Pepperkorn

It sounds rock! Even if I'm not a big fan of the brand I sampled this late release just because I found it in a set of testers a friend gifted me from Exsence and I was quite suprised. Let's cut it short since the beginning: this is good, and deserves a mention in the boredom caused by the hundreds of useless new things that were presented at the Exsence. The name says it, this is first and foremost about pepper, pink pepper, immediatly strong and present in the opening, very loud (I get the rock music loudness if it makes sense), explored in all his facets, both the spicyness (supported by a robust dose of eugenol and nutmeg absolute) and the freshness (geraniol is well dosed to not take the scene but to support the pepper green, fresh, pungent aspect). The pepper slowly lay down on the amberwoods and a good leather-labdanum thing that fits so well with the rock images of leather jackets. The suprise for me here was the incense, nice idea to add it to keep the fragrance in motion and not falling flat in the amberwoody resionous base. There is also a "piny" facet in the base that goes with the incense to keep the spicy freshness of the opening going on even in the drydown. Vanilla rounds the things up to prevent any "scratchiness" in the fragrance. Very fun fragrance, it fits the "rock" reference and it is really interesting to wear. It is strong, it develops quite well and I didn't notice any offnotes or offputting aspects (notes may suggest a more complex profile than what it actually is tho). Probably it will be considered more masculine but I can definetly see a woman rocking this, more night than day fragrance, long lasting, won't pass unnoticed and good price for once.
