Elixir du Docteur Flair

Aromatic, spicy, mossy. Classically masculine. Quite naturalistic smelling. Cloves are the most prominent to me. Fairly linear. I guess it reminds me of Lush Dirty if you replace the mint in Dirty with cloves. I like Dirty as well. I don't wear a ton of traditionally masculine aromatics, especially in the designer realm. But I do enjoy a handful of more natural smelling ones, where you can really identify the plant matter in them.

Wow! A blast of herbs and lavender. Its heavy on the herbs a little lighter on the lavender making feel a little top heavy. Mediterranean feel. Think a linen shirt and some leather sandals. Great for a short day time outing like a coffee or grocery shopping.

Elixir du Dr Flair doesn’t feel very french to me, more Spanish or Italian in character. Like an old wooden apothecary’s kitchen and a recipe. An ethereally spicy green Mediterranean herb infusion. Spicy warm clove, bitter green mugwort, herbal aromatic lavender & dirty green clary sage are cooked for a time along together with dry shady cedar and woody smoky green vetiver. Only a touch of uplifting citrus fruits with the cold green stems of petit grain are added in the last moment, to lighten up and refresh the shady aura, like an invigorating ray of summer light. The fragrance reveals some nostalgic aura in its rugged and rustic way, reminiscent to the fragrances of the sixties and seventies. I am somewhat reminded by Agua Brava/Puig or Pino Silvestre, but executed in a more contemporary, dense, darker and somehow elegant way...probably the touch of elegance is the french facet. The fragrance was created by Françoise Caron, she of Eau d‘Orange Verte/Hermès and the original Cuiron by Helmut Lang. Longevity and projection are excellent for a so called Eau de Cologne, and I always love the bottles with its bakelite caps, the embossed label (it’s not paper) with these great sturdy cardboard boxes.
