Encens Céleste

At one time, I was addicted to incense-forward fragrances, and I bought a half dozen in one sitting: Ajmal Wood, Montale Bakhoor, Memo Paris Tiger's Nest, Lillipur by Tiziana Terenzi, Maahir Black, Gucci a Midnight Stroll, etc. And this fragrance absolutely smells like something I bought in this family. So it's definitely mimicking something, but unfortunately, I no longer have most of those frags, so I cannot say which. But let me describe it below becuse I can tell you what it isn't. It's not a oud-rose incense, not a sweet incense, not a smokey incense loaded with birch tar or cade oil like Maahir Black or Gucci Midnight Stroll. Not a frankinsense incense like Memo Paris with high amounts of elemi gum, tree resin/citrus. This fragrance is a gorgeous and perfectly done incense. Aside from amber, you're going to get a lot of cedar, it smells like Chinese cedarwood, but it's completely smoothed out. It smells more like bakhoor/wood unburnt (or burnt a day ago and no longer smoldering) incense. You can't call it too sweet so it's not overdosed on vanilla benzoin, or peru balsam, but it definitely has some of that in there to smooth it out. This feels more like a wood, guaicwood, incense, with probably only a hint of olibanum/frankincense. I sprayed it on my shirt, sat in a taxi (the poor taxi driver) then when I arrived home I popped off the shirt and I could smell it on my chest because it's so strong it absorbed through! This fragrance is full-retail-price worthy.

This has a soft citrus opening that makes me think this is going to lean towards frankincense but that's not where this goes. This is a lovely soft, slightly suedey-leather and slightly smokey incense fragrance. This is long lasting but relatively close to skin.

Got a boutique tester tube. The scent immediately struck me as nostalgic on first sniff. I’ve been trying to recall where I’ve encountered this aroma before—definitely in some fragrance—but I just can’t quite place it. A mediterranian interpretation on Encens topic. But definitely not one of Maria Candida or Profumum Roma that favors incorporating oriental notes. Could it be Encens Satin by Armani? No, it’s not as "high-pitched" or thin as that. Or perhaps Bois d’Encens by Armani? That’s closer, but not quite right. It’s not as woody as Bois d’Encens; instead, it carries a shimmering powdery note, yet not in the way of typical oriental fragrances. ... After a month, I picked up the tube again. Suddenly, it clicked: the backbone of Encens Céleste seems to draw from Bois d'Argent by Dior —particularly its hallmark powdery-woody combination. Simply put, Encens Céleste feels like a blend of Bois d'Argent and Bois d’Encens , borrowing elements from both. However, it’s neither as versatile as the former nor as focused on the polished incense expression as the latter. It’s worth a try, though. Rating: 6/10

Ambery, minimally sweet, slightly cedar-woody and muted incense scent - could be one of Sorcinelli's Extraits de Musique. Reminds me of authentic incense and myrrh resins smoldering in an incense burner. Warm, soft, and comforting.

If someone has smelled it, can you please write a proper review. It seems from the notes that it smells like Armani's Bois d'Encens. Yes? No?
