Love Is Lost

lovely rose fragrance. velvety and deep. this is NO dupe of love dont be shy. Yes, it has a similar neroli vibe in the beginning but after that it goes a total different direction. LDBS becomes a sweet slightly roasted marshmallow scent. In the heart love is lost is a fresh but still a sultry deep warm zesty rose. Very mossy too, in the style of Levant from Ormonde Jayne, Fleur narcotique from ex nihilo, Ricina of V canto or Azora from attar collection. So if you wait a little bit, I think Love is lost resembles much more those fragrances with its own dna rather then LDBS. Amazing

I have a decant of Love Don't be Shy from before 2019, a full bottle of LDBS from 2022 (reformulated version) and Neroli blanc Intense. I think this is most similar to the latter on my skin. The sweetness in Love is Lost smells more natural to my nose. The quality of the perfume is amazing; it's contains a high percentage of perfume oil. I also have Peregrina and I do not get any similarities from this at all. On my skin, the main player is neroli and vanilla, then the other notes. I do like it alot, but then again I love neroli and orange blossom heavy fragrances. Others might find this redundant depending on which notes express themselves the strongest on their skin.

I just had a chance to sample it today. Love at first smell. It does remind of something from my childhood, a nice afternoon during springtime in the garden. I can strongly feel the rose with some warm Amber and vanilla under tone. Very good price for an extrait de perfume.

Love Is Lost by Astrophil & Stella is a floral, ambery vanilla fragrance that leans heavily on jasmine as the central note. The vanilla adds creaminess, while rose attempts to soften the overall profile. However, the balance isn’t always successful—at times, the vanilla overpowers the jasmine, resulting in a competing rather than complementary dynamic. While there’s a mention of citrus in the official note breakdown, it’s barely perceptible, if at all. I read the notes and got excited about this fragrance, expecting a big, bold chypre. Happily I sampled first. Love is lost opens up with rose, some jasmine and a dark base. There is no trace of the citruses listed. The base of the fragrance is extremely dry and quite sharp, like cigar tobacco. As the scent wears on the florals dissipate and the base takes over completely, with a hint of vanilla added. It is over all a dark and bone dry fragrance, leaning more masculine (applies to the whole line as well).

Kilian's Love don't be shy has been duped... They called it Love is Lost.... One of the two from this line with best longevity.

Doubt that any of the perfumers from this house have stepped a foot into the offices of Astrophil and Stella. All seven fragrances are utterly generic and copy something else that is a heavy love in fragrance community. This one in particular is quite pathetic copy on by Kilian’s love don’t be shy. Except it is synthetic and out of balance. Quality of the bottles and juice does not resonate with the fact what you have in hand is actual cheap, hyped up piece of junk. Labels peel off really fast and the entire thing looks like viktor & rolf flowerbomb trippin on acid... absolute waste of time... for less money buy Ex Idolo Ryder and be amazed at what quality niche complex fragrance actually is.

surprised by all the LDBS comparisons. I actually like this fragrance and have always hated LDBS. It is too sickly sweet for me (and I do like gourmands). I don't see this as a dupe at all, but I guess different noses pick up on different things. To me it reminds me more of one of the Miss Dior's (Blooming Bouquet perhaps?). It definitely evokes something else as well from Sephora. I guess that is my way of saying it smells a bit mainstream, perhaps not the indie type of scent you would expect.

This is way more in the same league of Loukhoum from Keiko Mecheri rather then LDBS from Killian in my opinion. If you are a fan of Loukhoum, you will probably like Love is lost also. I like this perfume but I already own Loukhoum, so I don’t need a bottle of this one, but Loukhoum is not easy to find so this could be a substitute for that one. Sillage and longivity are oké.

Imagine a combination of pas ce soir and Istanbul went bad. strong Jasmine (not the best of it) and vanilla. nothing too exciting for me, thought it would be sexier and deep. Meh

I have a recently opened bottle that I would like to sell. I wanted to love it but I don't. It's almost full and I can sell it very cheap. EU :)
