Orange Sanguine

I received a sample when it launched, immediately purchased a mini splash in a set, and later kept travel sprays in my arsenal. A full bottle was out of my price range at the time so, never having much to play with, I only ever wore it sparingly (and occasionally layered atop other, more pronounced scents). But whether used on it's own or in conjunction with a heavier perfume, Orange Sanguine was a consistent part of my summer rotation for 3 years before I moved on. And even then, it was never once forgotten. The top notes are frankly mind blowing. Not because of any artistic complexity, but because it is THE MOST realistic blood orange scent a person can find outside of the actual fruit. On a white hot summer morning it wakes me up, like chugging a glass of ice cold OJ, and a short while later I'm left with a barely-there spicy warmth emanating softly from my skin. It was perfect for the office. While the opening notes are my favorite part during the day, those base notes are what I lived for in the evening. Something about the humidity of summer nights makes it sing, and it is...delicious. I remember many evenings sweating ever-so-slightly at a lively barbecue, catching hints of sweet tonka and dry jasmine on my wrists as I lifted a cold beer to my lips. It's been 10 years since I first laid hands on Orange Sanguine and I have only just recently decided to finally get My bottle. I don't believe it should have taken me so long, but I will say it's likely due to the 2 complaints I have always had against this "cologne absolue." The first is the longevity. Unless anchored to another fragrance, it requires frequent reapplying to enjoy those tangy fruity top notes, and a heavy hand to make the base stick around longer than a couple of hours. This would not be worthy of a complaint if the price-point were similar to that of other, equally fleeting colognes. The second concern is in the nature of the scent composition itself. Orange Sanguine is unisex...but in all truth I think a better descriptor would be "asexual." It's not something I can reach for if I want to smell romantic, or glamorous. It doesn't smell attractive...it just smells good. Which is sometimes all that's required. But on the days (and nights) when I require something more than mere pleasantries, I need to add another fragrance into the mix to complete the vibe. Though I suppose it's this mixability that allowed me to hang onto small amounts of this one for long periods of time without feeling cheated. Either way, I would prefer to never be without this one. It's perfect for what it is.

I truly love this photo-realistic orange scent! It brings me back to childhood where I used to crush and rub orange peels on my arms and wished the scent would not disappear so quickly. Orange Sanguine is so juicy, bright, fresh, and opens with a slightly sweet fruity aroma. I think this sweetness is essential, it drives home the image of perfectly pulpy ripe oranges! This is my go to scent to pair with other more complex fragrances (like Lost Cherry for example). Every time I almost lose myself in the complexity of the other scent, I sniff Orange Sanguine on my right wrist and I am back on track. A palate cleanser if you will. The only occasion I will not wear this, is on days I know I'll be sweaty- Orange Sanguine will really emphasize the tanginess of sweat. Now, I love my bottle of Orange Sanguine but something unfortunate has happened. For some reason, it does not smell like it used to anymore. It is not at all sweet, but musky, heavy, and coarse. Maybe even chemical-ly and pungent, its terrible :(. I have tested it a couple of times and it is like this on cool days AND humid days. The scent left on the atomizer is the same sweet juicy aroma, but somehow the juice has gone off... I suspect the high humidty in my area has ruined my batch... Well, I only have a little left in my bottle so it is fine (might buy a new one), but I will be using my bottle as a nasal stick and NOT spraying it out.

ORANGE & ORANGEWOOD. Only available on the grey market in North America now as it's been discontinued here. Opens with a burst of soft blood-orange that deepens into a peppery, rosy jasmine heart, all resting on a slightly soapy cedar & woods. The blood orange here is very soft, and its underpinned by faintly soapy, spicy & woody facets, and I get a faint pencil shaving note on the skin. The woody notes lean to orangewood & cedar. Overall I get a luxury translucent bar-soap or shower gel with orange & soft-spicy-woody tones. Average performance for a subtle wearing experience. Contrast to Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia Guerlain: These are different, but this is the most similar scent to Orange Sanguine I've smelt. Roughly equivalent performance, or slightly better performance for Orange Soleia. Contrast to Eau de Mandarine Ambree Hermes: These are different, but there are similarities with orange citrus. EdMA has a more forward tropical facet. Roughly equivalent performance, or slightly better for Orange Sanguine. Contrast to Sun Lush: These are different, but there are similarities with orange-citrus. Sun Lush has a more forward powdery quality and the woody facets lean more to sandalwood. Overall: Beautiful take on an orange scent, with average performance this is the perfect scent to wear for an 'outdoorsy' vibe. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I never get sick of this! It's optimistic, fresh and just complex enough to keep you interested. I don't think I have a great nose but here goes: To me it smells like clementines at their peak, it's a fresh, photorealistic citrus which got me hooked in the store. There's a touch of a vanill-y warmth. I don't love gourmand scents, but I don't find it particularly offensive, I suppose that's what gives it the "happy" vibe for me. Then a touch of wood somewhere in the base, a little sandalwoody-a little cedary? The "green-ness" of the floral middle notes are perhaps more evident on drydown. I can't help but feel happy sniffing it and definitely reach for it mostly in the summer. Its freshness is a nice antidote to muggy weather. It's not incredibly long-lasting nor does it have great sillage, as others have mentioned, but as someone who can sometimes get headaches or nausea from perfume, it's perfect. I suppose it's also the tradeoff you get for all that freshness and citrus. It's a scent I wear for me and sometimes if I'm very insistent and spray more of it/on clothes/hair my husband will notice it too.

I'm a fan of citrus scents so when I heard about Orange Sanguine I felt like I had to give it a try. Went to the store to pick up a new perfume and decided to sample it. On the tester paper it was extremely orangey and juicy smelling. The bitter orange came through most prominently. I was somewhat ambivalent about the scent but kept coming back to it after trying some other brands and scents out. I decided to spray some on myself and walk around a bit to do some shopping to see how I liked it on my skin. Wow. I absolutely loved how fresh and warm it smelled on me. The sandalwood came through much more prominently with a smaller burst of orange underneath. I tend to prefer more unisex scents, as sweeter scents irritate my nose. I can see myself wearing this scent year round, but it definitely smells like late summer, late afternoon, sitting under the shade of a tree. I wore this to lunch outside and it stayed on my skin for about 5-6 hours. I got compliments on it too! Highly recommend this if you like warm, citrusy scents.

This evokes memories of my childhood on the Pacific coast of Mexico: early-morning cool but humid/dense air, and the kichen is buzzing: there's cutting, squeezing, and tossing spent oranges into a basket. Also, there's something that few people seem to catch from this is a faint yet distinct green spices and herbs peeking out beneath the orage zest: I sense oregano and cilantro, but that might be my personal memory hallucinations. It's the most realistic fresh orange-and-spice fragrance I've ever encountered, like burying your face in a basket of freshly cut and squeezed oranges and green herbs. The perfumer claims it's composed of over 90% natural oils, which is surprising becasaus Orange Sanguine lasts surprisingly long for a citrus freshie: it pushes 1-2 hours of radiance. I reach for this first thing in the morning, before my coffee. It helps wake me up and stirs a quiet happiness in me. Blind buy safe and one of the most emotionally evocative scents in my collection.

Opening is mouth watering orange juice with slight bitterness from rinds with tinges of the leaves floating around. For me, the opening only lasts 5-10 minutes, but boy is it amazing during that first spray. After that, it transforms into a 2-3 hr light orange creamsicle/musk skin scent. Blind bought this after reading reviews and seeing it was hyped by Jeremy Fragrance. I know that he's not the favorite personality from frag community-types, but he does know his stuff. His explanation on Orange Sanguine is pretty spot on (for the opening) and I do agree that this is more artistic than mainstream. I'd recommend this as "pick me up" for when you need a boost of energy in your day. To me, it's not so much a daily wearing fragrance, but instead art (photo-realistic fragrance concoction) Price: 7.5/10 Quality: 9/10 Versatility: 8/10 Sillage/Projection: 0.5-1 ft Performance: 2-3 hrs on skin Overall: 8/10

Such a yummy orange scent. Honestly the most realistic smelling orange scent I've smelt so far, always makes my mouth water. Energizing and refreshing on a hot summer day. Sadly, I wish the performance could be better. After 30minutes it becomes faint and lasts 3-4 hours. Maybe it easily becomes undetectable for the wearer, but maybe, just maybe the wearer becomes anosmic to it, who knows. However, the performance on a blazing summer day is luckily a bit better. Orange Sanguine projects a little bit further off the skin and lasts 1-2 extra hours. It's also good for layering with other fresh/aquatic fragrances (I personally wear it with Light Blue Intense, Explorer...) as it gives a citrusy kick to the fragrance. But Orange Sanguine is quite expensive for it to be called a layering fragrance. 7/10

I tested this a while back as a perfume discounter sent a little sample and i loved it! So i just saw a little purse size on sale in an orange leatherette holder and decided to get it. I really love it for summer, but you could use anytime. It is just like fresh squeezed OJ at a fancy brunch. Not complicated nor intense, nor does it linger for a long time or have great projection, but alas it is a great pick-me-up if you need it, it makes u feel light clean and energized. The purse spray is perfect for this reason. I use it at work, i spray it on the back of my hands so i can sniff and get some aroma therapy, or when i want to shield myself from odors i dont like — like when coworkers have a stinky lunch or there are bad smells on the train. It would be great for air travel bc not too strong.

This perfume is a citrus lover's dream. All of the other ingredients beside the blood orange, and mandarin orange, serve as supporting actors that cradle the delicate essence of the citrus notes. Just imagine that you've bitten into a fresh orange with the juices running down your chin and the oils from the rind nearby, invigorating your spirit. This is an absolute crown gem, and I will be buying a full bottle immediately. For years, I have found that the occasional use of citrus perfumes or essential oil aromas are uplifting for my spirit and as of late, I have been using them more often. Even though this is comprised of mostly citrus notes at the top and in my opinion, the heart, it does have extremely good, lasting power and I would attribute that to the supporting notes.

This is the most realistic orange fragrance i ever smelled. This feels like somebody is peeling a fresh orange in the room. Juicy and fresh! Really uplifting and fun scent which makes me happy everytime i spray it. Considering its scent profile it is evident that it will not last much but this does its job pretty well for what it is. A fun happy after shower sort of a frag which smells like oranges and is quite natural and not synthetic. I personally would not like to smell like blood orange for a whole day anyways. 3-4 hours are fine for a scent like this. It has some faint woods in the base which are evident in the dry down although not much. Overall this frag is well made and has a photo realistic blood orange opening which is really uplifting in summers.

Can't really add anything to what the others have said, so I'll just agree that this is hands down THEE most realistic and juiciest orange scent ever! As it's already been stated, "instant sunshine in a bottle"...couldn't have said it better myself. Simply superb. Not to mention longevity is terrific on me...3 sprays and I'm set! Easily smelling it the entire work day. Which is an amazing accomplishment for a citrus based scent to not only smell so natural....but to do so while outlasting all the other orange dominated frags I've had over the years. If you love the smell of orange....nice natural ripe orange with a touch of the rind. Then do yourself a favor and give this one a try, I highly doubt you'll regret it.

I’m going to try and write this review with as little bitterness as possible that this is an Eau de Colonge and hasn’t been released as an EDT or even EDP. As everyone says, it’s like someone juiced a bunch of oranges in front of you, for you, then freaked out and threw the glass in your face. Reviewing this scent really would be like reviewing the smell of fresh orange juice - what for? I’m sure you know what that smells like already. This is it. Lasts about 4 hours. I think it would be really interesting to wear this on a brisk winter day. Overpriced. Unless you’re buying the 200ml from Notino for £129. In which case, it’s just really expensive. Hope you love your vitamin C.

immediately hits you with blood orange, a very real smell that doesn't feel artificial at all. soon it dries down to give way to something sweeter, like topping the fruit off with brown sugar (which happens to be exactly how i ate grapefruit when i was younger). the deepening creamy sweetness (slightly vanilla) mixes beautifully with the flavor of citrus, both working together to bring a delicious flavor that feels as equally edible as it does fresh. i'm not a gourmand kind of guy at all, but nothing about that "edibility" is off putting at all to me because of how gentle and genuine it is. i don't get a lot of spiciness, but it works perfectly fine without it

As an orange lover it took me way to long to get this. It's awesome. One of the most authentic realistic orange openings. People call this the "orange juice fragrance" and I get it. First whiff I got the blood oranges but now the bitter orange starts to shine. A little creamy touch from the tonka and sandalwood but not too much. Pretty masculine to my nose. It's pointless to complain about performance. Just appreciate the amazing smell or over spray, this won't offend anyone. These like the Aqua Allegoria line from Guerlain are meant to do one thing and that is have incredible openings. Dry down is a combo of orange, tonka and sandalwood. Good sh*t.

This is not your average citrus fragrance. This is life changing citrus fragrance. Some people are looking for that sharp citrus eye-opener and other people are looking for that sweet orange candy. While both are good in there own right, this Orange Sanguine is neither of those. This fragrance is a deep and rich blood orange with whatever else the perfume artist mixed in to make it sing like a cymbal reverberating a unique orange juice power ballad. But this is not just like orange juice, this is like the best mimosa you ever damn had. I rest my case, and I have this lovely Orange Sanguine bottle resting on the top shelf of my fragrance bar.

More floral and ambery in its dry down than a lot of other citrus fragrances in its category. I'm comparing it on my arm to Guerlain's Mandarine Basilic and it smells so much more soapy clean and vanillic in comparison (I'm pretty sure there's no vanilla in it but that's how it leans when the two are side by side). If you want a orange scent with the body of a more traditional floral/woody fragrance then I think you will like this because it's very balanced and easy to like. Those looking for a more refreshing or bitter zesty citrus will not be satisfied, I do not think it is as realistic as some reviewers give off after its initial spray.

Wow. Just wow. This scent is absolutely stunning. When I first tried it, I wasn’t a huge fan because it smelled a little too sanitizer clean. But now it’s one of my go-tos. When you first spray it on it does smell very clean, you get that cedar and pepper and it’s just a very clean scent. But then as it dries down, the citrus comes out like a freshly peeled orange. It’s strong, sharp, and bold. It’s great for those die-hard citrus lovers. This is an amazing pick for a breezy summer day where you’re spending the day outside. This scent is absolutely beautiful! Lasts a while and doesn’t get too strong when you have to reapply.

The opening is a burst of blood orange and mandarin, very juicy, your vitamin C for the day! I would not like to smell like that for a long time though, like a walking fruit smoothie. The finesse of this scent emerges after the first notes settle down and the scent develops into something more soft and elegant. That's what a quality fragrance does. Tonka beans bring some warmth and softness into this cheerful, energetic orange-mandarin bomb, and I believe the floral notes also give balance to it. This is a very pleasant scent. I like the color of the perfume and the simple, elegant bottle. I could wear this all year round.

I adore this perfume. It opens with a freshly peeled orange burst, then comes a lovely fresh floral scent that blends perfectly with the orange, and much later, it develops into a dry, slightly bitter orange scent that is complemented by some woody smells. It’s very fresh and feminine at the opening, and much dryer and more masculine in the dry down. This fragrance also layers beautifully with vanilla. I always wore it with Vanilla Vibes by JHAG, which gives it a creamsicle at the beach vibe. It has great sillage and longevity too. I usually get compliments with this one.
