Truly one of the best and most realistic clementine fragrances on the market, bar none. scent breakdown - Opens up with juicy, photorealistic mandarin orange/clementine. Super sunny, uplifting, and happy. As it begins to dry, the juicy flesh turns into slightly more bitter pith, mixing with slightly herbal and green notes of basil, but the focus never leaves the clementine. There is little to no change in the deep dry down, except for shots of clean white musk and other aroma chemicals to help extend the fragrance's lifespan. personal thoughts - Truly one of, if not the best, interpretations of the Clementine fruit on the market right now, but it's a shame it has been sold out at many of the US discounters. I would hesitate to buy this for anything less than $100 due to its simplistic nature, poor performance, and general use as a mood booster. I loved spritzing this on during those hot summer mornings when I had to get a couple of chores done and go to the gym before showering this off for work or other plans: truly a dumb reach, but a lovely one at that. If you like fragrances like "Afternoon Swim" by Louis Vuitton or "Mandarine Basilic" by Guerlain, you have to get your nose on this one; it's that good. performance - Moderate performance for a citrus fragrance of 6.5ish hours before disappearing off my skin, with it only noticeably projecting off my skin for the first hour or so. rating - 9/10. when to wear - A quick Sunday brunch with your friends, sitting on the patio is a requirement; When you gotta run out of the house to do a couple of quick errands; Waking up to head to the pool in a couple of hours. song vibe - Lovely day by Bill Withers TLDR - Sweet, juicy Clementine & Mandarin + slightly herbal and green Basil + Shots of White Musk. A super simple yet super pleasing clementine orange fragrance that is sure to put a smile on anyone's face. While a bit lackluster in terms of performance, it makes up for it in its sheer likability and ease of use. If you want to smell like you just rubbed yourself down with tangerines before leaving the house, this seems like the better and less sticky option.

I bought an Atelier sample kit years ago (5+) and tried every one off and on since then. Recently I delved into the world of perfume (thank you Fragrantica! This site now feeds my addiction). I find I concentrate on one category of fragrances at a time more or less. Roses, Greens (my love affair with these started in the early 80’s with my first bottle of Chanel Cristalle), frangipani after a trip to Hawaii. My search for a beautiful green (and now citrus combined) had me revisiting my Atelier collection, specifically Clementine California. A week ago I noticed the sample had disappeared, much to my chagrin. Turning to Fragrantica once more I reviewed the notes and reviews and realized I wanted larger size. One poster mentioned the frag being discontinued which pushed me to buy a travel spray which arrived today. I spritzed myself liberally- we all know CC’s longevity is limited- and indulged myself. The thought flipped through my mind-this travel spray won’t last me beyond several months. Added to that was the article I later read here that Atelier was pulling out of North America. Now the scramble- I found a 30mL spray on eBay and bought it immediately. To me this is the finest blend of clementines and other green notes. The clementine is joined immediately by the juniper berries - a combo made in heaven. The cypress kicks in later - I also get some basil. The sandlewood shows up later in the dry down - clean with no powdery scent, which I hate. I love my white florals with green notes and citrus added (shout to VCA’s California Reverie), but CC fills the need for a citrus/ green without them without being too masculine. While Cristalle has that super sharp galbanum note, CC is much more subtle without that harsh note. Buy it quickly- many sites are out of stock. Fingers crossed that Atelier comes back in some fashion- maybe with a pared-down collection.

If you are looking for a pure, no-nonsense clementine scent, this is it. I am very passionate about perfumes and colognes that can capture the replica scent of the real thing, and I find this to be the most true-to-life clementine scent I've found so far. This cologne is a warm summer walk on European cobblestone streets. You've peeled a clementine, and you're giving each piece out to your loved ones. There are no synthetic tones I get from other fruit scents, this one is realistic and doesn't mix up clementine with orange. I will say the middle notes become quite lost. The top notes have been surprisingly long-lasting. The scent may go quiet, and then all of a sudden, you get a bright gust of clementine during a breeze. I would say this can last 4-6 hours, after that, it primarily quiets into the base notes and a bright citrus that is only noticeable right next to the skin. I prefer this scent much more than its sister, Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Spray, which has a much more noticeable vanilla and almost gourmand fragrance. This cologne was my signature scent last summer and most likely will make a return this year. I believe it is quite pricey, though, and I had run through my bottle within just a year. Still, I highly recommend Atelier Cologne clementine; it's a happy summery scent you might just fall in love with.

I'm heartbroken that this is discontinued in the states. I use different perfumes every time I switch cities or go on an extended vacation (2+ weeks at same place), and the scents end up representing a period of my life. This was the scent I used when I was 24-25. I was fit, glowing, and excited about what's to come. Every time I smell it, I just end up thinking "this scent is what the best phase in my life smells like." I was a bit late to the game in terms of finding out the discontinuation so I couldn't lock it down anywhere (apparently all of the Atelier Cologne fragrances were on sale everywhere?) so I recently paid close to $300 on Amazon just to purchase a full 100 ml, so I can just possess this scent. At the first spray, you're greeted by a fresh sweet tangerine (or sweet navel orange). Think of it as pressing out the pulp of the fruit, not the skin (I also have Orange Sanguine by Atelier Cologne, which I used for a brief time at 30, and Orange Sanguine smells more like the skin of the orange with a bit of tartness while Clementine California is pure pulp). It stays on 2-3 hours on my skin, which doesn't hold on to perfumes well. I don't smell a lot of pepper in the heart note - to me it stays on pretty consistently with the freshness fading in 30 minutes or so and sweetness left throughout the rest of the 3 hours.

Oh crap. What is happening?! I think I'm in love. They sent me this 4ml sample, but now I'm 2/3 done with it, but it's turned from a "like" into a "love". I can't afford a FB right now 😂 This is adorable! Really predominantly clementine and mandarin (like 80%), but it contains some woody notes. Extremely naturalistic and effortlessly cool, one of those nearly one-note-wonder types. It's a bust of freshly squeezed delight, but whatever they did to this to make it last beyond half in hour is FAR better than I can accomplish at home with my essential oils. I personally, emphatically attest to how much of a pain citrus EOs are to work with, they evaporate obnoxiously quickly! I'm pleased to report that this is not the case here, and that I get around 4 hours. Not insane by any stretch in Frag Land, but insane in Essential Oil World. A little bit of woodiness shines through too, bitter and REAL. It's like the underside of your nails after pruning bushes. Cypress and juniper are alive and well, in the drydown. Very unisex and leans masculine. *edit* I understand why a lot of people dislike the drydown, juniper is a very hard note to appreciate if it's not tempered by some other scents. Extremely aciduous, but it's balanced here. This is an impressive citrus piece and I'd be happy to adopt it someday 🍊🌿

This scent is perfect. The bitterness of the orange pith plays off the balsamic juniper berry to create a sophisticated yet fresh scent. The other notes add aromatics, and a bit of dryness from vetiver and wood which keep it interesting and addictive in contrast with juciy citrus. This dryness reminds me a bit of tobacco. Toward the drydown, the scent mellows and comes together toward a slighly floral scent. It's actually this drydown that first made me fall in love with this scent before my nose matured to prefer the more unique notes of the opening. I have both this and Floral Street Sunflower Pop and strongly agree with the similarity. I wore both side-by-side to compare and had my husband smell both. Sunflower Pop does have a sweeter, more peach opening from the bellini accord. Besides that opening, it smells very similar to Clementine California except Clementine California is slightly more unisex and spicy. My husband's opinion from a snif test was they were different enough that you could have both. If you like one, you'll most likely enjoy the other!

Stole this from one of my last flings. I’m not even sorry. Turns out the real attraction was the scent. He just happened to be wearing it lol. So now Clémentine California is my go-to when I want to smell fresh but not fragile. Morning, noon, midnight existential crisis, I’m wearing this. It’s got everything I love: sharp, herbaceous clementine, juniper, pepper, basil, vetiver. Zesty without being basic, clean without being boring. And so coolly androgynous. And the best part is, it doesn’t smell like a fruity cocktail or someone’s flower-scented bad decision. Every other summer frag smells like fruit punch or melted candy. This one is pure, effortless energy. Does it last? About as long as your last situationship. It’s a cologne, baby. Ephemeral by design. It crashes into your senses, flirts shamelessly, leaves you wanting more, and then disappears like it was never there. Exactly how it should. Worth every reckless cent. 🍊💥 4.5/5. Citrus-spiked, sexy, and commitment-phobic. Just my type.

I am glad everyone thinks this one is unisex because I wore it all summer - sometimes with a splash of atelier’s vanilla insensee and other times with a splash of Laconia from Monsieur Daxon. A wonderful summer combo that you could explore further with coconut, maybe CK Eternity Now - yep that would work or the new atelier Lemon Island. It’s very versatile to mix up in summer... and of course it’s lovely on its own. Atelier always leans sweet and I am guessing this is their signature/market lead scent at present. Nice packaging which makes me feel like I am at the beach, but I don’t associate this with California. It’s far more South Beach as the citrus has a tiny amount of sharpness to the nose - and it’s warm all year in MIA unlike LAX. No one will dislike this scent so it’s very versatile - cuddle up on the couch - at the office - visiting family or a warm night out. Worth what you pay.

I did NOT expect to love this one as much as I do. Imagine putting on a warm white floral perfume as a base. ("But there are no white florals in the notes!" you say! I know - isn't it weird? The juniper, basil, and vetiver are all present, but there's a tinge of jasmine or tuberose on my skin. I totally can't explain it.) Then, imagine you've just peeled the juiciest, freshest clementine. And the scent of the rind stays on your hands, and it begins to mix with your floral perfume. This is what Clementine California gives me. Fresh, sugary citrus layered over a very sweet floral. This is an easy wear. I reach for it almost every morning instinctually. CC is an absolute love for me, and it's something I'd recommend to sample if you get the opportunity. This has moderate sillage for about 2 hours, then fades to a skin scent. It stays on clothing for around 10-12 hours.

When I got a sample of this, I was expecting a citrus-forward aromatic fragrance. Was pretty surprised when it turned out to be the older, more sophisticated sister of Victoria's Secret Bombshell. Just that incredibly big blast of juicy fresh fruity notes, but doesn't meander into migraine territory. Works so well in hot humid weather too. I do own several AC frags and have gotten used to the fact that they fade into a skin scent after 3 hours of wear. But not CC. This one sticks around for hours on end, especially if sprayed on clothes. I have the 30ml bottle now but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the full size as well. Also great that the 30ml size comes with a faux leather bottle sleeve, which it makes it safer for me to bring the bottle on my travels.

Cheerfull, light and airy. Tiny drops of the sweet clementine juice in the air as if you are piercing soft skin of a real citrus. A perfect fresh out of the shower scent or a nice pick me up during the day. Lasts the whole day, but sits very close to skin, so it is fit for everyday office use and layering with almost anything. Absolutely lovely! When 200ml are bought at the corner, 30ml of any available Atelier Cologne are offered, so I chose Santal Carmin, which turned out to be woody, warm and charming. I see that someone has compared Clementine to ADP Arancia Di Capri and I must disagree. Arancia is much more bitter, dry and herbal. Whoever is working on the Atelier Cologne line is doing a good job, so far I liked everything I've tried.

This starts off with a bright burst of oranges then the citrus falls to the background as the basil really comes forward. Clementines are a usually little sweeter to my nose than what this perfume is, but it is undeniably an orange scent. It's like an unripened orange, green and a little bitter around the edges. The dry down is very woody and I really get the vetiver from this which I really like. This one isn't a fruity scent per se, it's much more aromatic like the scent of an actual orange grove, bark and all. It's like the Philosykos of orange scents and I love it. The longevity is around 4 hours for me. I think this is unisex, but I can see the dry down of this one coming off more masculine.

I have rose colored glasses when smelling this perfume, I bought a sample at Sephora on the way to visit my aunt and uncle in Palm Springs right after finishing college. I wore this every day that weekend while I read next to the pool in the sun, napped on the couch and enjoyed more than a few margaritas, and this scent fit that vibe perfectly. It is a very very bright and almost artificial orange scent (probably due to the juniper note), but I still like it for some reason. When I learned Atelier Cologne was leaving the US market I literally RAN to Sephora within the hour to pick up a massive bottle. It sits safely in my cool dark dresser, and I hope that they re-enter the US market soon.

Fresh fragrances are tough. I have long outgrown the ultra linear zero projection body sprays and celebrity fragrances (with some exceptions, of course). But too much projection and too much complexity is not what I want for the hot days of summer. What a beautiful balance this strikes. The clementine is juicy and sweet, but the spices really make this shine. You would think the juniper and vetiver would make this lean sharp, but it just adds a well rounded unisex elegance. I might be detecting a little sweetness from the basil and anise but those are very much in the background. Truly a summertime fragrance but could hold it's own in cool (not freezing cold) weather.

The scent may have only lasted 10 minutes, but by god were those 10 minutes worth it. The realistic mandarin opening is just so uplifting, and I usually hate the word uplifting but that's the only way to describe it- it lifted me up. I sprayed it on myself on the bus once and my friends stopped their very involved conversation to comment on how great it smelled and ask what it was. Alas, it's now nigh impossible to obtain for a normal price, and I continue to search for a replacement that is easily available in my country (my favourite dupe, Sunflower Pop by Floral Street, is also no longer available in Canada to the best of my knowledge).

Just so so comforting. This scent opens with this beautifully bright clementine that smells as tangy as your fingers do after eating one. It's sweet but not overwhelmingly so, and delicately balances soft warmth with cool intrigue. To me this feels like laying in a soft bed recalling the earlier day, which you spent speeding along a highway in your friend's convertible, passing the sun-soaked mountains on the way to the beach. You can almost still feel the wind in your hair. Like a vibrant moment in time enveloped in soft memory. I hope to get a full bottle someday.

It would be deceiving to describe this as a fruity citrus fragrance due to the name. In my opinion, this is better described as a aromatic green fragrance, supported by a strong woody base of cypress/vetiver, with a touch of nice citrus up top. The opening of this fragrance is gorgeous and beautiful with the burst of clementine. As the smell dries down, it turns into a very woody and aromatic scent with remnants of the clementine and mostly the juniper keeping it fresh. The woody base though isn't the powerful and smoky kind, but gentle and smooth.

I love everything about this fresh fragrance. I smell the mandarin orange, the clementine, the star anise and when it dries down I'm left with the beautiful sandalwood and the vetiver. It lasts on my skin during the heat in the blazing hot southern summers. I'm so disappointed that these fragrances will no longer be available for purchase in the U.S. If anyone is looking for this beautiful freshie, it's still available on Maxaroma and you may want to check 'wethift' for a good coupon code. Clémentine California by Atelier Cologne -- Beautiful fragrance with real life juice clementine orange opening burst accompanied with juniper berries and mandarine orange. Almost immediately it's complimented with the star anise and basil with a slight hint of spice coming from the black pepper. The dry down is a mix of cypress, hatian vetiver, and sandalwood giving it an earth/woody/creamy vibe with the juciy orange playing in the background that's to die for. This is definately a hidden jem. To bad it's being discontinued in the states.

Nobody here seems to have mentioned this but to me it smells kind of smokey. Like delicious, juicy citruses mixed with cigarette smoke. And while that might not be appealing to some people, I think that’s what makes the fragrance unique. It’s not a typical citrus like Light Blue. It has a bite. It’s sharper and sexier. It’s white maxi dresses, European coastal cities, summer nights filled with booze and smoke. That’s what I get from it. I can definitely see this being unisex. Picked up the largest bottle they sell.
