Gold Leather

The first whiff of this perfume reminds me instantly of one of my favourite soothing winter warming drinks: brandy and lovage. Lovage appears to be one of the most underrated and unheard of mixers known to mankind. It is an old English alcoholic cordial distilled from local Devon herbs and spices according to a family recipe. The word 'lovage' comes from 'love-ache', which is a medieval name for parsley. Traditionally, this is drunk two parts lovage to one part brandy as a warming pick-me-up on cool evenings. It is sweet and aromatic and has an almost honey like texture that slides down the throat. Although not listed here, Gold Leather contains Davana oil from India; it has a sweet, penetrating and boozy (of dried fruits) fragrance. it is well known to smell differently on different persons. If the nose could smell colour, Gold Leather is how a luminous reddish gold would smell. It is the scent of an evening by a crackling wood fire, sat in an Eames leather lounge chair, sipping fine cognac in a gold-rimmed Dartington Crystal brandy glass with memories of a past passionate embrace coursing through the veins. It is incredibly sensual. Although I think Gold Lovage might have been a more appropriate name, I can most definitely smell leather. It is just not the overt dry leather smell that most of us are accustomed to. It is a moist chamois leather, like a nineteenth-century glove or a cloth used to clean jewels or perhaps more aptly, to clean fine gold jewellery. Gold Leather is most likely a love or hate perfume (at least during the first hour of application) but it mellows down to a beautiful sweet leather and wood that lasts for many hours on skin (and possibly even days on clothing) which I don't think many people would take any offence to. Lots of people do seem to dislike the shocking alcoholic opening though, and although I wasn't too sure myself on first application, I found it to become utterly addictive. One reviewer mentioned that they couldn't imagine many occasions where they would wear Gold Leather and yet they felt compelled to reapply it every half hour. I get that completely; on certain nights I like to drink to get drunk. (”Every night I cut out my heart. But in the morning it was full again”). Gold Leather is a strong love for me, the type of love that makes me ache for a cosy evening by the fire, while the wild winter wind blows down the chimney. Some flames can never be extinguished.

Bitter orange, saffron, rum and plum... imagine the opulently dressed table of a Tsar’s banquet; and this is just the top notes. If, like myself, you enjoy these notes, you will be in for a wonderful treat; but wait, the proof of is in the pudding. Artemisia and eucalyptus are the middle notes; wonderful medicinal notes that pierce the nostrils and lift the top notes on a vaporous cloud. Cedar, guaiac wood, agarwood (oud) and leather provide the decadent base notes. So many revered notes could run the risk of making a perfume smell overwhelming or ‘muddy’. Fortunately, Gold Leather has been crafted by Atelier Cologne so we can rest assured that we have the trademark sparkle,the sense of lightness and the incredible artistic use of space between each of the individual notes that make the entire composition work together in perfect harmony - like a heavenly choir in the Vatican. There are those of you that will undoubtedly dislike this fragrance and that for me is a good thing because some of my very favourite perfumes have some strong dislikes within the fragrance community. Although Gold Leather carries the quintessential Atelier Cologne touch, I would say that Gold Leather is one of the most diverse of the fragrances within the Atelier Cologne portfolio and I wish that Atelier Cologne had the courage and vision to step further in this bold and decadent direction. Gold Leather is deep and rich and ‘alcoholicly puddingy’, yet it still manages to remain light and semi transparent and although it is a perfume that I have always worn in winter - today I wear it in the evening of the hottest day of summer and it works perfectly. It works because when perfume is created under the most perfect of conditions, it is the work of alchemy. To experience the scent of Gold Leather is to enjoy a moment of rare ecstasy and magic. Alchemists of days long gone looked deep into their magic orbs in order find a way to turn base matter into gold. Atelier Cologne have managed, somehow, to turn leather into gold. Just close your eyes and inhale the first hedonistic atoms then inhale again an hour or so later. There are worlds within worlds that exist alongside ours; we just need to learn how to see them. Using our nose is a good start. 10/10

A complex and interesting fragrance; seriously, this fragrance has a number of twists and turns. Gold Leather opens with a loud boozy-plummy bang, which slowly subsides over the next two-hours on my skin. I enjoy loud openings, but this one is a bit too boozy-sweet for my taste and comes across as leaving more feminine at this point...which my teenage daughter loves. Boozy, plummy and a faint woody vibe are what I get out of this phase. However, the heart is where Gold Leather moves into another direction and becomes a light medicinal-oud, with a whisper of guaiac wood and leather tones in the background, and not much else going on other than an occasional whiff of booze and/or plum from time-to-time. I really enjoy this phase whereas my daughter, who is not an oud fan, does not. I've come to love in-your-face oud scents--like some of the Montale/Mancera lines or Perris Monte Carlo Oud Imperial, or oud fragrances--or even oud that play a supporting role in Western fragrances such as Royal Oud. I guess a muted-oud is how I would describe it; it has full-body, but it kept under control. I woke-up this morning and Gold Leather was still going strong 12+ hours later. Perhaps going strong is a poor choice of words since it was mostly a skin scent after the four hour mark, but it's still there. Let's just say that overall projection is moderate and longevity is 12+ hours. I still kept getting a whiff of this one even when I thought it was gone. Also, at some point during the deep drydown phase, this fragrance turned into a plum jam scent (another interesting twist) on my skin with perhaps with a little very light leather in the background. I really like this one (unique, complex and interesting) and I look forward to further evaluations in the fall; it certainly warrants further attention. The major problem I have with this fragrance is the fact leather is missing to my nose: booze, plum, oud, guaiac wood/saffron and finally leather is how I see it. What hinders this fragrance is versatility as I find it difficult to find suitable occasions to wear this one. Perhaps I will learn to love this one (I very much like it) but I feel it should be renamed to Purple Boozy Aoud.

Beautiful fragrance. Very realistic boozy accord. And I say Booze & not Rum because the addition of the Plum makes the Rum smell like a Plum Wine. The note doesn’t stand out particularly as Rum. In fact theres a drink made with Red Wine & Coca Cola called a "Kalimotxo" Imagine Plums fermenting into Wine with Cinnamon, Nutmeg, & Coriander. With Citrus notes to add to the composition by giving it a Cola like effervescence. If you were to take a Kalimotxo & pour it all over a Brown luxury Leather Bag, thats what Gold Leather would smell like. .... & while this fragrance is named "Gold Leather", it smells more like spilled booze on top of leather, than it does actual leather. It’s such a sexy fragrance, & although beastly in the opening it remains airy enough to wear on Spring & Summer nights. In my opinion the Eucalyptus note is a nice middle ground between the Leather & the Oud. The Eucalyptus is only strong for about 10 minutes, 15 minutes after it’s initially applied. Then that Spiced Plum Wine & Leather comes back & lasts & projects for hours. The Oud is mild, but very noticeable. Adding an Earthy Woody nuance. This fragrance smells sexy on both men & women. Gold Leather smells nothing similar to Tuscan Leather, nor Plum Japonais. However, Gold Leather will serve the same purpose as Plum Japonais. But they are two totally different fragrances who’s Plum notes are nothing alike. Gold Leather is great for Dates, Formal Events, or any time you will be well dressed & going out at night, or on a cool overcast day or evening.

I find it necessary to, or at least only fair that I should, write a few words about this, as the notes-list above says that it has oud in it. So it transpires that since about October last year I have had a perfume with the stuff in it! Maybe I should not be all that surprised, given the prevalence of it. But I do remember, when I was in the store testing this, I was constanly attracted by a note that I found kind of tart with a 'bite' to it and yet velvety smooth at the same time. I would get the bottle to revisit it if it were not in an awkward place (and I were more certain exactly which place). But each time I have worn this as well as when I chose it, it always seemed to me that the most outstanding feature of this fragrance is that delightful counterpoint between the tart and the velvet. And I suppose that is effectively my review of it, as I cannot reliably recall fine detail about it. But I do remember enjoying it a very great deal, and I am now minded to find it again without too much delay, so as I can have another go on it.

I purchased this at Neimans the day that it launched. I fell in love with it on first sniff! It comes in a beautiful gold bottle, with a gorgeous high end leather cap, burgundy in color. Upon first sniff, you get a massive boozy, leather and oud attack! I've never smelled something like this before! Its such a natural smelling blend of these 3 notes, you'll think someone spill oud oil and rum over the leather seats of a bentley. This opening stays for a quite a few hours, and projects very nicely. After a good 4 hours or so, the leather comes to the front a bit more, and smooths out everything. You can still smell the rum and plum, though a bit muted. Oud is there in the background. It stays this way for MANY MANY hours. I couldn't even tell you how long, because i could still smell it on me the next morning before i showered! Projection is not huge, but its got a nice consistent bubble for the life of the wearing. 18% concentration and it shows! Amazing and unique perfume! Atelier Cologne has truly outdone themselves!

I bought a 30 ml seeing the polarising reviews here. But I have to say I love this boozy, plum and leather goodness. To the point where I will probably find a larger bottle even though I know I can never finish it. But such is the fear of the perfumecollector when a perfume is a limited edition and you really like it. There's always a little voice whispering that you might run short at one point in your life. It does have resemblance to Rudis Nobile 1942. In Rudis it's wine and leather. Here it's rum, plum and leather. This one is a bit softer after a while, Rudis is perhaps stronger but I love them both. And the combination of dark red leather around the little gold 30 ml bottle is very pleasing. The scent is dark, rich, opulent and a little bit gothic. It makes you long for a glass of deep red wine in a Venetian Palazzo accompanied by a beautiful vampire. Gold inlaid with rubies around your throat wearing an equally purplish red, gold trimmed dress.

I like this one, Leathery luxury. This one has a Fresher opening than Tuscan Leather but I prefer the base of TL in the drydown. This X-mas I predict this newer house is gonna serve up some fierce competition in the North American market. Strong concentrations, whether or not the notes are natural or synthetic, I find the frags from this house last. Although the silage in this one does not reach that far into the room. But in this day and age of the scent free office etc, it doesn't hurt to have a few options in your collection that have a short radius around you. The scent molecules don't seem to travel far. UPDATE: After wearing this one all day I find that it is not as long lasting as I anticipated. But the fragrance is quite strong in it's initial phase.

A juicy, booze-soaked plum embraces the cool, piquant breath of artemisia on a bed of sultry leather. It's fruity, spicy and sweet, almost like a darker, racier version of Jo Malone's "Pomegranate Noir". I really like it. It's not ground-breaking, the leather is very clean, the oud more of a suggestion, but that main accord of spiced plum is just so deliciously sexy. I'm thinking of a vampish Asian girl with dark lipstick and a cropped leather jacket, on her way to a neon-flooded night club. That said, I'm sure a man could pull this off too. The sillage is quite sheer, but enough to leave an alluring trail, without making you smell like you dunked yourself in a vat of plum wine. I recommend as a 'fun night out' scent.

Massively strong boozy opening of whisky and I mean malty, to me this doesn't smell of rum. It has got a leather accord mixed in there with Guaiac wood and oud adding to the overall highland, cask aged single malt feel. I don't think this perfume is beautiful or balanced just quite harsh especially in the opening but it does dry down to an interesting, luxurious and powerful scent. So Gold Leather is a full on fragrance, no holds barred on the leather front either, it's pretty intoxicating in more than one sense of the word! I'd have to try it again but it's certainly a contender for my collection because of it's uniqueness. It might be a little too much on the boozy side though for me...only time will tell.

Probably my favorite Atelier Cologne, Gold Leather is very warm and inviting plum leather. Quite sweet for an unisex perfume, and also for being worn in warmer months. In my opinion, it is more of an autumnal or winter fragrance and a bit closer to the feminine side. The opening is quite complex: sticky plum jam, leather and rum, something mentholated (eucalyptus), citruses, and spicy saffron. After that it goes downhill and becomes a bit flatter, but still remains very inviting. The base is plain woody on me, it's pleasant, but a bit boring considering how exciting the opening was. Staying power is great. Overall a wonderful work, but still lacks some extra oomph for me personally.

in many ways, this perfume is a reference point, of sorts. it's the first *real* time i smelt rum and plum, and it's also the first time i 'got' leather. there's a rocky 30 - 40 minutes where the leather is a little too much, but, after that, the boozy plum, 'oud', saffron and all the other goodies work together to produce a near-perfect concoction. this is also what my wife bought for me for our 1st wedding anniversary. the leather leans towards the metallic side a little, and lingers throughout, however, it's in the 'acceptable range', tolerable and not off-putting. it hugs the upper limit a little too much for mine, but, i can cop it. four and a half stars.

I tried this a few months ago thinking it was overly feminine opening - and it now after trying it again for a longer, I love it. Can be worn day or night, and has a romantic twist. The opening is very cranberry, woody, and then turns leather - unlike Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford, but not that sweet. This one dries down and stays closer to the skin and doesn't project like Black Orchid, another TF beast. This is fresh and clean, and my date loved it. Guys - don't be fooled by the opening - give it a chance. Ladies can wear this too, but I think maybe only as a winter scent - can't see many women pulling this off in the summer.

WOW, such a great scent! Bought a 5 ml decant. So I tried it after a shower at the gym, very relxaing. It's start with the mix of leather, rum and plum. After a while, it's a slow transititon that the plum note takes over the fragrance 9hrs + longevity, great projection got few compliments by the gym staff about it smells really good. not very versatile in my opinion, formal occasion, dates yes fall, winter and spring at night. It is very mysterious scent that I don't see how it could fit in the day. So 8.5/10 Solid release Personally, should be name Gold Plum ;)

Definitely a thumbs up from me. Leather, booze, saffron, spice, oud and plums. Lots of saffron threads floating on a glass of something that will quickly make you giddy sitting next to an opulent brass bowl full of very ripe plums. The oud gets stronger as the fragrance develops. Sadly the ripe plums fade somewhat. It closes with leather, saffron and a touch of booze. I have to admit the opening and first hour are my favourite and all too quickly disappear. Moderate longevity but fades to a skin scent in just over an hour on me. So sad.

Reminds me a little of Acqua di Parma Colonia Oud, just not as stout. The rum, plum, and oud are center stage, while the other notes are very noticeable and play strong supporting roles. I really like Atelier's way of blending their notes. A previous reviewer wrote that this reminded them of Christmas, and I can't agree more. This is not my favorite, but I do like it. I plan on putting it in the closet and saving it for Christmas.

Really nice take on leather and plum. It's starts out with quite a bit of plum and rum but as time goes on, turns into a soft leather/sandalwood smell. Quite a bit of development throughout the life of the fragrance as well. Quality ingredients and expertly blended. Is it worth the retail price tag? Not sure I would pay the hefty price tag but I didn't mind paying the $100.00 I got if for on Amazon. Overall - 9/10

I must say, I was surprised by the longevity, I could still smell it on me after 9 hours (not sure from the clothes or body). The leather accord is strong only in the opening, then it is basically a plum liquor for the rest of the fragrance, melted together with saffron. I really liked it. So well-rounded, balanced and great longevity. I would consider a purchase of 30 ml.

Simply one of the best leathers I've encountered. Unlike the other reviewer below I LOVE the opening! Atelier has rapidly risen to the top of niche brands I love. And Gold Leather is as elegant and rich as I could ever hope to find. Definitely compelling as I'm constantly pressing wrist to nose to identify each stage of its stunning development.

When I first put on this fragrance, my boyfriend, a bartender, said that it smells like Long Island Ice Tea. And it does! It's a boozy, unusual scent that is more masculine but could be worn by a female too. I loved it on my boyfriend, it has a delicious and sexy feel to it.

Feels like a hybrid of Tuscan Leather, Oud Wood, Plum Japonais, and rum opening of Straight To Heaven. maybe not as refined as all those, but still pretty close. lasted 8+ hours, though a bit lacks on projection. my favorite from the line, slightly ahead of Orange Sanguine.

this scent is wonderful. i love it. the boozyness and the caustic leatheriness and sourness from the plum and 'oud' are spectacular. my wife bought me this for our first year anniversary. such a wonderful combo. spectacular!

Tuscan Leather is my #1 scent ever. It ́s also my #1 leather based scent. Atelier Cologne Gold Leather is my #2. Simply amazing!!!

It 'a perfect copy of Accord Oud Byredo. Identically copied and put on the market without paying plagiarism rights. Shameful...!

Wowza! I was prepared for a typical Atelier opening, mostly citrus. What I got: WHISKEY--peaty, harsh, smoked whiskey that made me gag initially. This is not cognac or rum--this is the smoked smell of hides being tanned, a bit urinous, and a couple of sweaty workers "relaxing" amongst the heaps of hides passing a bottle of gut-twisting boggy whiskey. I really had to pull my hand away. (I must add in all fairness that the vast majority of people LOVE this opening--I'm not keen--and I love a smooth single malt, but this was just so unexpected). Wait, wait, and then about 10 minutes later this settles into a considerably more elegant leather with plummy notes, a balanced sort of sweetness (not floss) that arises from fruity accords. There are some spicy aspects but the leather, plum and guaiac wood dominate. This is no Knize 10 which is smooth leather. This makes me think of hides just tanned. Upon re-spritzing lavishly and really trying to discern the notes up close: there is a smell of chlorine (saffron? fake/synth oudh). The pool smell is really quite present. The "oudh" is loud and does not smell authentic but does support the "leather" idea of this scent. Thankfully, the plum cuts it with a sweet autumnal quality "slightly reminiscent" of a Lutens or even one of the Amouages (the latter done much better I think). Unlike other Ateliers as well, this one is pretty big, less "wispy" and wears like a perfume that Atelier really produces. Out of the entire house which I've tried this and Oud Saphir are long and strong, this one tilting ever so slightly feminine I think, but both truly unisex. It is also more FB worthy than some of their thinner offerings. Not a love, but a like, and a surprise. This is appropriate for dinner out, drinks, but probably not great for the office--combine this and some mouthwash and you'll get close stares and funny looks.

When I think of Atelier Cologne’s offering, I’m immediately reminded of their citrus based hits that tend to burn out quickly, scents I enjoy but have never been moved to purchase (except for a 30ml of the one in the yellow package, which I quickly drained on a vacation trip to Croatia). I do love and wear Cafe Tuberosa, what I consider to be one of their stand out scents. That was basically it, until today when I wore a sample splash of Gold Leather. And Gold Leather surprised me, first with the bright citrus opening. Looking at the notes—booze, leather, saffron, plum and oud— I assumed this would be a heavy, dark scent. Instead it’s incredibly smooth and refined, one of the easiest boozy leather scents I’ve sampled. I’m going to guess that the eucalyptus and the artemisia are asserting Gold Leather into a brighter than expected opening, an herbal impression. Dry down is more of the same, just softer with an easy to wear leather coming through. I can understand some of the disappointment coming from leather fans, but for those of us who are not, Gold Leather is wonderful. I think this scent can easily be worn in the Springtime, in warmer weather because of the scents light projection and performance. I’m not interested in a 100 ml bottle, but I am considering a smaller size if Atelier Cologne makes it, or a decant. Good, interesting stuff that judging by some of the reviews below, is also polarizing.

Atelier Cologne Gold Leather is the first somewhat animalistic fragrance by the house that I've tried, and it does not disappoint in uniqueness or creativity. Certainly a leather-intensive fragrance, it nonetheless has a variety of influences. It's fruity and boozy due to the plum note (which factors in so prominently in my boozy enjoyment of By Kilian Single Malt, for one), woody and dark due to the oud and some other wood notes, and there are some green notes. True leather fans (which I can't claim to be) might not like it because, while the leather is omnipresent in the fragrance, it doesn't dominate the experience of it. The opening is very citrus-dominant, and the dry down is much sweeter and woodier. It's unisex to me--not strikingly masculine or feminine, and probably is better for cold weather than warm weather, but like Vanille Insensee and Rose Anonyme, the cologne backing of it does seem to make it friendly enough for summer. Still, bolder performer than most of the line, Gold Leather projects pretty well for a couple of hours before settling down but the longevity is solid, as it remains Its pricing is higher than the Atelier norm: $215 for 100ml retail, but discounted at FragranceX to $140. It's a "like" not a "love" for me, as I'm pretty picky with leathers, though there's certainly a lot more going on here. 7 out of 10

I understand why Tom Ford's Plum Japonais has 8 comparison votes in the "reminds me of...." list. It does remind me of the great PJ, although there are significant differences. Plum Japonais is the more brilliant fragrance. But this Gold Leather is still very nice, which is understandable for any fragrance that is anything like the great but discontinuedTom Ford. I think the Eucalyptus and Artimesia in the mid mucks up Gold Leather's scent profile, in comparison to Plum Japonais. And the Plum is a more pronounced star in PJ. But I'm surprised at the relatively low sub-4 rating Gold Leather gets in Fragrantica. I wouldn't expect the 4.34 that PJ gets, but certainly over 4. I'm a big plum note fan, and have a nice decant, and a clone, of Plum Japonais. Given that it's discontinued, and Gold Leather's price seams reasonable, it's probably full-bottle worthy for me. Update: Re-wearing Gold Leather, with Tom Ford Plum Japonais on right wrist for comparison. Yep, Plum Japonais is the smoother, better scent profile. There is something greenish and astringent in the Gold Leather profile undermining the smoothness characteristic of Plum Japonais, and I suspect the Artemisia and Eucalyptus in the mid. Update 11/29/25: That mid Artimesia and Eucalyptus muck-up ruins the fragrance now imo. I can't get over it. I'm going to sell it off.

Mine is the older version. I think the packaging change was a mistake, because the original bottle looked much better. The very first spray opens with a clear rum note. It’s obvious, sweet but not cloying. You can also smell plum and bitter orange, giving it a slightly boozy fruit-liqueur feel. The opening is very full and almost sticky in texture, as if the scent were a liquid clinging to the skin. After about ten minutes the rum softens, and leather and guaiac wood slowly begin to emerge. This isn’t the dry, rough kind of leather. It feels more like suede soaked in sweet fruit, slightly supple, with a subtle smoky woodiness. In the drydown, guaiac wood and cedar settle in and the fragrance becomes calmer and more restrained, with a faint medicinal nuance that you only really notice when you bring your nose close. This is a fragrance with a very clear evolution. The opening is warm and almost syrupy, full of fruit flesh and sweetness; the middle moves into leather and wood; and the drydown feels like fruit jam slowly seeping into the grain of wood—soft but never overly sweet. Overall it feels quiet and steady, well suited to that moment when the temperature has just started to drop: summer hasn’t quite left yet, but you’re not ready to switch to full autumn fragrances either.

Bold opening of herbal and aromatic spices, smelling like oriental oils. Scent gives the impression of authenticity and high-quality. Some could find the herbal notes a little medicinal at first because of the prominent notes of eucalyptus, artemisia and gaiac wood. They are the core of the perfume (don’t pay attention to voters’ notes, as some don’t know what artemisia smells like). Additionally the saffron note balances the herbal notes. Interesting dry-down for me on skin, sometimes the smokiness disappears in the back to let the green notes develop more, and 10 minutes later the saffron and leathery/woody notes are back again. The oud is gentle, not to your face which I like, and used as a balanced base. The gaiac note here is richer than the oud, which gives to the perfume a balsamic woodiness. Very beautiful balance of ingredients, aromas and spices. High quality and decent price value. Definitely an arboraceous and animalic perfume, mysterious and mystic. To me it either screams Slytherin house and forgotten temples, or transports you back to the 1910-1930s direction Istanbul or Cairo by Orient Express... ___ Projection, sillage, longevity : 9/10 Originality, presentation : 7,5/10 Quality, value : 9/10 8,5/10

The opening is a very spiced citrus and boozy plum intense burst with an undertone hinting of what is to come hours later; a much deeper guaiac wood, a bit of oud, and a tar-like note with hints of its former citric pungency and still all the booze. I don't get leather, personally, but this must be the tar note I smell. Never before (or since) have I experienced a scent that seemed to have so many different phases on my skin. I remember finding 4 fairly distinct phases that it continued to pass through for hours. Overall this is a boozy spiced citrus rind & plum with lots of guaiac wood in the background. The medicinal/hot tones of oud and saffron mingle with these notes, in and out, creating a lot of depth over time. A very interesting and attractive scent, but oddly, I find it has no emotional or image inducing effect on me, which is sort of odd. I usually make an association of some sort with scents that I enjoy. Very unisex, IMHO. Longevity is great (7+ hrs), sillage is moderate on me. (edited 7/17)

Gold Leather has recently been moved into the new Collection Rare, with Oud Saphir, Santal Carmin, and this year newly launched Gaiac Éternal and Rose Cuirée. The bottle has been changed into the one of Gaiac Éternal: A dark blue bottle with a golden metallic label and cap. Each has a different curve on the label, though not very evident at a first glance (esp. compared to the original labels of different colours). Gold Leather seems been significantly reformulated. If my memory serves me well, the original one is a rum leather. Yet on the strip, the current version has a very dominant rose note and lean woody base. The leather is much weaker and rum can hardly be sensed. This suspicion has been supported by the official website, which features GL with bergamot, davana, and leather. Notably, there are very few overlaps between two proclaimed pyramids. Personally, neither of the two versions smells bad, though not original either.

This smells like a more mature version of Dark Rum by Malin+Goetz, a little bit leathier, I’d say. This one feels more suited for a date, while Dark Rum would work better for a party or something more casual. It also reminded me of L’Air du Désert Marocain by Tauer. They’re almost the same I honestly wouldn’t be able to tell them apart if I smelled this on someone in the street. I’d just get whichever one I find at the best price. This has average longevity at least on my skin, I usually stop smelling it before 6 hours have passed. The sillage is kind of mediocre, so don’t be afraid to spray a bit more. The plum is really noticeable at the beginning of the scent, but as it dries down, the leather (and oud?) starts to bloom and the plum almost disappears completely. So if you want the plum to stick around throughout the whole scent, this one’s not for you. For me, this a nice fragrance, but nothing I’d go crazy for!

GOLD LEATHER is a very long lasting leather scent, but I have to admit that the scent itself develops in 3 hours and then stays very linear and close to the skin for the next 12 hours and more. It opened a bit too sweet for my taste, but very unique nevertheless. Leather with juicy, sweet, ripe plum and intoxicating accord of rum and saffron. I also get eucalyptus which gives an interesting fresh vibe, funny enough, but together it smells surprisingly good. I did not get any oud, but maybe it's just me. After the first 3 hours scent settles to a "leather-jacket" kind of leather with just a hint of sweet dried fruits. Really nice. GOLD LEATHER is a unisex (but a bit too feminine imho) oriental leather with an enormous staying power and a wonderful uniqueness in it's opening/heart part. I am pretty much sure that no one will smell like you if you wear this.

I'm going to use a word that I hate using to describe fragrances here: sexy. Gold Leather is straight up sexy on a man, and unexpectedly sexy on a woman. The opening is quite complex; I get some booze, some smoky wood (oud) with a hint of cedar and leather in the background. Its not very plummy at all, really, and I wanted that complex opening to last for longer. That's the best part. The oud is also well tempered here, as its not too overwhelming. The scent itself is linear, but its easy to wear, rich, sensual, well-blended and quite elegant. I find it fascinating how male reviewers seem to get more sweetness (femininity) and females more woods (masculinity); although for myself, I would prefer a little more sweetness, but otherwise its damn delicious as is. Soft to moderate sillage, lasts for about 7-8 hours.

Fruity beginning which is very sweet. I also get some dried plums that have been macerating in alcohol and added on top some extra orange peel for freshness. At one point, I pick something mentholated that goes on and off. The booze is gone and the fruity notes are there, going strong, sweet and juvenile most of the time as they don't have something powerful to balance with, being that the leather is very shy, more like a soft suede; it is clean and it's sitting quietly in the background. The fruits are clearly dominating the blend, but towards the end, woods are joining and it also has some kind of dusty feel to it. Scent: 6/10 Longevity: 9/10 Projection: 7/10

If you like boozy scents, the opening of this one doesn’t get much better. Stunning boozy plum opening, Dry down is also really good, where you get kind of a plum tinged woody suede smell. Smooth, decadent and a little raunchy. The mid however can be a bit weird sometimes though. The eucalyptus mixing with the boozy plum is very unique, nothing smells like this combo but it can be a little strange and mildly funky and you have to be in the mood for it. Overall excellent and one of the few AC’s that last a while.

I really enjoyed trying this scent; it’s very sophisticated and cozy without being too heavy. I do wish the eucalyptus and citrus notes were more prominent, though. I found that the plum notes were more noticeable in warmer weather while the rum and woody notes stood out more in cooler weather. I do agree that it does become a skin scent after about six hours, but overall it lasts for about ten hours. This would make a fantastic Jack-of-all-trades scent for cooler weather overall.

This fragrance is deceptive: the initial spray is fruity and floral before settling into the leather. Then, though, notes of dark leather and sweet pipe tobacco emerge. When I bought it, the salesman noted that many people claim it smells like a cocktail, and it does! It reminds me of a Manhattan because the bourbon notes remain, but there's an almost cherry-fruit note settled in there as well. Such a well-crafted scent, like a well-crafted Manhattan, is hard to find.

I'm trying a decant I got with a bigger purchase and, so far, I'm enjoying what I smell. GL opens with a strong projection of a dirty leather scent, but after half an hr this accord is overcome by a boozy, plummy oud. So far it's been 5h and the oud note dominates the composition. The projection is strong at the beginning but now it's just a skin scent. It's really cozy and more on the feminine side, a good fragrance for chilly days. 7/10

I like the idea or the choice of wearing this fragrance maybe also in a warmer climate, as a way to stand out, and quite a lot, from the more conventional summer scents, to take a break without paying too much attention to the current season. I really like Gold Leather. In my opinion it's a good and easy artemisia_rum, easily shared as proposed, probably even in the hottest season if it's gently dosed.

This is a mild boozy plum. I think a better name for this would be "leather plum". Soft leather with strong plum and some boozyness. Playful and pleasant unisex scent. As time passes the leather becomes more prominent but never turns into a heavy one. Beautiful.

It's really likable. It has so much resemblences to L'Artisian Jatamansi, a discountinued fragrance, with a hint of oud to be specific. However, as some reviews mentioned its link with Byredo Accord Oud which is true.

I'm so disappointed. I loved this from first sniff. Smells of leather and rum... sort of a rock star fragrance... like something Lady Gaga would wear to the Oscars. Smells fantastic on my friend. But after 1 hour on my skin, it wreaks of patchouli, which isn't even listed among the notes. I have noticed that my skin tries to turn everything into patchouli, so it's probably just me, but I'm just so disappointed. The coolest fragrance, and I can't wear it!

Very boozy but cloying and not harmonious opening, even for a fan of boozy perfumes like me. The dry down, with soft leather notes belatedly added to the mix along with woods and oud, is pleasant enough but seems like an afterthought, though I found it to be much more thoughtful than the pile up opening. Not a rich golden leather cologne but an alcoholic brew essai with some wan leather notes who didnt end well as result. Still Ok

On first spray, I instantly thought to myself - I already have this smell, this is Versace Oud Noir in more ways than one. And it's no surprise - oud, guaiac wood, saffron, leather, they share quite a few ingredients. Someone described this as TF Oud Wood plus Plum Japonais. Yep, I'd agree with that, kind of. But the leather is there, in the background, just like it is in Versace Oud Noir, so I'd personally describe this as Oud Noir plus JUST the plum from Plum Japonais. The plum though, along with the rum note, together they come across a lot like rose to my nose. If the thought of a rosey/plummy TF Oud Wood sounds appealing to you, then this is right up your alley! This is also much stronger than any of those mentioned. I received this at the post office and couldn't wait to smell it, so I sprayed it in my car. One spray on the back of my hand and I INSTANTLY regretted that decision! It was way too strong to spray in such a confined space. The dilemma here for me, is that this scent overlaps a few scents in my collection. Versace Oud Noir and recently acquired Muhammad Ali Legacy Oud Round 6 (which is a smooth blended rose oud). So, it looks like I have some decisions to make as to what to keep and what to resell. Update: This lost. By a lot, for me personally. I like Oud Wood and Oud Noir and I love rose oud fragrances, I just wasn't feeling the mixed vibe from this one, but I'm sure many others will love this stuff.

در شروع کار؛ یک انفجاری از نتهای شیرین وجود داره. به شخصه از عطرهای شیرین خیلی خوشم میاد؛ ولی شیرینی که در تاپ نوت این عطر وجود داره؛ شیرینی گزنده ای داره. در نظر بگیرین که توت سفیدی که مدتی میمونه و بیش از حد میرسه چه بویی ازش متصاعد میشه؛ حالا اون شیرینی بیش از حدی رو که این توت سفید در این مرحله داره رو همراه با آلو در نظر بگیرین؛ تاپ نوت عطر دقیقا به این صورته. خوشبختانه این تاپ نت حدود ۵-۴ دقیقه بیشتر طول نمیکشه و عطر به سمت تلخ شدن گام برمیداره. در این مرحله؛ چرم بتدریج اضافه میشه و در کنارش تلخی نسبتا ملایمی وجود داره. بوی عطر در این مرحله تا پایان عمر عطر تغییر محسوسی نمیکنه پخش بوی عطر در مرحله ی تاپ نوت بسیار زیاده و در مرحله ی نت میانی و پایانی پخش بوی متوسطی داره ولی عمر عطر به نسبت زیاده کاری هست که بنظر من ارزش خرید رو نداره. چون بوی خاص و منحصر به فرد یا پخش بوی وسیعی نداره ---------------------------------------------------- Opening is too sweet. I like sweet perfumes so much; but top note of this perfume is very nettle. Imagine that you smell white berry. It is so sweet. This perfume smell like this one plus plum. This top note stay for about 5 minute and after that middle note is appeared. In this step; sweet note is disappeared and bitter smell is replaced. The leather smelled gently. Silage is so good in top note, but is moderate in middle and base note.

Opens powerfully with a fruity booziness that makes me think of drinking way too much sweet red wine and having indigestion in the backseat of a hot car with leather seats. The astringency quickly gives way to a smooth spiced leather drydown that seems to slowly dissipate until only the faintest hint of clove and desiccated fruit leather remains. To be honest I fully expected to love this from the note list but I am not a fan. Arabian Knight's comparison with Pomegranate Noir is spot on. While I don't hate this as much as I hate that one, I have trouble with these sort of tangy-fruit with mature-spice/powerful things. Not poorly made or anything, in fact it smells very high quality, but just not for me at all. 4.5/10
