I love Lattafa "Oud Mood", Reminiscence "Oud", Mancera "Sand Aoud", but I don't wear them often because the rose notes can make you smell like the lobby of the Dubai Marriott Marquis, especially in the Summer. For me these scents are unwearable except in cool and colder months. No you absolutely cannot wear this in a car pool, on an elevator, in a small closed office space. At least not soon after applying. That would just be rude. I wouldn't even wear this on a plane or on the subway unless some time had passed, and I wouldn't wear this to the office at all. But for a dinner date with outdoor seating? Hells yes I'll wear this stuff, and I won't care who does or doesn't like it! Can't imagine a woman wearing it. If you're a fan of saffron and oud, at under $25, this is a solid buy! I got anosmic to it in about an hour, though those around me could still smell it two hours later. But by lunch it was definitely fading, so I'd probably re-apply judiciously midday.

Everybody hates it in the reviews, but this is this is everything the below reviewers complain about in the best way. A heavy dose of chemically medicinal saffron with a syrupiness that is seen and felt in addition to the smell. It's not cloying or too sweet. Just a syrupy oil slick you smell, feel, and see on your skin like a glaze. Plenty of fragrances have aura, but this has genuine presence. Smoky, sweet, floral, leathery, and mildly animalic. What the hell is the problem? You afraid of a little perfume?
