A Night at the Opera

This delightful one opens with the naturally vanilla tinged, respectively sweet grass and labdanum, segueing as a gorgeous chewy number, polished slightly by gallery echoes, wormwood and bergamot, forming a buoyant bridge to a grand stage of tradition whereby leather moonlights as a tenor to a tobacco floral, soaring seamlessly to creamy cozy seats of woody comfort, creased in varying degrees of sawdust, tar and musk; one concluding as a swooning, powdery bouquet of yore that wears equally pretty and handsome... This Luca Maffei composition guilelessly references the Austrian barbershop classics of the day, Knize Ten, though most compatibly with the mentholated green tabac flower of Alt-Innsbruck, alongside blurred hints from the 90’s tobacco road of Dolce Gabbana and Dreamer... Surely, this is a neo-classical concerto that conjures select eras to the senses, one luxurious and dreamy. Truly, ‘A Night at the Opera’ is fine outing indeed!

This is not something I’d normally go for (I’m learning that I’m not the biggest fan of most woody scents) but this is beautiful. For my own use, I don’t need more than a sample, but it’s a beautiful elegant fragrance in my opinion.

A Night at the Opera is a refined blend of tobacco, patchouli, woods, and florals, creating a luxurious experience that truly fits its name. The composition feels rich and elegant, offering a classic yet wearable scent. However, while the fragrance opens beautifully, it lacks complexity and evolution over time, remaining relatively linear. With average longevity and projection, it’s a pleasant but not particularly dynamic scent. A solid choice for those who enjoy smooth, well-blended notes without dramatic shifts. Rating: 3/5

I tried a sample - imo smells exactly like its name, also it reminds me of going to the theatre as a kid. Strong and lasts forever, definitely not for everyone.

I don’t get Lucas work. Every scent I have tested is just a rabble, like you cannot set it up and the surroundings are just restless. This one is a diluted shaving water with a touch of tobacco. Maybe men will get it?
